It is a very unique game. I might be very bad at but, but I could only finish lighting up the little thingies in the bottom 3 sections. No way I could ever get to the top section. :P
You seem to have run out of time when making this, but at least you got a solid foundation for something fun. Keep working on this!
Help! I'll save you! Ha. ha. ha. ha.
If I could rate you guys, I'd give you 6/5 stars. Ludum Dare to Believe forever!
That last level where you have to control both of them was difficult! But I made it through after a few tries. The ambient music was very fitting. Only one critique, you should not let the player be able to move until the level transition is done. I was able to sneak through a couple of walls before they were in place. Still, good game! Well done.
This is pretty cool! graphics are nice and the music is great! The pace of the game is fast. Maybe a bit too fast. But awesome job!
This is interesting! However, the visual transition between the two game modes is a bit jarring to the eyes. But nevertheless, good work.
I like the idea of having to spend time away from shooting to collect ammo. You have to balance the two things out. Fun! I got a score of 34300.
The graphics were nice, but I wasn't entirely sure how play. Somehow I won? Maybe? Doesn't anything happen after wave 9? In any case, good job, keep up the good work.
If you continue developing this, I suggest using the S key for down instead of X, since it is the usual default key of choice for down. Changing that key messes with people's expectation, and increases the entry level for the game.
But I hope what I said doesn't discourage you. Well done, keep up the good work!
Very cool concept, executed flawlessly. I want to see this with more levels!
I really liked it! I think you're kind of thrown into the game out of nowhere. I didn't know exactly what I had to do. That went away quickly though. Very very fun after that small confusion. I only got 44 puddles though. I call hacks on 222 puddle high score!
TIM! HOW DID YOU GET SO MANY SNOWBALLS?! I had some lag, but that was fun!
Very cool game! I did start getting squinty-eyed after playing it for a while though. Luckily, A wizard taught me some "street magic", and my eyeballs were very pleased!
Starting out playing this game, I didn't not know what I was getting myself into. Very quirky. I had a fun time! That was pretty good. Well done!
That was a super neat twist on the ol' thruster-momentum game genre (is that an actual genre anyway?). Very unique. Well done!
This is awesome! Short, difficult, fast-paced gameplay. Super addicting and fun! Attention to detail, like the screen shaking, is a huge plus! Nicely done.
That was really cool! Fast paced, and lots of detail. Scoring points felt so satisfying. Great work!
This would be nifty on a touch screen! I got a score of 24. Well done!
I am a HUGE fan of Threes. And this is an interesting twist on it. It almost feels like an alternate mini-game that would be in the real Threes. Bricky Block is difficult, but it's well made. Nicely done!
Nicely done. It is a short but easily re-playable game! I got 84 as my highest score. The graphics are pretty nice.
A little simple but clever concept, executed well! It is short and fast paced, which makes it very addicting. If you expand this idea a bit I could totally see myself playing this on my phone while waiting for a bus.
Hey, that was pretty neat! Like Forge said, the way the audio evolved that awesome. It reinforced the feeling that I was progressing!
I felt a bit stuck when moving after growing a bit. But the different characters for time travelers was exactly what The Doctor prescribed!
This is a very interesting puzzle mechanic. I like it. It creates some very interesting (and super difficult) puzzles. Couldn't finish it, but well done.
It got really difficult at that last part, but man was it satisfying reaching the end. Good job, that was pretty fun!
That was a great experience. Very cool concept. I escaped the dungeon. The game cries out for sound, but being made in 48 is very impressive!
Simple but fun. Difficulty ramps up super fast at one point!
The dynamic narration was a great touch. Music, sounds, and visuals tied together really nicely. I was a little confused on where to go at times, but I enjoyed playing this. Really well done!
I played the game. Then I went through an existential crisis, realizing that I had just played a game in which I cry and poop as a baby.
This will leave an impression on me for the rest of my life.
This was awesome! Very cool concept, and solid execution of it. I'd love to see this idea expanded post-LD31!
I got as far as the coins. Not sure if that's the end or if I just didn't figure out what I needed to do.
I finished the game with 78 retries. It is a difficult but fun and addicting game! One thing that I found really frustrating was that I kept getting teleported to levels I had already completed and I was forced to either do something I had already done or sacrifice my current score, die, and hope the next level is not a repeat either. So take that as you will.
Still, this was really fun! Well done!
Simple concept, a lot of fun. I love the rolling. I became a boss at evading that way after a while. I got a score of 13700! Not sure if that's a good score or not though.
Give Life Back to Music, by Daft Punk?
Also, there's a 3 block wide jump you have to make near the top of the level that got a bit frustrating. I reached the boss after a while, but there were some bugs during the fight, I think. Still, I think you overall did a good job! Keep up the good work.
It's a fun game. Although it is a bit difficult having to be *right next* to the enemies in order to hit them. For some reason, the mouse reminds me of Rodent's Revenge, that one game from 1991. I used to play that game so much when I was a tiny human. Ah... memories.
This is pretty neat! I like 3D mode better. I really like the persistence of the fireballs after shooting them. It was a nice touch. The little cooldown bar at the top of the character freaked me out slightly until I understood what it was. I thought it was an enemy because it looks very similar them. Maybe make it slightly different somehow?
Great job! Keep up the good work.
This little game was superb. Graphics and sounds and gameplay felt very retro and tied well together. The game is short, but all the building blocks are there if you want to keep expanding on this!
Simple good fun! The graphics were really nice, although it could have used a bit of sound. Still, good work!
Very simple but very fun. Executed elegantly.
Its a little difficult to figure out what to do at first. But the graphics are nice! Those cooks need to get out of my way!
One of those "Super difficult but in a good way" games. However, at least for me, the little pixel seemed to be floating above the supposed platforms. I didn't get too far. I want to know of the incredible beings who did beat this game.
It is quirky and fun. Nicely done! Although after getting a second companion I began to think that the taxi company doesn't pay me enough money.
I wish I could resize the window, it hurts my eyes after a while! But its a neat little game. I like the special abilities, and how it is randomly generated (I think).
The evolution of music is great. Nicely done!
Really simple, enjoyable, fun. And it is executed beautifully!
The game has some bugs. But practice makes perfect, so good job, keep at it!
This is a neat and unique concept! It was fun to play.
I have some respectful critique though, I hope you don't mind: If you just purely focus on avoiding the black and forget about everything else, the game becomes easy, and any points you would have gotten by focusing on color matching you gain over the long term instead. Once I figured this out I had a score of 200,000 with 15 lives left. And since. judging by your description, I had reached the top difficulty, I felt I could have gone forever.
One possible way to combat this would be instead of using a score as a measure of how good you play, maybe use time? At the start of the game, you'd set a timer of say, 3 minutes. It ticks down, but you get extra fractions of seconds when you match the colors. Black could actually deduct the time, in this case. So the player is trying to push back the timer from inevitably ticking down to zero. Your "score" then would be how much time you actually lasted.
But apart from that, you did a great job! It was a fun game to play. Well done!
The narration is a nice detail. I wish you could move while they played. Although I know that means you could trigger multiple ones at the same time. Maybe they'd have to be shorter sound clips to counter this. Or maybe just end the oldest sound clip when a new one is to play. Or maybe pause the game for a specific few important narrations, but have shorter narrations that don't pause the game too? I'm not sure. It's an interesting problem.
I like how each character has their own type of weapons, that was a nice detail. Good job!
It's a neat game, but very difficult. I could never do well enough buy a single turret! Maybe lower the difficulty a little bit? Or maybe I'm just bad at the game. But good job, it was still fun to play!
Amazing game, so clever. My only thoughts so far would be to maybe start off with a 1-Player or 2-Player selection screen, to make things a little more clear... And maybe some basics that explain the game step by step until the player gets a better feel for how the game works. The GUI is just a bit cluttered before the game actually starts.
Learning curve is pretty steep, and the responsiveness of the animations and actions is kind of on the sticky side, making it hard to time throwing the goats...
But the concept and execution is brilliant and hilarious. Not to mention that funny music. And it's in a tire. The intire game. Love it. Just needs a little more work.
The gameplay seems to have potential with some refinements, but quitting the game itself every time you die is not exactly the best... Since the game seems to be short-paced, just a quick reset so you can start and try again quickly would be more beneficial, I think.
This was pretty cool! Super fun to play. I liked the secret tip at the end. The one thing I want to critique is the difficulty. At least for me, it seemed somewhat easy. I had saved up over 200 bits because I didn't need to use ammo or replenish my shield. Most enemies you could simply evade. Maybe add a smart, pathfinding enemy? The last fight with the other tanks was a good challenge though.
Great job! You had me playing till the end, and some. Keep up the good work!
That was pretty good! keep working on this post-LD! It'd be fun to play with friends.
Relatively simple concept, but surprisingly fun for how simple it is. I got a highscore of 15. This game cries out for sound though!
The invisible walls on the top and bottom were the bad part, but I like the idea of using barriers to hold them back!
That was surprisingly fun. And addicting! Well done.
That was fun! The game yearns for sound though. Still, I had a good time, and had a good laugh at the end! Nicely done.
That was very fun! It felt quirky and humorous. Great variety of enemies! The only drawback is that I wish there was a way to see how much health you had. Music also stopped after a while.
Still, thumbs up from me!
It's simple fun! I like it. However, not everyone has a keypad on their keyboard, including me. :( Maybe have a secondary set of controls for those people?
In any case, well done! It was fun to play.
This is a very interesting concept! I think I need a bit more guidance in order to understand the gameplay a little better, but overall, this was fun to tinker with!
Let me just say that this is one of the more... interesting games I've tried. I found it really funny. I am not sure if your choices matter at all? Maybe it is a statement about the futility of breaking down another's ego or something? No idea.
If your choices do matter, then I respectfully suggest you think about the feedback your game gives to the players. How would you clearly keep the player informed on what is happening? Anyway, that's my criticism. Apart from that, great work!
This is pretty unique! Simple gameplay but pretty fun. The game cries out for sound though.
I am a HUGE fan of the little monster noises.
It seems like you got the foundation down for something greater. You could make something good by continuing development post-LD. Keep up the good work!
You seem to have opted out of sounds, but the way some visuals were synced to the music was really awesome! I couldn't last through even one song, sadly, I wanted to see what the next song was, or what happened after the first one.
The graphics are excellent!
Very fascinating puzzles. Quite difficult too, I think. In a good way. Either I'm no good at them or I didn't understand them well enough.
It's a very neat concept! I wish I had some friends to play it with right now. One critique though, I wish I could move the tetronimos from side to side a little bit easier.
I think you should be proud of this being one of your first games! Keep up the good work!
The sound effects really humanize the pixel. That was a nice touch. I think the controls are a bit slippery, its hard to aim your jumps correctly. But it was fun to play! Thanks for the game, and well done!
Neat game. It is almost like an interactive riddle! The compo version cried out for sound, which you added to the extended version, so that was nice.
Good job!
Neat concept! I seem to be really bad at avoiding the ghosts once I've encountered them.
It was fun to play, but the timer made it difficult to enjoy it! I feel like it locks you out from the later levels. I think I maybe beat the game? After a certain level the word "YOU" appears on the screen and then the game resets. Not entirely sure what that meant. But still, good job! It was satisfying to hit the target with with trick shots.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! We are listening to all your comments! :)
The graphics were really beautiful! It was a good take on the theme. "Space Opera"... very unique!
Very well done! I actually got really into it and I got pretty creeped out. I had to shut it off before finishing. :O
Absolutely hated (that's a good thing) walking into rooms, since you couldn't see before you did.
The sounds were very appropriate and added a lot to the game. It could have used a bit more direction though, I had to walk back and forth many times at a very slow pace because I didn't know what to do. Still, awesome job!
I think this gameplay would be really fun if it is polished and the problems already stated by others are fixed. Its seems like a fun game if implemented correctly. Keep improving it!
Very soothing experience. I felt a little lost, but I enjoyed exploring what the game had to offer and figuring things out for myself.
I like how it makes a sentence. I got really far before finding out that there's no way to die, but still, nice job!
Its a neat concept. It is very visually interesting. I feel like the "screen" (can I call it that?) doesn't update fast enough. So it is hard to tell what is going on. Although maybe that's just me not listening to TUTORIAL and going too fast.
The game also crashed on me during my playthrough, by the way. I was in the blue-looking part, and presumably I typed the exit command where I wasn't supposed to.
Still, great job!
Oh I was so close! The game is fun. Tensions build up as you progress. I personally had very bad framerate issues. Not sure if that is a sign of code inefficiency or a sign of me having a bad computer.
This is super awesome! I just keep on playing. One note though, I think falling into the ice is very unforgiving. Maybe it should make you lose one point of health, rather than make you lose.
Still, the quality of this game is astounding! Well done!
THAT INTRO BLEW MY MIND. The soundtrack was superb! It really makes the game even better.
Its a simple but fun game. I like the progression of music, that was a nice detail. I merely made it to 1:14 on my first try though.
So yeah, as others have mentioned, the lack of lighting makes it hard to play. However, the exploding enemies is a nice touch. Good work on that!
A good twist on a classic! I got a score of 47610. It is pretty fun. It is a bit difficult to make some turns without speeding past them though. Still, very fun, well done!
That was really cool. It's like a maze, but you can't see it all at once. Game design was strong too, you taught me how the whole game works at the beginning without telling me anything except for the controls. Awesome job!
This game is awesome in every way. The theme was really good, but mostly it's just a really fun game! The graphics are really cool too, how they mix the old retro style of bit games with new features such as lighting and particle effects. The artwork and idea behind it is clever and beautifully executed.
It's very challenging, too, which is great! I will be keeping this one on my computer to play for a long time, trying to beat it!
Really liked the particle effects on this one, there's something satisfying about playing this that brings me back to classic 80's arcade games. It's simple but challenging, and it works as a game.
My high score is 85, what a doozy, took 4 attempts to get that high. Would be fun to see varieties of squares later on, or power ups to increase damage or rate of fire or something like that. Overall though: cute and fun!
At the beginning, it was difficult realizing if you were affecting the branches. But the game had a nice atmosphere. I enjoy the wind sounds, and the tree background slowly getting left behind. Nice details!
The controls are a little slippery, but this game provide a nice challenge! I like how the number of shapes you can turn into depends on your health. nice job!
@fpwong, yes! That makes things way easier. It wasn't until after the jam was over that we noticed some people had a hard time picking up on that. A lesson learned for the next LD!
The polish in this game! So good. Nicely done!
The graphics are actually very nice and fit nicely together. And I like how the planet spins slowly when you aren't rotating it. It is nice to just stare at it for a little bit after planting trees.
The difficulty ramps up a little quick, but being able to turn only when you hit a wall provides some cool challenges!
I liked the graphics. Nice job!
Oh man this was a hoot to play! Really cute idea and great execution, too! I loved the sound effects that the little nutrient people made when they were matched with the right organ (and when they died in the acid or went splat), they made me chuckle.
Also it was a good challenging game, too! I like how the difficulty slowly increases. The learning curve is kinda tough at first, but after my second and third playthroughs I was able to make it to the ripe old age of 61!
Very nice game, hope you do more with it in the future.
It was a little difficult knowing when I had a powerup and what it was. But I liked how the players had smooth movement, and the little colored trail they left. That was a nice touch. Good job!
The game has so much juice! It feels very complete and fleshed out. One thing to note: I found the controls to be a little hard to grasp? To go up as much as you can, you need to press CXCCCC. I feel like it would be more intuitive to jump normally with C, and shapeshift automatically when going up even more. So you get rid of the X altogether? That might be simplifying it too much.
But don't let that get you down. Like I said, this was great. The game feels very complete and fun. Awesome job!
This is an awesome spin to the old classic. And the game itself feels great! Good visuals, awesome music and sounds. Sure, sometimes the snake looks a little weird while it eats animals. But this is awesome. Great job!
I don't know if the pixelated car and shapes was on purpose, but I thought it was a nice visual effect anyway. Good work!
Wow, this is such a unique idea for the shapeshift theme! Niiiice work!
I got a final score of 382. It was an enjoyable experience. I love the cheeky quips the customers had to say; they added a nice flavor to the game. I found myself guessing for a few combinations, but afterwards I was like, "Doh! That should have been obvious!" Like the fish. I should have figured that out instantly.
The gameplay is very fleshed out and holds a nice level of challenge. Because the game is already very complete, I will offer some above-and-beyond advice: Some of the obstacles require the player to essentially lose at least once because the information is not all there by the time you need to act. But to remedy this would be outside of the scope of LD, I guess. But again, this was great! Keep up the good work.
The controls were a tad slippery, but this was a great idea for the theme! I love the extra bits too, like the animated background and the particles.
I absolutely loved the step sounds. Especially the bear's. That was a lovely detail.
The jumps were very tricky, but its a very nice game. Good use of the theme. Well done!
Simple, but effective. The gameplay is solid and it starts right back up so you can just try and try again.
The gunshot sounds were a bit loud, BUT I loved how the music changed depending on your form. Well done, it was pretty fun!
Your game matters and it is important. Thank you for the wonderful experience. Keep doing what you do.
I survived 12 waves!
The concept is good, although the controls are a little tough to get use to initially. But good job! Keep up the good work.
Simple but complete and well made. It works nicely. Good work!
Lovely game. Pretty fun and relaxing. I want this on my phone!
What a spectacular game! So much detail and the music was awesome! Extremely fun, keep it up!
