the idea of exploration is good, it makes me want to see everything and discover what happen at the end :)

For a first game, it's work pretty great :)
My opinion is that feedback are the most important thing, so your game could win a lot with some "Wave 2 clear" or other stuff like that !
Ps: think of azerty keyboard too !
