Barter: the Game by crhallberg 2015-12-18T05:25:00
I like the concept, but the thought of retweeting these contentless tweets a lot sounds like a bad idea.

"This game is still In Development and is not currently playable." says the site
Very pretty; hard to control, though.
Really interesting, well made, great theming. Feels like a typing learning game.
This is how society works.
I don't know what just happened to me.
BERN
Liked the concept, just not a lot of fun to play.
Actually just a joy to play. I like sending people to hell. A lot.
Is the interpretation "if you're depressed, just kill yourself to get through"? That's what it seems to convey...
Still, mood was nice, I kind of liked the theming. But I can't give it stars for growth because of the perceived message.
Played again, all the way through, at the request of the author.
My score is unchanged after playing through the whole thing, but I wasn't that far from the end in the first place. The growth, I guess being, that you can lift someone else up even at your darkest moments?
But that also doesn't feel like growth for a lot of reasons I don't feel like getting into.
To be fair, my other interpretation was a little bit of a joke. But it did seem like what the game was conveying and could convey.
The scream was hilarious. Can't stop playing. Ever.
Because I'm still thinking about this game today, I'm improving my score.
Pretty fun game! Double jumping is a little finicky.
Eviscerated myself completely, made it to the end of the world, flew off into blue.
Interesting. Hard to tell what's happening, but interesting nonetheless!
It is exactly what it said it was.
Slow movement. But liked the graphics and liked the general idea!
Fun little physics game. You made what you set out to make, and I can appreciate it.
I think I might come back to this one after judging is over.
I don't understand the general point of this game. It controlled well but I had no reason to continue.
Fun little rhythm. Spacebar felt tacked on, though
Fun little choose your own adventure story
Pretty unforgiving with the checkpoints, but overall fun.
Lots of fun with roommate. Could have gotten way more vicious.
Interesting mechanic! Liked the idea, controls were solid!
Collisions were a bit weird, and the loud BAAA got a bit annoying, but I appreciate this interpretation of the theme a lot.
There's not a lot of conveyance explaining what's going on. The slide puzzle in the beginning, I didn't understand. I got the general premise of the slide, but what was the point when I could just put it right on the button? Was hard to tell where to go next.
Animations are gorgeous, love the music. It is a little too difficult though, with instant failure and no way to know how far line of site is. I also think the box takes a little too long to appear.
I like the message of the game. Cool to see games with a message!
Hi all! I see a lot of people complaining that there seems to be no game over or real consequence, so I wanted to clear that up. Eventually, if tenants don't trust you enough, they will end up moving out and trashing the place. It seems that I've made that feature too lenient! I also didn't have time to build UI for displaying a tenant's trust, so it makes it harder to make informed decisions. Definitely taking all this feedback to heart, thanks all!
@ryusui
Also, I wanted the make sure that the game got hard to manage as time went on, but because of the audience (Ludum Dare participants, who will play a given game for 5 minutes tops), I wanted to make sure you had a good idea of how out-of-hand I wanted it to get. An eventual full release would have a more forgiving timescale, but would also have more things to do than just manage requests.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! It's appreciated.
@naca @pandanym
Graphics are gorgeous, and I like the challenge. My only complaint is that it's too easy to accidentally get back on the elevator.
You have a whole keyboard to work with! No reason to make the player take their fingers off the controls. Otherwise, fun work! I like the art.
If you continue with this concept, you should make it faster all around. Could be fun with a good bit of challenge!
I really couldn't tell what I was supposed to do, and a lot of the UI was hard to read, but I can appreciate the effort in it.
Very simple game. Didn't really have a sense of progression to keep me going. I like the aesthetic though!
So pretty! So fun! Glad to have something a little more calm.
I like the idea! I couldn't get the hang of it because of the unpredictable piece shapes. Maybe sticking with the standard Tetris pieces would have been best.
Fun! I laughed pretty hard at the way the penguins flew off screen.
To answer your feedback on Tenant Chaos, there were penalties for ignoring your tenants too much. They would eventually move out, having trashed the place and charging you for the damages to the room immediately. I should have made that happen more frequently. I'll keep that in mind!
There's something good to be said about setting the mood you intend to set, so good job on that!
I really liked the art! And the controls feel pretty nice. If I have one complaint, it's that the jumps in the second level are more frustrating than fun. I know you don't die from them, but because there was nothing at stake but time, it just felt pointless.
But don't get me wrong! I like the game a lot. Look forward to your next game :)
I love the concept. Wish I could have used the numpad to enter values, though. Would have been just as stressful but maybe a little more manageable.
A neat idea! I liked chasing the germs. It would have been nice to have some way to know where the germs are so I could chase them better, and also some kind of visible border would have helped.
To answer your question about Tenant Chaos, I didn't decide to make a game about apartments until Saturday. I spent a lot of time thinking about what to do, and a friend of mine who works in building maintenance gave me the idea of more and more tenants meaning more and more complaints. So that's why I went with that.
This was one of the first ideas I had when I saw the theme too, but that doesn't discount what you've made here. The art style is really nice, and the concept is fun! This would be cool to see done multiplayer, maybe where the guards are first person and the robber is top down. It reminds me a lot of the Luigi's Mansion game from Nintendoland. Great work, love it!
Decent runner game. Would be better with more variety or difficulty scaling, though.
Would probably have been more fun with a little more leeway on when the item scanned. Having to get it exactly right meant things got out of hand too quickly. Also, I probably would have preferred no music at all, rather than the short loop. Still, it has potential! Would love to see a version 2.
The music is part of the intended experience, so it should be judged.
Most fun I've had while judging so far! Great work!
Love the art!
The drawing mechanic looks really good! I don't like how it always feels like you're failing when a few little scrimbles die, but I guess... sacrifices must be made!
Neat little platform shooter! One suggestion, maybe consider giving the player a way to charge up their blood meter when they're safe to avoid some of the waiting around!
I love the dialogue system in this. The way the thoughts pop up in the upper right is really inventive and easy to miss. Loved how it's laid out so you slowly understand what happened.
Fun to play! I like the almost Gameboy-Pokemon-TCG aesthetic. Would be interested in seeing this expanded more in the future.
