It definitely gets worse. Much worse. Good job though! I love management sims. I felt the consequences for playing poorly just weren't there. Maybe add more bad things that you have to pay for if you make bad decisions or just button spam.
Excellent game! I especially appreciated the high talent voice acting you guys used. Too bad I couldn't save them all.
I had a lot of fun playing this. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I kept getting a lot of small angular graphical artifacts. Not too distracting though. Good job with the gameplay mechanics. I found that I ended up just holding down the spacebar all the time unless I had a bad bounce.
Nice job. I liked your camera movements and the general aesthetic! The difficulty scaled a bit slowly, but I could tell things were speeding up.
Wow, I had to rewire my brain to get a hold of the movement scheme. It was a lot of fun and had a great aesthetic. Smooth as butter. I would have appreciated some sound effects or some chiptune-metal soundtrack. Great work!
Good job, I like the punishment mechanic, but I definitely got greedy and tried to go straight to the WTF bracelet. Judging from your earlier comment, I'm glad I didn't keep going after that. Jumping felt good, coin *DING* was satisfying, and you made good use of those 15 hours!
@binaryunit Oops! Thanks for pointing that out. The mac and Linux builds should now be accessible! @Siege Okay, thanks for the feedback-feedback! :P
@muromets I love those ideas! I'll go check out your game now!
Its just like real life! It would be nice to have some goals along the way, but I thoroughly enjoyed leveling up my PC to the point where even work reduced my rage. :P
Good job! It is a fun game, and I almost beat it too! I agree with Tiberiusuciu, sound would definitely make a great addition. Also, thanks for the feedback on my game.
-834.... It was FAR too late before I realized there was a penalty for slapping everything away. It scales pretty well and didn't leave me bored. It definitely got pretty frantic towards the end. Great graphics and excellent execution on a simple concept!
Good job guys. It works well! I really liked having an army of green minions. It would have been nice to have more audio cues, especially when the player looses health. I look forwards to seeing what you guys make next time! Oh! and thanks for the review!
They are everywhere!!! Of the games I've played this Jam, my favorites have always been the ones to give me an ever growing sense of panic. Congratulations on making me panic yet again! Excellent art and music. It would have been nice if there had been some sort of prompt showing that you can move the heat lamp though. It took me a while to figure out how.
Its really good! Addictive too. You should totally polish it up a bit more and release it! The simple, colorful, and angular art style works really well. My only criticism is that I think that the levels progressed too fast later on (5+ shapes).
Very fun little stealth game. I ALMOST had enough to win! I really like the progress indicator between levels. I had to copy a UnityPlayer.dll from my game for it to work though. Might want to fix that ;)
1500 points! (Is that good?) Good job on the game. I really liked the diversity of the environments and the unique perspective. The space one was my favorite, followed by the desert. Good soundtrack too. It would have been nice to have more of an indication as to how close I was to losing. Also, I'm not sure though on how the theme ties into the game.
Dang! A real tutorial! Thanks! Also I make a terrible mayor. I like how it starts off bad and gets easier the closer you get to inevitably loosing. Its fairly unique.
I dont know why, but I love clicker games. Bravo, and I appreciate the humor a lot. Too bad my nice swimming suit rolled away.
Good job! Simple game, but very well executed. My only critique is that it starts a bit slow. Otomata? Never used it before. Ill have to give it a try. Thanks!
Dude! Good job with this one! I hope you had a good first experience with Unreal. I'll have to try that sometime. The gameplay was solid and even though I expected the physics to break and send one of my essential blocks through a wall, nothing of the sort happened. A very strong entry for this Ludum Dare. There was good level design too. If only you had time to make more artistically arranged levels like the one with the block house!
Another fine entry into the venerable Nuclear Arms Saga. Todd Howard can go cancel Elder Scrolls 6 for all I care, I don't nee any other games in my library than these amazing titles. It looks like you guys have a lot of fun with these. It definitely shows in your work. The gameplay was fun and I liked the cut-scene too. Somehow though, I almost felt a little underpowered. Maybe longer lasting powerups or more solid sounding punches could help. I missed you guys in LD41, glad you are back! <3
Excellent pixel art. I definitely agree with @celdur that this would make a great party game. The music was great and appropriate for the mood even if the loop transition was a bit rough.
Good job! It is a very nice and polished game. The floaty and fast controls can be fun, but they are a terror when dodging those darn bouncing barrels! The art style was well-formed and consistent throughout and the music fit the mood well. The rolling spikeballs of doom seemed abnormally slow considering the overall pace of the rest of the game. All in all, I would only suggest some minor level progression tweaks and reballancing those gosh darn barrels! Fantastic job!
Good job on the game. I think I was only able to manage a score of 850 without *cheating*. The line clear effect startled me the first time it happened. The frantic rushing of the crate claws is fun to watch while I wasn't running for my life. Like others I also had issues with some of the falling block collisions. Nothing a little polish cannot fix. You might be able to heighten the sense of action by switching to a portrait orientation which would give the player more time to react, and reduce how much time the player can just stand still. Overall, an excellent submission.
Good job, you definitely fit a decent bit of content in a little bit of time. I agree with some of the above commenters, if you spend more time refining the game, go for some GUI polish. (I.E. Scrolling with scroll wheel, blanked out "use" button if you cannot use it, etc). Good GUIs are hard to do, especially with the level of information you are trying to communicate, but you did an excellent job with the time you had.
562 Points! Thats the best I could do.... Mad props to you two for making a game all in z80 assembly. Even more mad props for making a game that looks and plays well too. Now I want this on a cartridge so I can play it on real hardware! (Is there any reason it couldn't be loaded on with a flashcart?). Its a shame that you didn't have time for audio, but I would encourage you to add it later. One thing I noticed, the wrench pickups just prolong the level but don't give bonus points, right? (anything to pad my bad score). It was a nice touch to let you use the crates to slow yourself down, a feature that is unique so far as my past experience with runners is concerned.
Good job. I like the idea a lot. Its a shame about the 1024mb rack. You have a good core game loop going here. All that is left is to add some more goals, upgrades, consequences. It could make a cool 1st person tycoon style game. In short, give us more stuff!!! It would be a nice quality of life improvement to allow removing of non-full drives. Be proud! You did well!
Yes I totally agree with you @cincerteri and @andaron-noob. In fact, the first post-jam feature I added was re-positioning singularities (and a better way to delete them). Unfortunately that can't be the version that gets rated. Thanks for the feedback all!
Hey good job! You pulled off the NES aesthetic very well in both sound and graphics. It would have been nice to have some variation in the mini-bosses in each cabin as I was able to find a gap in their pattern where I could stand still and not get hit.
Great job! I thoroughly enjoyed playing this. I wasn't terribly good at it. Great use of an upgrade system to increase replayability. The game was simple and intuitive and leave you plenty of directions you could expand on if you were so inclined. The only thing I would change was that once I got into a groove placing blocks, there wasn't much other than a particularly bad sequence of blocks that could end my streak. Something that helps increase difficulty over time maybe? Forgive me if you already had something like that in place and I just didn't notice. Once again, good job. This is a Jam entry you should be proud of.
Great art style, definitely a cut above the rest graphically. I was probably more upset than I should have been at having to go back to the beginning of the game every time I died. The background music definitely added to the atmosphere, but the jump sound became annoying before too long (Just reducing the volume of the sound would do it). One idea that might be interesting would be to exaggerate your jumping height as you get bigger in each level (each level gets smaller??) which could lead to some interesting level design opportunities. Good job! The art alone deserves a round of applause.
Good job with your game. Graphics were simple and non cluttered. I ended up needing to grind earlier levels (something I never have had to do in a puzzle game before) before I could progress past level 5. Im not sure how I feel about that. More upgrades would be nice. I think you have a solid concept which warrants further work.
Dang. My friends sure can text fast. You should try to make an android build of this and play it on a real phone! I think it would be even better if you could use the touch controls for that extra level of immersion.
Hey, good job on your first submission. It took me a few trys to figure out how the game works, but I got it in the end. It is a solid concept with room for improvement and expansion. I totally understand your feelings about your first game. My first jam game was a total crapfest, but I am still proud of it. You did a good job, and next time I know you will do even better. I look forwards to playing your next Ludum Dare game!
Hey guys, great job. I'm totally a sucker for games with upgrade systems, and your's works out well. The icons on "Shrek's Lab" were self explanatory. I did have to use some trial and error to figure out how to carry more resources. I had difficulty clicking on the ships once I had multiple of them, but other than that the game worked flawlessly. I'm not sure where the theme quite fits in, but hey, space! From one space-game-creator to another, good job to you all!
Good job on your first Ludum Dare entry! I would like to return this magic stopwatch. It doesn't stop lava as advertised. Not sure if that is a bug or not but it doesn't seem to work when I select and use it. I couldn't quite get the hang of your multi-jump system, but I was able to make a lot of progress. Is the level endless or does it eventually top out?
Excellent execution and awesome twist on the theme. Simple music provides a good backdrop. I love it. I cant beat it. I would suggest some quality of life changes. It would be nice to be able to see either what the acceptable ranges for 4 resources are in some graphical form, or maybe even seeing how a creature's *given* stats would effect my levels.
Great job with the game. I really dig the pixel art. I will have to repeat a few pieces of feedback here. You definitely have a difficulty curve with enemies taking more hits, but it is so slow that it takes a while to notice. I would suggest tweaking your mechanics to increase the difficulty faster. Maybe increase the player's move speed? All in all, you did a great job.
Great art and gameplay. It was definitely fun! I would ask for a more visible cursor so its easier to track where I am shooting.
Hey, good job doing something in basic. It's not much of a game, but more of an interactive short story.... Which I guess is a game. Interesting way to tie in the theme of the jam. I did experience one bug, when I played through a second time and the main character died single and alone.
Excellent retro graphics and sound. I felt that the projectiles moved a bit slowly. I also had a problem where I could not teleport my gun anywhere or place a second scoop sometimes. Good job though.
Good job, I thought it would be a _piece of cake_ until I realized that I could only hold so many food items. That twist really made me think strategically, so good on you! My only feedback would be to add some more height between platforms. I found it nearly impossible to jump over enemies under platforms. Perhaps this was by design? Regardless, you did a great job!
Good job! I always intend to put some decent writing in my games but it never works out for me. I'm glad you found the time to liven up your game with some good writing. I did experience a crash though while using a laser gun against the cyber demon in the data center.
Impressive for the time taken to develop. My city wasn't very melodic and keeping up with the beat quickly devolved into chaos. Good job with the graphics and keeping the design simple and intuitive. You would be surprised how easy it is to mess that up. Might I suggest as a way of pushing the action along, gradually increasing tempo? I think that would elevate the grindyness of late game play.
Excellent art and diversity of bugs. Sadly I played it alone, but it worked just fine! Sound design was excellent as well, and the game overall was very relaxing. I'll second the input of @Rodrigo Denúbila and say that an ending of some sort, or a difficulty curve would round out the game really well.
Great job. The voice lines were a good touch and the game looked nice and clean. I did have a problem where I couldn't get my dude to move all the way to the right corner of one of the levels. Other than that, it played like a dream. Also, thanks for playing my game!
Good job with your level design. There was some great content and I liked the music. Almost didn't make it out of the bunker though.... I didn't realize there was another screen to the right.
I kid you not, my teammates wanted to make an dating simulator that involved the undead.... Maybe next time for us but you! Great job! I love the graphics and the audio too. The one thing that I think could improve things the most would be *diagonal movement* That would have really helped smooth out the fighting portion of the game. All in all, fantastic job!
