1500 points! (Is that good?) Good job on the game. I really liked the diversity of the environments and the unique perspective. The space one was my favorite, followed by the desert. Good soundtrack too. It would have been nice to have more of an indication as to how close I was to losing. Also, I'm not sure though on how the theme ties into the game.

The most fun I've ever had running through a sequence of collapsing hyperboloids.

I wish there were more environments, though, and that they didn't repeat so soon. I once got the burgerverse twice in a row. XD

Also, might wanna fix your screenshots so they show up properly.

doc-ill 2017-12-06 03:31

Thanks for the feedback :) I'm actually unsure why the screenshots aren't showing on your browser. They're showing on mine O.o

Nice game! btw screenshots works for me

tiberiusuciu 2017-12-06 04:20

The graphics are soooo good. It's soo trippy the space level too!

I enjoyed playing it, and the music is pretty good as well!

And same like the others, I got the forest level 2 times in a row

Good job!

This game is so trippy that I almost felt sick (in a good way). The graphics and style were really unique and it was so surreal falling into another world. The cell-shaded style worked really well. The gameplay was also really quite fun, however at times it did feel a bit repetative. My only other issue is that I found it really hard to tell when I was in trouble. I really found it hard to tell how small the sphere was or how fast it was shrinking. Other than that great game, well done.

fecalmancer 2017-12-07 01:14

Thanks for the feedback everyone! For anyone wondering, the connection to the theme is that the sphere worlds will shrink faster the more points you have. However, the shrink speed does cap out at a certain point to avoid making the game impossible.

tinykidtoo 2017-12-07 03:41

I really liked how all of the eyes stared at you in the purple dimension. This was a great visual effect. It fit with the rest of the game and the great trippy aesthetic. I found that the worlds shrinking wasn't really apparent until the speed ramped way up at the end. I had a lot of fun playing this.

Gotta love the fast food aesthetic.

My best score: 5100.

kingmatthew 2017-12-07 04:20

Good Job! I like how smoothly the transitions between worlds was. You also did a good job on the perspective inside a sphere. Made me a little dizzy, but I liked it!

ronanrory 2017-12-07 05:14

Good job! This game can be a little disorienting at first, but other that that the game is pretty great with the music, the transition between areas and the levels themselves. overall, good game!

megalink 2017-12-07 07:31

I absolutely love this. The concept is really cool! I really like obscure games like these. Very imaginative! Good work!

sand-gardeners 2017-12-07 10:35

Woo you really nailed the aesthetic of it, well done!

ebim 2017-12-07 11:54

Very well suited for the theme! :)

Level transitions are smooth, so good job with that also.

Randomisation could be improved via a "bean bag of some sort" in order to limit repetition of chain transitions and trippy levels. It was an intense experience to score more than 3500 and it doesn't feels much compared to @wareification :p

doc-ill 2017-12-08 02:11

@ebim That "bean bag" randomization idea is great! I'll definitely consider doing something like that in a post-jam build. Thanks!

GENIUS !! Freaking love it !! The graphics and cel shading are really nice, the music and sounds are good, tough lacking an evolution in accordance with the theme of the jam. The game is really dreamy/psyche ! GG that's an overall 4.5 stars ! Our game : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/the-darkest-light

https://i.imgur.com/J1u1nbd.png You never have to worry about being crushed by the world if you jump off of it :D

The way you make the world bend on itself is a brilliant idea. I really love bended space aesthetics, it makes this game special to me.

Music is nice, i like how you made portal sfx go in key with the soundtrack. As for gameplay, it feels like this game a bit too easy and there is not much you can do if you got bad RNG on the portal placement.

Good game, really fun to play.

saramartins 2017-12-09 21:09

This was a cool experience, a little trippy but fun nonetheless. I can't see the connection with the theme though.

The effects were really nice, walking on the inside of the sphere. The art really matched the ambience, but sometimes upon being too close to the 3d models their faces got all black. I felt the portals were placed randomly and it was really a lucky shot if you could make it in time. After the first 2 worlds, the game just kept sending me between only two worlds: fast food and pyramid ones. It got kinda boring just going back and forth between them, maybe you need to set the seed to the random? I also would have liked if there was some kind of evolution between the worlds, it was just running between them with no real goal, like seeing more trippy stuff (which can be something cool).

But overall I liked it, it was fun and the spheric world an amazing idea. Congratulations :)

Our team does a weekly indie gamedev podcast called Nice Games Club, and we just did a Let's Play episode where we played thirty-six (!!) Ludum Dare 40 games, including yours (which we thought would be awesome/terrible in VR)!
