This game was super enjoyable. The shooting physics were really fun to play around with. This game is probably my favorite so far. Good work!

conroy 2018-04-25 01:46

Check out our game man left you some ratings, good job, wish there was sound in the lvl though!

jaredmercer 2018-04-25 01:50

Hey, I didn't get a chance to play very much, I was having performance issues. I liked the idea, and I really love your art though. Let me know if it is something you can fix or something and ill come back and play it again!

omnipotentindie 2018-04-25 01:54

Absolutely loved the idea, and the game was really well made. Graphics were good, but there was some weird pixel scale stuff, and some of the game design was sub par

theomaniacal 2018-04-25 01:54

@jaredmercer Hey, Jared. Sorry you didn't get a chance to play! Are you using Windows 10? What performance issues in particular?

noahro 2018-04-25 01:58

Really fun game! Had a great time playing! The difficulty was very nice! Not too difficult, but also not easy. The physics were fun (rocket jumping mechanic)!

The theme's genres were a bit weak, as they didn't really effect gameplay; at least they were something different and gave the game a some-what emotional twist :)

I liked the story aspect of the game. Fun game! _Also, good doggo ;)_

jaredmercer 2018-04-25 01:59

@theomaniacal Yeah, I'm on Windows 10. I downloaded the Post Jam version, and the game started fine. Once I got to the first cutscene, the alarm was ringing for several minutes before the character woke up. I stuck through until the character awoke and my movement was very slow. If it helps, I'm on an Acer Predator Helios 300 laptop with an Intel i7 7700HQ, Nvidia 1060m, and 16gb RAM. I'm gonna download the Pre Jam version and try that out!

theomaniacal 2018-04-25 02:03

@NoahRo Thanks a bunch for the feedback! I wanted to intertwine the "depressed" moments more into the gameplay but overscoped a bit for my first LD.

theomaniacal 2018-04-25 02:04

@jaredmercer I think I accidentally neglected delta-time in certain areas, and it's showing on your laptop. Sorry about that buddy! If I get around to fixing those issues, I will let you know!

jaredmercer 2018-04-25 02:06

@theomaniacal No problem at all! I appreciate the effort either way! Once again, I love your art style, and from little parts of the game I saw, I loved. You did a great job, keep making games and I'll see ya next LD!

ryan-koning 2018-04-25 02:07

WOW, this game is amazing. you put me to shame with your beautiful backgrounds, excellent platforming and shooting mechanics, as well as a touching narrative. The art and game feel is insane for a game that was made in 72 hours. This dog is a v good pupper.

theomaniacal 2018-04-25 02:09

@ryan-koning You're too kind!! I slept very little during the jam and am elated to hear that it was not in vain!

conrad-etherton 2018-04-25 02:19

Really nice! Shooting mechanics were fun, I even managed to do a non-lethal run on the last level (... a couple people might have gotten shot but they're fine). Nice work!

theomaniacal 2018-04-25 02:24

@conrad-etherton Don't worry. The bullets just make them spill ketchup pixels. Still non-lethal in my book! Thanks for the feedback!!

ramza 2018-04-25 12:31

Nice job! I loved the art style and had fun playing with the mechanics. Kinda of a jet pack / shooter thing. It's too bad about the dog though...

siimer 2018-04-25 12:39

The game was really fun to play: the graphics and sound effects really came together and the depressing mood was really well executed. One thing I had problems with was the shooting: sometimes the bullets went through enemies, not damaging them. The ending was also a thing I liked.

theomaniacal 2018-04-25 12:59

@ramza Thanks for the feedback! By the way, there may or may not be a twist ending at the end (Definitely not a rushed way to finish the narrative.)

theomaniacal 2018-04-25 13:00

@siimer Thanks a bunch for playing and glad you enjoyed it! I noticed that too with the bullet-enemy collision being shoddy. Will look into it!

coldjets 2018-04-25 13:05

John Wick vibe is the best vibe !

robowarrior1982 2018-04-25 13:21

The depression aspect at the beginning of the story could be interesting in game (bonus malus speed etc)! The graphics are simple but make it very good and I like the concept of shooting that fly, it's fun!Sans titre.png

2018-04-25 14:41

Excellent job on the art. I had a lot of fun playing and can't wait to try out the post-jam version!! I thought you captured the depressive mood very well. Also - cute doggo :)

yetman 2018-04-25 15:28

Not sure if depressed or angry. The idea is really fun and I enjoyed most of the games. My main problem is that their health is too big so I had to stay in a distant place for long and keep aiming and shooting till they die which lowered the fun for me a little bit. The art style and sfx are really great and The story was really nice. Great job.

2018-04-25 19:56

Really cool game! I love the artwork, story, and gun mechanics in particular. The post-jam version felt a lot better, too. Amazing job! Woof!

theomaniacal 2018-04-25 20:32

@ROBOWARRIOR1982 Very happy you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing!

theomaniacal 2018-04-25 20:41

@Yetman Thanks a bunch for playing and leaving feedback! I agree with your points. The enemies' health seeming too large partially had to deal with bullets passing through their "hurtboxes". I tried to remedy that somewhat in the latest post-jam build. I also included headshot bonuses, so they die more easily in a gratifying manner.

As for depression, I knew that it would be difficult to capture in just a short game jam. I definitely overscoped that a bit and had to rush the depression elements, so apologies if it came off as angry! Again, really appreciate the feedback!

lereveur 2018-04-25 22:29

As I promise, I play your game, and I don't regret it : it was fun and challenging, the mood was good, and the gameplay is an emotional release. Good job!

ramza 2018-04-29 19:09

I included your game in my Best of Ludum Dare 41 video. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/tRl137ouArw

theomaniacal 2018-04-30 18:12

@ramza Gave the video a thumbs up! I'm super happy you enjoyed my game!

ramza 2018-04-30 20:04

@theomaniacal It was one of my favorites. Great job on the game play and adding some narrative! It was really advanced for a Ludum Dare game.

arch 2018-05-01 01:48

Good job with your level design. There was some great content and I liked the music. Almost didn't make it out of the bunker though.... I didn't realize there was another screen to the right.

theomaniacal 2018-05-02 07:40

@arch Thanks for playing! Very good point getting stuck in the bunker - I should have definitely put some sort of indicator in that first room.

ponchoguy 2018-05-08 22:10

I played this on stream! Great game, with an interesting take on the two themes.

I loved the shooting the ground mechanic, the levels quickly eased me in as it was a rush to reunite at the end

One thing I would add would be the addition of traps, just having the mobs of people got tiring the eye after a while and it would be great to see different enemies/hazards to negotiate.

A stretch goal would be a level select screen for each levels just in case I wanted to replay a section easily and track progress.

But wow, what a great experience - Thank you for making this game!

theomaniacal 2018-05-10 07:00

@ponchoguy I'm very happy you had fun and appreciate the great feedback! Also, here's a totally not last minute pieced-together secret - go to C:/Users/your username/AppData/Local/ludumdare/Save.sav. This file lets you choose the level when clicking "Continue" in the main menu (e.g. Enter "5" and save the .sav file to play the first outside level). Far from perfect, but it's there if a level needs more love!
