Interesting puzzle mechanics and very well polished! Nice use of the theme as well :)

Interesting puzzle mechanics and very well polished! Nice use of the theme as well :)
Neat cohesive visual style and feels very well-polished. Great use of the theme with the tearing paper effect as well. Nicely done all around :)
Wow, this was excellent! Great atmosphere, clever use of the theme, solid mechanics, and a story that felt complete and satisfying even if short. Very well done all around :)
Really neat concept! I kept blowing up too much of the road to be able to make it through on subsequent laps, hehe. Great take on the theme and nicely done :)
Fantastic art and cool game overall! I enjoyed the mechanic of using the battlefield tiles to cast different kinds of spells, and think it would be really neat to see it expanded into a full game with that kind of battle system. Very nicely done :)
Very interesting mechanic! I like how it combines puzzle (where to put the black holes) with skill (how fast to make the ship go) and I found it to be a bit addictive to keep trying until I could get the level right. Nicely done :)
Cute art style and clever take on the theme! At first I thought the goal was to make a specific shape such as the constellation symbol in the upper right -- that might be an interesting puzzle mechanic to explore if you ever decide to expand on this idea further. Nicely done in any case :)
This is actually a pretty interesting puzzle mechanic. It admittedly took a bit for me to understand what was going on, but with the addition of some animations to show how the dice are sliding / falling / vaporizing the ones next to them, I could see something like this being a fun mobile game if you ever decide to expand on it further. Nice job capturing the theme as well.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to check out my little game! I really appreciate all the feedback and suggestions.
To answer the recurring question about the tree colors and strategy for defeating them, the trees are "immune" to spells of their own color, with the buttons at the bottom of the screen controlling which element you're currently using for casting spells.
(I can definitely see how it's not that obvious though -- kinda ran out of time for adding visual effects / in-game tutorials / anything else that might've made it clearer what's going on, haha. Lots of great ideas for polish if I decide to continue on this after the jam is over! :D)
Wow this is excellent! Beautiful art and clever puzzle mechanic that fits in perfectly with the theme -- I really had fun playing it with my 6 year old daughter. Very nicely done :)
Hehe, too cute! It's kind of fascinating how this game resonates with little kids though -- mine specifically requested to play "the snail game" again this evening, and we've beaten all the levels at this point XD
Great concept! I found the difficulty to be pretty hard and only sort of got the hang of it after a few tries, but love how glowy and stylized the visuals are, as well as the overall level of polish on the game. Nicely done :)
Really clever idea and great use of the theme! I was also relieved that the people's sleeping bags weren't flammable haha :D
Hehe, this game is hilarious!! Challenging controls but I was able to beat the first few levels and I love the little stick man animations. Nicely done :)
Nice take on the theme! I did find the controls to be pretty challenging since I'm not on a standard QWERTY keyboard and WASD are scattered all over the place for me, so having the option of using the arrow keys is always helpful. Good quantity and quality of level designs though, and overall seems really well fleshed out given the time constraints.
Very fun shooter! It feels really well-polished, and a great use of the "running out of space" theme as well. Nicely done :)
Cool style for the graphics! It was a fun game to try to get a higher score, although I kept dying haha. Nicely done :)
Neat concept, and great use of the theme! I might have to come back and try it again with another person or three, I couldn't seem to fully contain the outbreak playing solo :)
Cool concept! I found the controls for moving the ship (and potentially accelerating out of control) to be a bit tricky, but on the other hand that's probably more accurate to how it would work in real life than a lot of spaceship games, heh. The cargo management added a cool puzzle element to it and fit in well with the theme. Nicely done all around :)
Cute concept and adorable artwork for the foxes! I tried it first with a mouse and then pulled it up on a touch screen to try controlling both foxes at once -- it seemed to work well, though I did have a pretty hard time with avoiding the plants on both devices (it's harder than it sounds haha). Nice use of multi-touch though, and well done on the submission overall :)
Great concept! I wanted to play through it multiple times to see what kind of trades I could get and/or not get fired, haha :D
Interesting puzzle mechanic, I like how the different types of tiles have different ways of gaining points and you sometimes have to choose which to prioritize. I could see this working well on mobile with touch controls and animating the switching of tiles, and maybe more different level layouts and objectives (score wise) to reach on each one. The sound effects and background music fit really well and create a thoughtful and relaxing atmosphere while considering your next move. Nicely done submission overall :)
Really clever puzzle mechanic and a great take on the theme! The only issue I ran into was the scrolling thing a few people have mentioned, where pressing the arrow keys would sometimes make the page scroll up and down. I enjoyed the puzzles and how they ramped up in difficulty as you progressed through the levels, some of the later ones got pretty challenging! :)
Great use of the theme! If somewhat dark and sinister haha. The gameplay worked smoothly for me on Chrome and I had no problems attacking or dragging the bodies to the cave. The audio was nicely done as well.
Neat concept, it seems pretty unique! I had fun stuffing donuts into my little scribbler's face at the expense of its health (It just sounded so happy! And so grossed out when given the broccoli haha). Nicely done overall :)
Very fun little game! And perfectly captures the theme with needing to "sacrifice" certain awesome-sounding features in order successfully complete a game within the deadline at all. I somehow managed to make a really fun game with really terrible graphics haha

Great use of the theme and a fun little game overall! The only improvements I can think of are related to the controls, it would be nice to have the option to use the arrow keys in addition to WASD and maybe some other way of aiming the sheep. I did really like the dynamic of collecting gold / resources and then being able to spend it in the next town. Nicely done overall and especially impressive for a compo game :)
Cute pixel art graphics and great use of sound! It also worked well with the theme having the possibility to sacrifice some of your currency / ammo / lives in order to progress in another way. Nicely done submission overall :)
Neat take on the theme, I liked the concept of choosing a profession like "wizard" and then climbing the career ladder for it, and sometimes needing to sacrifice personal relationships etc. in order to advance further. The dialogue boxes did seem a little choppy (maybe they could instead either animate in smoothly or just pop all at once) but the dialogue itself was entertaining. Nice retro graphics and fun submission overall!
Great take on the theme, having to choose between what to fix when you have a limited number of workers captures the sacrifice feeling well. I did find the difficulty to be pretty high and wasn't able to make it past day 8, though not sure if I just didn't find the right strategy? Nice cohesive visuals and the sound effects work well to help alert you about what's going on.
Really nice little platformer, the sound and graphics are really well polished and the controls worked well. It did seem to get very choppy / laggy in between running out of time and getting killed by the lava, not sure if that was intentional (I was playing the web version on Chrome). But upon trying again I was able to find enough gems and launch the rocket after sacrificing only a few lives. Nicely done entry overall!
Nice use of the theme, needing to jettison items in order to keep a hot air balloon afloat captures the sacrifice theme well. Playing the web version on my laptop with 13" screen (1280 x 800) did result in it being quite a bit too large with scrollbars, so maybe a slightly smaller default size for the web version could be an improvement. Really liked the graphics and audio!
Great use of the theme and a really fun polished little game overall! I managed to avert the inevitable for a full 2:35 haha
Fun concept, it seems like the sort of thing that could be well suited for mobile. If you want to take it further, adding more levels with a limited number of "sacrifices" per level could be interesting. Nicely done! :)
Really nice music, it creates a nice atmosphere! I think I made it to the top and saw the arrangement of campfires, though I'm not sure if it was possible to go higher from that point.
Nice use of the theme, choosing what to save from a burning house (and being physically impossible to save everything) actually fits in with sacrifice idea really well. The game as well as the commentary in the description were amusing, and relatable because just finishing something (even if not very polished) is half the struggle in a weekend game jam. Congrats on making a simple humorous little game :)
Great concept and atmosphere. The first time I tried, two of the spirits said the exact same thing, so I assumed the third one must be lying, but I was either wrong about that or I chose the wrong person... Then on the second try, I was certain I'd figured it out, but when I went to select my choices it never actually let me put them in and got stuck on the screen with the pool sadly. I did really like that the puzzle changed each time though, and the music fit perfectly.
I really like the concept of breeding critters with different abilities and then using them to navigate a platformer world. I could see it having good potential if you want to take it further -- for areas to focus on I'd suggest streamlining the breeding process (maybe through a UI or some other visual way for comparing the monsters) and general polishing of the platformer levels. Nice job making a two phase platformer game in a single weekend!
Fun concept, the memory aspect was actually somewhat challenging! The visuals and sound effects seem really well polished as well. Nicely done :)
Amazingly well-made little game and perfectly fitting for the theme! I made it through to the end without running into bugs or issues, and thoroughly enjoyed the puzzle aspect of solving each level. Great work! :)
Fun take on the theme! It did take me a few tries to figure out what I was supposed to do, but I got it pretty quickly after that. It would be neat if you randomly got one of the Ludum Dare #43 theme finalists each time and then had to decide on different possible ideas for each one :)
Great writing! I really enjoyed progressing through this and making the choices. Even though one option was the less caring / more selfish one in most cases, it was neat how they were presented in a way so that both options seemed reasonable and justifiable if that makes sense. Audio would be a nice addition if you ever wanted to expand it further, but still a very nicely done submission overall :)
Love the tower defense + virtual pet mashup! I was able to beat all the levels, though had a few close calls, which made it feel reasonably well balanced difficulty wise. I feel like some tower defense games have the problem of sitting bored while waiting for the enemies to go by, but this one seemed like there was always something to do with the addition of feeding your pet as well as expanding your towers. Solid submission in terms of gameplay, theme, visuals and audio - Great work overall! :)
Hilarious twist on the theme and amazingly polished visuals! Completing levels was easy but getting a perfect 3-star score was pretty difficult, and it was an interesting setup being able to play through the levels in any order. The audio was really well done as well. Super solid submission, great work! :)
Love this concept, I probably spent more time playing this game than any other LD46 game so far. Balancing wise, I seemed to always reach a point where my money ran out and I couldn't buy any more flower seeds or do anything else -- not sure if I may have been making bad choices or otherwise failing though haha. Great work! :)
Really great submission! The concept is very fitting to the theme, and it's fun and satisfying to play - I played it for quite a while wondering how a game about lawn maintenance could be this captivating, haha. The gameplay seems pretty well thought out and balanced, though I got to a point where I had purchased all the upgrades but just couldn't seem to keep up with the mushrooms and the moles enough to get to a perfect lawn - maybe some kind of mole / mushroom repellent purchasable upgrade could be a good addition if you decide to take it further? Overall though very nicely done, great work! :)
Successfully made it to the end on my second try! This was a joy to play, basically a tiny little RPG with two town areas, a handful of NPC's and objects to interact with, a dungeon, and even a boss battle of sorts - and even though it's fairly quick to play through, I feel like that's a pretty impressive amount of content for a weekend game jam. One potential addition / improvement might be a health bar or heart meter of some sort, I wasn't sure how close I was to dying at any point while venturing through the forest. The visuals felt very cohesive and were a good and effective use of the referenced asset pack I think. Very nicely done overall! :)
I really enjoyed the puzzle aspect and the amusing dialogue, and it has a cute and cohesive pixel art style. I admittedly died a few times before I successfully got the offering to the house of adulation, though it was satisfying when I did finally make it. Nice work overall! :)
Really excellent graphics, I love the look of the game and how polished it feels (from the animated sprites during gameplay to the lovely and atmospheric title screen). Gameplay wise I seemed to get killed by the monsters before anything happened to the plants, and felt like it could benefit from a high score or other type of reward system for keeping them alive longer. I also thought was cute and hilarious how the dragon was the most formidable enemy from afar, but cries and flees at the slightest hit haha. Very nice work overall! :)
Very fun and fitting to the theme! I saved the human using the four robot strategy, and it felt quite satisfying how the shots converged on the targets in that mode. The browser version didn't give me any problems other than in full-screen mode where the colors messed up for some reason, and the audio and graphics felt really cohesive and well-polished. Nicely done overall! :)
Really fun twist on the theme! Aiming the attacks was a bit tricky, but I was able to get pretty far with the strategy of running away from the arrow shooting guys and smashing all the houses while spending the points on healing and upgrades. The graphics are simple but charming and feel pretty cohesive (other than maybe the keep itself could have thicker outline / generally more pixelated feel?) and the audio feels like a really good fit as well. Nicely done! :)
Beautiful visuals, and I love the concept and management aspects of it. I had a hard time keeping up with healing and fending off the enemies, but it was satisfying how your ship comes together and the shape of it is organic yet also clearly mechanical. Impressive amount of features for a weekend game jam I think -- Great work overall! :)
Really cute and funny take on the theme! I had a little bit of a hard time aiming the water at the fish, and the difference in the sprite when the cup of water was full vs. not full was fairly subtle (and without a sound effect or other cue there were a few times when I failed to fill it or already emptied it but almost didn't notice). The visuals feel good and cohesive with nice little polishing touches like the particle effects, and the audio goes with it really well I think. Great work overall! :)
Adorable concept! It seemed like the winning strategy in most of the levels was to keep one of the critters pinned to the wall while the other makes its way over, which could lead to it feeling somewhat easy, but maybe the addition of portals or other novel obstacles could help shake up the puzzle aspect? Super cute ending and charming visuals overall. Nice work :)
Cool concept and very well fitting to the theme. It was interesting how no directions were given up front but you're kind of drawn into it by the skeleton farmer guy serving as a tutorial. I noticed it was possible to go backwards when I accidentally exited in the wrong direction and got the dash ability again, then was able to re-do the dash level (though I ended up saving a lot more of the chickens on the second try so it was all good, haha). I ended up getting stuck on the stun level and couldn't seem to beat it after several tries, though I really appreciated how you're allowed to try again on the specific level you failed on rather than being forced to start over from the beginning of the game. Great work overall! :)
Very well polished controls. The art style actually went together really well and seemed to have a cohesive visual style even if very simple -- though I felt like it could've been a little brighter / higher contrast overall (not sure if just my monitor but it was sometimes hard to make out the platforms against the background). I really enjoyed the humor at the end and had fun with the game overall even if it was very short. Nicely done :)
The gravity well mechanic was interesting and actually felt like a pretty fresh spin on the 2D top-down spaceship flying genre. It admittedly took me a few tries to get the hang of the controls, though the tutorial was surprisingly well done especially for a weekend game jam. Fitting use of the theme as well. Nice work! :)
Neat concept with the grappling hook mechanic and ability to swing around -- though I had a little trouble with the controls at first and died a few times from getting shot while trying to get the hang of it. The pixel art graphics feel nice and cohesive, and go together nicely with the audio I think. Overall it feels like a pretty polished if fairly simple game. Nicely done! :)
Neat concept and quite fitting to the theme! I lived to the ripe old age of 100, and died peacefully in my sleep after a lifetime of administering medicines to myself haha. Gameplay wise I had a little difficulty with the mouse controls due to the cursor being much larger than normal and a little tricky to position over the buttons (though I played the web build in Chrome on a Mac). The glowy green digital UI had a nice cohesive visual style, and I liked the almost musical sounds that played when administering the medicines. Nicely done overall :)
