This game concept is really cool  Use map and space as mana is a really good idea and really innovative. Congrats
Great graphics and music) It reminds me of ye olde final fantasy. Great work
@gmaker What OS are you running and what videocard you have? Because it fails to allocate basic textures for rendering (And WebGL not only support RGBA format, it prefers it). Well, we clearly do not support outdated hardware in html5 version, but try to compile C executable today (with DirectX target).
Super game! I really like the idea that we're maybe the villain of the story, you could have pushed the idea a little further. Well done, nice entry !!
So happy to be one of the first to play your game! Whoever your artist was, please give them a big pat on the back for me because the art in your game is AMAZING. Honestly the art and animations for the game is what made 90% of my entertainment from playing your game. I really enjoyed the using the magic and managing my resources on the tile board. In terms of game mechanics I wish that it was easier to choose which tiles to use the magic on because "aiming" the indicators onto the tiles I wanted were somewhat challenging for the 2x2 magic spells. I also managed to kill the boss without the need for guard so I think you should tweak it so that there are situations where you will need to use guard. I managed to survive by just out healing the boss and dealing damage most of the time. Overall this was an amazing game and you guys should be very proud, this game is amazingly high quality for how much time we had to over this weekend.
@gmaker I updated the build, and fixed your issue (Turns out WebGL1 supports only POT cubemaps, and our cubemap was NPOT, which crashed the game). Changes: * Fixed cubemap breaking WebGL2 incompatible devices (linux) * Fixed healing/fire effects. * Changed default volume to 50%.
@yanrishatum Thanks. It seems to be working fine now! I'm so glad to have a chance to play this game. There's quite innovation concept in this game to use ground thing for casting. I also loved that the one is related to FF. Great job!
I'm not very good at these kinds of games, but I really appreciate the art and animation and the magic system. Great sense of humor in the storyline. Really felt like a parody of Final Fantasy. Great hair, too~
Amazing low-polies, funny story!
The lesson here is, folks: talk to each other, it's better for the environment.
PS: UI's not scaling on retina displays, I think that's a bug.
Awesome art and graphics! The humour was very good too. The only thing that I didn't like very much was the beginning of the game, kind of confusing.
Those graphics are amazing. Amazing job!
It's one of the best games I've seem on this LD so far, great job!
That's some nice character art and dialogues.
Looks very enticing from the screenshots, can't get it to run. Shame because what I can see looks super fun. =) Love the idea of taking the p*ss out of all those JRPG tropes.
wow this is so epic! the graphics is triple A! i'm proud to say that i was able to defeat the enemy (er, not really an enemy). love the character art and the ground tiles! confused at first on how to cast magic. the battle system is fun although i think it will be great if there is a way to regenerate ground tiles, so at least it won't mean that the heroes are destroying nature :D!
I liked it! I love finaly fantasy VII, +10 for that. Didn't know what i was doing half of the time but enjoyed it anyways!
Really awesome callback to FF7, gorgeous graphics and a cool twist on the usual turn-based JRPG battle. Sound effects and attacks could be more punchy. Selecting the tiles to activate can take a while if it is more complicated e.g. 3x1. Otherwise its a great game with a hilarious message!
That was a ton of fun. I was grinning like an idiot from start to finish. Give your artist a pat on the back. Thanks for making a great game folks.
Really fun game to play, brings back fond memories of FFT / Legend of legia! Pretty funny dialogue! :) Short game though, only one fight
Super impressive art and graphics. Short but sweet!
Thank you for your kind words, everybody :)
I really liked how the terrain adds a strategic/puzzle layer to typical JRPG combat mechanics (having magic either remove or transform tiles can have some really cool implications) and also serves as the obvious tie to the theme. You have something very promising here!
Besides this, the art style is lovely, music brings you back to the super epic boss battles of the classics from the genre, and everything in general seems super polished.
And last but not least, the narrative is wacky and subverts some of JRPG's cliches with some welcome absurdity. Well done!
This is one of the best jam games I've played so far, congratulations!!
Great job. Loved the art, from the illustrations, to the FF7 style character models. With a little work to the particles and some sweet camera angles when doing the magic, and baby... you got a stew going!
Fantastic art and cool game overall! I enjoyed the mechanic of using the battlefield tiles to cast different kinds of spells, and think it would be really neat to see it expanded into a full game with that kind of battle system. Very nicely done :)
Amazing aesthetics, loved it from the start! Just needed some time to figure out what's going on and to tame the targetting system.
Beautiful game, good job! Very impressive what you've put together in just a weekend.
I'm amazed by what you guys have done in 72 hours. This is a great twist to a turn-based jrpg battle, It brings a new layer of strategy into the mix! I don't normally like the classic jrpg battle, but this, this I would play. Also love the story and dialog that take a jab on those rpg tropes!
Nice idea the attacking mechanic, although the game is too easy and it feels like not much skill is involved in the battle. Tecnically I'm really impressed by how you absolutely nailed the FF7 feel: the style, weapons, animations and attacks are sooo similar to the original. I swear the evil(?) lady moves exactly like Sephiroth!
@dodoita Thanks for the feedback!
About difficulty, well, we made our previous game a bit too hard, so this time we focused on providing an overall lighthearted experience. This didn't stop some players, streamers included, from losing halfway, huh.
Well, I'm fine either way: and here I thought my "condition: defeat" dialogues would never be seen by anyone :D
Very cute :)
The premise is good, the graphics are superb, the music worked well, top notch presentation overall.
The writing deserves a special mention for being A-class B-grade stuff.
The gameplay though didn't really live up to the premise :( I really would have liked to see more interesting interplay in the way the terrain worked, if the players had to run around on them, for example. And I wasn't really sure if there was much interplay besides forests turning into fire tiles after use. Which seems pretty arbitrary, especially since there wasn't much else I saw in that vein.
There needs to be that full screen button for the web build, I had trouble fitting everything into my screen.
But a solid display of your powers :) Well done :)
The graphics are lovely and it's a great tongue-in-cheek parody of Final Fantasy. However, the gameplay was not very fun, unfortunately. Still a very solid effort!
Absolutely excellent entry! The hitboxes on the hex map were a bit difficult at times but otherwise the game was quite fun to play and the story was amusing. :)
The graphics and music were spot on! Great work of parody, and a well-incorporated jam theme. Started to run out of space just at the end, so I could tell this was well-playtested.
This was one of my favorites, if not my favorite game played out of over 200! Solid 5's all around. I actually shared this one with a few friends later and they loved it too. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 5:54 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
Loved the character portraits and the music. Felt like the terrain maybe could have been rebalanced a bit to allow more spells, but since it's a single battle (and I could scratch that itch with a replay) it's not a huge deal.
