Nice game, love the idea of paper and pencil drawings and Johnny making the sound effects.
classic style, classic gameplay, a nice combo!
Haha funny game, I like the idea and adored the sound effects^^ Had some trouble with the difficulty but that's just lack of practice I guess;)
This was pretty fun! Thought the theme was well thought of and the sound effects were quite quaint. The only constructive feedback I have is the enemies should be restricted to the same space constraints as the player is, they fly straight over the areas where the pesky little brother decides to rip out some of the paper. Well done mate.
Thanks to all who have played and commented so far. I appreciate all the comments.
@nerobius I thought of the same thing. I originally had the aliens restricted to the paper parts, but it quickly bogged down the game play. After all, if alien ships can get here, they probably discovered a way around that
Very solid! Pretty difficult though, I think the highest score I got was 90, but your story behind it, the graphic style, the sound effects Johnny makes, it just ties it in together so well!! I have no complaints except for the fact that I didn't think of it myself!! Great job!! Also, nice profile picture! Love King Crimson, in fact, I saw you commenting on someone else's came and the King Crimson profile picture was what landed me here!! :)
Love your way of adhering to the theme. Game play was a blast. the sound effects and how they tie into the backstory was very enjoyable. overall very solid fun gameplay.
The CUTEST game I've played so far this dare, OMG with the sound effects and overall concept. I found it difficult, only got to 90 but with more time I am sure would get a better handle of it. Seriously, adored the concept.
@schizoid2k you make a valid point. Who am I to question the physics of a UFO? They are beyond the realm of my understanding. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: If you get a chance, would you play my game and provide some feedback as well - it would be great.
BRILLIANT! I love how you fused every element of this game into the story! Speaking of the story, it's simple, relocatable and super freaking adorable. I had a lot of fun playing this and kept coming back to it "just one more time. I've totally Got this, now!" xD I loved it! Great Job! :D
@andre-van-zuydam @dominic-graziano @brallex @nerobius @zombie-virals @kyle-kaehler @lauren-kaehler @ratherjolly Thanks to everyone for playing my game and for the kind words! I am glad you enjoyed Johnny's Flipbook
Great entry! I love the story you managed to make. It looks great as it is, also the sound effects are really good.
The art, SFX, and humor were great! Asteroids-style controls are unavoidably floaty. Making the thrust stronger but adding friction (even though it's in space) might help. If you restrict the game to use the controller you could make it so the ship points in whatever direction the L-stick is pointed. This would give you a lot more control over the ship.
This is great! The map design is a super great idea and works really well. Everything is clean, the sound effects are fun, and the little animations for the ships are a great touch. I think maybe being able to hold down fire would be nice? Or maybe making the ship a bit less slippery? Then again I might just be bad. Well done!
Damn Johnny little brother tearing up the space! The graphics design are well done and stick to the game premisse, just as the sounds, which are hilarious. I think the movement of the ship deserves a little polishing in order to make it more precise, but it dont compromises the game. Good job!
I love this type of art style!!The game was so cute, and SFX were top notch and rlly cute. Overall very polished and nice entry goood job!
This was really fun! A classic done with a twist. I found the rate of the bullets vs. my acceleration to be a little bit frustrating. I quickly found that accelerating in a direction and then shooting was my main way to play, though I am by no means a pro at this game. But I do wish I had a bit more control of my ship.
Great choice on art style. Something that looks great and has charm while also being economical tomake during a game jam. Ditto on the audio. Thinking of a charming setting that enables asset creation to happen quickly was a very smart decision. Great work!

I love the art style and sound effects! I agree with others that the ship movement could have been a bit better, but otherwise I really enjoyed the game.
The ship movement is a little confusing, a little bit of polish on that though, and this game is awesome! Super original, funny, and well executed.
The graphics and overall style direction were well done! Very cute
@candlesan @matt-tuttle @annoyedcactus Thanks for your comments on the ship movement. I did tweak a bit during development to make the ship more responsive, and I was going for a "space-y, reverse thrust to move" feel, but I may have to revisit it.
A novel take on Asteroids, if I say so myself.
Oh man! Funny game, just too hard for me :P
Great idea and a great game! really loved it! original. the artstyle is amazing and the sounds are great. good job! could really make for a nice app!
Everyone is right, it's quite challenging! But it is compelling too - after losing I keep feeling like I've nearly got it for next time. But then I lose again! If I had to give this game a subtitle or tagline it'd be: "the best defence is a good dodge".
The tearing out of the paper mechanic was a fun addition for the theme, but it felt unfair that the aliens could go right over it.
I also found a little bug when if you crash into a spaceship you lose a life but no cross appears over the icon in the top left.
Well done, it's a nice one to play and the sound effects are very hypnotic and funny too.
@moonlightbomber @suchista @ely-shaffir @oddeyed Thanks for playing... glad you liked it.
@oddeyed I'll check into the bug when the player crashes into a ship... thanks for letting me know.
What a wonderful neat idea and so well executed. I love the concept, the art work, the silliness, the backstory, it makes me feel nostalgic like what I would do in school when I was bored. Solid entry, had fun playing it and enjoyed the delivery of it. :D
Neat cohesive visual style and feels very well-polished. Great use of the theme with the tearing paper effect as well. Nicely done all around :)
Impressed to see this was a compo! Unique art style, charming backstory & sfx, and the additions to the basic gameplay fit the theme really well.
Can't think of a single suggestion. I found it a little difficult too but I've always sucked at Asteroids. Seems like it's meant to be played in short sessions anyway. Very nice work.
The aesthetics and sound design are very nice, the paper stage was a very nice idea!! It's a nice idea of implement the running out of space with the ripping paper but it's still just asteroids would have liked some more creativity like with the paper rips.
Nice game! interesting graphics
hahahah funny game.... awesome sound effects!!!!
