I love the concept. Wish I could have used the numpad to enter values, though. Would have been just as stressful but maybe a little more manageable.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD40 → Debt Crisis

@siege Ye i tried to do that but it didn't seem like unity supported it. My original idea wasen't for the the side puzzle to be maths based, but i had to do it that way because of time constraintsIf i had more time (and was better at programming) i would've tried to make maybe a tetris styled or some other kind of side puzzle instead. Glad you liked the concept though, i was really happy with it myself.
Really interesting concept, and a really hard game :D I think it might have been a good idea to make the side puzzle easier at least initially, to serve as a bit of a warm up.
@cyberpunks Yeah the debts come slower in the beginning. The puzzles are really hard but it brings the player to a point where they can no longer keep up so they just ignore it all together. If you're really good tho, you can keep up for at least a minute before you get to desperation mode
I really quite liked the music, difficult indeed.. nice work!
Excellent game, good fun and very difficult. Would have been nice to be able to aim diagonally as well as horizontal and vertical.
Funny game, nice concept. You could almost use it for education :D Sound/Music was nice too.
Funny and original concept, I like the animation with the cloak, that's a nice detail. Music is good too, good work ! :)
Wow that's a really clever idea! At first I thought it was just a top-down shooter, because the instructions were a bit unclear. But once I realized you had to solve math problems while dodging bullets and shooting enemies, the game got 10x more interesting. Great use of the theme for sure!
The idea is brilliant, the music was great too.(Gotta get better at multitasking)
Congrats, Keep it up
funny and original, miss some extra feedback
Definitely innovative! Like the extra level of complexity that the debt mechanic adds, multitasking during something as intense as a bullet hell. Well done
Thanks for the feedback guys :)
Next time i will try to focus harder on polish, better instructions and presentation of the game, i think thoose are the areas that i could've most easily improved
My high score was only 70s! Gave it a few good tries though.
Gameplay was frantic and the difficulty was high. Difficulty settings help. I actually thought the polish was ok. There was ok-ish music, sound effects, and some neat pixel art. Buttons were clear although the info screen was a bit crowded. Use of the "o" key was a bit random. It was hard to tell how much of an impact each cleared debt had. More and more death robots kept coming no matter what I did. This made the link to the theme harder to interpret. The game had a cool classic arcade mood. Hope this helps :)
The mechanics of the game are simple, but it works. I liked that you visually kept the spawn points, it was a good choice, maybe it would be interesting for them to shine a few seconds before spawning. And with more feedback the game would look even better.
:flag_br:
Yeah, more feedback and being more clear with what's happening will be among the key points next time. For example, I decided to make more enemies spawn the longer the time goes on even IF you clear all debts, but increase the spawning way more if you started to stack up debts. This was to make the game harder, so you couldn't just clear the debts without pressure until you were overwhelmed with the amount. This would've led to the game being almost purely quick thinking and maths instead of the multitasking I aimed for. I feel like I achieved what I wanted but with my lacking presentation this information wasn't as obvoius as I would've wanted
mmm, fidget spinners.
Good job. I liked the art a lot. For some reason the bullets would randomly explode. Maybe there was a reason for this but it didn't really look like it. That was pretty annoying but besides that the game worked pretty well.
Hmmm. Nice idea, and indeed stressful. Cool music. Nice theme as well, I like the "suspicious looking fungi" ;-)
A bit of feedback when the entered amount is not correct would be helpful (e.g. flash the entered number red), and use of the 'o' key is cumbersome - enter would be my natural choice.
But definitely a nice job!
