A nicely looking game that could've easily expanded into something bigger. Unfortunately the button prompts for the interactions with the environment are rather fickle and sometimes don't seem to pop up, confusingly enough. Definitely sets a nice mood, though.

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-01 15:41

@shinmera thanks for the review :) i appreciate it.

zgragselus 2017-08-01 23:35

The buttons (as mentioned) are confusing. Apart from that I can't really say anything against it - animations are smooth, graphics is sharp and nice. Compared to other game this one has a bit more depth than usual jam game. Keep up the good work!

tero-pulkkinen 2017-08-01 23:40

I didn't get further than "look", "open", "look myself". All of them gave just some piece of text, and nothing else that I clicked didn't do anything. I hope there was some further thing after that, but I couldn't find it. :) Nice graphics though,

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-01 23:42

@zgragselus thanks for the feedback! Yeah you are right, the buttons are confusing. I should work on this project after the ldjam because I think It can be nice. Thanks again for the feedback!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-01 23:44

@tero-pulkkinen did you use the movement control keys? (A and D or right and left arrows). On the page where the game is hosting are written the controls of the game but Im going to edit this page too to add it on description. Thanks!

ledez 2017-08-01 23:51

Nice animation and graphics.

capitals 2017-08-01 23:51

The game looks good. I enjoyed the story however you might want to put the script through a spell checker. Graphics and animation are nice. Well done x

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-01 23:55

@ledez Thanks mate! thanks for playing it too!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-01 23:56

@capitals thanks for the feedback! I keep it on mind for future versions and game progress after ldjam. I appreciate so much your feedback!

stormforce02 2017-08-01 23:56

I was able to save the son in little under 5 seconds. When I realized what I had to do... gosh. What a powerful game.

bobsleigh 2017-08-01 23:59

Great graphics with smooth animation. The buttons where a bit buggy: the Move Right and Move Left buttons dissapear if you press them in a certain order. A sound effect or visual effect to acknowledge the button press would help too, especially for the safe. I couldn't crack the safe, I found a date but I'm not sure what to do with it, no combination works and I sadly gave up. A bit of spelling check would help the intro a good amount. Great atmosphere with the music. Good job on this game!

everbrave 2017-08-02 00:00

Really not bad. The date convention isn't the same as I'm used to, so it took me nearly 4 minutes to figure that out. And finally when I did somehow I moved the chair even FURTHER to the left and couldn't move it back, so I couldn't get access to the plant there. Pretty dark game. lol. I feel the mood was nice, but if my daughter's heart stopped, I wouldn't be just meandering around the office reminiscing about the past. Kind of fell short there.

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 00:05

@stormforce02 Thanks for playing it and for the feedback. Im so glad you enjoyed it!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 00:07

@bobsleigh Yeah, some people told me the bug with the chair movement labels. I keep it on mind for future versions and game progress after the ldjam to improve the game. About the safe password... the character said 2 tracks to solve the password combination: its an special date in 4 numbers (you can read it in Look->Safe and when you fail introducing the password). So... how can you put the date in just 4 numbers? That's the point to solve it :) Anyway, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate so much!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 00:09

@everbrave I got what you mean about the mood, its an interesting point of view, I keep it on mind, thanks for the feedback. And thanks for play it too!!

thygrrr 2017-08-02 00:22

Breathless. This is a dark and scary game, with some subtle humor in it. Definitely not for the faint-hearted, or those that believe in CPR :)

Likes: - beautiful mood and animation. so dark and yet so mellow! - the art and "lighting" is excellent - many details make this a really good escape room game - riddles are beyond simple click and go - that ending... both of them... and when you see it coming ...

Try differently: - some controls are fiddly to select, and the mix of mouse and keyboard may confuse people - there's a bug where you can take the award multiple times, yet never get out the window - (it's not clear if you haven't opened the safe that you don't need to get out)

Overall: - possibly the darkest and moodiest entry I've played so far. (and I've played a dark horror slasher, ha!) - really like the mix of escape room and point and click adventure - the character is very relatable and well animated

Great entry!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 00:28

@thygrrr wow thats a good comment, thanks! I keep all you said, i appreciate so much and its so useful for future versions and game progress after the ldjam to improve the game. I have to work on the bugged labels as you notice... Thanks for play it and thanks for the feedback!!

didactylos 2017-08-02 00:45

It feels strange to just stand around looking at things when your son is lying there unconscious. Beautiful graphics, though, and the sound fits perfectly.

Needs some work on the language and spelling. Maybe find a proofreader?

A timed game is a really good jam choice.

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 00:50

@didactylos Thanks for the feedback! Yeah the texts are really a problem. Im not native english and i dont really know how to speak or write in english. It sucks, I know, Im working on it step by step. I appreciate the feedback and thanks for play the game!

sebastian-m 2017-08-02 01:04

Nice looking game. The story is tragic but engaging. But I must agree the buttons are rather confusing, I couldn't tell what to do.

Possitives:

- Graphics are phenomenal, it loks great and animations are nice. - Music fits the mood amazingly - Awesome mood

Negatives:

- The game is confusing, you don't know exactly what to do.

But it's a great effort for such a short amount of time.

afroant 2017-08-02 01:20

Very atmospheric! The animations and graphics were sublime. I liked the item descriptions as well. Well done!

chris-coe 2017-08-02 01:20

It took me two attempts to finish the game. What killed me the first time was, uh... not reading. Yeah. Remembering reading comprehension when there's text and hints, it tends to help. WHOOPS!

So I went back and did it, cause I wasn't letting that kid die. And... so I didn't let him die.

Absolutely gorgeous visuals. Fantastic dark mood with a bit of hope for the future. Someone's future, at least. Good job!

carraka 2017-08-02 01:32

Excellent mood, I really liked the slow realization of what I would have to do to win the game. I had been wondering why the character was bothering to tell us about the fish's name when something much more important was going on, but it turned out that all the details were connected. Even knowing that the fish had a name and that the father didn't know that name became poignant somehow.

Some of the buttons probably could have vanished when they were no longer necessary or up to date with what was going on in the game. There also appears to be bug where if you move the chair all the way to the left, you can't access the plant anymore. Would also have appreciated some sort of feedback on whether the game registered that I was clicking on the safe buttons. I spent a long time trying to figure out the number, but I think that's because our cultures write dates in a different order. That's fine, but it just means it would have been nice to know whether I was supposed to cancel out every time I failed.

Well done on the atmosphere and story!

foxbuchele 2017-08-02 01:35

Hey Jesus, enjoyed the game! Here's some quick feedback:

Art was excellent (both graphics and sound), great mood and atmosphere. Animations on the protagonist were good as well. He felt fun to move around.

The game itself had several large bugs that have been mentioned above, such as:

- Chair getting stuck if you keep moving it to the left - Grabbing the trophy multiple times and breaking the window multiple times - Drain message staying after draining the tree

Additionally (just comments)

- The safe puzzle was rough. Since you can't guarantee your players will be familiar with your date format, you should consider letting the puzzle accept multiple dates in different date formats. Got stuck here for quite a while and ran into bugs while I was stuck causing me to restart.

- Seconding needing a proofreader, Twitter, Jam Discords, Slack, and Reddit are good for that.

- Small visuals bugs were jarring (clock getting to 4: 5 instead of 4:05, and the messages staying up forever), but not too distracting.

Nice take on the theme! I enjoyed playing.

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 02:07

@sebastian-m thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it so much. I will work harder after this ldjam to improve this bug stuff and make a better project. I keep on my all your advises, are so useful. Thanks for playing it and thanks for the feedback!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 02:08

@carraka thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it so much. I will work harder after this ldjam to improve this bug stuff and make a better project. I keep on my all your advises, are so useful. Thanks for playing it and thanks for the feedback!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 02:09

@foxbuchele wow thats a great and huge comment, I love it :D By the way, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it so much. I will work harder after this ldjam to improve this bug stuff and make a better project. I keep on my all your advises, are so useful. Thanks for playing it and thanks for the feedback!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 02:10

@afroant Oh Im glad you liked it! It means so much for me!! Thanks for playing the game :D

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 02:10

@chris-coe Oh I glad you liked it! It means so much for me!! Thanks for playing the game :D

krp 2017-08-02 02:14

The graphics are without a doubt, within the top ten for the jam. The story seems really good and interesting... but the controls have major issues. There is no feedback when click stuff. It isn't clear how clicking things matter. I understood what I was doing, but it just ended up feeling like I was clicking around frantically. This would be a really, really good game if there was just as much polish on the gameplay as there is in the art. I'm looking forwards to seeing what this game looks like after somemore work on it.

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 02:17

@krp First of all thanks for playing the game! Yeah you are right, I have (and i will do it) to work now (after this ldjam) harder to improve the game and fix the bugs. I just tried my best in my first project working alone. I keep on mind your feedback to future versions of the game. Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it!

ironfroggy 2017-08-02 02:30

I got as far as breaking the window, but I could only look at the tree, couldn't interact with it. Didn't seem like anywhere else I could go? But the atmosphere was great, the art was really nice. The premise was really unique for a game, and I'd love to have seen more of it.

logiraffe-shawn 2017-08-02 02:42

I felt like an idiot for not being able to beat it twice in a row, but I was determined to figure it out! Only now did I realize I kept getting stuck with the chair glitch. I kept the cactus safe until its time came this time :)

Overall wonderful atmosphere and experience!! Super good music and great use of the theme!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 02:43

@ironfroggy of course. If you open the safe you will get the Energy Transfersor and then you will start to drain the energy for living beings, also the tree. Im so glad you like it! I appreciate so much!!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 02:45

@logiraffe-shawn yeah Im sure you can beat the game!! Thanks for playing it and Im so glad you like it!

herniewise 2017-08-02 03:03

Good take on the theme and nice graphics! :)

plepletier 2017-08-02 03:14

The art of this game is amazing!!! The music is very imersive and you really stay nervous to save your son! I was confused wif the controlls. Good Job!

mattjx3t 2017-08-02 03:16

Despite being about saving someone from dying it was actually quite peaceful and enjoyable to play :D And on top of that the art style is nothing short of amazing! Well done

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 03:40

@herniewise Thanks for play it! Im so glad you like it!! :D

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 03:41

@plepletier Thanks for play it and for the good words! Yeah some people told me that controls are not so good so im going to work harder on that for future versions. Thanks for the feedback!

jesus-fermin-villar 2017-08-02 03:42

@mattjx3t Oh thanks for play it and Im so glad you like it! :)

ohmaigawd 2017-08-02 08:45

Nice game, visuals and sound really set a good mood. I tried really hard to figure it out but I couldn't. I figured out the safe, opened the blinds and did something with the cactus. Everything else just kept saying the same thing when I tried something.

bombjack 2017-08-02 13:48

Damw! I'm too bad on this kind of games! The art is really nice but I was not able to do anything usefull.

lishnor 2017-08-02 15:01

Great game, amazing graphics, and music. And wow really interesting concept of saving child. Great entry Congrats!

kapricorn-media 2017-08-02 23:04

Great entry! The art and mechanic serve the plot really well. Quick suggestion: You could make a small animation for the buttons when you click them, or show them somewhere. That way you'll know when you're actually typing!

valphera 2017-08-14 15:08

Such a great game! Congratulations, we don't see a lot of games that have a heavy story or that are more oriented on the serious than the easy fun. I really liked the graphics and the animations, but the room is maybe too small and it's a bit tricky to interract with the environment. Incredible work anyway.

sundr0 2017-08-17 13:31

Really great work! I liked the graphics and the mood, disliked the controls and the lack of feedback in general. I managed to finish the game and was impressed by the end. Well played.

derpyjish 2017-08-18 04:17

In need of a bit of polish here and there, but a nice little game. I'm surprised however that you haven't closed the 'humour' category, that ending was devastating ! Well done on your first project alone, I mean, working as a team is always great, but It's though work going at it alone. Well done!
