LD38 — A Small World

Goodbye, world! by chromableedstudios 2017-07-31T12:03:45Z

I'm just going to say what others have said pretty much. It's a fun game, but it'd be really cool if we could pick the number of players. I tried to play with another friend, but there's 5 "tanks", so it's a bit hard to distribute that. We were able to destroy the moon though, and carve a hole through the earth, so that was fun!

Robo Climb by pyrosneak 2017-07-31T12:20:46Z

Sorry for just repeating what other people have said, but I agree that the jumping could have been faster. It made it really hard sometimes to get to the next screen when it takes forever to get from platform. I really like the colors of the game, it feels very retro Mario. All in all, nothing really groundbreaking being done with this game.

So, I just want to say that I really like this game, and I think it's really original! I tried for a long time to beat Putin, but I think some bug prevented me from winning the match? He should have lost from having too many skulls. I'll post a screenshot.

I really love the idea of needing to connect to sockets to shoot, what a fun and original concept! Beyond that, the art, sound, and music were really great. What a fun twist to an old concept.

Wreckage by cogcomp 2017-08-02T20:46:26Z

Gosh, what a learning curve. It took me about 5 minutes to actually beat what I thought was the entire game, and then I had such a "That was just the first level" moment. I eventually made it to level 4, but died there several times and couldn't get past it. The art was good, the music was great, and the game was arcade-y and fast paced! I loved it!

Power Stationed by ReboundGames 2017-08-03T00:58:36Z

This was a pretty fun! Multi-tasking games are always great, and the overlaying goal that was kind of it's own multi-tasking thing was great too! Great art, and sounds were pretty solid.

Drawing with Light by boundtotheearth 2017-08-01T14:30:16Z

At first, I thought this was just a simple platformer, but I was so glad to be wrong once I got to the "end" of the first level. Making the player leave reminders to themselves is such a great and brilliant idea, and I love it! I had a bit of a system going where I'd put a dot above important ground bits, two dots above enemies, and a dot above and below a platform if there was a ledge. I really enjoyed the emergent gameplay here.

Infinitree by Quaternius 2017-08-03T01:43:24Z

Really great game! I loved the art and the music, and just really enjoyed your use of the theme. I got my tree to 76 meters. It took me a while to realize that right clicking grew a bunch of new branches.

Runic Forest by tjakka5 2017-08-01T14:55:29Z

That was a pretty interesting game! I like the idea of a fighting game where you can only use magical spells. I agree with BORB in that the movement felt a bit slidey, and I also felt like it was really easy to die. Another thing I wish for is a slow unlocking of all the spells over time. As it stands right now, there's no progress in the game. I really like the art, the animations, the voiceover, and the music, though, and I think this game could really go somewhere. Maybe start with weaker enemies like the slime, and unlocking spells and upgrading your mana as you go along?

3% | Power Saver by iseeicy 2017-08-03T05:31:33Z

This was a really great game, but I think Hell might actually be too easy. I beat it on my first try with a score of 2.4%, although maybe that was just luck.

Star Hopper: Crank by deathray 2017-08-03T02:09:02Z

I've been playing so long that I almost forgot to rate this and comment, so... I hope that says something. Really wonderful game, honestly. I made something very similar for this Ludum Dare but it's more of the combat side of things, so it's really good to see someone take the other approach.

2Dark4Me by kelbg 2017-07-31T21:32:27Z

Hey, I think your game had some really nice atmosphere to it. I really enjoyed the music, and that coupled with the player sprite (specifically the eyes) gave me a bit of a "children's horror" vibe (a bit like Don't Hug Me I'm Scared). I really enjoyed how you incorporated the pistons into the game, and gave the game good sense of urgency and timing when you're running low on energy thinking "Please just extend back out!". I think the jumping was a tiny bit floaty too, but that might just be me.

Rush by Shinmera 2017-08-01T09:20:56Z

This was a really neat and cool game. There were a couple places that I got stuck, and I think the lights always turned off way too soon, but other than that, it was a great platformer. I was also really happy that I got to use my gamepad.

Disaster On Nebula One by RAC-Games 2017-08-03T01:12:15Z

This was a pretty interesting idea, and I really liked it. Having to transport energy that you use yourself to the escape pod was really brilliant. The skybox at the beginning was pretty jarring, btw.

DOHMIERE by Jesus Fermin Villar 2017-08-01T23:56:36Z

I was able to save the son in little under 5 seconds. When I realized what I had to do... gosh. What a powerful game.

The Power Factory by Swifttech 2017-07-31T12:54:15Z

That was a nice, nifty game, if not a bit repetitive. It was certainly different. Here's the factory I had going for a while.

Hungry Sky by edmond00 2017-07-31T13:01:21Z

It was a really fun game, although I'm not sure if it has a win state, or even a point system? Also, I figured out that the lightning went were the lines indicated up top, but conveying that more thoroughly to the player might be a better idea.

Pylon Pressure by fazz 2017-07-31T12:38:20Z

I spent a long time trying to get 100% and I just don't think it's possible. >.< I'd really like to see someone try to get it! Really fun game!

The power of blood by Arknostik 2017-08-01T15:03:17Z

That was a fun little game! I don't know why, but every time you ate someone, I thought it said "Holy shit" instead of "Delicious!" =p. I liked all the power ups, especially the lightning. I wish the teleport powerup had a shorter recharge time. I felt like it was also really easy to run out of time (blood), and I could never survive for longer than 20 seconds, I think.

The Dictater by Don Fouts 2017-08-03T02:39:34Z

Ooof, my hand really hurts after that. Good game though!

Runnerbot LD39Entry by Pixel Game Wizard 2017-08-03T02:51:48Z

I think the game was a bit easy, but I really liked the art style. For your first LD, this was really great! I stopped with a score of 21000

Electric Car by eLeDe 2017-08-02T20:55:06Z

I agree with the others that the music was a bit repetitive. I also have to say that I don't think you can get to the finish with enough energy if you take all the correct paths. It feels like you're punishing the player for going the right way.

▲ c i t y ▲ by sanguine 2017-08-03T01:21:09Z

Well, the highest score I got was 122s! That was a really fun game. I'm honestly a really big fan of text adventure games, and you've seamlessly combined text adventure and 2D in such a perfect way.

I was kind of really sad that I couldn't talk to people anymore once you pick up the frying pan ;-;
