I'm super impressed. I think the plugged gun mechanic is very interesting, and I think you should have played around and explored it more. Loved the sound effect of the bird monster, and died every time in the fireball room. Great job
Very interestening mechanic! I just wish that the sockets circle would be bigger, so I could spend more time evading and shooting at the same time.
There was too much repetetive content for me, but still, this is a very cool compo entry!
Very Intuitive Gameplay. It is definitly a fun little game. The boss was a litte bit too easy. The red oreo enemies fire a litte bit too often.
Really novel concept and I think you have plenty of room to expand this idea with things like outlets on moving blocks or enemies that can block some plugs that make you move around more. If I can make one recommendation I would say juice up the gun and make the laser shots bigger and more powerful! The game seemed split between being in an unsettling mood and an actiony rambo mood and I think it can benefit from focusing on either one! Very nice game!
Great concept! The Boss battle for me, was pretty difficult i thought. But how did you make this in two days?!
I liked the concept. The visuals are great too. Good one
Awsome game! Love it!!
Brilliant game and incredible for 2 days work. The concept is fantastic and there is so much room for expansion.
Well done!
Very cool game! I loved it. I thing the plug mechanic is very unique and i also loved that part where you had to trick the enemy into hitting the rock. Good game
Nice! I really like that you need to plugin in your gun to use it! :)
This game was extremely satisfying to play! The combat was very engaging, as I became more conscious of how to position myself around the room to both avoid enemies and stay near outlets. The boss fight, while very well designed, seemed a tad short. The sound design was effective and I liked the art style too, simple as it was. Overall, this was an excellent game, regardless of its brevity.
I guess I'd die in a dungeon with a plug-in lazer blaster... I am super impressed at the amount of detail in this game for a 48 hour jam! Audio is great, as well as great graphics and fluid gameplay, and an overall cohesiveness that is really fun to play. Great job!
Very enjoyable. I like how the introduction serves as a quick tutorial, and the plug mechanic is awesome, though I have some nitpicks.
- The monsters took really random amount of hits to kill, or maybe I was that bad a shot, anyway, seems like something to think of. - Aiming was a bit hard sometimes and the monsters cheating through walls was annoying since the plug has a really short range. I died a lot :) - I liked the introduction, but maybe the hero could speak a bit more? It was pretty straightforward for me to find the three orbs, but I feel like he should comment on that.
When you walk into the room and there is only a rock and no plugs, but you have to solve this little puzzle somehow.. Now that what surprised me ! Kinda sweet and nice game. Good work.
Man that game is awesome. Love art, love music, love mood. Game mechanic is cool and can be expanded into something bigger. I liked that you didn't make me play from beginning after death. Keep it up!
I killed the Red Devil in the middle room by dying he never spawned again. Greate Game, wanna see more like this.
Loved the graphics and the controls felt really tight, the idea is really original, awesome job!
Loved the design. This is definitely one of those "This could be a full game" ones.
Nice one! Love the game mechanics. The big shots of the red birds can be duped by standing close to a wall. Since your shots are smaller you can shoot from that kind of cover while never being hit.
very nice ! i love
Excellent idea with the plug-in laser blaster, love it! The controls might need some acceleration to be super-smooth.
Loving the plug idea :D Solid mechanics, great graphics.
Maybe it'd be better if your battery runs out over time, but it's unlimited while plugged in to charge? Other than that, I like it. Clever idea, great artwork.
amazing idea of plugging the laser gun! nice graphics too.
Amazing job. Had some of my most tenses moments with a LD game yet. I'll remember never try to kill the three-eyed-demon-ghost red bird (Ted, for those close) with just on life... it is nerve wrecking kkkkk
Neat game! I reckon that different socket types would have been cool, i.e. sockets that move and require you to chase after them or sockets that give you different weapon types/effects.
Very good use of the theme, its a clever idea I haven't seen done before. Music had a really rad drum beat too, it was a good track that fit the mood of the game. I had fun playing this for sure. The mini map is a really important feature for this game, really happy you implemented it.
Nice concept and mechanic. Reminds me of The Binding of Isaac. So lots of fun to play and you did a amazing job putting all of this together in 48 hours. Thanks for the fun and for participating.
Graphics. Graphics were great, like the design of those ghost zombies and I specially like how the float over the wall. The main character also looks cute. 5/5
Innovation. It's the standard rogue like, reminds me bit of blinding of Isaac, but the wall socket is an interesting spin on it. 3/5
Theme. I think your idea is very unique and I wish I thought of it. 5/5 I like that charging the weapon was central to the game, you made this game with the theme in mind unlike some other people.
Audio. I like the track and sound effect. No real complaints going to score it 5/5 simply because audio is on of the most neglected categories in LD so just having good sound gets high score.
Fun. It's very fun because of it's length, respawn in a room when you die is good anti frustration..even though this goes against the very concept of rogue likes. 3/5. I feel like a little bit more challenge would have made it more fun.
Humor. Nothing funny here, maybe the opening where he says he forgot to charge his gun. 2/5.
Overall I think you can take this concept further than just Ludum Dare, different sockets like people said and different guns. Good luck.
This game is very fun, and the mechanic where you have to be near a socket at all times to do anything, kinda reminds me of real life :P
Kind of hard .. bug I love the idea of the cable to shoot :)
Really neat concept, and the level design supported the gameplay really well.
Great gimmick, well made.
Awesome game. The shooting mechanic is fun, but can get really annoying, especially when the boss spawns a ton of zombies. Level design is adequate. Music is good, but feels a bit out of place, SFX is pretty fitting though. Graphics are fine, but could go with a bit more polish maybe, but it's a 48hour jam so still really great! But hey, all very minor things! Its really great overall! Congrats on this one!
Really nice game. Great shooting mechanic. It's fun to play and a bit hard sometimes. The final boss was pretty easy in comparison to other levels. I like the soundtrack and other sound effects. Well done!!
Loved the plug-in mechanic! Got stuck on the first room with 3 zombies, though. Didn't seem like I could get through the door. (?) Could be just me. Still - awesome job!
the power outlet is a very good idea..nice game
Wow, this is one of the best and most polished games I played in this game jam. The plug-in-your-gun mechanic really works with the standard top down shooter mechanics and adds an interesting new challenge. The levels and enemies are well designed. Good job!
Great game, impressive work, love the plug system. One flow : no rating given the other devs...
I had so much fun playing this game. Loved the outlet idea that made for some interesting strategies, especially since the ghost totally cheats and jumps through walls. Good gameplay, graphics and mood. Great job
Really unique idea! Challenging yet fun, not too short but not too long either! I really liked it! It was a bit unintuitive to have to aim at the base of enemies, but I understand why it has to be that way due to perspective. Otherwise quite a good game!
As it is been said in the comments, great idea. I don't use to like this kind of games, but I enjoyed this one for a while. Even if there is some things to polish (as expected in a jam) it is really well put together, solid and pretty dynamic. Great work, good luck!
Really a good idea for the laser plug-in! The arts are fun and the game really works. I took a lot of fun playing! Well done!
Dang this is good! I got nothing to complain about. It hits all the sweet spots this kind of game is supposed to hit. Great job!
After 30+ review, my favourite game so far. The plug system is an amazing idea, it fits perfectly with the theme. The game is quite challenging, except the boss (maybe a bit too easy). It was fun, I really want to play more of it !
Agreed, the plug-in mechanic is a great interpretation of the theme, love it!
I like the concept but felt that it fell short on the theme since I could not shoot once unplugged. If I was able to leave the socket and still fire for at least 5 more seconds, that would have made combat more fun. Also, enemies took too long to die with no real sense of how many shots I needed to make. Overall, well done on the graphics, the game is responsive, and the sound fits the mood.
Great idea and overall outcome, graphics and sound fit it well! I'm having a hard time killing the monsters, it seems like I'm really bad at that! Maybe it could be a bit easier? Thanks!
I really love the idea of needing to connect to sockets to shoot, what a fun and original concept! Beyond that, the art, sound, and music were really great. What a fun twist to an old concept.
Really good game. Very polished and well designed. Graphics, sounds and controls right for the kind of game. Nothing to point out. Great work!
Really great game! The only thing I would change would be making the plug circle radius large so I could have more room to evade the enemies and such.
Awesome mechanic, great art, and sweet sound. Not really sure what else to say honestly. It's fun.
Nice work! I like the progression of mechanics through the game.
Great idea. Nice use of the theme. Awesome graphics and sound. The only problem for me was that the game was too easy. Like if the boss fight were more challenging, it would have been a complete experience.
I love dungeon games, very innovative and fun
Very good game, very nice approach of the concept, good graphics, quality gameplay, good audio, good mobs patterns. Congrats for the work !
The graphics are well done and with the music builds the dreary dungeon atmosphere. The gameplay is fun, and the concept is novel and well executed. The only problem I have is I feel that the turrets shoot and recover too quickly.
Overall, a fun game that builds on similar games with its new gameplay element (plugging in the laser blaster).
Very good job with graphics design, and basic idea with socket. Maybe you should add more weapons :)
Awesome comcept, but very laggy =( MAny stucks in the walls. Boss too easy. Easier than few sets of mobs in the game. But love the idea plug wallets to shoot!
Really loved this game. Very good idea for the theme. Nicely executed. Would love a twin stick gamepad experience (assuming you haven't done that yet). Excellent job.
Wow congrats really great entry, can't believe this was comp! I didn't leave that dungeon until every last enemy was dead! You made plugging into and out of sockets and simple thing very satisfying with the pop sound effect, such a nice simple mechanic well done. I liked how when you die you didn't punish me by sending me back to the start.
I think the key was pointless and the worst part of the game, making me backtrack all that way for no reason :/ Also it would have been nice to have a button to press to not let us move out of the circle so we can walk around in it not worrying about having to let it pop out.
All in all great work
This game is impressive. I liked the innovation of the game in where you have to be in an area in order to be able to shoot. I also liked the graphical art style and polish of the game. Though the game is pretty funny (especially with how the zombies look like and more importantly sound like) I feel it could be funnier if the main character said some witty funny comments. In conclusion, I liked the creativity and polished art style of this compo entry, but this game has the potential of being even more humorous.
Very nice game! I love the wall outlet mechanic lol. One of the best inclusions was the mini map though. Kudos for adding that. It made it a lot more enjoyable.
Hi, dietzribi! Really great Compo entry!
I like your idea, art, and enough polished level design! It is an amazing work. Nothing to say! It is intuitive and really fun to play!
If you will develop this idea, add more puzzles, make a better art and polish everything it will be a great production game! :)
It's a great idea)
One of the best I've played this LD, everything about it was great, and I don't think there's anything existing that you should change.
I would love to see the game expanded though, perhaps with a story mode, and randomized endless mode, I'd play the heck out of that.
Really nice concept, well executed!
The laser pluging-in is a great idea, but the shooting mechanic is deeply flawed. How the hell are we supposed to beat the room with 3 zombies, when a zombie needs 20 shots to disappear? Or maybe you're aiming hardcore difficulty, but jeez, stuck in the 3rd room, that game could use some difficulty progression. This being said, very good work on a 2 days work, it even has a tutorial. It's just not for me.
PERFECT SCORE FOR U
I liked the graphical style, but enemy's take way too long to kill i got bored because of that
Really nice and fun idea, but enemies are too strong for that type of gameplay. It makes the game very hard to play, because of that.
Wow, very cool idea for a game. The graphics are great.
Very impressive game for a 48 hour compo.
I liked the mechanics, good/challenging dungeon crawler game.
I feel that there were some areas near the beginning that were a little hard compared what came closer to end, but I certainly understand given the time limits of a game jam so I don't hold it against it
I played on stream, _(VOD: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/164456874)_ so you were able to watch a lot of thoughts live as I played. However I _**promised**_ I would come back to rate and give feedback. Any questions/comments use [@timbeaudet on twitter](https://www.twitter.com/timbeaudet). And **finally** a link to _my_ game if you wanted to check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/edrive
My name isn't Steve, it is **Tim**. The graphics are really nice, a few of the foreground items seemed to clash a bit with the background, mostly in level of detail say the brick wall was more details than character, or aiming reticle / key etc. But overall very pleasant graphics and coloring. The "oreo cookie" machine gun is awful! It doesn't die and was a serious killer to me.
The "zombies" (you referred to them as ghosts) seemed to take forever to kill. Like so many more shots than expected, they just keep coming!! I think I figured out the headshots were a bit better at killing but that was far too late into the game. Definitely happy you made it so you restarted a room when the player died since otherwise I'd have done the first rooms 100s of times and given up. The whole concept of the fun that needs to be plugged in, **amazing!** Really like this concept and it could be evolved into many bonuses/power ups: longer cord, auto plug in distance, briefly charged battery etc.
I was able to finish the game, after dying many times and wondering if I was going to need to give up on the boss fight. I'm not sure I was ever good at aiming and hitting baddies that I aimed at- but I won. I also liked that the oreo baddie was able, _needed even_, to break the stone. The zombies on the boss seemed to spawn VERY often. I did like that the boss had multiple means of kill me, the player. Tim.
But I got beyond him and the ending had a great feeling. Good job!
Good game but a little difficult.
Thanks for the HTML version Really inspiring... thank you!
Really good concept, Nice dungeon you got there. Very polished, just some issues with those infernal birds when they are near the walls. And I believe that the boss is quite easy (with a little more life it would do). Congrats!
I have to charge my gun; my phone can wait. Imagine if the weapon was a phone instead...
+++ The core mechanic of the game is one of the most ingenious I've seen this LD. The wall socket constraint is a solid foundation for a host of additional mechanics and rules. +++ My encounter with the red electricity enemy made the game more interesting. It made me stop and think for a few seconds until I figured out what to do. That was well done! ++ Spooky castle music coupled with spooky ghosts made the treasure search spooky. +++ The character art was amazing! I loved the animation for the ghosts (I didn't get too far in the game to see other enemies).
-- The environment art could be better.
Thank you for such a great game! I'm inspired to try out something similar.
Although the game on first sight, and mostly is, a relatively simple dungeon crawler, the socker-element is a very creative gameplay decision. That alongside with fitting graphics and music. Makes sure that Shekateka is a interesting dungeon crawler of just the right length.
Wow, I have a hard time believing this was done in 48h! Great production values, varied enemies, and most importantly, fun to play!
Amazing work for 48 hours solo! At first I thought to was going to be a generic shooter but when saw the plug and I had a "ooooooooooh" moment, really cool mechanic! Hope you take this idea further :)
Wow I really liked this one. Perfect length, nice art style, simple but fitting audio, cool mechanic, and balanced difficulty. Overall a very wholesome game, highly recommended. Amazing job!
I played the game and it was a great game, but when I saw it was a compo game I was like WHAT ?!? Great game is really cool, with a neat concept, the graphs are awesome, cute and well made, the gameplay is very good and it is very hard, which is good because makes you play a lot, the only bad thing is the shoot sfx, besides that one of the best compo games I have played. Great Job!
Wow, this is an amazing entry. Probably my favorite this far!! Great job!!
Hey! Fantastic! For 48 hours it's more than enough to make your players happy :) I like it. Great job, man!
Great way to shake up a stale genre. The strategy completely changed when you had to worry about defensive positioning like that.
Lovely graphics, well made game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6R1HDnk8EU
Pretty fun entry! I liked the graphical style - very Binding of Isaac-esque, although I will say that a more Nuclear Throne type of lighting rather than the smooth one you have now would have looked better in my opinion. The sound design was decent, although more punchy sound effects would be appreciated and the music was low key enough to not get annoying but good enough to set a nice ominous mood. The gameplay was pretty good fun, and I especially liked the idea of having to move from socket to socket in order to keep firing. It definitely made the game more dynamic and unique and it was a good take on the theme. My usual critiques with most LD entries apply here as well and they have to do with game feel. Adding screen shake, a split second freeze when hitting enemies, explosions, enemy flash, etc. would just make your already good foundation much more fun and satisfying (I'd suggest watching Vlabeer Games' video on the subject of game feel for more info). Other than that though, a fun entry with a nice mechanic. Good work!
While I thought the game was pretty fun, I really didn't see how the plug-to-shoot mechanic added much to the game. At its core, the plug-to-shoot prevents the player from shooting at certain parts of the room. The player is naturally forced to evaluate how the enemy AI operates, and attempt to manipulate it so that killing them becomes easier. This is something most players do with games like *Binding of Isaac*, though, so putting extra emphasis into AI manipulation doesn't feel like a significant shift from the genre. Instead, it just felt like it slightly emphasized a core aspect of that genre, while leaving the rest of it mostly intact.
I love the core mechanic, very funny and cool at the same time. Enjoy the mini map system you set up as well. Couldn't get to the two bottom corner rooms and I had 2 blue glow balls ;)
I think it's a combination of good audio, acceptable graphics and refreshing challenge that makes this very tried concept fun. Didn't play whole game, but I was slightly entertained, and I don't get entertained easily these days by games. gj.
Awesome job! I think it is my favorite compo game. I liked the every aspect of it. I'd definitely play it if it was longer.
Outstanding Game! Very well balanced. Graphics and audio were great as well.
The mechanic of having to plug your weapon into a socket to fire is unique and adds a whole new level of strategy to the game. The enemy and room designs are also nice enough to make the game feel fresh and challenging. I think it might be a little too hard, as the range on the cord is short and sometimes aiming to hit the enemies is difficult. Nice entry, it's quite polished!
Very nice. It was a bit hard. But i enjoyed playing the game :D
