LD39 — Running out of Power

Everybody Plays Golf by Omiya Games 2017-08-04T00:16:27Z

My favorite part is the part with the bananas after your energy replenishes for the third time

Abstract Demon by Knowledge 2017-08-02T20:48:25Z

I like the concept, a very interesting puzzle game.

The level transitions should have had an epilepsy warning IMO; I'm not personally affected, but there might be people who are. I feel like the transitions could be a little less over-the-top though, so perhaps the best thing to do if you wish to expand the game would be to just change it to something with less flashing lights :stuck_out_tongue:. Don't think that I had a negative opinion of the game just because of that though.

Plagued Station by Mr_Field 2017-08-08T23:09:42Z

I can't really say anything that hasn't already been said a number of times, but here goes

This really does seem like the beginning of a pretty interesting Metroidvania, and I actually would like to see it developed to a full release. There were a number of things I liked, from the diverse use of the gun mechanic, to the way the function of many things was implied by the environment so the game didn't really have a tutorial but still taught the player what to do.

Unfortunately while I was trying to get my last person I took the tram back to the main part of the station and remembered while I was travelling that I could press R to refabricate, which ended up breaking it. But that is my only negative, which isn't really much!

Shekateka by dietzribi 2017-08-05T02:53:09Z

I liked the mechanics, good/challenging dungeon crawler game.

I feel that there were some areas near the beginning that were a little hard compared what came closer to end, but I certainly understand given the time limits of a game jam so I don't hold it against it

Rise Shine Fall by ijona 2017-08-01T17:29:12Z

This game was really fun. As red-fan-games said I really like it when people go for something other than the obvious interpretation of the theme (in this case power meaning electrical power). Very innovative idea with a very nice aesthetic.

Static Shoes by drkr 2017-08-01T07:23:49Z

I like the concept a lot. The puzzle design was great .

If you go back to it, I would suggest making the character slide a little less when you slow down; I fell off a couple platforms because I expected to stop sooner than I did.

Breathless Parks - Running, out of Power by gonutz 2017-08-05T02:49:32Z

What's there is fun, but I feel it is certainly short to a bit of a fault. The best part was the "I have the poweeeeeeer!!" sound effect XD

Away Team by Joe Miller 2017-08-08T23:14:10Z

I liked the game, and the mechanics seemed to have promise in the beginning, but honestly I found it to be a little shallow when things really came down to it. I didn't really explore much of the possibilities, but I found that I could basically spam the small task on the left over and over with the same people and I didn't have any problems whatsoever. The only snag was when a few people got injured and I had to default to other members.

Overall it has potential, but if you want to expand it I would make a lot more levels where individual components are introduced one at a time. That should hopefully make the menus a little less overwhelming and give people a better idea of what exactly is going on.

Wires and Robots by MiltonNH25 2017-08-01T07:15:56Z

This is really, really cool! :astonished:

Very well done, and very well polished. I honestly can't come up with any constructive criticism right now, I really feel like you knocked it out of the park.

EDIT: So the only minor detail I can see is that on level 1 it tells you you can place wires with right-click and erase them with left, when it seems to be the other way around. Other than that, perfect

Doki Doki Magica by Sir Daniev 2017-08-01T05:55:39Z

The best part about this game was the aesthetics; both the art and the audio were very well done.

From a gameplay standpoint, the mechanics were decent. I was able to play it from beginning to end and not get bored with it. However, I feel like if you want to take this further in the future, getting more depth in the mechanics (power ups, more enemy diversity, etc) is definitely the first place you should look.

Automated Explorer by Aircraft Terrier 2017-08-05T03:01:26Z

Hi, it's Tess from TVGS . I loved the concept, very innovative and well put together. I can certainly see the old Legend of Zelda influence. The levels were very well designed and the graphics were very good.

As you said in the stream, it will be much improved with a map and a way to see what you've already collected/what's left.

I look forward to seeing where this game goes in the future .

Coffee is Power by Tyler Miller 2017-08-01T05:53:26Z

I enjoyed it, but it was a little difficult to figure out how to brainstorm. For those stuck: your hint is in the title.

When the world goes to hell, I'll be here playing Video Games. by Will Walters 2017-08-01T05:45:42Z

Man, there are so many good things to say about this game.

I really, really liked the story.

I liked how you had at least a little bit of gameplay to keep the player entertained, but didn't make it too distracting to keep the focus on the dialogue. Honestly, I think the game-within-a-game that you implemented was probably the perfect one to accomplish this balance.

The only constructive criticism I can really give is to use less well-known art in the future. I certainly don't have a problem with using art from the internet, but I feel like using someone as famous as Mokona takes away a little bit of the immersion in the game (not to mention that technically that Mokona sprite is probably not open source).

The Will to Live (a game about willpower) by twainwright 2017-08-01T06:13:46Z

@rigdonware @sketchycode Thank you very much for letting me know. I looked into it and I believe I fixed the bug. Hope it works, and if so, hope you enjoy the rest of the game

@fengol It was a bug, but it should be fixed now

@micito I like that idea a lot; I'll add it in if I end up doing a post-jam version. Thanks !
