My game stopped after one day. I really wanted to go nuts with my new friend named coconuts.

My game stopped after one day. I really wanted to go nuts with my new friend named coconuts.
Same as rigdonware, I liked the premise, and was all set to see how far I could make it. Nice concept, but getting stuck on day 1 is a showstopper bug.
I get to the night of the first day and then where's no more UI and nothing happens :slight_frown: Is it a bug or did you run out of time?
@rigdonware @sketchycode Thank you very much for letting me know. I looked into it and I believe I fixed the bug. Hope it works, and if so, hope you enjoy the rest of the game
@fengol It was a bug, but it should be fixed now
Interesting spin on the island survival game. A little music/soundtrack to give it a better tone would be nice, but any game that allows me to have a smiling coconut deserve some praise :).
This is a really nice game! The story and the fact that you can focus only on a few things each day makes it interesting. Some music would make it even better.
Interesting little adventure game. The writing was excellent, if a little long in places. THANK YOU for having a 'click to display all text' type thing setup. I wouldn't have minded a couple more pictures
Think I found a bit of a bug: A storm hit and blew away my level 1 shelter, but I also got the message that my fire was sheltered by the storm.
I liked this style of game, was really fun and a really cool idea. I think that if the game had some music in would make the game a lot better, so if you keep working on this, you should add music. Other than that, this is good. good Job
Great game, I really enjoyed it. It creates a tense atmosphere.
Only thing i would change, is at the start of each day, instead of needing to click through changes in every stat separately, i would like to see it combined, it's just a quality of life thing. Just put the numbers near the stats and text about what happened for that stat bellow it, or to the side like
Food : 20/25 +5 (maybe in green so it's more clear) You found some berries last day and there are still some left
or something like that, so the player doesn't need to click through all the dialogs
All in all, a fun game. Good job
@micito I like that idea a lot; I'll add it in if I end up doing a post-jam version. Thanks !
Well, that was depressing :P. I couldn't seem to do anything to increase my mood (maybe I should not have eaten the coconut...), but my other stats were well taken care of!
The narration got a bit long, would have liked to play more days and read less =).
Enjoyed this, good job!
Wow, I really liked it! It sets the mood very nicely, and it's a lot of fun. I like how each stat behaves differently and little story elements affect the gameplay from time to time. I died the first two times because I ate the coconut. There are few things I'd like to point out:
- There are a lot of misspelled words - Talking to the coconut friend doesn't take up an action, is that on purpose? - The end of the game is a bit awkward: dying resets it, but it seems to be glitched, as the stats don't show up. And when you win, the dialogue box tells you that you were reunited with your family and then it disappears, leaving you with the stats and the image of the island with no way to progress. I guess you didn't have time to finish it up, as it's a pretty minor issue. - I wish there were a stormy background, too ;) - It would make the stats easier to read if you had a transparent rectangle behind them, or something.
But yeah, I think it's my favorite game of the event, so far. Good work!
@Petzi Thank you for your feedback, all good suggestions!
That was an awesome little project!! I replayed it probably 3-4 different times trying to get different endings. It was a lot of fun to get sucked into the writing and the mood you were trying to set! Very well done!
A couple of comments though -- after my soul was sold, the game kindof soft-locked and I was stuck in a limbo of resetting with my old stats.
This is definitely in the top 3 games I have played for this Ludum. Very well done, keep up the great work!! :D
I think you did a great job for the time given. I feel like a little bit more music or sounds may have made the game feel more alive though but that is just my opinion. But anyways I think you did an absolute amazing job.
keep up all the good work and good luck. :)
Really great mood and story. The gameplay systems are well-balanced enough to provide an interesting environment for the story, too. I kind of wonder what would have happened if I gave in, but I made it! Woohoo!
The story was great! The random events kept things interesting. I was never rescued, but Wilson and I made it pretty far!
First time I played, I ended up giving in due to the lack of sleep. Second time, I was prepared and manage to survive the entire ordeal. I really liked how the odds feels stacked against you, but with careful observation of how the game economy works, one can find an easy solution around most problems the game throws at you. How the stats changed felt a bit verbose, though. I liked it!
