LD36 — Ancient Technology

The Safegaurd of Goldfinch Rock by Iseeicy 2016-08-30T23:33:00

@SirPhoenix07796 & @JK5000 I was able to fix these bugs today :)

I'm not saying it's aliens... by Boberro 2016-09-07T00:06:00

Wow, how'd you pull off that viewfinder on the UFO? That looks awesome.

The Wheel by MrErdalUral 2016-09-07T00:17:00

This was neat. I feel like the jumping could be tweaked to feel a bit better, and audio for the stone would have been nice. Otherwise, I enjoyed it.

Also: High-score of 560!

Ig-Knight by Pickens Inc. 2016-08-30T23:41:00

Sound effects and visuals are very satisfying! My only gripe is that it feels a bit hard to jump up platforms. I feel like you should go through them from below instead of it kind-of forcing you back down.

Pigtraptions by HawkSandwich 2016-09-06T23:54:00

I like the title and sound effects. Going through a menu to rotate though got a bit annoying after the first 3 times doing it. Another addition that would be good is the ability to speed up time, so you can quickly iterate on different ideas when trying to solve puzzles.

Buried Maze by Thirzen 2016-08-30T03:21:00

Very enjoyable game! One thing that I would change is the sound effect that plays when you pick up gems, and the loudness of the pot impacts. Otherwise, it was actually very satisfying to play. Blowing apart pots is surprisingly fun, and the lighting from the shadow dudes and torches adds a lot to the atmosphere.

The Marvelous Mrs. Marble by IQAndreas 2016-09-07T00:29:00

Looks pretty good. It needs more sound, though. A rolling noise and music would make this awesome.

The great catapult war by JK5000 2016-09-07T00:01:00

The sound effects are amazing. I didn't play this with a friend, but I imagine it would be pretty fun to do.

Dr. Sauce by dos 2016-08-31T00:03:00

This was fun. Sadly I did not get to see the ending because of a bug where the little indicator went red as soon as the time machine was ready. Otherwise, I enjoyed the short mechanics of the game.

The Collector by intXparts 2016-08-30T03:08:00

Cool idea and game. As others have mentioned, the sound effects were neat. The difficulty ramp is pretty high though, I was unable to make it past the second button (Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to you!).

Homecoming by adaFish 2016-08-30T03:01:00

I enjoyed the small little story that was told through items that were found. I enjoyed this very much! One thing you might want to look into is making movement speed a little bit slower. Another thing was that sometimes the look sensitivity felt a bit inconsistent.

Goblin Defence! by Senor Salty 2016-08-30T02:50:00

Sadly I could not get this to run correctly :( . I hear sound but it just appears as black when it runs.

Goblin Defence! by Senor Salty 2016-08-30T12:29:00

@Senor Salty I was running it on windows 10, 64 bit.

Ancient Ruins by ReyHax 2016-09-07T00:24:00

This was good. I liked the vibe it gave off, but as mentioned above it reaaaallly needs sound effects. Visuals were great and game-play was nice, but even just a little bit of ambient audio would have improved this drastically.

LD38 — A Small World

Cardboard Cats Online by Ilseroth 2017-05-01T02:56:01Z

This was crazy. I don't think I've ever seen an online game before in a LD (although I'm sure they exist). It was fun to pop in and see you online, and even learn the secret art of space magic. One thing that kind of bugged me was that if you were standing on a monster spawn and the monster actually spawned, it would instakill you. In the first two rooms this isn't an issue, but in the last one where you constantly need to kite around the 3 enemies, it starts to get annoying.

Absolutely fantastic work!

Fancy meeting you here by Local Minimum 2017-04-26T21:30:36Z

That talking sound effect is top notch, lol. And the gameover screen might give me a few nightmares. Initially I was a tad confused, but I figured things out along the way. Overall, it held my attention for a lot longer than I initially thought it would!

It's a Small World, So Let's Crash It into Things by simonhutchinson 2017-04-27T02:48:15Z

This is great. The scrolling effect really reminds me of some old PC games I would play as a kid. It evoked this really strange sense of nostalgia. Gameplay is fun, and the sound design was simple but effective. Good work!

Little Infinity by Kevin Barrios 2017-05-03T21:52:48Z

The audio work on this was outstanding. The sound effects were fantastic, and the music was catchy and conveyed the mood. Same thing with the visuals. Everything about the core game absolutely exudes polish.

Except for the movement.

The speed of it is fine, and the animation is cute, but I often found that my astronaut wouldn't move in the direction I was pointing. Sometimes it would work flawlessly, other times I found myself needing to offset my mouse from where I actually wanted it to go. It wasn't by a super extreme amount, but it was just enough to make it distracting. That being said, I didn't play the post jam version. It's totally possible that you've fixed this already.

Fantastic work on this. It was short but sweet as soon as I realized the game mechanic :D

Id's Journey by red-fan-games 2017-04-25T23:28:09Z

This looks super cool from the two screenshots, but I can't play it on Windows :(. It boots up, I hear some noises for a second, then OpenGL crashes, and the program stops responding immediately. If it makes a difference, I'm on Windows 10 64-bit. [Here's what the terminal looked like on crash](https://pastebin.com/YyFpMUyu)

Id's Journey by red-fan-games 2017-04-26T00:13:56Z

@red-fan-games That did it!! I'm playing right now - pretty cool so far. The mouse sensitivity is SUUUPER low though, to the point where even if I crank up the DPI on my mouse, it's still pretty sluggish. I'll report back once I'm done playing!

Id's Journey by red-fan-games 2017-04-26T00:21:57Z

That was fun. The atmosphere was super cool, even if it was a tad loud. Throwing the candle to find my way was super cool, which plays well with your mind trying to figure out whats in the dark. Took me a bit to find my way but it was pretty cool doing so.

That being said, I might dream about teapots tonight...

A Week's Passing by iseeicy 2017-04-30T04:05:46Z

@xxDOOMbox Did you get to day 2? Also, how would you suggest I tweak the characters to fit the style a bit more?

A Week's Passing by iseeicy 2017-04-30T15:35:08Z

@xxdoombox Ah, I see what you mean now. Thanks for the input!

Miskro by ghodan 2017-05-02T03:03:28Z

Just the adventure I needed to take part of. I saw this on Togis's stream and pretty much instantly knew that I needed to play this myself.

One of the only things I can say is that the collision detection when you grow can certainly be much better. I have no idea how you would go about doing that, but it's something that you should certainly look into.

For a ludum dare game, this entertained me for a surprisingly long time! It took me just over half an hour to find all of the treasures, and I don't regret any of it. Thanks for the great game!

The Last Colony by hekst 2017-05-04T15:30:48Z

I'm going to have to agree with everybody else on this one. The controls and difficulty ramp ruin this for me. Maybe I'm playing the game wrong? Smashing the ships into the planet was pretty fun (even though it causes you to lose pretty quickly).

Diminishing Lands by drazil100 2017-05-03T22:07:41Z

SO GOOD.

The player controls so well. It feels very fluid jumping from platform to platform. About half way through my playthrough I was wondering why it was called Diminishing Lands. I figured it out by the end.

Unlike other LD games, this one has a ton of replayability. The difficulty curve is nice, and the game requires skill, which makes your score ever more important (My highscore is 7800 as of now).

It's hard for me to really come up with things I don't like about this. I'm a bit biased because I have a huge thing for retro themed games, but even then, there's not any glaring issues (ignoring not having a menu, that kind of thing isint important to me for a gamejam).

I'm going to keep this one on my PC for a bit. Good work!!

Soleil by JoyFired 2017-05-02T02:25:18Z

This was fun for the first level, but as soon as I beat it, the game crashed and stopped responding. Unity created [this](https://pastebin.com/vrgsuBK4) crash log.

On the subject of the actual game itself, it was certainly a bit difficult (for the first level). As people have said above, the small green platform is too slippery, or is too hard to jump off. The rest of the level wasn't that bad for me. Every once and a while, in the air, you seem to move in an unintentional direction. This might have just been a side effect of the circular gravity, which was a fantastic idea either way. The music is spot on, and the main menu looked super nice.

Also, it was fun attempting and then accomplishing orbiting the first planet. Good work!

Rise of the Termites by Togis 2017-05-03T00:09:11Z

I had about an hour of fun with this. I'm kind of terrified of ants, so I wasn't quite sure how I was going to handle it, but it went pretty well. I found the first actual level much more entertaining than the tutorial (which I guess makes sense).

The music was really interesting. It's cool that it was computer generated. It sometimes had this strange melody to it, but it was oddly fitting with the termites. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not, but it was really cool none the less.

The only bug I ran into (other than termites) was when I moused over the queen in the tutorial, the tooltip for the queen and the tooltip for the nest would flash back and forth.

One thing I would change is how much the workers affect digging. I feel like they don't speed up the digging of a tile as much as they should.

Glad I played this. Thanks for the game!

Small Planet (Ganymede) by Bohdanko 2017-04-30T16:12:38Z

So - your game definitely needs a little polish. As the game goes on, even though the ships start to get a bit quicker, the gameplay still starts to feel repetitive and easy. You could easily fix this by randomizing ship speed and size, with small and quick ships being worth more than large and slow ones. Also, later in the game, you could alter the direction that the ships travel in - maybe some start coming from the side or the top. These are just my ideas (which may not be what you want), but hopefully you get what I'm trying to say. The game needs a little variance, or at least something to keep the player on their toes.

What you have right now is a solid base. You can build from it to make something much more entertaining (as long as you have the time )

Afterbirth by xxDOOMbox 2017-05-03T23:11:09Z

STOP

THAT

BABEH

I really hope that's an original sound file, because that is top notch. The game was pretty easy and pretty short, but it was fun nonetheless. I was a little unsure at first, but after beating it, I determined that I loved the concept. It's certainly a unique take on the theme, and that's not a bad thing. I was disappointed at the length, but all that means is that I wanted more!

Keep it up!

STACK by Doc ill 2017-04-30T15:58:42Z

WebGL was a bit laggy for me, so I just used the Windows version and it worked perfectly. I ADORE the way you used the theme. I was actually thinking about doing something like that myself, but I had no idea how to implement circular gravity like that. The opening cinematic gave the player a drive to figure out what would happen upon completion of the game - something that a lot of other entries don't have. I loved how the further up into the sky you got, the louder the wind would get, and the quieter the music would get. It made the climb much more ominous! Also, on the music: If you composed it yourself, it would really benefit from a drum track of some type. Maybe you could have it fade in and out depending on what the player is doing? One thing I would recommend is adding a title menu, and maybe another one after the player beats the game. This *is* the ludum dare though, so I completely understand that the game itself came before that kind of polish. Maybe it's something you add in a post-LD version?

Overall, the gameplay was fun, engaging, and bug-free. Fantastic work!

FUEL by KCreanor 2017-05-03T22:33:10Z

GUAHHHHHHHHHHH

You are playing with fire here. This game hurt me on a *very* deep level. Purely because I'm awful at it.

That being said, this was great. I'm astonished that this is a compo entry - you've done fantastic work! This could be a great mobile game, which should be pretty easy to port to with Unity.

I've only got one piece of criticism - I feel like the ship's origin should be placed near the back rather than the exact middle. When trying to fly away from a wall that you're parallel with, you immediately explode. That sucks. A lot. If you can fix that and add a few more levels, it could turn into a pretty nice game outside of the jam.

Good work!

LD39 — Running out of Power

Infinitree by Quaternius 2017-08-02T17:50:59Z

This is a fun little game. It would be pretty cool to see a mobile port, as it would be really easy to pick up and start playing. The pan out at the game over screen was really satisfying as well. Fantastic game!

Battery Penetrates by ToadieTechnika 2017-08-04T00:21:26Z

LOL THIS GAME

I can't even begin to imagine how you interpreted the theme like this but GG none the less!

Alienation by Robber 2017-08-02T16:41:30Z

Fun game. Everything was pretty polished apart from the spider's pathing, which would bug out a bit in the last room.

I'll take my 60.00 credits and get out I guess :P

THIRST by Togis 2017-08-02T17:14:59Z

The game was super polished and fun. I loved the game over screen. This is the type of game that's easy to pick up but hard to master.

Only have one nitpick, there's a small bug where if you complete a level while next to an enemy, that enemy stays on the enemy indicator on the left side of the screen when you first appear in the next level. It goes away as soon as you move, but that confused me the first time it happened.

Turn Out by Vovin 2017-08-02T17:40:20Z

This was great. I kinda wish the camera was unlocked and the controls would adjust as such, but it was still fun as is.

Asteroid Scavenger by Blueman 2017-08-02T17:25:26Z

This is awesome! It definitely has a case of programmer art, but the game plays fantastically! I kinda wish there was a long mode or even an unlimited mode, but either way it entertained me and my friend for a good chunk of time. Good job!

Catalango by Hikari Kyuubi 2017-08-02T17:57:31Z

Gravity is a bit strong, and continually jumping while holding down the jump button is a bit strange. Otherwise, concept was cool, the cat was great, and the music was fitting. I kinda wished that there was some notification to the player that they completed a level, as I didn't realize that I had moved on for a bit.

Great work nonetheless!

Let's go to the mall by Quixx 2017-08-02T18:04:26Z

I was initially turned off by the graphics, but the controls and game-play made that not matter at all. I love the concept as well, which I think has been probably the most creative use of the theme I've seen so far. I wish it had audio or even just music though.

Great game!

Indoor Haul by iseeicy 2017-12-05T20:16:24Z

@thx1342 hmm.. that's odd. Turning is supposed to be slow but not 1-2 degrees slow. [This is how it should be](https://i.gyazo.com/9c78331ba0a301b4cea0c8a3082b91af.mp4). What OS are you using?

Thanks for playing, btw :D

Indoor Haul by iseeicy 2017-12-05T21:48:22Z

@wheffle That's what freeplay is for ;)

@ghodan There is a sprint button! I forgot to label it in controls, but it's shift!

@thx1342 Okay, that's super odd then. I guess I need to look into that, thanks for the heads up!

Indoor Haul by iseeicy 2017-12-07T05:12:00Z

@drazil100 check out the 5-minute and Free play modes! Free play removes the timer completely if you want to spend more time just exploring the place.

Indoor Haul by iseeicy 2017-12-07T20:16:27Z

@drazil100 You still get scores on the other modes as well. The different modes act as a sort of difficulty, making free-play the easiest to get a high score on.

Interesting ideas, although I'm not sure I want to take the game in that kind of direction. I really like the vibe of an abandon place that's supposed to be populated (such as a dead mall). Something I'm considering is making it multiplayer and creating a team V team kinda gamemode, although I'm not sure that's realistic as I would need to revise a lot of my code to make it multiplayer friendly. Still, it's not completely out of the question. First I need to get my shopping cart to handle better ^^;

72CoCSD by Togis 2017-12-05T23:08:07Z

Oop, had a customer shout at me, turns out that I was typing the wrong response multiple times in a row. On top of that, the game seems to have [blue-screened my computer!](https://i.gyazo.com/2a99373fee65ed0a971543ec4a81ce17.png)

Good job on the game, cool and unique!

The Source Seekers by MuffinCookie 2017-12-06T18:09:54Z

This was a ton of fun! I lost pretty quickly the first time, but I planned out my run the second time around. Around a minute in I noticed that I had to move up to the first source fountain as my last two had ran out, and I rushed the last one to the best of my ability. I was killing enough seekers to get a new drain every few seconds, and managed to win with 0 SECONDS LEFT. Literally one as I was about to die. Great work! f23fc55bd12082002b94ac613efa5846.png
