LD39 — Running out of Power

Tycoon by dob 2017-07-31T21:44:06Z

I like it, but I also ran into the bug that prevents the enemy from losing if they have enough skulls. I also feel that there should be a way to speed things up once you run out of power, since there's not much else to do it seems. I also really liked art/mood it has.

Quoala by Goloso Games 2017-07-31T21:06:12Z

Pretty good. As others have said, it would be nice to have some way to speed up the dialogue . Also, I feel that it could have used some text-to-speech to simulate the directions from the GPS, but I overall I liked it. Good Job.

Will Power by William Derksen 2017-07-31T21:17:35Z

Surprisingly hard at the beginning, but gets easier as you keep playing. Took me quite a few tries but I managed to get to the end! Overall a fun and engaging game, and I would not mind if it were a bit longer or had more levels!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

The Temple of Falala by JCMonkey 2018-12-03T20:01:06Z

Good game, but there a few issues that have already been pointed out which are a bit annoying, like the hitboxes, not being able to tell where you are on the map, the apparently invisible traps (there's one on corridor to the right of the altar at the start).

Overall, I liked the atmosphere, the art, the music, which is simple but effective in setting the mood of the game. The combat can get kind of tedious quickly, as you always see the same type of enemy just with more hitpoints.

And another thing, the console keeps spitting this error:

ERROR: Node not found: enemytotem At: scene/main/node.cpp:1524

I don't know how it affects the game though.

JOURNEY by Syrapt0r 2018-12-04T13:26:45Z

Great entry! The visuals are simple but still aesthetically pleasing. The sound and the music go well nicely with it. The game itself is quite challenging and pretty fun. I also really liked how you decided to sacrifice game mechanics to fit the theme, it worked well and so you get bonus points for originality.

Space Station Gamma-7 by kelbg 2018-12-03T18:57:38Z

@jcmonkey @f4kethis Thanks for the feedback. I agree, the movement is pretty bad, it was not like this when I started developing it, but I had to change it because I was having issues with collisions.

The Lamb by f4kethis 2018-12-03T20:34:00Z

Found a bug where your character can get stuck at the start: thelamb_bug.gif

It happens if you jump as soon as the game starts, I think.

Other than that, the game is fun, has a nice atmosphere and graphics. I do wish the enemies didn't just appear so suddenly, it's hard to avoid them sometimes.

Floofs by kaeveris 2018-12-03T19:07:53Z

Nice work. The floofs do look nice. One thing that stood out for me though, is that the faster the platform moves, the harder it is to shoot at them, since the bullets don't go where you're aiming. Is that intentional or a bug?

Gossip by MattWagar 2018-12-04T12:31:55Z

This is an interesting concept. I do like the sort of comic style you went with on the buttons and dialogue bubbles. And nice use of the lighting to highlight the characters, it really makes them stand out.

The game seems to get stuck and show some errors if you click on a character before it asks you to. So you should probably check that out if you still plan on developing it further.

Leave Them Behind by RedE 2018-12-03T18:44:01Z

Nice work! The game is fun and a lot more challenging than I first thought, I made it to level 7 but couldn't get past that.

I noticed that the little triangle that shows which character you are controlling is rendering behind the characters themselves and the objects on the scene, which sometimes makes it difficult to see which character you have selected when they are all hanging.

Evil Cult Managment System v1.0 by Kszaku 2018-12-04T12:53:29Z

Wow, this one is really creepy! It fits the theme very nicely, altough I found the interface and the game itself a bit confusing, still not exactly sure what I'm supposed to do keep the evil gods happy. Good job on making it creepy with the pop-ups, audio and even the exit confirmation when you close the tab, that was a nice touch.

Dog Dog Dungeon by bubblewandgames 2018-12-04T13:55:39Z

Nice game all around, the visuals, sounds, music and level design are all pretty good. I got stuck on the last level though, I threw the dog at the door and it landed on the edge of the platform as my character fell into the pit, but the level did not restart nor did it seem to register that the dog had been saved.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

CardRacer by Smooth 2018-04-29T13:22:15Z

It's certainly an interesting idea, and the graphics are nice, but it would be really nice to be able to somehow influence the outcome of the card draw. As it stands it's a bit too random and I feel like I don't have any sort of control over the game. Congrats on getting it done, though!

Meta Defense by ragnta 2018-04-29T14:04:06Z

Seems like a nice tower defense game, but it feels a little too confusing. Even after playing a couple of times I still don't really know what I'm supposed to be doing. A tutorial level would have gone a long way to help players grasp the basic concepts. Altough a bit crude, the art is still charming in its own way. Still, I had fun playing it, so nice work!

Apocalypse Tycoon by javicepa 2018-04-23T15:51:51Z

Loved it. The visual, the sounds, the music, the gameplay, and everything. Really nice work!

I do wish you could have a bit more control over your followers, such as a "passive" mode where they just follow you around instead of trying to heroically shoot down a horde of zombies with a pistol only to be cut down in seconds.

FAST CRASH by tweedle 2018-05-03T19:57:51Z

Fantastic entry! It's evident that a great amount of effort went into this, and it definitely shows. I love the outrun/retro art style, and the music, the sounds, the actual gameplay, everything feels just right, just pure bliss.

Really the only thing that bugged me a little bit was that the questions seemed too focused on things like obscure laws of American cities and states, which makes it a little hard for us non-American folks : )

But overall, I still had a lot of fun. Really outstanding work, you guys rock!

FLAPPYKARUGA by mrnyarlathotep 2018-05-03T20:08:13Z

Pretty interesting mix of genres. The game was fun, it's quite challenging to keep track of the bullets, enemies, and colors while also not crashing into the walls. Love the sounds, and the spaceship reminds me of a Star Trek Shuttlecraft which is pretty cool. I kind of wish it had a somewhat slower pace, but still very nice work overall!

Tumblenaut by kelbg 2018-04-23T01:53:43Z

@corc0 Thanks.

The sprite disappearing off the left side of the screen is probably a minor bug with the resolution, as it doesn't happen when you play it in full screen nor did it happen in the unity editor, but I'll see if I can get it fixed soon. If you click and drag your mouse off of the game screen to where the character is hidden it should still register though.

Tumblenaut by kelbg 2018-04-23T02:25:58Z

@Potondo Thanks for the feedback!

I agree, if you're going too fast it's hard to avoid a collision. As you said, I probably should have added an auto zoom out (relative to your speed) feature to the camera. I just kept playing around with the physics values to get the movement right which at first was a little too slow, so I bumped them up but totally forgot about the camera. Sorry about that!

@corc0 I just tested it here and it does seem to be the weird unity default resolution that's causing the sprite to disappear around the left edge of the game screen. I'm not sure I'm allowed to upload another build, but in any case, if you or anyone else is having this problem just click the full screen button and you should be able to see your character.

Space Maths by mikedirl 2018-04-27T18:25:57Z

Nice game! It's a really interesting idea. I like the music and the sound and visual effects as well. Maybe the sprites could use a little polishing but it's still very enjoyable in its current state.

Ready, Deck, Go! by Cheesey Bob 2018-04-27T20:06:49Z

Good take on the theme. I was a little confused at first, but I had fun once I started figuring out how it works. It would be nice if there was a way to see your opponent racing alongside you, and also some background music go to set the mood. But still a pretty nice game overall, even though it might need some polishing here and there.

Nubes Pila by IDidGame 2018-04-24T18:31:43Z

Very cool concept. I really liked the little animations and effects, the sound and graphics are also pretty good. Took me a few minutes to learn how to properly charge the ball, but it's easy once you get the hang of it. Definitely had fun playing this, and I feel it could benefit from a survival mode, if you continue developing it.

HorrorGotchi by Spiffy 2018-05-03T19:23:41Z

Haha nice one, I liked it! Could have used some music to complement it, but other than that, it's a pretty neat little game with some very nice art and some creepy whispers to set the mood. I did run into a minor bug when I accidentally dragged the meat off the screen, and couldn't get it back, but restarting the game fixed it.

TD Racing by AllesKapaul 2018-04-27T18:43:16Z

I really like your idea of a tower defense/racing mix and I think you executed it pretty well, with the exception of the car controls. They feel quite a bit sluggish, making it hard to drive while also avoiding the projectiles from the towers, so if you plan on further developing the game, I think that would be a good place to start. Overall though, I had fun and I liked that there are different types of cars with their own unique playstyles. Nice work!

Retrograde by corc0 2018-04-24T18:01:09Z

Very nice, the sound and visuals blend together nicely to set up the atmosphere, and I also really liked the unique concept. A little hard to jump onto the smaller platforms, but maybe I'm just bad. Really nice work overall!

Just Like The Day We Met by Zinkler 2018-04-27T19:22:12Z

Wow, this is now one of my favorites so far! The graphics are pretty, the music is very nice too and matches the general "feeling" of the game well, I think, though it could use some sound effects to complement it. I also absolutely love the FTL style of moral decision-making that somewhat compels you to do the "right thing" even though you know it might have a negative impact on your performance in the game. Really impressive work, congratulations!

Two things I want to point out that I think would make the game even better, in case you feel like continuing to develop the game post-LD, are:

1: Hide the comm screen when there's no active communication going on, to make a little bit more room for the camera.

2: RTS-like unit selection, where you can select units by drawing a rectangle with your mouse, kind of like how you select files in Windows or Mac, etc. It just feels more natural and easier to use.

I bet that your CATS look good in the dance floor by agar3s 2018-04-24T19:17:07Z

Takes some time to get used to the rules, and it could certainly use some music other than the beat, but other than that, it's quite fun and the graphics are nice. I also think that it might be nice to have a time limit every turn, maybe as a separate mode.

Rhybot, Escape! by taviandir 2018-04-29T13:46:34Z

Really cool idea, as others have said before, this game begs for some music. I would also like to be able to predict the movement of the enemies somehow, it feels a little too random right now. Graphics are simple but nice and consistent. Beats could be faster too, but still, nice work overall!

TnT: Tracks 'n Towers by TheCze 2018-05-09T03:52:32Z

That was fun, nice work! The car controls are a little strange at first, but they are also easy to get used to. The graphics and the sounds and music are all very nice, but I feel that it could have used some more sound effects, such as when you place towers, when they fire, when you have enough money to place them, when you crash into a wall, etc.

I only played the web version, so I'm not sure if the same thing happens with the other versions, but the game got really laggy in the last wave of the first level, which made it very difficult to control the car.

Cat Pack by Potondo 2018-04-24T18:45:09Z

A little challenging but still fun. Nice work! As others have said, would be great to have a separate key for each action (maybe right click to move and left click to shoot?) to make ordering your cats around easier.

Gorkball Champions by T8kk 2018-04-29T14:10:00Z

These graphics look amazing. Really impressive to pull this in just a couple of days! The game looks pretty fun too, I would love to play if it had a Windows or a Web version. Please let me know if you port it!

Legion Academy (LD41) by LegionGames 2018-04-24T19:57:13Z

Pretty fun little game! It's kind of hard to hit enemies from afar, but it seems a lot safer than being up close. As others have said, it would be nice to have some music in the background and also hotkeys to speed things up a little and reduce number of clicks required each turn. But overall, nice work, I enjoyed it!
