LD39 — Running out of Power

Fallen by Linear 2017-08-04T13:01:44Z

Mood was great, I felt like I was up the creek without a paddle. So Kudos for you getting that atmosphere nailed - for me at least. Though it is very buggy, and very slow to run on my PC i did enjoy it, despite getting stuck in the walls a few times.

Nice game with a solid concept just needs some bug fixing.

Pet power is running out! by Ivan Sukhanov 2017-08-04T12:41:10Z

Very confusing to end up in your google drive, if you are going to do that in future I recommend creating a standalone folder with just the game inside (if you cannot create a ZIP that is). I got very confused trying to locate said game and ended up in a folder full of your development files.

Gameplay seems a bit broken and hard to figure out. Maybe work some more on the mechanics, while the art style is beautiful, it isn't everything. That being said the art is gorgeous and one of my favourite things about your game.

Night Terrors by mrsylar59 2017-08-04T15:49:10Z

Hey I came over to see what game you had made :D Thank you for rating ours and giving some feedback!

I love your game, you are right it is quite similar to what we did, yours has great music and I love the graphic style of the pixel art but feel it lacks some contrast of the PC on the background, minor nit pick.

Mechanic wise I love how simple the controls are but some of the collision detection is iffy, i was getting stuck in some places especially doorways, or get nudged to a different place. I like that you included pick up batteries to extend your battery life, we should have incorporated something like that!

Overall a very fun and quirky game, the music is very thematic and atmospheric. Will play again!

Disaster On Nebula One by RAC-Games 2017-08-02T23:22:01Z

It plays great! The level design gradually gets tougher. The music choice was great. That intro cutscene was delicious. My only gripe was the camera always wanting to be in front of where you're heading which would throw off my jumping.

Doki Doki Magica by Sir Daniev 2017-08-02T23:39:04Z

Really nice art, but somewhat predictable. Could do with more variety of enemies and I didn't really feel I was running out of power as pickups were so frequent. Really adorable concept though, very visually pleasing :)

MoonBall by CurseTats 2017-08-04T13:04:36Z

Very impressive first game, nice graphics and a really nice feel to the whole thing atmospherically. Definitley could use a restart button like others have said. Seems a bit too much based on luck also, so maybe implement something that involves our player knowledge instead of a guessing mechanic? Power loss is such that it can be punishing to go the wrong way. Maybe include some visual or audio cues to subtly hint where the player needs to go next.

Into The Darkness by Dark Fox 2017-08-04T12:27:23Z

Great game but I would have to agree with Togis, the installer really put me off at first but overall this is a nice little game.

Maybe adjust the rate that you run out of power, as it is currently very fast and the batteries do not seem to do much to negate this.

I like the feel of the controls, very fluid and simple. Didn't have to think too much about what I was doing in that department so that's a plus. Very simple concept was nice and the graphics are very nicely done, I think these fit the theme well.

Jumpy Car by Jake Rodelius 2017-08-04T12:36:02Z

It's a nice start, I liked the wind up mechanism for the car being tied to a button mash. It's a nice simple concept but I feel it could be developed further.

For example, the blue ramps seem like you would be able to speed into them gaining a huge jump if you are going fast enough, I was disappointed that they ended up slowing me down to a halt just by touching them. The physics are confusing there for me. I would also consider adding in hazards and/or power ups to help you maintain your speed. Rewarding players for overcoming the obstacles with something else than a distance record. The art style is basic, but it does the job. Though as an art nerd myself I would love to see some more fleshed out graphics.

Mechanic wise the game is sound, apart from the blue ramps I mentioned earlier gameplay is seamless and easy to understand. It would be great as a mobile app if you developed this further. Good luck!

Save the Hats by Gruhh 2017-12-15T15:17:49Z

Fun game. Little slow to begin with but it is fun. Visuals where amazing, lovely aesthetic. Music was a tad bland but enjoyable. Took me a few attempts to understand the balance bar but that's because I am an idiot haha. All in all it fits the theme really well.

It feels really slow moving back and forth, obviously you've got to balance the hats but maybe an improvement could be a burst of speed which makes it even harder to balance.

Jazzy Beats by Moski 2017-12-15T15:08:48Z

Top notch quality on sounds and visuals. What lets it down for me is the enemy AI. It really easily converts my recently converted fans without any trouble. It felt like the only winning strategy was to wait for my power move to reset and use that then run around. Rinse repeat.

Since the main focus seems to be music another addition could be mapping the music to the controls. Not an easy feat mind you but one for the future perhaps. Handling a large crowd is hard and it fits the theme really well but I don't think it was pulled off quite right.

Still a quality game though.

Kittie Reaper: A Depressed Cat Tale by jfraser314 2017-12-15T15:31:59Z

Neat game. Those are fast pigs!

Its difficult in that those pesky pigs are FAST. Other than that its a nice game. The slow movement I find frustrating but I understand due to the size of the levels. The graphics are cute, audio is nice and it fits the theme I think in that the more animals means more difficult which in turns means more depression.

Pretty good!

Rattendorf by NoAim91 2017-12-15T15:28:25Z

Amazing take on the theme. Very well made, very well polished. Audio was delightful. Aesthetic is top notch.

Stuff to improve, a smoother transition to night time. Perhaps a simple tutorial on how to build to begin with. The tip for building a lumber mill was helpful.

While I'm personally not a fan of base building games in this manner I can appreciate a damn fine game when I see one.

Virus Detected by NotSpaghettiGames 2017-12-15T15:37:47Z

Music was lovely. Controls are simple and the mechanic is deviously simple. Very good idea executed in a clever fashion. To improve you could add more variety to the enemies, in that they do different things other than having more health and shape.

Feed Them by Fis 2017-12-15T15:22:26Z

Very cute. It has a lovely art style while the audio is a little bland. No sound or any form of visual feedback on movement and jumping and throwing food makes you feel disconnected from your character. That along with all the characters looking similar means its easy to "lose" your character in the craze.

What I enjoyed the most was the art style and take on the theme. An amazing first try at this!

LD44 — Your life is currency

Daybreak Inn by Joror 2019-05-04T12:51:03Z

This is amazing! Would love to see a polished version of this. Seems like phone game material. Lovely musics. Sounds for menu interaction was great. Clean aesthetic. Just a stellar game.

Slime, Blood and Pain by Steffo 2019-05-01T17:07:19Z

What a lovely song! Art is consistent and great! The switching between attack and move was cumbersome. Perhaps including some screen shake/noise when hitting/being hit is what is missing. All in all a fine submission.

Leaving with Ladders by 100th_Coin 2019-05-01T16:21:00Z

One bug found. (not being able to walk back into the shop after teleporting). Not knowing that teleporting causes you to drop your loot is what got me killed, I probably skipped that part. But all in all, great visuals, very clean and simple. Audio was lacking and the tune never got old. Very well fleshed out game. Nice!

Greenback by Finn Truman 2019-05-01T17:24:18Z

Loved it. Best part is making it rain!

The Branch by Poffle 2019-05-01T16:38:21Z

Well made experience.

Black Market Crackdown by Silas Reinagel 2019-05-01T16:53:22Z

Very starfox/kingdom hearts gummi ship. I like the customisation. Visuals are consistent along with the audio. Difficult and somewhat slow to start. Good job!

EXO by Firesplash Entertainment 2019-05-01T16:47:36Z

The main menu and controller explanations where clear so great props for that. Audio was great for the enemies and guns. Very well made. Only improvement I'd like to see is the minimap showing the paths.

Deep Space by Curled Leaf 2019-05-01T17:20:09Z

Couldn't figure out which way is East so I just ran until I got bored. Amazing cutscene work at the start though.

Space Shooter Redux 2D by Heldernogunity 2019-05-01T16:56:22Z

Very simple premise. The easiest solution was to fly "behind" the enemies and just dodge rocks until you had a real strong lazer.

The strange Life of Bill the postman by T-Bo 2019-05-01T17:25:35Z

Adorable!

Under Wave by Riper 2019-05-01T17:03:22Z

It looked good but the music doesn't fit the tone of the game for me. A few things needed an explanation in game but all in all a decent submission. Nice!

21 Years by Xankill3r 2019-05-01T16:49:19Z

I like blackjack. I like the art. Solid submission!

Heart Sacrificer by Ruztan 2019-05-01T17:12:56Z

Took a little bit of messing around to figure out that double jump mechanic/bug haha. But nice submission!

Sand and Blood by Pedro137BR 2019-05-01T16:41:11Z

Pretty good! SFX on point, easy to pick up and play. Found it difficult to not get hit while hitting pesky birds. But fun still.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Sure You Can! by sidewalksleeper 2018-05-02T15:12:16Z

Very hard. At first I was like...why isn't just pressing Z working and then I remembered I am an idiot. Fighting game combos and platforming do not mix. Very well done! It got easier when I figured out you could just spam the bottom arrows + z and it would just about work. So maybe a method to avoid spamming it? But overall a decent game! Congrats!

Type Fighter: Turbo by megamasterx 2018-04-27T19:53:26Z

Kind of felt like the typing was irrelevant to the fighting. I didn't know when or how I was getting punched or giving punched. However, sound is great, typing is fun, art is beautiful. Tight game is tight.

63 Little Pieces by SamuelSousa 2018-05-02T11:29:51Z

I found this to be quite relaxing to play. Although some levels, while looking complicated where real easy because you could shoot your way to the end. But overall a good fit for this Ludum Dare.

Rude Bear Rogueolution by alexrose 2018-05-02T11:44:25Z

Not even sure how I killed the boss. But the music was awesome, the aesthetic was great, the feel of the game was fantastic. All pro's. Very fun!

Tumblenaut by kelbg 2018-04-27T19:45:10Z

A small arrow pointing to the right to begin would help. Was confused for a short period just spinning around. However the game feels very polished. A simple concept executed pretty well. Lovely music, lovely art and lovely spinning astronaut.

Just bullet: A turn-based hell by zeu31 2018-05-02T15:01:48Z

Great mix of themes done great. Music was fitting and the game-play loop was easy to get used to. Kept it simple and it paid off. Perhaps to improve on it would be to add in different styles of bullets. That and maybe some method of showing clearly where bullets and enemies are heading, so that its easier to predict movement. But top marks overall.

Band Battle Fantasy - A Turn-Based Rhythm Game by MartinTristan 2018-04-27T19:37:08Z

Difficult rhythm game is difficult. It has lovely animations and sounds and it is responsive. However some more punchy feedback on hitting notes would have helped. Often times it felt like I missed notes even when I hit them.

Tipio's Grand Typery by NedStormFish 2018-04-27T20:02:02Z

Lovely combination. Hard but fun. No cons except for when it bugged after I continued from the shop. The ratio? maybe got funky and the first sentence ended up behind the border.

Just Relax by plufmot 2018-05-02T14:50:19Z

This might be my favorite entry by far. Exceedingly chill, simple and straight forward. Music was a lovely loop. Other than some collision issues here and there I really enjoyed it. For future versions perhaps different a different tempo. But all in all a quality entry!

Snakes and Ladders: A Texted Based Adventure Game by argowen 2018-04-27T19:40:52Z

You've chosen two exceedingly incompatible genres and made it fun. Congratulations!
