Decent game! The audio was very repetitive though. Also, maybe don't use mediafire.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD41 → Ready, Deck, Go!

Hey there - nice job on submitting your game. I really gave this one a solid effort but it really really needs a tutorial. I had a very hard time understanding what I was supposed to be doing. I mean the basics were easy, I bought a starter pack and started a game, but the card management interface needs a tutorial to say "hey I see this is your first time, well you need a ship in your deck and at least 3 action cards" or whatever, it was very complicated. Overall though - you executed and released, so good for you man!
@morphine Thank you, that was really useful feedback and I'm glad I got it so early on - I've updated the description with some explanation of how to play.
5/5 man , you make good game!!!
Nice try on the theme but it looks like the 2 genres are indeed incompatible ;) => hard to be interrupted in the middle of a race but a card game almost nly about luck ;)
Funny idea to include the card shop in the game !
Not bad man! The game plays really well. I will say that I think the space bar would be a better option than the 1 key. The graphics could use some work, so could the audio. My biggest issue with the game is that it felt like there was no point. If there was some kind of goal to strive for it would be a lot more fun. Also, it seems like there's unlimited money. If there was some kind of currency system in place so that you win money from matches and can buy better packs, there would be an incentive to play longer. Definitely a good effort for 48 hours. If you had more time to add some other features this could've been an awesome game.
Very interesting concept.
I think your game is quite complete and complexe (not as a bad thing) for a Compo game. Nice job !
Really interesting. I love the idea of using deck building and card game mechanics to influence minigames or arcade games. I could see this growing into a really great game.
Good take on the theme. I was a little confused at first, but I had fun once I started figuring out how it works. It would be nice if there was a way to see your opponent racing alongside you, and also some background music go to set the mood. But still a pretty nice game overall, even though it might need some polishing here and there.
I love the idea of a racing CCG. I just wish the race and the cards were a bit more interesting.
Nice entry, I did think the 1 key was not really suited for what it did, I would have prefered a space, shift or enter key. You really pushed in a lot of complex gameplay for a compo entry, well done.
Kinda great game! The mix of trading card and space racing invader (for me it's more space invader than racing :D) has a really cool render. The sound-fx were funny, when the game starts and your player starts explaining the principle of the game, I wanted more!
It's good to have a large choice of decks, I only played 5 games, but I appreciated to differ in my choices on every of them. It could be nice to see the enemy's ship, but an IA is hard to implement I guess :)
Maybe having the possibility to play against a friend cool be a great feature?
Neat game. I had quite a bit of fun. It's a little irritating to have the time increase by five every single win -- it makes the game take a lot longer.
I'm also not entirely sure that visibility is working correctly -- my first game did not have too many asteroids, but by the fifth game there were a lot -- and about the same amount between the 1 visibility ship and the 3 visibility ship.
I think it would be neat if the cards you played actually increased your stats by that amount, or something to that effect -- sometimes I would not have any need to play a card, because I already had enough stats, which felt like a waste. (Although incrementing your stats could make the game a little too easy...)
The main thing I feel is missing is some kind of progression. You basically get all the best cards as soon as you want them, because there is no apparent limit on money, and neither is there any kind of limit on how good of stats you can get on the beginning. Some sort of ultimate goal would, I think, add a lot to the game.
I really enjoyed the sound effects, especially the card ones. They were really neat. However, I might just have strange taste.
@number6406 @TheMonsterFromTheDeep Thanks for the detailed feedback guys, I really appreciate it!
Balancing and progression were definitely areas I completely neglected, so I agree with your points. I was torn on how to do the difficulty, and ended up going for the easy-to-implement option of an arcadey, everything-gets-harder style difficulty curve. But this doesn't gel well with how the card system works. In hindsight, I think the better option would've been a small selection of hand-crafted levels and limited availability of cards.
Strangely, it never crossed my mind to have the AI actually race alongside you. This would be a really cool thing to add!
