Interesting/confusing? - took a few plays to figure out the controls.. would have been nice to have some way to quickly select the action for the cat you were clicking on... 3 clicks for ever thing you need to shoot on... all at moving targets. (unless you use the pause).

i would suggest to ease your way into the game letting your player learn the controls, like say have rounds and only a few enemys. by the time i learned the cats can shoot i got over welmed. on the next few plays i had issues with the cats shooting what i shot at. but i can see that this could be a pretty neat game with more polish

Had no idea how it worked the first time and all my cats died so was just avoiding the bombs for as long as I could. Reloaded and much better this time.

@jason-kennedy That's a really good point. I did design it trying to make the controls a bit of a nuisance, but 3 clicks to shoot/move does feel a bit too much. Maybe I can add a quick key for the order buttons to reduce the click count to 2.
@jcmonkey Thanks for the feedback! I'll see if I can make the ramp up of the game a bit slower.
@ehtd Thanks a bunch, sorry for the confusion! The game being a bit confusing seems to be a common theme I'll definitely have to fix.
Good application of the theme! Definitely a bit of a learning curve. Once I figured it out, it was a little easier, but def. still one of the tougher games.

This was very hard! Seems like an interesting idea. I bet cat people will like it :)
Congrats on the game, GG!
I love the art!

Thanks for the web build (tired of downloading exe files). As mentioned before, great aesthetics and theme interpretation!
Great game, I really like the art (love cats). Fairly challenging but fun.
So sad :( All my cats died. Nah, really great game and I always upvote cat games or something with cats ;)

Good idea, everyone loves cats :-) difficult at start but it got easier quickly. The game mechanics are good but take a while to master.

This is so difficult ^^' but there are cats so it's good

really cute! of course the cats have 9 lives... :D
All these weird genre mashups are doing my head in already, and I've only rated about 15 games hah. Anyway, nice combination of RTS and action, I found it a little too hard but that's absolutely personal preference.
Haha, great fun! Obviously the cats'd have nine lives :) If only there were a way to give instructions quicklier, I'd find it more manageable.

Interesting way of combining real-time with turn-based. I like the idea behind the game, a little more polishing would go a long way but overall a pretty solid game :)
I like the combination, I'd say every game needs more cats :) The game looks simple but is deceptively tricky. Fantastic work!

1. Like the concept and I especially like the "arcade" feel. 2. The control is a bit confusing. 3. The "move" and "shoot" for cat is a bit too much to control. I never get to use "move" and I always use "shoot"
The play area was a bit too big for me, so I lost track of my cats easily. But the multitasking was very fun! Great job!
Very cool game. Took me a while to find that I could make a cat a turret!!! This was an epic find :D Great work and thanks for playing my game too :)
That's a very unique walk animation! ;)
Fun game, I ended upp moving my cat around/away like a crazy person/cat :-) I ended up with so many bombs and canons and a bomb boss!? then I got back and read what I was suposed to do, and then it just got to mutch for me to handle. :-)
But overall good job! I had fun!
Soooo interesting :D It is pretty difficult to control more than one cat o_O

So hard... Good job on making the game! Keep going :)
This is a neat game, although very hard. Maybe make the time pausing a little bit longer than it currently is and maybe adding a little bit more lives would make the game last longer and be a little more fun (you could make it 9 lives like a cat). I like the idea of the game and it is really fun (it just could last a little longer).

I think game need some balance tweeks, but overall great job.

There needs to be a few balance issues addressed. - Bullets by enemy cats are shot from off screen. It can be difficult to react to the bullets at times. - Can be tough dodging bullets at times - Maybe have the pause timer be slower or recover faster? Can get easy to become overwhelmed.
Overall it was enjoyable. Had fun playing :)

Really funny idea. It took me a while to get going and understand it, but once I did it was fun. It was very difficult to be effective with the cats, though, and I was never really able to use the move capability well. Eventually, I wandered around in a world without cats, pursued by an immense army of foes, all of whom I could barely outrun. Not sure what the end state is there - eventually I gave up. Charming artwork, also. Nice job.

Funny concept, lovely artwork and good realization  Inspiring idea of allowing to do small pauses during the game to give orders to your cats, it makes the control better (i think I may re-use this short pause mode in my upcoming games). Overally a good experience, congratz :cat: :cat: :cat:
Really interesting concept! The controls are a bit overwhelming at first but I was able to pick it up after some time. I like the use of the pause mechanic to incorporate the blend of "real time" and "turn based".

Really nice! I think you could have given a way to gain new cats, since the difficulty in herding them kind of balances itself. I think it could have started out easier, then ramped up, which would give people a little more time to get used to stuff.
Really fun and stressful, though! Good job!
Really cute! Would've been cool if you could maybe set cats on auto-shoot modes that last an x amount of time. But otherwise it's very neat :D

Good idea and well made. But I had really bad time playing with touchpad, haha. Nice game nevertheless :)

A little challenging but still fun. Nice work! As others have said, would be great to have a separate key for each action (maybe right click to move and left click to shoot?) to make ordering your cats around easier.

The two genres you've combined make for a very challenging game. It took a few tries to figure out the controls as it was pretty confusing at first. It would have been nice to have some way to quickly select the action for the cat (for example by hovering over it and using your keyboard?). Graphics and the idea behind it where cute!
Overall great entry and I’d love for you to review my submission as well.

Its very challenging for me because im not a multitasker person but i enjoyed this one. What will happened after all the cats will die? On my experience after all the cats was died the score is not running. Maybe you need to set a timer so that even if all the little cats was died you can compute the score by the timer.

Cool idea, and very challenging, love the 9 lives on car. would be nice with some music :) Solid effort
I love cats! And also they have 9 lives! Awesome!

It's very hard. I wish the player could move faster, and, like other people have said, it would be helpful if the cat selection and actions were bound to keys. I like the design of the player character and all the enemies at lot though!
Cute little game you made there, I really enjoyed playing it despite the fact this was pretty hard for me ahah. This is an interesting genre mash-up and a pretty well executed concept, good job !
I decided that pausing time is for weak people and tried my best to go through the game without using it. It was surprisingly cooler than pausing to issue commands.
The Art is nice (bonus points for using cats xD), sound effects were cool, player feedback is ok, but I think you still have to think a bit more about gameplay. You should polish the idea of the gameplay a bit better: you could just used [left click] to select cats and [right click] to shoot, for example. It would make the gameplay WAY smoother. Also, a score on screen to keep track of how good you are doing would also be nice.
Good job!
Interesting idea! My largest recommendation is changing the sprite settings in Unity to make the pixel art less blurry.
To do this, click on the sprite in your asset browser, then in it's import settings (where the inspector is) change the filter mode from bilinear to point. This will stop pixel art from blurring like it does currently.
The real time vs turn-based element is interesting, but I found the game really hard! Keeping all 3 cats within reach and managing all the ennemies that keep popping up is damn near impossible in my experience! It may be helpful to make the "freezable" time more visual, easier to see - because all in all most of the game depends on this mechanic. Still, if it's one of your first Game Jams, congratulations! You got a little playable game that ain't bugged, it's pretty good! Keep going and looking forward to play your next title :-D
Very entertaining and the strategic factor is very interesting. It would put a limit to stop time and a higher level with obstacles. Congratulations for the game.
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.
