LD46 — Keep it alive

Emergency Override by Listonos 2020-04-20T11:38:57Z

The production quality of the game is excellent given the 48h time limit. The graphics and the effects (post processing I assume) works really well in adding the retro feel to the game. The voice over is a nice touch. If you add some simple 8bit sfx and it will bring me right back to the good old times.

Locked'goshi by StabAlarash 2020-04-22T19:15:27Z

Love the graphics. Very well done. The audio is a nice touch (voting is disabled tho). I take a peek at the source and I am pleasantly surprised it is developed by Godot.

I also like the humor in the game, and the toilet roll as currency

Pet shop INC. by Hadik 2020-04-21T21:27:28Z

- Great concept. I like builder/simulator/tycoon kind of games - Pixel Art is very good. - UI could use a bit more improvement. Since you are building with Phaser, it would be easy to add some custom CSS styles to make UI looks nicer.

Overall I like the game. I think with a bit more development, you can turn it into a nice mobile casual title.

Super B saves The City by seano 2020-04-22T17:27:01Z

Wow, the production quality of the game is impressive, especially given the 48h timeframe. The gameplay is also very engaging and exciting.

The only improvement that I can think of is that some of the camera angle is a bit awkward.

Fine Flowers by PietPtr 2020-04-22T17:29:28Z

I like the art style. The clock matches my local time, which is really a nice touch :-)

Eternal Flame by Galgris 2020-04-20T18:34:04Z

Very solid entry. The movement is a bit chunky and the platform edge detection sometimes does not work. Other than that, very enjoyable gameplay.

8 Degrees of Being Charlie McCandless by Simukas 2020-04-20T11:50:54Z

Very fun little game with some puzzle/card elements. I like the inside out inspiration. The art and sound production quality is quite good given the 48h limit.

Keep pizza alive by Sergey Myachin 2020-04-20T08:34:12Z

The graphics reminds me of the Excel easter egg racing game: https://www.wikihow.com/Play-a-Car-Race-in-Excel-2000

Flock for Feast by Antti Haavikko 2020-04-21T13:59:52Z

I love the graphics. Sound is a nice addition. Camera movement gets a bit weird in some cases but not a big deal.

(BTW, for compo, you are supposed to work alone, but you know  )

Social Distancing Simulator by Ruoyu 2020-04-20T09:21:59Z

@verttixpertti Thanks for your feedback. The initial idea is to have some tech tree like "Policy Tree" (like Civ 5) but I couldn't finish it in 48h. That would require some more strategic thinking when activating policies.

This is a sandbox simulation which means depending on how lucky you are (and how early is your social distancing measure), the gameplay will have very different result.

Social Distancing Simulator by Ruoyu 2020-04-21T13:10:17Z

@lanalux The win condition is that all your citizen are recovered without overloading your hospital.

Social Distancing Simulator by Ruoyu 2020-04-21T13:12:32Z

@noobexception I wasn't aware of the 3b1b spread visualization but then I googled the video and realize it is quite similar indeed!

Servers & Sockets by Noxbuds 2020-04-21T14:14:26Z

At first I didn't realize you have to connect to the internet first and I was daisy chaining servers without connecting to internet and was confused about the situation. Then I saw the screenshot and realized that.

Polar by MrSchlag2 2020-04-20T19:11:48Z

The music and sound effect is very good. Graphic is simple but works. Overall a solid entry. The country for ice is not intuitive at first. Maybe highlight the iceberg on mouseover?

Keep Coron Alive by Qux 2020-04-22T14:02:51Z

haha, I also did a virus simulation game, but from the other perspective (stop it from spreading) https://fishpondstudio.com/ld46/

At first I thought it was like Plague Inc, but then I realize that I have to click to spread the virus, which makes it quite action-centric. In general, for simulation game, I'd like to be able to make more macro/strategic decisions (maybe it's just me)

The sound effect is way too real

Ballistica by SimonBeats 2020-04-21T13:50:44Z

This reminds me of "They are Billions". The graphics is simple but works very well. I have to admit, the sound effect at the beginning is brutal to my ear :-)

Manually adjusting the turret shooting feels a bit too much. Maybe consider some auto shooting + manual override?

Tobias mustn't die by psydack 2020-04-21T14:03:50Z

It's handy that I've got a mechanical keyboard.

The game is very simple. I like the colors. This can be turned into a hypercasual game however you might need to make the core gameplay more "casual" friendly :-)

Quest for Cake by Juutis 2020-04-21T13:32:25Z

I like the low poly feel of the graphics. The background music is not bad at all (I wouldn't even consider muting it). The sound effect is very funny. Gameplay is simple yet gives me a "Untitled Goose Game" feel. Very solid entry overall.

Also the cake looks like a toilet paper roll :-)

AliveBirds by ManTou 2020-04-21T14:18:18Z

The pixel art is really nice: simple yet effective. The birds and animations are very cute. The gameplay is simple to understand. Sound effect is a nice addition. You can add more content and turn it into a casual mobile title.

Fish Motel by Lou Bagel 2020-04-20T18:51:40Z

Solid entry. Love the pixel art work, especially the bear. Also the music and sfx is a nice addition given the time limit. There are a few times where I cannot get the range of the water splash correct so some nice usability enhancement there would be nice.

The Core by NoobException 2020-04-20T18:58:36Z

I like the minimalistic approach to UI and graphics. Overall looks very nice and works well. The UI transition is a nice touch. And music is quite decent as well. The only problem for me is the control, which feels a bit chunky.

In A Game Wherein by SSStormy 2020-04-20T18:41:16Z

Very good writing and narrative design. I like the inception kind of feel. Some relaxing music would be a good addition.

HealWall by xart2012 2020-04-22T08:12:04Z

Really nice idea. I like it a lot. The graphics is simple yet effective. The sound effect adds a nice touch.

I am a bit confused when playing the first time so some in-game instructions would help. You can also consider adding some strategic depth (different types, combos, etc) to the game to make it more fun. Also the UI could be a little clear whether you are on a cooldown or not.

Corporate Slave Rabbit by JoshuaRabbit 2020-04-21T13:38:54Z

Very interesting entry indeed. The sound production is an admirable effort. The game is small and short but it can be easily expanded and enriched. Good job.

Body Guards by Hcursino 2020-04-20T09:10:11Z

As someone who has worked in mobile game development, I have to say, apart from production values (graphics, sounds, etc), the core mechanism isn't far off  I like the sarcasm (whether it is intended or not).

Tears of Coffee by Milestone Games 2020-04-20T12:34:04Z

The pixel art looks amazing given it is produced within 48h. Music is a nice touch too. The gameplay is very simple and straightforward.

Rescue turtles by A-312 2020-04-20T18:45:49Z

I like the graphics. The pixel art work is very impressive given the time limit. The gameplay could use a few simple additions.

Star Buffs by MAJK_FL 2020-04-20T11:25:56Z

The gameplay is a bit too hard. But I like the lighting and effects (seems the new 2D lighting in Unity works really well) - they add a lot of polish to the gameplay

Blokrok by VerttiXPertti 2020-04-22T17:40:09Z

The production quality of the game is very good, especially within 48h. The gameplay is easy to understand and the control is very intuitive. Well done!

You can definitely develop this game and turn it into a casual mobile title.

Leaning plates by thewrath 2020-04-22T08:05:37Z

What I like: - Gameplay is simple and easy to get started - Graphics is good given the time limit - Sound effect is a nice plus What can be further worked on: - The collision seems too "forgiving": there are several time I thought I missed it and that resulted in weird graphics - Add more content/mechanism to enrich the gameplay

current by zzox 2020-04-20T08:51:00Z

One of my favorite so far. This game has one of the highest production value (graphics & sound) among all the games I've rated. The levels are getting difficult very quickly for me but I am amazed that you have created quite a lot of content during 48h.

I think after some polish and content creation (and maybe difficulty curve adjustment), you can release this game.

Rewilding: The Story of Wolfhead Valley by ChloeOfArroyo 2020-04-20T10:47:53Z

I like the graphics - they are simple yet effective. The UI is also very clear and intuitive. The length of the game is good for game jam and it is not very difficult.

Save the station by Alexander Termer 2020-04-20T09:17:57Z

The concept is very solid. Kind of remind me of They Are Billions (https://store.steampowered.com/app/644930/They_Are_Billions/). It would be useful to add some instructions on each of the building as it took me a while to get it. The graphics is simple yet works very well.

Wasmball by itsarjunsinh 2020-04-20T18:23:51Z

Simple gameplay and it can be developed into a hypercasual mobile title with a bit more production efforts (graphics, sfx)

Kudos for choosing a new technology for game jam and being able to finish it in time! I always wanted to get into ECS but never feel productive with it and always keep going back to MonoBehavior.

Cupid's Arrow Inc. Difficult Cases Division by SolitudeDude 2020-04-22T08:00:24Z

Very interesting concept. The cards are well written and makes me laugh. I like the sound effect: it is simple and effective. I feel this concept can be further developed: - Add a deeper strategy component: currently it is mostly a math and luck game - Add a "story" mode so that there are story lines to follow - Continue productions (graphics, UI, music)

Hedgehog Survival by Vaanrile 2020-04-22T13:52:43Z

What I like: - Very simple and relaxing casual game. I like the vibe. - The production quality is quite good. - Sound effect is a nice touch. What can be improved: - The fact that I can throw hedgehogs off screen feels a bit weird. - The collisions sometimes is a bit wonky.

Bustion Defender by AxGord 2020-04-22T07:48:04Z

A very commendable result for your first LD. The core game play is simple and straightforward. If you want to work further on this game, you might: - Improve productions (graphics, effects, etc) - Improve the enemy AI a bit (currently it is not very balanced) - Some UI improvement - Add more content

Frost & Fire by Cryptomnesic 2020-04-20T19:08:44Z

The retro feel (art + sound) is great. Although I am confused for quite a while. So maybe some instructions would help with that.

An Afternoon Adventure by nicolasmaclean 2020-04-20T19:04:22Z

I think adding some instructions would be beneficial: it took me a long while to figure out how to get around (and space key for jump). I like the "pen and paper" style art.

a Friend of fire by GreenDuck 2020-04-20T07:36:18Z

The art looks very good. I have played 5+ games and have never won. I started to suspect that there was no heart in the map :-)

The Cyclist Helper by Gediminas Gurskis 2020-04-20T11:22:48Z

The gameplay is very interesting and innovative. I like the physics based puzzle vibe.

AntOhNo by Rednaxelus 2020-04-22T17:34:25Z

The game is pretty difficult . The audio adds a nice touch.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Cramzon Mine by recursor 2018-04-23T17:19:03Z

1. Love the graphics and audio! 2. Some of the items are simply impossible to find! 3. The game mechanism can evolve further.

Flappy Nerd by eddynardo 2018-04-23T20:42:03Z

Nice concept. Finally it makes Flappy Bird much easier!

Idle Jump by Too 2018-04-23T20:45:46Z

Nice graphics. Although Z/X key does not seem to work for me.

MechCity by PixelMonkey 2018-04-23T19:51:27Z

Nice graphics and sound effects. I get confused with control at first (I didn't get the "move" part). But once I figure out, it's working quite well.

Harvest Royale by neverautomatic 2018-04-23T16:58:42Z

Potential improvements:

1. The UI & control is a bit weird. I can't help clicking the "toolbox" and then realize that I have to use number keys :-) It would be nice to allow click to switch tools. 2. More battle royale elements would be nice.

Garden Symphony by cowa 2018-04-23T19:40:34Z

Graphics style works great and I like the music. And kudos for using Godot! However, the rhythm mechanism and control can be improved.

Obaké by mrspeaker 2018-04-23T19:25:00Z

Very unique concept and quite well executed!

Colony Sniper by ab200 2018-04-23T18:08:07Z

Something wrong with the game? I am stuck at the loading bar.

Colony Sniper by ab200 2018-04-23T18:15:31Z

Screenshot_1.png

For me, it's stuck at this...

Colony Sniper by ab200 2018-04-23T18:20:45Z

@ab200 The console has nothing...

Car Tower Defense by fraanns 2018-04-23T20:03:15Z

Nice concept, here are some potential improvements:

1. The car control is a bit difficult. the "drift" is too much. 2. Too many zombies makes it impossible!

The Swimmer by Swifttech 2018-04-23T19:35:17Z

Nice concept. But it quickly gets repetitive. I think more game mechanisms can be added.

Card Royale by Ruoyu 2018-04-23T17:48:00Z

Yes. It's not easy. Also the card drawing code seems to have a tiny bug that makes it even harder (The whole deck should follow a shuffled sequence, but instead each set follows its own sequence. So you could end up with much challenging card combinations)

Card Royale by Ruoyu 2018-04-23T18:51:31Z

@HagamosVideojuegos Thanks for the kind words! I sort of know this bug (two blinking animation clashes, rookie mistake :-) ).

Jump and Draw by Call_me_Nutty 2018-04-23T20:53:47Z

Interesting combination. I like the sound effect and music. The control part of the platformer is a bit wonky.

Honest Dan's Trout by Honest Dan 2018-04-24T16:55:19Z

Very solid game. It combines two classic games and it works reasonably well. The game feels quite complete with nice sound effects and distinct graphics style.

Zombie Tycoon by David Hunter 2018-04-23T19:06:41Z

The voice is a nice surprise! But the graphics get a bit confusing.

Pretty Crowded Dungeon by sprvrn 2018-04-23T19:54:54Z

Cool graphics and sound effect.

Silence of the Chickens by Tayfun 2018-04-23T19:29:52Z

The intro is amazing! I like the idea and the camera switch. The control is a bit difficult to master though.

Road Rules by Sky 2018-04-23T19:19:33Z

The game is very polished. The graphics is nice, the control works reasonably well and there's music!

(S)Word Forge by Persijn 2018-04-23T18:19:53Z

1. Cool art style! 2. The game mechanism can be further polished. Now I get bored too quickly :-p

Birdy by HagamosVideojuegos 2018-04-23T18:29:26Z

There seems to be a bug: I can "impulse" through platform :-)

Geom by ddolgov 2018-04-23T16:45:05Z

Things I like:

1. Very minimalist and clean graphics 2. Cool animations

Can be improved:

1. Some music and sound would definitely make it much nicer! 2. I initially thought it was a match-3 game and get very confused. (A match-3 boss fight is also a cool idea)

Flappy Blocks by Radical Dog 2018-04-23T20:10:07Z

I like the fact that the game has a story line! And the concept is well executed.

Need for Coin: Island Hoppers by saoi-games 2018-04-24T09:20:17Z

Very solid game. Temple Run + Racing is cool. There are few ideas to consider:

1. Change a camera to a higher angle because now it's quite easy to miss the jump. 2. The control can be improved.

Flappy Soccer by Teo SK 2018-04-23T20:13:11Z

I am wondering, how can I score a goal? I've tried so many times and haven't yet succeeded.

Platform Bubble Shooter by Zamecki 2018-04-23T19:33:27Z

Interesting concept! The control is a bit hard though.

Cat Pack by Potondo 2018-04-23T17:56:52Z

1. Like the concept and I especially like the "arcade" feel. 2. The control is a bit confusing. 3. The "move" and "shoot" for cat is a bit too much to control. I never get to use "move" and I always use "shoot"

Idle Matching by devex 2018-04-23T17:00:27Z

The game page link is broken?

Draw --> by Joshua Levin 2018-04-23T20:37:29Z

Nice concept and cool card drawing animation. I had a similar card + action take. I wish I had implemented the animation :-)

⏰ :alarmclock: by Stralor 2018-04-23T19:46:43Z

Really nice concept! However, I get lost very quickly :-) maybe I am too old for emoji
