As someone who has worked in mobile game development, I have to say, apart from production values (graphics, sounds, etc), the core mechanism isn't far off  I like the sarcasm (whether it is intended or not).

Nicely done! I like the idea, we not only have to consider what to use to counter the enemies on the map, but also consider their placement carefully. One thing I don't like is that it's a bit too random - too often I find myself stuck with a group of larger enemies, with no cards or energy and really nothing to do but wait to die. As for the cards - I like the system, but their redraw animation is too complex to be informative. The player has to keep their eye on the game board, so the card respawn time should be immediately understandable. Perhaps leaving only the five colored drops lighting up one after another would be enough. The Gashapon is a nice addition. One thing I'd change about it it to balance it a bit better at the start. From my first run (I've reached level 3) I got enough coins to unlock all but 20 cards in the collection. I gotta say, though, I love the large selection of cards and units. Good job!

This is great! It took me a while to get it but then it just became a really nice chill experience! Scaling worked a bit weird and textures got a bit smudged but overall it's a really nice game!

11/10 for Pedro defetnder cell

Great game

I really liked the overall idea, and I'm always happy to see cards in non-card games. The amount of content that you managed to crank into this is also quite remarkable given the time that we have. The only complains that I have are that despite the tutorial some things were not really clear, like the costs of the units and the way in which DNA coins are given (since it seemed that the more I resisted the less I had). Very good job anyway!

This was a fun game - and there's an impressive amount of content in it. I will say that I found that "spam normies and play all cards immediately" seemed to be a bit too effective of a strategy, but I still had fun doing that. I really like the game over screen, it's great. I liked the music too - it's funky.

@sanjuro Nice catch! The costs of the units were supposed to be there, but the frames displayed were wrong. It is fixed now, thanks for the heads up! As for the DNA coins, you are supposed to get one per level you reach, I wanted to make it clearer when you go up a level but when I got to that part I didn't have energy in me to do so anymore haha

Love it !

Amazing deep game that I absolutely am terrible at! Could use more polishing and then it would be an excellent game!

hegemege 2020-04-22 17:17

That was a lot of fun to play, a good rogue-lite and progression felt good. Not many gacha mechanics in Ludum Dare, it was good variety!

2kah 2020-04-22 18:49

The game mechanics are great, I loved it!

sokette 2020-04-22 21:14

Nice ! Feels like with polished graphics and more JUIIIICE it could be pretty cool marketable product :O

I wondered why the game was so hard at first, and then understood the replay value when I got my first card from the gachapon :P

jelle-vermandere 2020-04-24 07:48

really fun game, I liked the cards, although it was quite difficult to get into at first

alferbayter 2020-04-24 15:46

Nice idea. Found it a bit difficult to begin with though. Reminded me a bit of Plants vs Zombies :)

specturnal 2020-04-25 20:19

The amount of cards you made is quite impressive, and the gashapon adds a lot of replay value. I also enjoy the music quite a bit. The visual feedback for energy reduction doesn't seem to be immediate enough, I was confused at first being unable to spawn more. The "guards" also have a tendency to go out of bounds when they are high in number. Apart from these, the experience is quite enjoyable =)

Great game, I didn't really like the gacha mechanic, but that's mostly personal preference. The third time I played the game it got a lot harder because my cardpool became less useless. Still the amount of content in the game is kinda crazy, good job!

kitjenson 2020-04-28 12:53

There is a lot of content here. Amazing!

psydack 2020-04-28 13:08

Cool game! Reminded me the "hataraku saibou" anime. The art, sound and mechanic are great, but I couldn't get a card and the imune hitpoints and health could be more instantly updated instead had a interpolation because you don't know how much did you spend to "defend". Anyway, congrats!

vesper 2020-04-28 16:18

Took me far too long to figure out that the Gashapon wasn't something you implemented in-between levels, but once I'd figured it out it was very fun. Tons of re-playability and challenge to it. Everything was nicely thought out and the mechanics were smooth and easy to use. Very impressive overall.
