Awesome game! Full score in mood, from me :)

goloso-games 2017-07-31 11:21

@falk-bruskeland Thanks, I really appreciate :)

cynical-monkey 2017-07-31 11:28

So i marked the audio highly because while there wasn't much going on it set the mood well, maybe a few more SFX like car doors opening, to dynamically tell the story rather than the dialogue having to do all the exposition

consider the size of the screen though, i played it in itchios browser and it meant that the buttons and dialogue couldn't be on the screen at the same time, which when the game is mostly negative space felt frustrating having to keep scrolling up and down

anttiviljami 2017-07-31 11:29

Great mood! A bit slow paced for me. An option to skip to next part of dialogue would be great for faster readers.

timtipgames 2017-07-31 11:32

Awesome, I played until I experienced 3 different endings. I wish the text would go either a little bit faster or allow me to hit a button to go to the options directly without having to wait. I'd probably opt for the text to go a little faster as the timing greatly contributes to the great mood of the game.

ysty 2017-07-31 11:33

Really cool. It was a nice touch that you could skip the intro after the first ending. :)

souperstrawer 2017-07-31 11:35

Nice game. Could use a fast forward button for skipping dialogue I've already seen.

goloso-games 2017-07-31 11:36

@cynical-monkey oh sorry for that, I didn't have the problem on my computer (and still don't have :( ). Did you switch on full screen ? Anyway, thanks for the feedback :)

goloso-games 2017-07-31 11:38

@souperstrawer @timtipgames @anttiviljami I didn't have time to think about fast forward because the animations (map for example) are related to the dialogs. I definitely agree with all of you, unfortunately, I didn't find the best way to do it before publishing.

fazz 2017-07-31 12:02

This is a really interesting take on the theme. If only all Interactive Fiction was presented as well as this.

goloso-games 2017-07-31 12:23

@fazz Thanks a lot, it's what I tried to accomplish :)

snowy 2017-07-31 13:09

I like this game!

Story-wise, I really enjoyed it. There are some English mistakes (which can be forgiven since it's not your first language), and some dialogue felt a *little* bit stiff, but overall you did a good job! It's not the easiest thing in the world to make a multi-ending game, but you handled it pretty well!

goloso-games 2017-07-31 13:18

@snowy thank you, I really appreciate :) I'll improve my english, I promise !

thinkofname 2017-07-31 18:41

Nice idea for a game. I agree about the text being a bit slow, apart from that it was pretty good.

I noticed after I completed one run the 'Endings' screen showed number 5 twice and missed 1. ld39-0.png

goloso-games 2017-07-31 18:43

@thinkofname thanks for the feedback ! Well, it's definitely a bug, there are actually 7 endings. I'll fix it as soon as possible.

badly-drawn-rod 2017-07-31 19:53

The audio on this is very good, contributing greatly to the atmosphere. You've really managed to capture the dynamic of driving while married! I enjoyed this very much.

helpcomputer 2017-07-31 19:54

I really enjoyed this, and agree with above the mood and audio was very good. One bug I noticed was that I could see the Unity Web player logo at the bottom of the window, perhaps it's the wrong size on itch?

sivael 2017-07-31 20:04

Very slow, I would appreciate a way to speed things up. It was well done though.

h-attila 2017-07-31 20:10

Nice interpretation of the theme, clean minimalist but stylish graphics/interface. As mentioned before, a way to fast-forward the dialogue would've been handy, especially when replaying for the alternate endings. Cool sound design, although I think you had the turn signal sound effect even when the car was supposed to go straight. :) Oh, and no need to apologize for your English, it was perfectly fine. :)

goloso-games 2017-07-31 20:31

@badly-drawn-rod Thanks a lot ! I'll confess that I know that feeling too :) @helpcomputer @sivael @h.attila Thanks for your feedbacks and your kind words ! Well, it seems it's too slow for most of the people. It will be my first priority after the jam (I'll polish the game).

goloso-games 2017-07-31 20:32

@h-attila, yes this is a bug I found too ... but after publishing, of course :)

geeitsomelaldy 2017-07-31 20:34

Interesting idea. My only complaint would be that I wish I could speed the text up. While you can skip the introduction, the time between each choice you've done before still makes multiple playthroughs annoying.

raogs 2017-07-31 21:00

Great little game, maybe just add a skip button for when you have already read a scene.

kelbg 2017-07-31 21:06

Pretty good. As others have said, it would be nice to have some way to speed up the dialogue . Also, I feel that it could have used some text-to-speech to simulate the directions from the GPS, but I overall I liked it. Good Job.

goloso-games 2017-07-31 21:22

@geeitsomelaldy @raogs @kelbg Thanks for your feedbacks ! GPS TTS is a good idea, I'll think about it, thanks !

zyzzyzzyz 2017-08-01 00:10

A cool little narrative game. The dialogue was well written and I liked that there were so many possible endings that could result just from binary decisions. Telltale could learn something from you about how to do a proper choice-driven adventure!

jesper-fyhr-knudsen 2017-08-01 08:45

It's just a GPS. Great entry and very good humor. Good job :)

linky439 2017-08-01 17:35

Nice take on the theme!

I just wished we could fast forward the dialogs as it tends to be a bit slow, but otherwise it is a great narrative game. Well down! :)

goloso-games 2017-08-01 19:19

@zyzzyzzyz @jesper-fyhr-knudsen @linky439 thanks for the feedback :) Fast forward will be in an update after the jam (I've already started to work on it).

gamepopper 2017-08-01 19:44

Good job here, a lot of options and a good amount of writing as well. Would be nice if there was an input to skip text, since it is a bit slow and repetitive. Other than that it's a good narrative that fits with the theme! :)

jin47 2017-08-02 18:16

Awesome game. It is a nice take on the theme and the details put in the sound design is really nice. This is an impressive entry. Good job!

inventer99 2017-08-02 18:46

I have always enjoyed choose your own adventures and your is fun to play. The endings are also great.

mariandev96 2017-08-02 18:55

Great game. I enjoyed every ending, good job on the script , it really kept me wanting to know what's next. Except for the wrong numbers in the endings screen I haven't seen anything wrong. Good job , solid entry.

assoonasimpossible 2017-08-03 19:08

I enjoyed the minimalist style of narration. Cool, innovative experience.

kerdelos 2017-08-03 23:22

Great game ! Excellent job. Like many said I found the text going too slowly and the bip and boops they make do not fit well with the otherwise excellent audio ambiance you manager to achieve. I did not expect to hear a different sound when turning right, excellent job :)

ps: other minor defaults includes english mistakes in some lines of dialog and some line that as not as well written as most of the game. But Overall I really enjoyed it, good job !

justinooncx 2017-08-04 01:00

That was certainly an experience~ Given the amount of time I had, I could only go for one ending, but it seems I got the 'good' one! Text skipping would be nice after you've played through the first time, though. Still, I'm definitely curious on the other endings, perhaps when I have more time I'll revisit this game and see what it has to offer. Well done~

goloso-games 2017-08-04 12:59

@gamepopper @jin47 @inventer99 @mariandev96 @assoonasimpossible @kerdelos @justinooncx thanks again people for the awesome feedbacks. I am really happy you enjoyed the game, I will definitely polish it and put some efforts in it.

aterlamia 2017-08-04 16:33

I liked it :) very minimalistic as games go but a good story behind it goes a long way. Probably some music as background that changes depending on what choices you make or the mood of your wife. But good experience overall.

brandon-diaz 2017-08-04 18:44

Very cool, interesting concept. I've been playing a lot of Reigns lately, so this one stood out to me. I only played through two endings, but I enjoyed both runs.

cnoble 2017-08-06 14:58

That was a fun little game with a neat premise! I agree with a couple of the other comments though that the text felt a little slow, maybe add a button to advance instead of waiting for it to roll to the next set of words? For English not being your first language, you did a very nice job of it!! I really liked the background noises and the beeping sounds it really enhanced the mood. Excellent little game you made here :)

goloso-games 2017-08-06 19:47

@cnoble @brandon-diaz @aterlamia , thanks for the feedbacks :) I am really happy to be compared (even a little bit) to Reigns, it means a lot. Skipping texts is now on the latest version :)

pnghasemi 2017-08-06 21:56

You did very well. Telling a story using a simple looking screen and text. The only problem I felt was the story. I would have liked to follow a more engaging story. Cuz you know, the only thing you have in these kinds of games to add more variety and fun, is your story. So you need to play well with that. But anyways, It was good. It has the potential to pull the player back to play more.

goloso-games 2017-08-06 22:34

@pnghasemi Thanks for the honest feedback ! I have to tell the truth, I didn't have a lot of time to imagine a full story with different endings, all linked together. So I can understand that you feel that way :) For your information, I think I wrote all the texts in 4-5 hours, at least. I didn't expect to spend so much time on it... that was a nightmare :)

ganbaregameskyle 2017-08-07 05:06

Not much to it for me. I had no incentive to go back and complete the other endings.

2017-08-07 11:39

Very nice story! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6R1HDnk8EU

schu 2017-08-08 21:20

I love the graphics and audio! The writing seemed a tad rushed and weak for certain parts of the game but I enjoyed it overall.

rahtainka 2017-08-09 00:13

Nice little game.

I love these kind of games. For a compo entry it has a really good mood and sound and it's fun! I played it a couple of times and really enjoyed it.

Well done.

jimbly 2017-08-09 02:11

Heh, fun, I found 4 of the endings. I enjoyed the ending when I blindly followed my Garmin, err, Quoala.

goloso-games 2017-08-09 08:42

@ganbaregameskyle Finally someone who doesn't like the game, no problem, games can't be for all players :) @jupiter-hadley Thanks for the first let's play ! I'm glad you enjoyed the game. @schu @rahtainka @jimbly thanks for your feedbacks, I really appreciate !

theflyingkeyboard 2017-08-13 21:04

Really fun game to play. Sounds were just amazing. Graphics are nice and fits the game. Dialogues are fun, but a bit too slow. Amazing game to play, one of the best I've played so far :)

coauctor 2017-08-18 11:07

That was so cool. The audiovisuals serve the narrative in a great way. I like especially how different people have different beeps for their speech. Also, thanks for skip intro button.

More of that, it's good to know that I opened 3 endings out of 7. The game is small but I enjoyed it. Thanks!

zyxer 2017-08-18 11:37

Wow, really good CYOA-like game! Very nice take on the theme. Great idea to turn a GPS into a HAL-like evil computer :P

vulpem 2017-08-18 12:13

For such a tiny, focused game, it works really well! I'd say the sounds are what make it all come together and bring to life the situations you're in. It stops being a screen telling you what to do and turns into a trip with your car.

Overall, well done! The only thing that kinda bugged me was that there was little depth to the decisions, or at least i felt like it. My first instict was "let's follow this GPS and see where it takes us". And when i got that ending, i was like "fuck this thing, i'm trusting my wife". Besides those two endings... there's little reason, besides the "i want to know all of the endings", to take any other decision. Although, this is a Jam, and i'm asking for something that even some AAA even struggle with, sooo... can't blame that on you xD

Good job!

ddrkirbyisq 2017-08-18 14:25

Hehe, quite fun. Thanks for adding the ability to skip text!

I know it can be a pain to get right the first time, but try to work on the framing of your webgl player -- it will make your games feel cleaner. Your frame size is 960x600 so make sure your game is exported snugly at that resolution. Using the minimal webgl template can help, unless you explicitly want the bar at the bottom.

yetman 2017-08-18 14:47

Follow my curiosity or Follow my wife.... Nah, I'll just drive into a wasteland. I like the idea a lot and the dialogue was well written. The art was minimal but really effective and the lack of visuals for the outer environment made me really curious. Overall, it is a really nice small game.

wan 2017-08-18 15:13

Great writing & great graphics for a truly innovative game! I wish there were more experimental things like this on LD. I had no idea how the game would play until the intro finished, this little suspense in itself was already cool.

I really like how the wife just speaks really like a normal human would, which is a nice change from a lot of interactive stories (well, apart maybe from the Indiana Jones reference ;P). My first thought when the GPS went all weird was that I got hacked and nothing good would happen if I followed its direction, it's cool to see common sense worked.

I unlocked all endings out of curiosity, it gets a bit crazy at times (alternative Terminator origin story anyone?) but it was fun dicovering them all!

franklins-ghost 2017-08-19 16:23

The writing in this was well done, liked that the dialogue felt so real and that there was consequences for your actions. Gave it that mood of being in a car going somewhere and trying to figure out whether you should listen to the GPS or someone else in the car. The clean visuals also worked really well in this context.

goloso-games 2017-08-20 09:01

@theflyingkeyboard @coauctor @zyxer @vulpem @ddrkirbyisq @yetman @wan @franklins-ghost Thanks everyone for the feedbacks ! I really appreciate you like the game :) I'll be careful about the resolution, and I need to work again on the dialog speed. Thanks for playing !
