Very unique! I really liked the way a couple words were rephrased as I played. Weird how there were invisible platforms along the way, I got caught on a couple of them and it made for a bit of fumbling.

limered 2018-04-24 01:30

Very moody. I liked it. Took me a little bit to figure some stuff out.

blazedragon 2018-04-24 01:36

I really really like this. It's hard though, but the style is pretty neat the sound is way way to loud had to turn down the speakers and glad you dont' have to start over if you fall. it was interesting and challenging. didn't play long but good game all around. well done

corc0 2018-04-24 01:50

@BlazeDragon thanks for that feedback! We tested the audio on a number of systems - was there a particular screen where you found the volume was too loud?

@limered thank you! We worked really hard on the mood and creating a solid atmosphere across all categories :)

@Marsepstein that's good to know! We tested them quickly but had to push. We thought it was still better than the alternative of falling all the way back to the beginning.

marsepstein 2018-04-24 01:54

@corc0 yes, I agree! was happy to not have to start over :sweat_smile: thanks!

blazedragon 2018-04-24 02:08

@corc0 yes the first menu. but I turned it down after that and it didn't seem as bad. might just be my settings.

gi11 2018-04-24 02:30

That was great! I really enjoyed the mood and atmosphere set up. Music was on point, and the idea was neat.

Good job!

indiana-pones 2018-04-24 02:33

@gi11 Thank you!

patvanmackelberg 2018-04-24 03:07

This is great - I will admit I didn't get to the end but I got a good enough feel for it. Awesome concept, I liked the art, sound, and it was a good take at the theme!

kelbg 2018-04-24 18:01

Very nice, the sound and visuals blend together nicely to set up the atmosphere, and I also really liked the unique concept. A little hard to jump onto the smaller platforms, but maybe I'm just bad. Really nice work overall!

theslate 2018-04-25 00:40

Damn, that's a good take on text based platformers. Kudos!

corc0 2018-04-25 03:56

@patvanmackelberg It's tough to get to the end (although we think it's worth it!). Thank you for the kind words.

@kelbg Thanks for letting us know about the small platforms (and it's not just you!).

@theslate Thank you!

nardandas 2018-04-25 05:54

Really interesting game, though I think the game was bugged out on my a bit. it wouldn't show me more words sometimes. I don't know if I was making mistakes or if it was a bug. I thoroughly enjoyed the concept though, and if the bugs were fixed it would be an incredible LD game.

fredricw 2018-04-25 08:32

Wow this was just amazing. I love the story and played it all the way through. Reminds me of the intro in fire watch for some reason. The way the words changed, telling an alternate story, was awesome. The toned down art style was perfect and really set the mood. The platforming elements did get in the way of the story in my opinion but surely fits the theme of the LD.

I'm really impressed you had the time to write a story with that kind of depth in the short period of time and at the same time branching the dialog. We had the ambition of writing something more heavy as well but had to scope it down to a more easy going subject.

Good job!

ignaciogamedev 2018-04-25 14:05

You really have done well following the topic of this Ludum Dare. The way of telling a story completing the words by jumping on them is innovative. The only thing I have to critice is the rough controls when moving. Keep up the good work, really nice idea!

miracl 2018-04-25 16:33

I totally love the concept, I just felt a little bit frustrated when I fell because we don't see the collider, especially in the exchange with the doctor. Keep having great idea like that !

corc0 2018-04-25 19:41

@nardandas It's a bug; if you don't land on the punctuation before it falls through the floor, the game won't progress. You've got to fall off the platform at the bottom of the screen and reset the scene to progress. It's not you! Thank you for your praise & insights.

@FredricW Just commented on your game. I agree that the platforming can make the game pretty distracting at times. I'd love to experiment with other ways of combining these genres. And in regards to the story: that's all @indiana-Pones, our writer-in-residence.

@ignaciogamedev What do you think could most improve the controls? We're learning that it's hard for most people to get around. Thank you for your feedback.

@MiracL Totally agreed! Thank you.

strega 2018-05-03 06:38

Great job! The mood was good and the way the gameplay aiding the story telling and feeling of broken sentences was very well done.

The jump was a little stiff, but it kind of aided with the storytelling.

jiri-hysek 2018-05-06 10:25

This was very interesting experience.. I really like mood of the game. Graphics style and music does great job here. I don't know if it's a purpose but I think some words can be placed a bit better to avoid collision - when I'm trying to jump to the next word, I'm constantly hitting by head to word above me. I noticed it only in one case though. Great job anyway!
