LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Office Tactics by Move127 2018-04-24T21:28:24Z

I can really see the potential in this game but I can't say I understood exactly what to do and it was a little slow paced for my liking. With a higher tempo and some more features this could be kind of fun and challenging. I did manage to get stuck in the tutorial having to refresh the browser, that might be something to look into.

The graphics are amazing and the choice of "menu" is brilliant. I think you are spot on the theme, it feels really original. The game is really well packaged and super polished. Really good job doing this in just 72 hours! :)

I really like your version of a murder dating simulator, fun twist and overall a creepy mood. Some of the dialog options are hilarious but I find it kind of hard to predict the implication of my choices. It always seemed like I picked the "wrong" choice and something unpredictable happened.

You have done a good job writing all the dialog, it takes a lot of time especially when branching the dialog with multiple choices. We did it in our adventure game to and it was a lot of work.

Wow this was just amazing. I love the story and played it all the way through. Reminds me of the intro in fire watch for some reason. The way the words changed, telling an alternate story, was awesome. The toned down art style was perfect and really set the mood. The platforming elements did get in the way of the story in my opinion but surely fits the theme of the LD.

I'm really impressed you had the time to write a story with that kind of depth in the short period of time and at the same time branching the dialog. We had the ambition of writing something more heavy as well but had to scope it down to a more easy going subject.

Good job!

This is probably the most fun game I've played so far in this LD, total chaos in a good way. I love the art and the sfx, actually the whole package is good. I had some problems getting used to switching players but it got easier as I continued to play. I think the AI is perfectly balanced and the zamboni in halftime is hilarious.

The Colossal Carrot Caper by rush 2018-04-24T12:32:35Z

Really nice use of the theme and the art style looks great. The syncing issue got a little annoying when the wolves where on to me but at the same time kind of added to the stress and tension of not wanting to get caught. I also like the contrast of the upbeat song and the scary wolves, smart choice.

Jammer Tank by Jonnymentero 2018-04-24T12:16:43Z

Good idea and really addicting. I got frustrated kind of early but kept playing. Just one more try and then one more try until I finally gave up after falling off the same platform for the hundred time. The physics creates some humorous moments when just tumbling off the edge you want to stay on. Probably too hard for me in the long run but great job guys :)

I think you have done a good job graphic wise with the time given. I'm glad you opted for the parallax effect, it gives so much more movement and depth than just a simple backdrop. Definitely worth the effort.

The animations lifts the overall feel of the game. The flying carrot animation and movement is just awesome and reminds me of enemies on the NES era. I can't say I'm a super fan of the flappy bird controls when it comes to flying the ship, but at the same time it adds some difficulty and prolongs the game time.

Always nice to see a female protagonist, we went in the same direction with our game, but in a completely different genre.

the World Deck by Victrola Sage 2018-04-24T14:02:39Z

I like your take on the theme and especially the art style on the cards look good. I found the controls a bit annoying and hard to handle, especially because you get punished really bad (restart from scratch) for falling off the platforms. The core gameplay is fun but I would probably have liked more of an infinit runner where you have to worry more about the cards to fill holes while automatically running and just jumping with the keyboard.

Overall good work. I can really relate to your point that hours developing ends up like minutes in the game. We took on the challenge of making an adventure game with kind of the same vibe as yours, magical girl, and it was a lot of hard work.

Nice combo of genres, this game really is completely different. It was actually more fun than I expected, not sure how to win though. I probably would have liked more dialog choices to chase after and an optimal dialog path for success but it was still fun to play.

Pipe Warrior, Mech Dream by Aerynus 2018-04-24T12:54:50Z

This fits the theme perfectly and I'm amazed you even came up with the idea. I assume theme and innovation scores will be high in general. Nice to see someone combining 2d and 3d together as well. Maybe a bit too hard for me which lowers the fun score and I would have liked a little longer time to make up a plan before the fuel starts coming. Good effort overall.
