Restarting the game from scratch after falling down the platform just destroyed all the thing I spent time to play and build. This punishes the player so hard. Why don't you keep the progress for the player?

Nice idea and art style. Unfortunately the jump controls are a bit imprecise.

issac 2018-04-24 13:37

Cool idea. The controls feel a bit difficult -- I think it's because you can't change direction until you reach the top of your jump.

Victrola (co-creator) here. Just popping in to say the feedback is really appreciated. We ran out of time on fixing bugs and fiddling with the controls, but we love the core concept and intend to retool it into a full fledged game. So we will definitely pay attention to any of the comments. Thanks again!

I like your take on the theme and especially the art style on the cards look good. I found the controls a bit annoying and hard to handle, especially because you get punished really bad (restart from scratch) for falling off the platforms. The core gameplay is fun but I would probably have liked more of an infinit runner where you have to worry more about the cards to fill holes while automatically running and just jumping with the keyboard.

Overall good work. I can really relate to your point that hours developing ends up like minutes in the game. We took on the challenge of making an adventure game with kind of the same vibe as yours, magical girl, and it was a lot of hard work.

The controls are a bit finnicky... But nice idea.

hakita 2018-04-24 14:36

The idea is fun but the controls are very frustrating, which caused me to have a very hard time platforming.

victrola-sage 2018-04-24 14:43

Really sorry about the difficulty with the controls (and nobody's mentioned it yet, but we know the moving platforms are bugged too - we just ran out of time), I know it doesn't feel as good as a platformer needs to. The beautiful artwork is all credit to @skkramer, the shoddy controls and bugs are all fault to me (I'm our developer). Hope you like the potential of the basic concept. Thanks for playing!

Interesting!

nuclearfriend 2018-04-24 16:38

As mentioned already, controls were definitely a bit frustrating but the concept is sound and the art is nice. I think it definitely has potential! Good luck with your full game adaptation!

Very nice idea and art style. Unfortunately i could not figure out what is the win condition, i could not 'buy'more cards and there were no starts to pickup anymore! =/ The float like jump was the real problem. =/. Its a great entry still, I hope we see the full idea in the future. Good Luck!

yancharkin 2018-04-24 19:02

Graphics looks decent. Jumping is a bit annoying, but bearable. I don't get what's the game objective, am I missing something?

victrola-sage 2018-04-24 19:17

@yancharkin @eudes-franco *sheepish grin* we did not have time to put in our win condition as I spent my last available working hours trying to make it more playable. I should have thrown in a quick hail mary win with a get x number of coins or something, but by the end we started viewing the game as a basic proof of concept for a much more intricate game rather than on making this a complete experience in and of itself. SK did our description up above and we forgot to take out the mention of a win criteria. I have edited this. Thank you so much for playing and commenting!

@victrola-sage Good to know that I'm not stupid :)

I like the magical girl aura that you guys have created. It's got something from the 90s that I like. But what really surprised me is the mechanics. It's a really sweet way of merging platformers and cards. Not only building them, but affecting the platforms that were already on the map. Really clever!
