LD42 — Running out of space

Farms and Polders Tycoon by sebbernery 2018-08-14T03:53:51Z

I played this game for way, way, too long, which I think is the ultimate accomplishment. I thought the pacing was nice, the workers cute, and the options for building interesting. Well done! Is there a way to zoom out / move the camera? I kept getting caught on the UI at the top, trying to use every last square. I can't imagine getting 100 people to fit in my screen!

The Hit-Rabbit by dasginger 2018-08-14T04:05:13Z

Poor little brown bunnies :D I like the story line and the level format. Wish the jump was quicker, seemed to have a reloading time between each hop.

SuddenlyBunnies by jcwelgemoed 2018-08-13T23:35:26Z

A little buggy. I couldn't tell if my clicking was doing anything, and then all of the sudden there were a jallion bunnies! The premise is funny and the art is cute :) I love bunny pie!

Save the Tomatoes! by fractalsunrise 2018-08-14T03:21:22Z

I had a BLAST playing this game. It's a perfect blend of strategy puzzle and spammy, going-to-town fun. I really liked the sound effects (that shwoosh!). At first I was surprised that holding down W/A/S/D didn't keep you moving in that direction, but then I realized how crucial each step was, and didn't mind retapping. The levels and mechanics are really interesting and fun, several times I went back into a level to eradicate the weeds even though I had 'passed' that garden. Nice job!

Card Tower Defense by frozenfire92 2018-08-14T03:13:18Z

Cool game! I made it to the 7th wave. I can see getting more intro the strategy of card types and scores, but I still am getting the hang of it. Was very impressed with the multi-slide, animated tutorial, that was helpful!

Metal Gear Noah by Dizzy Dalvin 2018-08-14T04:06:56Z

Hello, I received a 404 at that itch link.

Too Rich Ed by Fedor 2018-08-14T02:38:22Z

I really really enjoyed zipping around with my rocket, and the simplicity of the rules. But I was confused by a couple of things: is it just about how long you last or was there an objective I never reached? Also, I thought the store pricing was backwards, since usually a bundle would offer a better value.

Too Rich Ed by Fedor 2018-08-14T03:57:59Z

Haha, ok, good to know! And I totally get why you wouldn't want to spoil it. Thanks @fedor!

20000 Leaks Under the Sea by webthingee 2018-08-15T15:14:04Z

@omnipotentindie Thank you for the feedback! We created a little depth meter in the top right corner of the game, unfortunately, it looks like itch.io can cover this feedback up, depending on how far down you have scrolled. If I had a time machie, I'd move it to the left corner!

20000 Leaks Under the Sea by webthingee 2018-09-07T19:55:57Z

@jupiter-hadley Thank you for playing and sharing! Fun to watch someone checking it out for the first time :)

Three Men in a spaceship (To Say Nothing of the AI) by d954mas 2018-08-14T03:01:51Z

I like the premise, of the characters profiles (and reaction faces!, the ambient space station, and the ever-decreasing hard drive space due to new missile codes. I did wish the profile info was always displayed, it was a little buggy revealing it sometimes and I kept flipping back and forth anyway.

SpaceRunner by jackou 2018-08-14T04:22:21Z

Nice! Clear take on the theme, nice graphics, interesting sounds, and IMO, a really good level of difficulty/duration. The win animation was very satisfying, but the lose screen made me laugh most of all. Very well done!

Taptosphere by neeshka 2018-08-14T02:54:13Z

I like the premise of actually -trying- to run out of space! Some of the UI made me laugh, like WW3. But what did clicking the Pollute buttons do? After I 'spent' everything, I was still only about halfway to fully polluting the Earth, resulting in lots and lots of random clicking.

RGBot by Jared York 2018-08-14T02:48:48Z

Ha! I love the execution, with the way you start on the title screen, to the feel of the switches, to the ever-changing map. I liked the mechanic of R G and B switches a lot. I did find it hard to land some jumps when the pixels were changing colors and hard to spot, but perhaps that is exactly the point? Also, would've been nice to start with directions/a list of controls, maybe I missed those somewhere.

FoxyPops by Mammabouter 2018-08-14T00:20:35Z

The game looks cool, and I like how the levels change, but I can't figure out how to move Foxy :( Also, I found a couple typos ("ballons", etc).

Kiki's Clocktower Run by lillypiri 2018-08-14T03:24:32Z

One person made this? Beautiful! I wish there was some sort of message when you died, to show you that you were starting over. I really love the lettering at the end. Nice job.

SubMoney by hbocao 2019-05-01T17:21:13Z

Pretty fun!! But I initially found it confusing, and had to go back to check the controls (for example, since you moved around with WASD, I assumed that was what you used to hit the arrows). I was surprised when I got caught! Lots of complexity to the game, which is impressive for a weekend.

[SHIP-WRE-KT] by webthingee 2019-04-30T18:38:40Z

Thank you everyone for the helpful and encouraging feedback so far!!

@kristinamay & @yazara our apologies, I think you experienced a bug that we found but had difficulty replicating/fixing. You don't need to detatch, but randomly the hit area for the final door would sometimes not appear, leaving you to wonder WTF happened until your battery drained :( Sorry again about that. But if you want to see the end, try the door again, as most of the time, the hit area and hover states will appear.

As some have said, yes, 'not enough time' was our theme this Jam. We had a lot of ideas and interactions that we had to strip. This was my first point and click adventure game, and now I know how much work it entails! Not trying to make an excuse of course, I am still happy with what we have accomplished, but, yes, we totally hear you about the length and linearity of the game, as we had many more complexities we had intended to include.

... Some of the things we started but were not able to complete, if anyone's curious: a level you go backwards through instead of a loop; many doors that dont open, to hide the ones that do; lockers that spend energy to open, with all empty except the one LB-ZD would hide in; videos for the cut scenes instead of static imagery; menus and other detailed UI to match the style; more sound effects, like angry beeping, haha; more dialog with a romantic subplot (and more beeps); the game level itself, such as a broken fire escape for the zig-zag area of the stage.

A Cup's Life by Anderssonkev 2019-05-01T17:16:12Z

I love that you actually offered an android app! Downloaded and played, and enjoyed the interactions and music. The death was so cute that I didn't mind, haha.

One tweak I would suggest is the ability to pick a space (like 5 to the right) and let the cup move that far and spend that much water, so the 'right, right, right, right' action is less tedious.

Pull The Levers! by jaoel 2020-04-20T23:50:01Z

Very fun. Enjoyed the Simpsons reference. Couldn’t figure out the number pads though.

Keep Me Breathing by AstroLabe 2020-04-20T23:42:44Z

Super fun and very creative!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Office Daydream by Jedeen 2018-04-24T01:45:16Z

Very cool, I enjoyed trying to play both at once and was impressed when the office tasks kept changing.

Mortal Keybat by dob 2018-04-24T02:13:27Z

Nice! Same as above, I thought the intro was a bit long (for something I could not skip), and started a couple seconds after I might expect. But once I got into the typing, I enjoyed it.

Eggplant Kindergarten by LiquidBrain 2018-04-24T01:41:44Z

Really liked the 'calling eggplant' voice mechanic for onboarding me on how to play, while still letting me click around. Nice job.

Emotional Gambler by Louis Hong 2018-04-24T01:51:55Z

Just noting a bug: there is some overlapping type in your instructions: https://www.dropbox.com/s/onogrte0y2thjcp/Screenshot%202018-04-23%2021.51.17.png?dl=0

Dive Bar! by TomPendergrass 2018-04-24T02:04:51Z

I really like the concept, but had a hard time executing on the task. LOVED the audio, like you can hear the customers getting fussy behind your back, too funny. The camera was a little unwieldy (I ended up in my own skull a couple times, haha) though I imagine you get used to it with time. Also, I couldn't figure out how to actually select/pick up the orders from customers. Maybe a bug or I'm missing something? Will replay if you comment with a suggestion, thanks.

GUNSLNGR5000 by webthingee 2018-04-24T02:08:47Z

@ErikU i know right? no worries!! thanks for the feedback

Retrograde by corc0 2018-04-24T01:30:26Z

Very unique! I really liked the way a couple words were rephrased as I played. Weird how there were invisible platforms along the way, I got caught on a couple of them and it made for a bit of fumbling.

Retrograde by corc0 2018-04-24T01:54:54Z

@corc0 yes, I agree! was happy to not have to start over  thanks!

Rogue Poker by Balint 2018-04-24T01:22:01Z

Well done! Played and enjoyed on a Mac. The art is beautiful, I love the colors, and I like how it walks you through the gameplay (i.e., "Two Pair", fading out cards that are out of reach, the boss arrow). I wish I understood the health mechanic a little better though.

If you don't mind, could you please take a look at [our submission](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/gunslngr5000)? It's also a pixel-art card game mashup with a boss, how funny

gxf1 by JLV 2018-04-24T15:19:08Z

Nice!! I think this is a great MVP version of the full game. Good visuals and sound to match the interesting mashup theme. The narrative was funny, and I generally enjoyed how the mechanics worked. Though I did wish I got to have some say in where I went, but I get this was made in a weekend! :)
