Interesting Game and nice take on the theme
Awesome!
And now I finally know the name of "Canon in D". Thanks for that alone :)
I liked the game even though I was really terrible at it. It seemed like the timing had to be perfect, I wish that there was a system like other rhythm games where your timing can be a bit off, but better timing is worth more points.
PS: The web version crashed as soon as I played the first note, but the standalone version worked fine.
Hey there. Really loved the premise of the game. Although I've never been good at games like this, I still had fun! :clap_tone1:
Play and rate mine! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/lifeforms-in-space
Omg i am bad at this.. But very nice graphics
Great game :) I liked the music play mechanic while at the same time looking out for the cops. I liked how alive the subway felt with all those dudes there. Good job.
Very cool how you made a whole subway station. I felt like hitting the notes was pretty unforgiving sometimes. Good choice with Canon in D
Quite a nice project you have here! I loved how you mixed rhythm mechanics with topdown movement! Very unique twist!
Really cool game I like it, the theme is well respected and the game is very unique, good job.
@simonl you're welcome! Here's and old (but gold!) video about it:
EDIT: oh, looks like I can't post links here. Search youtube for "Pachelbel rant"
Maybe you could make that if you press the arrow when its not completely in the circle it will validate it but with a malus , like in DDR or stepmania (ranking the input like Nice, Perfect, Marvelous ... depending on your "precision")
I like rhythms games , and the running away from the cop part is a nice addition.
Good job !!
This is a great idea and I really love your art-style! Unfortunatelly Im to slow to play the rhythm part :)
This is one talented banjo player haha
The game is really chill, the artstyle suits it very well, and the music choices is great. I just do not really feel the theme in the gameplay. I see how it is related in the storyline (the broke person who uses his lifetime to make money) but the gameplay is "just" a rythm game
Nice entry, I liked playing it!
Nice graphics and sounds. I didn't manage to win a single day. These police men are rats! And i was really really really bad at hitting the notes :/
Pretty nice, too bad I couldn't playing properly due to my azerty keyboard, also when I played and I had to push two keys, one wasn't detected as pushed
graphics and sound are good, but I think hitting arrows in the right moment could be a bit more forgiving. I barely got them right.
Pretty fun!! But I initially found it confusing, and had to go back to check the controls (for example, since you moved around with WASD, I assumed that was what you used to hit the arrows). I was surprised when I got caught! Lots of complexity to the game, which is impressive for a weekend.
Os graficos estão muito bons, só que a partir da segunda música começa a ficar bem dificil de tocar, e eu tenho certeza que ouvi a mulher do google dizer: "Socorro subi no onibus em marrocos" kkkkk
First of all, I love the premise here. Playing music on the subway, mixing it with rhythm game, I'd love to see a full game about this, with a storyline and all :)
Took me a bit to figure out the correct timing, but once I did I managed to play some tunes before getting caught!
Also, I wanted to punch those guards, hahaha
The only minor thing I'd say is to not make the counter start while the initial cutscene is still running, as it can make the player anxious to see that time slipping away while you can't do anything about - just a minor point, really.
Very solid work here!
Nice!! Enjoyed trying to stick-it-to-the-man with music! ;)
This was a really cool game! I didn't know what to expect going into it, but ended up liking it a lot more than I thought. The mechanics of actually playing a song were good. As some others have said, it would have been nice to have gotten some points for mostly hitting a note - it felt like the detection was a little unforgiving at times. It might also have been helpful if the key lit up when the note was in a good spot, even just to help give a bit of feedback as to when the user should hit the note.
The atmosphere of the game was really cool. I liked how people would flock around to hear, and how each station had a different taste. I actually loved the graphics - maybe they were simple, but I felt they really added a lot of the game. They also kind of contributed to a vibe of a game that takes place in a city where you can't play in the subway - a subtle hint of oppression or whatever, and the mostly gray/brown color scheme added to that.
Overall, this was a really cool game, well done!
Thank you for submitting your game to be played on my stream!
Once the stream is finished you can find the video here: https://www.twitch.tv/ursagames/videos If you want to know when it was played you can find your game in the queue here: https://tinyurl.com/y5rdokvp
Wow, your game is great! I had fun playing couple of playthroughs even though the game (the rhythm part) was for me really hard and unforgiving. It felt like I had to exactly on, no bad hits like usually in rhythm games. I adored the simplified graphics, everything was perfectly crafted. Choice of sounds and ambience really made the subway station feel real. You could add a sound effect every time you get money, that way you could track your performance moneywise without shifting your eyes from arrow goals. Congrats on making all this in such a short amount of time, that's quite a achievement!
