Pretty cool game, music is a bit loud maybe an option to adjust volume would be nice
It can get a bit slow-paced at times..The beginning intro seems a bit extraneous and the fact that is basically makes you wait a couple minutes to start playing doesn't help.. Also, I think I was dying from fall damage, but there was no feedback to let me know that's what was happening. Those minor issues aside, I really really enjoyed playing this game. Great atmosphere, great music. The story kept me interested and everything worked solidly. One of my favourite entries thus far!
@lusternite Sorry if it was too loud for you, did it seem balanced as a whole? If I were to continue developing this there would be sound options of course.
@spacedoubt Thanks for the feedback! You make valid points that I can agree with. Thanks for playing!
I finished the game. I almost cried. Seriously. First 5/5 stars in all categories that I'm giving. The music/sounds were spot on, the difficulty was precise, not impossible but also not easy. I'm a big fan of games with a story to tell, and this one had a lot of it.
I'm quite surprised by the amount of story and levels you managed to make in just 72h.
I'm guessing the end might change if I choose things differently, so I'll probably play this again later on.
I'm usually not a fan of these graphics, but it fit really well for this game. I loved the intro and everything.
Thanks for the game and congratulations!
Very intriguing: the music sets the mood nicely. I agree that the beginning is a bit too long. But stil, nice little game.
Very very beautiful sounds and music.
This is the best story(plot) I've ever seen on the LD37
You got a lot of gameplay packed in here- really enjoyed the twist. Played till the end. Very interesting and great storytelling. I got sucked into it. The white font was a little hard to read at the end
nice work!
One more note- the music transitions with the gameplay flowed very smoothly- that was an awesome touch and helped keep me captivated with the story - very impressed
Wow. I took a looked at the graphics and thought I was about to play some mediocre game with some obvious and shitty sob story but shit was I surprised! This is the best LD entry I've played this LD! I am huge suprised and inspired by how much you guys got done. I mean the story is so... good. And the music fit really well with each segment it played in and the world felt real. I am just flabbergasted and I tip my hat to you (if I had one)!
And the graphics are really nice too they just looked very simple at first glance :)
Wow. This flashed me. The story was full of twists and the gameplay flow was very smooth (the coolant reactor was too unforgiving tho and broke the magic a bit, since that's a trial and error section). Sounds and music like others said fitted perfectly.
I'm at the near end of the game, but I'm not exactly certain on what I have to do. I wish I could have reread the dialogue of the robot, but I wasn't able to access it again. It's the part where you enter the room that depletes your oxygen rapidly, and you get a flashlight at the beginning of it.
Anyways, I do echo the sentiment that the music was very well chosen and it is a very intriguing story. I kind of didn't see how this related to the theme, though you did allude to it with one piece of dialogue, so...I guess that's nice. It was a bit too much to read at the beginning, but I think maybe pacing those parts with more gameplay would make it more engaging and at least I'd understand the story better. The graphics and the mood are excellent, though.
Also, just a note. When I die in the part that I am currently stuck at, I hear a respawn sound that occurs twice.

Really awesome entry, I love the story and the graphics. Music was very nice as well. You are super talented in all domains of game making: great story, superb graphics, etc. Well done!
A part from the volume of the music and the rythm of the game that could be optimized the overall is cute and good. I Enjoyed it
Really nice entry. The minimalistic graphic style is cool and the soundtrack Great!
Well donE!
Cool game and great mood. I kept dying from running into fire and falling off ledges but the twist at the end was a nice tie in to the theme.
That was absolutely great !!!!!! The story was wonderful, everything was so well written, musics were just perfect. The atmosphere, the mood... Everything was absolutely great, you can be proud of this game, it is gorgeous !
I only found one bug : Sometime when going up the ladders I took some unjustified damages.
Great job !!!
Beautiful, truly beautiful. I didn't actually get what was happening at the end, but I loved every detail.
Thanks for sharing that experience.
And don't worry about bug fixing after the jam ended, it's allowed by the rules to fix them. You must not add features, but bug fixing is okay :D
Thanks so much for all the positive comments everyone!
If you are getting stuck at the oxygen level here is a small tutorial: you must shut the door behind you then go ahead and close the next, then go back and open the last door, and keep repeating that.
This was very well done, and really felt like a complete game, probably more so than any other entry I've played so far. I really liked the overall narrative with the incorporation of the theme, and the writing was solid. Although you didn't make the music, I still have to give props for the music choices throughout, which certainly added a lot to atmosphere of the game.
Some suggestions:
-The stairs were really weird to navigate, especially with how you can go up a ladder without being able to go back down. This resulted in me taking fall damage a few times, which I didn't even notice at first (as spacedoubt already pointed out).
-The coolant part felt really tight with the timing; given that it's more of a narrative-driven game, it was annoying having to do it a bunch of times to figure out the correct path/sequence of door closings.
-I guess this is a personal pet peeve of mine because of Mass Effect and stuff, but the "moral choices" felt kind of cheesy.
-Finally, I'm probably just being dense, but I'm not really sure what was the purpose of the two guys coming to the house flashback. The graphics during this part were cool though.
Again, I really liked the story: I thought it was well-paced and emotional without being too overbearing. And the graphics were very good as well. Great job!
Wow, that's some huge work! The door and oxygen system is hard to grasp though, even after we understood the basics.
We wanted to complete the game and see the end of the story but had a hard time with the controls (WASD only... think of the other kind of keyboards please). We will give it another try!
Great work!
I have a few issues. I really wish you could go down ladders and the oxygen section could have a bit more time before you run out. I barely made it and i failed many times right before i made it. I also wish there was no fall damage because i dont see how it adds to the game and it makes not being able to climb down ladders even worse. This is really good besides those issues. The mood and atmosphere are really good. I love the art and the general concept. I wish the decision made in the end was explained a bit more but great job man. I want to see more from you.
This was very close to being a perfect LD entry for me, only downaide was that some of the platforming and timings were far too punishing for a narrative game (especially on the oxygen depletion). I think you should have concentrated fully of the story aspect, which was excellent - I was really immersed in it most of the time. You created such a good atmosphere and sense of place, and the flashbacks added some nice backstory. I think the best stories leave you with something to fill in for yourself. Great ending and overall a really good entry, I'm glad I got to play it
Thanks for all the new comments. I am reading all of them closely and taking all feedback into consideration.
I'm bad at managing oxygen. Still curious about the end though. Either way, good job!
Very very cool, especially considering its 72 hours with narrative and choices. It did however further my hate of ladders, but it was nice to play a very well rounded experience
Interesting game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/3MOSAwxK9LQ
