Its a fun little game with quite charming art style and pretty good sounds. Every level has something new which is very nice. You could have used the size changers in some more levels because it could have been a key feature for the gameplay but now it feels like pretty much any platformer out there where the player only has to dodge that and push those. What I´m trying to say is that the first level had a labyrinth feel to it, that could have been expanded.

The music was quite good but it got a bit annoying in the end because it was on loop the whole game. You could have had some short pauses in the music or something.

endurion 2017-05-01 18:29

Nice little game. I like the added puzzles :) The controls feel a bit floaty but still work nicely.

aggrathon 2017-05-01 18:50

Nice variety in the mechanics. There is a small problem with platform moving downward, you cannot jump off them.

feltip 2017-05-01 20:02

Not bad, great effort. Keep at it :)

wizboom 2017-05-01 20:24

I quite liked this one! It fits the theme quite well, its charming and I dig the sounds. The main guy's animation is a bit odd, but it adds to the charm! I think the rain might be a bit difficult so early on, but overall really enjoyed it! Keep it up!

spaceman 2017-05-01 20:34

This was really cool. I liked that there were a variety of mechanics - it kept it interesting. I think the boss was a bit hard though. I also think the physics could use a little bit of work... it didn't quite feel "right." Overall really great work!

flaterectomy 2017-05-01 20:36

All the basic elements to a pretty full game are there, it just lacks in polish.

The graphics aren't very attractive, but they are quirky and everything looks like what it's meant to look like. Character movement felt a little sluggish sometimes.

The music started getting on my nerves after a while, but I am glad there was music at least.

The writing at the introduction was kind of awkward. I assume English isn't your first language, so that's fine. But it's a first impression nonetheless, so you may want to spend some extra time there in the future.

The puzzles and challenges were pretty good. I couldn't figure out how to pass the final level.

All in all it's a pretty complete entry!

aurelien 2017-05-01 20:37

It's a good platformer. I finished it, so it's says a lot already :) I liked the level where you have to avoid the rain (reminded me my game a little bit)

I wonder if it's possible to do the level with the giant plant without getting hit? If not, It means that you need to scale down the difficulty a little bit. Never funny to get hit without being able to do anything!

The music is good, a little bit repetitive but it adds to the charm. And the walking animation is the best! :D Good entry, keep it up.

zelos 2017-05-01 21:14

I feared the worst at the starting screen, but it turned out you made a surprisingly good game.

The levels were built really well and I enjoyed the shrinking mechanic. Wish there was a bit more of that though.

The graphics aren't that attractive, but they do the job. The music in my opinion is pretty annoying to be honest. The gameplay makes up for that though. Really nice variety in mechanics. I could imagine those working really well in a game with some proper artwork and music. The idea is really good.

abhimonk 2017-05-02 01:15

I thought the shrinking mechanic was awesome. I liked how the mechanics got added with each level. Also some people are saying the art was strange, but I thought it fit together with the music so well! The main character does a weird jazz-walk for his walk animation, which fit very well with the music. Overall, art style was consistent and the wind mechanic was satisfying to use on the switches. I also liked how the wind turbines (is that what they're called?) were time-dependent, so you had to rush once you started spinning one. Good job!

red-fan-games 2017-05-02 01:15

Not bad, not bad at all. It lacks true refinement, however, but the core is definitely there.

zaibakk 2017-05-02 08:22

Very cute and fun game! Is fun to divent a little gnome! :D I appreciated the humor and your care for level design! Very good entry!

pandakipu 2017-05-02 23:01

Good work buddy, it was really fun :)

breno-m 2017-05-04 02:14

Fun game and nice concept. Like @red-fan-games said, it just lacks polishment, especially when it comes to graphics. The walk animation is the best. :D

tat2tim 2017-05-04 23:13

I almost let the artwork put me off, and I'm glad I didn't! What a clever little platformer!

fueelin 2017-05-04 23:58

Great game! I really enjoyed it - the level design and mechanics were awesome. I also really liked the walking animation - it just felt groovy. Music was good, no real complaints! I guess more shrinking sections would have been cool, actually. Good job!

wildmusketeer 2017-05-05 11:56

Interesting platformer! Love the different mechanics introduced in the different levels, but thought the difficulty was a little too high. Also, were the heart mechanic used specifically for the rain? I would die instantly when I touch the plants. (Working hearts would mediate the difficulty problem I mentioned). I like the animation on the characters, especially the main character, who looks to be dancing. And agree with some of the other comments on wishing there were more mechanic reusing (e.g. size shrinking mechanic).

kalm004 2017-05-05 18:05

Wow, I didn't expect that. For sure controls and colliders could be better, but in general you have done a great job here. I finished the game. The big plant was hard to defeat.

faemir 2017-05-05 20:42

The platforming felt a little floaty but the graphics were cutesy and amusing. What I was most surprised by was your skill at making decent puzzles for a platformer using multiple abilities/mechanics all in a game jam. The shrinking one in particular could be expanded upon a lot in a longer game. Well done!

jk5000 2017-05-05 21:27

A great little puzzle/platform game. The best part of the game is it's game mechanistic, they are very simple to understand and super fun to play around with. The only bad thing is that the level design sometimes makes the game a bit too difficult. Overall a very entertaining LD game. Well done.

remco 2017-05-06 09:24

*(hm most (all?) of my points have already been mentioned, but I've had this written up before reading the comments and it seems a shame not to post it )*

The concept, the little story and the puzzles make this into a very nice submission for the compo!

You do a pretty decent job of introducing the player to all the different elements as well!

I liked that it's not just big/small, but that you have different levels of smallness. Do the seeds show up later in the game as well? (I played about up to the big plant throwing leaves.) It seems kind of a shame to use a fun mechanic like that *only* for the first room.

The music gets a bit repetitive, but it's a lot better than not to have anything to listen to.

I also liked the little walk animation

ddrkirbyisq 2017-05-06 09:51

Lol, this was actually more enjoyable than I thought it would be. The main characters' walk animation is so janky but I got a good laugh out of it!

Played through the entire game. Quite a few different things you experimented with. I wonder if you could have gotten a stronger game if you had just focused on a single one. Anyways congrats on your game.

bobsleigh 2017-05-06 17:18

Haha this game is quite good! I loved the overall humor of it, especially the walking animation. The music fitted nicely with the atmosphere. The boss was a bit confusing to fight as I didn't know where to go when I was up left of him, so I just jumped through him to get to the other side. On the last level I also lost my rock the first time by pushing it all the way against the right wall, which was a bit frustrating. I found the plant enemies decent, but I think something more funky to fit with the character would have been nice! Still, good job on this game!

dopple-danger 2017-05-09 16:32

I really like this game. The character design is adorable. The piranha plant hydra was really hard though, I wasn't able to get past it. Maybe making the timing on the leaf projectiles less random would allow players to wait for a reliable gap to slip under the beast? Same issue with the rain, it was very random and could be either very hard or very easy.

If you want to see a playthrough, I have one here: https://youtu.be/PfHYV-wErWc

vivoubos 2017-05-09 21:01

@dopple-danger Haha, I saw the video... Your reactions was so funny : Weeeeeeee ^^ Thank you so much for all the compliment :D It's very funny to see someone else play at the game :D So bad that you didn't finish the game :( You have almost finish the level!! Damn piranha plant hydra!! Good luck for playing other game :D and thank you again!!! @bobsleigh @jk5000 @wildmusketeer @spaceman Thank you for playing! Yeah, didn't wanted my game so easy, but maybe some level are too hard ^^ (due to random) @ddrkirbyisq @zelos @svarttand Yeah, I'm actually working on Magiseed 2 to focus on a stronger level 1, with the seed (rework of graphism, etc). Thank you very much for playing! :D @Remco Thank you for playing! Yeah the music... It's the first time i compose music sorry ^^" @faemir @fueelin @tat2tim @breno-m @red-fan-games @abhimonk @wizboom @feltip @endurion Thank you for playing :D @kalm004 @aurelien Thanks!! And congrats for finish the game!! Some of my friend had some trouble on the boss ^^ @pandakipu Thank you buddy! Your game so fun too @flaterectomy Sorry... I did the introduction 2h00 before the end of the jam... So I did it too fast.. And I'm french. Omelette du fromage! Merci d'avoir joué! :D @aggrathon Oh! Crap :/ Thank you for playing!

conrad123 2017-05-14 21:07

Nice job! The one thing I might add is a restart button, just for each level. Good work!

madjackmcmad 2017-05-16 04:20

Started off with a really cool idea, the seeds making you shrink, I was looking forward to lots of puzzles involving that! But then it never happened, and instead turned in to I Wanna Be The Guy, which is totally fine. I loved the arm animations on the hero, he looks like he'll never a bad day in his whole life, even if he gets eaten by chompyplants.

crefossus 2017-05-19 10:30

Entertaining level design everywhere, except for the leap of faith in the last level after dropping the rock. One note - the final level was a big difficulty spike for me but I got it eventually and felt rewarded :) I like the silly walk and fall animations. The game has a lot of life overall just by adding a little bit of animation to things which was a great idea (even the hearts dance).

You might enjoy the art in lester the unlikely! here is a random youtube video youtube.com/watch?v=6qssl3qKwvQ

shrapx 2017-12-06 16:17

The first level was kinda different from the rest. It was all nice platformer puzzles from there on. There are various threats in the game which brings good variety and kept my interest through to the end. I was hoping there would be some more shrink-related puzzles, but the end screen explains.

gamequester 2017-12-07 10:19

Why is this game in the list of games form LD40?
