LD30 — Connected Worlds

Cable Theory by hadesfury 2014-09-14T16:22:00

ETC (from Creative Sectors):
I really like the concept and the graphics. It's an interest take on music games and role-playing, so I think it could be more interesting than Guitar Hero. Maybe it needs more enemies like tuning forks or other musical instruments. It's an amazing piece after all.

Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-09-14T15:33:00

ETC (from Creative Sectors):
It's an interesting take on the topic with a twist that amaze me how creative the LD community can be. It's a clever and brilliant idea.

Your world! by Julgodis 2014-09-14T20:51:00

ETC (from Creative Sectors):
I am a fan of the 80s games (Atari, Commodore, Sony, Nintendo, etc.), so I was touched by it's graphics. I had 16651 points in the end. It's not so original, but I like the parallax background with the animated trees.

Connected Worlds Public Transport Inc. by Xeke_Death 2014-09-14T20:11:00

ETC (from Creative Sectors):
I like the old-school Galcon-like style you made for this puzzle game. In the first run I had to reset twice the third level, but after that it was flowing through my hands. It has a nice atmosphere.

The Orion Trial by jcsirron 2014-09-14T15:48:00

ETC (from Creative Sectors):
It's like Orion Trail in Space, it took me a couple of tries to evade the cursed 'randomly encountered random encounter' that kills the space travel at a randomly chosen interval. Anyway I found it funny, but the lack of interaction wasn't countervailed by the jokes.

Taxi Space by DrCicero 2014-09-14T15:21:00

ETC (from Creative Sectors):
It was a nifty little gem that reminds me the 90s games like Space Taxi, UGH! with the top down view similar to the shoot 'em up style. I found the game screen small on my FullHD monitor, thanks for Firefox's zoom function, so it wasn't a problem longer than 30 sec. Anyway I find the idea interesting with the funny story. Maybe a repair system give this gem a new edge.

Trish & Trudy by katydid 2014-09-14T15:55:00

ETC (from Creative Sectors):
It's strong side is the pixel graphics, that I really like. I found the map size small and had the problem where one of the twins is stuck. May I say my twins had a short life because it always ended.

Tesseract by UoLCompSoc 2014-09-14T17:36:00

ETC (from Creative Sectors):
It's like the old Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and Dragon Warrior games and like that strange similarity between this and our games (Conexus Terra). We built on the narrative context instead a fighting role playing style. Anyway it was a great experience to crash into the final door, it was a great surprise.

Pulley Planet by Patacorow 2014-09-02T20:40:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Nice and sharp! I really like this one. Good mix of two fine genres. The retro graphics are just lovely and the musics with those sound effects are packing a fantastic atmosphere. Got to wave 24 on second try. Did i mention, that for a button-masher, your game has quite comfy controls? Oh well... 'nuff said. Keep up the good work!

Just too damn buggy, but I won't give you any stars less for it, I'm sure you're going to fix most bugs.

Spectrum by dark_hunter 2014-12-10T15:42:00

Well, I've got XNA 4.0 installed already, but XNA always fails as hard as it can. Never rely on it...
Aside from that, gameplay wise the stuff is cool, I love the mechanics, the music is cool, but additional sound effects could help. Cool.

Night of Slaughter by LogicielAllan 2014-12-10T17:31:00

Well, it's COOL for something that was made in 9 hours, 26 mins and 9 seconds. On the other hand, if you were working ~30 minutes more it could have been like 1000x better.
This is a JAM entry so people had like 62 hours more, minus sleep.
Sorry, but XNA and .net framework dependency isn't nice either. Dropbox is also a lot better to upload your game.

The graphics are "typical paint" and we have a black main character on a black background. About 1 minutes of work.

The audio was another weak point, you said it's 8bit, but 8bit doesn't mean you can't have a background music. Making a looped background music takes ~5 minutes.

Humor was fine, the names of the zombies made me laugh. X)

In short: This is awesome.

Long version:

The graphics are nice, the audio is catchy and I'm sure it is infinite amount of fun to play with someone - I don't have anyone else here to play with at the moment.
Keep up the good work!

Damn, looks cool, I'd like to rate it and gamepad happens!
Got 2 gamepads, none of them are recognized by the game. Description of the game has nothing about what should I try to emulate even if I want to try it THAT hard.

Can't even try if it works as I wasn't able to find a single button to shoot on the keyboard.

Sooo, I guess I'll skip this one. I didn't want to, but I have no choice. Is that so hard to have a keyboard controlled player on a PC game?

Looks good, it's funny, but it's annoying that it always drops you back to the beginning...

Extra special mega-thanks for my grandma for being awesome and feeding me for ~25 years, especially now. She worked hard so that I won't starve to death while developing this game. Not to mention the industrial amount of tea I consumed.

Supreme thanks to Near for slapping mah face virtually, so that I don't give up. Not to mention her help with testing.
Another healthy amount of thanks to Morgoroth who worked a bit as creative staff and the tentacle-supervisor. Yep, the only tentacle monster in the game was his idea. Not mine.
Mega-thanks to XenoDragon - a friend of mine and the leader of Creative Sectors - for this chance to prove myself.

Special thanks to kittens of the world. Kitties are awesome, badass and cute.

Well, I like the stuff, except the maps are painfully large. The sight range wouldn't be a problem if the maps weren't so painfully large without much variation.

On the other hand, the game stops working quite often. I'm not going to consider that as a bad point, it's obvious that a 72 hour project won't be stable, but it is a bit frustrating. I just couldn't finish the game in dozens of tries before it stopped working.

Keep up the good work and have fun!

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Off to the Races by RyanNielson 2015-05-11T17:23:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Finger-numbing button masher, with cutesy art-work, charming humour, and a pretty simple, but very effective concept. It's definitely fun, but of course with multiple players. Good job! :)

The Way of the Unconventional Weapon by Mikel 2015-05-05T13:06:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Loved the humour and the atmosphere, but this was way too easy. :D

However, I found a small typo at the intro-scroll, where the text is: "... can reach the highest of the >> skils << ..."

Keep it up! Good luck!

The Follower by Stending 2015-05-01T23:12:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
A short, thought-provoking story, with a perfect ambience. I just love stuff like this. It's a shame, they always tend to be so short. This entry is more like an interactive lil' movie, than a game, but of course I'm not complaining. Shows that you can interpret the theme in such many ways.

Loved the art style, the dialogues, and the music. I'd love to help the traveller even more, in more complex situations, but I know, that 72hs are just not enough for everything we have in mind. (at least, in most of the cases)

I've found some anomalies though, that I thought to report:
* At first play, I've switched the game to full screen, and after the rest at night, next day the traveller's sprite disappeared. The game went on.
* If you let the camp-fire to die out, it's sprite will eventually emerge upside-down, growing. (Is that on purpose?)
* Tried the possibility of defeat at the road-piece with the monsters: after dying from a) a scorpion b) a spider, the dialogue "Wow, there are scorpions around here!" emerged twice, at the checkpoint-restart.

Small stuff, thought I mention them anyway.

Congratulations for submitting the game, keep up the good work!

Kodama - frail echoes by geekdrums 2015-05-05T15:13:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Very-very unique lil' sound-based puzzle game. I'm really fond of it. The music fit well, imagery was trippy, and interesting. Shortness is present, but not really an issue, since we had little time to make something. I loved it!

Keep on making stuff, I really like to see more games from the team! :)

Echoes of the Forest by Midnight Creators 2015-05-02T10:22:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Nice visuals & music, a loveable eerie aura, 'n some food for thought. But as the commenters said before me: the controls need some tweaking, or maybe a little direction. There was no connection to the voted theme either.

Nevertheless it's a cool concept. Keep it up! :)

Nuclear Autumn by phi6 2015-05-04T00:53:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Now this is what I'm talking about! Absolutely my favourite so far.
Controls are comfy (even on a simple keyboard), design is graphics-wise pleasant, I'm in love the music, and the atmosphere is cool. And you've managed to develop a game like this in 72hs? That's just sickeningly sweet!
Loved the level design too, (the stage is huge, and interesting, the occasional camera movement adds up to it) even if some exploring have lead me to points, where I could do nothing at the given moment. The various items, 'n utilities always gave some new value to the gameplay. Otherwise I've noticed some oddity: I've tested some resolutions, and if the frame-rate dropped: the game (at least the collision detection) became increasingly buggy. I've jumped in to walls, got stuck in elevators, 'n stuff like that. (I've played the Post-Jam version) Anyway...

Good work guys! A solid, polished and fun platformer.

The Silent Rage of The Chicken Throwing Crow Masked Man by giordanno92 2015-05-07T11:48:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Dude, that's just hilarious! :D
It's a real shame, that it's so short. Controls are super tight, and comfy, and I really liked the retro-style, purple tinted graphics. The whole mood reminded me of a DOS-era game from my childhood. (Titus the Fox, anyone?) I had some issues though. Start-up was a lil' hard: on one of my PCs, I couldn't even get it to work, regardless of the JRE version. On movement (especially jumps) there are small, glitchy lines indicating the tiles. Oh, and I didn't have audio, so I cant rate that aspect. :/

Nevertheless, that's a cool concept. And you've even created a dev tool for it? Nice! Please make a post-jam version!

RUN -> JUMP ^ DELIVER by shadow64 2015-05-04T10:30:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Aw, a cute one! Reminded me of those high score racking DOS-era games. Cool music, charming & simple graphics, fluid gameplay. Not much depth, but considering you've made this in 18 hours, it's pretty good.

Keep it up! Looking forward to the new content.

Unconventionality by Creative Sectors 2015-05-05T12:44:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Thanks for the generous feedback, fellow devs!
Got the opportunity to say a few words: Yes, the battles are pretty standard turn-based quarrels. The twist, and the unconventionality comes in with the changing colour palettes, which are present at the weapons too, and was the base of our idea.
For example: you start with a spare Moon Sword (which was given to you by the trader at the start point), and as you hunt down Moon Ghosts, you can eventually upgrade your weapon at the smith. Your beginner weapon becomes the Jade Sword, which can hurt enemies having the Dark Green palette, but can't hurt the original Grey palette monsters. Our idea was to start with a basic set of 4 grey colours, and as you advance, you can go through a Dark Green, a Light Green, and eventually a full coloured world. (By the way: we emulate the 3 basic Game Boy-types: black & white, original dark green & light) Of course, you have to use weapons of different colours on enemies, as they appear to have different palettes. This is were we failed, as we can only put out a tiny demo by the near end of the deadline. At the moment: we only have two different monster types, the puny Moon Ghosts, and the Jade boss, at the end.
We plan to make a post-jam version though, with the original and full idea in mind, with a bunch of stuff, that didn't made it in the Ludum Dare version.

Oh, and we opted out the Graphics, because our assets were previously created. (The week before the jam, we wanted to have this old-schoolish' look, regardless of the theme)

I hope, I cleared some stuff up four you. :)

Have a nice week, and good luck!

Her Pen by Miko 2015-05-03T23:10:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Hey-hey, a visual novel? That's a new one for me! (at least @ LD#32) Nice!
You've created a neat lil' atmosphere there: the idea is cool, the tension is present, and your art-style is an unique one. I also liked the text-parser style interaction, that's just rare these days. The game was pretty short, and therefore was just a few points where you could take control, but I'm sure: this could've been a more complex, or a deeper project, if it didn't have to be finished in 3 days. What's your plan, will you continue the development?

Anyway, congratulations on your submitting. Keep it up!

HARDWIRED by SonderWorks 2015-05-01T21:48:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
Heh, a twisted theme, and a pretty unconventional weapon! Cool! :) Graphics look great, and you've got the asylum-for-gamers tone just right. I actually managed to finish it (got out), but thanks to the aforementioned lil' bugs. (especially: trapping the guards at the canteen) Without them, you could have a rough time, as there are no save option, or checkpoints. The game is pretty hard I must say. There are just a few notable hiding spots, and sometimes the double guards can really make your life a living hell. Even the cord-tripping feature can't help you in some situations.

I'd really like to see a polished aftermath-version of this, as with the right tweaks, it could be quite an unique gem. Nice!

Congratulations for submitting the game, keep up the good work!

AllergicRun by filipe.silva 2015-05-04T10:00:00

Lazarus-omin (from Creative Sectors):
A little to repetitive for my taste, but the game works just fine. With a little practice you can easily determine which projectiles needed to be thrown at enemies. Weapon-wise, the unconventionality is present. I've noticed a little something: if you die, you can still shoot, laying down. Maybe that's worth a fix. :)

Congratulations for submitting the game, keep up the good work!

Aetri by oskardevelopment 2015-09-13T11:19:00

"Aetri is a real time strategy game that's inspired by the classic board games of it's genre."
You should have tried to simply make it a turn based strategy by default - yes I know there is a pause button - and it would be good.
Other than that, the game tries to rush and I know what was your original destination, but you didn't reach that. Summing up: this isn't the next clickfest of the era.

This strategy game is too fast paced to be enjoyable by default for anyone who likes strategy games in the first place.

BROYOTORUSUM by PnDAA 2015-09-14T16:47:00

This isn't fun at all.
After reaching level 3 it's the pure essence of frustration.

Althrough I managed to beat the game, it doesn't have anything to do with skill or aim, it's purely random: if 10 small entities spawn before a tree - and you manage to pick them up -, you win.
If a tree spawns, that's guaranteed to drop you back to lvl2 without mercy.

Hands down, it's a good entry, but the mechanics need some work.

Nonetheless, the graphics are good enough and it is innovative. Keep up the good work, just please, next time, make it a bit less frustrating.

Best. Game. EVAR.
Seriously, better than Skyrim. Way better.
You ever wanted to explore a world? Now you can do it in this game.

The soundtrack is godlikely mega-awesome.
The graphics are nice.
The controls are fluid, the gameplay flows like water. I felt controlling the game like never before, this level of dynamism is missing from even triple A titles like Skyrim and such.
The mood was perfect and relaxing.

The Monster Inside by xWarZonex 2015-09-14T20:40:00

Well, I can say, the game is quite innovative, I haven't seen anything like that since the NES game Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, so that's a strong point.

Storywise it was simple, but kinda deep, something that perfectly fits Ludum Dare I think, not to mention it does fit the theme nicely.

The visuals are really rad, it really goes with the theme of the game, your choice of visual art style is simply perfect.

Forcing the Dubstep thing onto it on the other hand was a bad move. It just doesn't fit IMHO, kinda feels the exact opposite as it should: monstrous.

The mood was fitting, I liked it.

Of course, the sounds is a bit irratating and I can see that other things require some work too, but keep up the good work, I'm sure you'll get better and better at this. X)

Incredibly good, the controls react as they should, it looks cool, it sounds cool, it plays cool.

The only thing is: we can't finish it.

As for a final post Ludum Dare game it's fine if it takes hours of practice to finish, but for testing you could really have had toned down the enemies a bit as you might read it from the comments, nobody made it through the second wave.

Anyways, the game is awesome, from the genre this one is best I've played so far. Keep up the good work!

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Crabby Puzzles by Verrazano 2016-01-04T16:08:00

[ETC from Creative Sectors]
I love these little platformer games, where you should use your brain and precision to handle the levels, it is a really nice interpretation of the two button controls. The music and your art style fits really well together. The puzzles were nice and sometimes hold some suprises.

AVOID RINGS by misson20000 2016-01-04T15:53:00

[ETC from Creative Sectors]
It's one of the RYTHMic avoiDANCE games with I sometimes feel frustration: When I reach a pretty decent distance, I start to feel comfortable and then just BANG! back to square one. The music is quite catchy and I waited it will follow the game flow and speed up to give you an audio clue like Aztec Challenge (if it doesn't have any counter). I really liked the ending music and agree on that music is not fit into your gamestyle.

Frogtale by rzuf 2016-01-04T23:55:00

[ETC from Creative Sectors]
It is a really good little RPG with a great soundtrack in the background. Sometimes I forgot to left pushing of the Z key and I was always in motion to avoid any enemy contact. The soundtracks are really nice rythms that fits the game really well. It contains some healthy humor and a story that's good to see and play.

[ETC from Creative Sectors]
It took a couple of run to fully understands what's happening on the plant screen after my changes in the lab. I really like farming and tycoon games and it was a great game to chill between two action-packed games. I like your unique approach of the Growing theme.

[Lazarus-omin from Creative Sectors]:
Cool lil' project, which accurately describes some of the elements of the LD game making process. :)

I had no problems with graphics, and I liked the mini-games too. Best aspect was the humor though, at least for me.

Congrats' on the game, keep it up!

Snowman Builder Extreme by zenmumbler 2016-01-05T00:40:00

An interesting twist with the growing and it really fits the title. It was great to see there is phisics in this game, even if it is a little off. For the first time I missed to collect some better items for my snowman. On my second run I got 18 items and it was enough for a "Packrat" title. The music is funny and goes to the theme.

Tamagotchi Hell by Troyan 2016-01-04T22:47:00

[ETC from Creative Sectors]
It has an interest twist on the themes and overall have a nice feeling in itself. Sometimes I found myself stucked by timing kills. The atmosphere is unique and it has potential. When I saw Tamagotchi I started to remember those pixelated versions. It can be more evil, like a Happy Tree Friends-like game. The visuals and music is blending together really well.

Midnight Runner by CustomPhase 2016-01-04T22:28:00

[ETC from Creative Sectors]
I was confused in the beginning without a tutorial I had to bash into everything I find to get the hang of the game. After that it was a pretty decent game, the art style is reminds me to my favourite era and the atmosphere feel good. It was hard to get too far because some unpredictable pattern that just kills me harshly.

Great Nation by StuffBySpencer 2015-12-15T20:44:00

[ETC from Creative Sectors]:
I like this way of approach to the theme, it's like a voting machine with real world problems. I found it very entertaining for a while, then a lot of negative events appeared before I could fill the last line, Love into positive or greenish state. One important thing I learned with this game is that you never let Power affected and keep it at least one green, to go on continously.
I really like the 8-bit atmosphere you made for this game it really goes well with the music and I love that you used JavaScript technology to create it.

Adrift: A Space Age Roguelite by srakowski 2016-01-05T01:51:00

[ETC from Creative Sectors]
The controls were somewhat hard to use and not hard to run out of fuel. I like roguelikes and old ASCII and ANSI art games. I think the concept is good, but miss some good tunes that goes well with the game. I think planetary mining is an unpredictable source of goods. I was unable to past level 13, but I should practice more.

Radivader by Piscythe 2016-01-05T00:29:00

[ETC from Creative Sectors]
My opinion is that the music is not really fits the game, but the other aspects are fit together. It was nice to see two themes at the same time. The vehicle was a little bit slow and sometimes unresponsive, so I usually end up in a circle of enemies. It has the potential, and I miss the warping shots, that could help me to clear the areas faster.

Tile Risers by et1337 2016-01-04T11:05:00

It was fun to got through the first couple of levels and after that it was a huge fun to push tiles like Sokoban-like games to get to the next level. Sometimes other individual stacks emerged, it was a short but interesting meeting.

I managed to run and I think it is a unique implementation of two button controls. The music and the font is bringing back old 80's memories and the game is somewhat similar, but the still graphics were too "real". When I got into the game for the first couple of times I didn't know what to do exactly, like the old times, where you had to read the manual.

Slum Runner by Warboys 2015-12-28T12:04:00

[Lazarus-omin from Creative Sectors]:
Absolutely loved this one! I wish it was longer.

Graphics were clean, simple, nothing too complicated, but the elements pretty much suited the mood. The music and sound effect were fitting, no complaints here. Controls take some time to master, but that's the challenge, ain't it? I pretty much liked the dialogue parts, they added a cool humor factor, and were well written, the characters were likeable.

Congrats' on the game, it's a very memorable one!

P.s.: Any plans on expanding it?

It has such a unique visual, I ended up experimenting and it really got me and I didn't realize I spend more than an hour with this game. It has so much potential. It's got me with the similarities to Minicraft and Miniventure but it has more stunning visual not counting the timeframe to create this great piece of art. The atmosphere is really fitting into my memory. You got a great balance into random stuff generation and human interaction.

@rzuf: Thanks for the kind words and the playthrough!
We definitely didn't plan grinding in this one, but a lot of other stuff was in mind at start. For example, you've mentioned the battle mechanics. Yup, those are pretty much basic, we planed a couple of other buttons in use, for combo possibilities, magic, skills and items. But unfortunately, we run out of time, so none of those are present yet. Bummer. We're kinda happy though that we could even include a single battle. Lesson learned: we need to focus on our schedule.

The "Two button controls" theme was an interesting one, that I really wanted to tackle. Little did I know, how much time will it cost us. My dev partner even warned me about it, but I was too stubborn. My bad, next time I'll be more cautious. However, in a post jam version, we won't have to keep it all the way. (Maybe at some places it could be interesting) Oh, and the secret behind the story is nifty one. :) Stay tuned!

[Lazarus-omin from Creative Sectors]:
@Piscythe: Thank you for your kind and constructive words!

In my opinion, the stuff, first of all needs to be a game to be... a fun game, eh? :)

We planned a lot of interesting choices (in fact: locations, dialogues, mini-games, battles), but we managed to do the work much slower than we excepted. It's scary how those 3 days disappear in an instant, really. It was my first full-timed Ludum Dare, and I'll admit I f*cked up way to much time on some things. Lesson learned, I'll try my best in the next challenge!

To give you some more exact answers: the fireball mini-game would damage you before the battle, and you would start the boss fight with less health obviously. But, a nasty one liner even managed to kill this possibility, as you start the fight with a full HP-bar anyways. So, yeah... Messed up again. Lame.

As I've mentioned before in one of my comments, we planned to use more buttons in battle, for combo, skills, magic, and item combinations. Unfortunately, we don't have those features yet, so it'll take a tonn of work, to make this project into a full-fledged video game. Hence we announced it as more like a tech-demo. I feel that this is the truth.

As for grinding, we didn't planned that.

Thanks again for your questions!

@Bobsleigh: I see you like this art. I tried to aim for a Commodore 64 visual style: use a 16 color palette (contains the original VIC-II colors: http://www.pepto.de/projects/colorvic/) and the graphics are based on RPG Maker XP RTP (RunTime Package) graphics. My original plan was to create a somewhat Commodorish art style on PC as close to the original as possible. Personally I tried to find a solution between the default resolution (640 x 480)and keep the original Commodore 64 limitations. What you can see is a middle ground between the two at halfway, for example: I didn't had enough time to follow the 8x8 cell standard on coloring, while I used the multicolor graphic mode (original: 160 x 200 resolution, and 4 color in one (8x8 size) attribute cell). I still thinks I have to make the graphics more close to the original to have the intentional Commodore 64 feeling both in audio and visual fields.

Music-wise we had two options: none, or one. I had a couple of songs planned (5-6 sprouts), but we only had time for one. So, that's one thing that went wrong. And yeah, the gameplay is unfortunately kinda' slim, so that's the main aspect, that we need to work on. To have solid "G". :)

Nowadays I think, that the idea was way too big for a 3 days game-making event, so yeah, to finish this story properly, tons of content creation will still be needed. That's especially true in the case of music. (Just mentioned that part in my previous comment) The battle is pretty much basic too, but as I've said previously, we planned more buttons, combo & magic possibilities, etc.

Thanks for the info on Slum Runner, I've read your article on it today too. It was a good choice to release it as a Jam entry! :) Best of luck!

[Lazarus-omin from Creative Sectors]:
@kardfogu: Thanks for the meaningful comment Dude! :)

Yeah, we have some quicktime eventish stuff in place, because they don't need a lot of buttons, and if they are planned right, can become fun interaction points. There are a couple of games, that prove that. Unfortunately, skim content, or story makes things duller, and slower, so we'll be more careful with decisions like this.

Obviously, we could show only the first segment of a much greater story, and that's quite the shame, as we've prepared a lot of interesting stuff. However, a post jam version can fix that.

Graphics-wise we can do some adjustments to emulate the Commodore-era standards even more properly. ETC mentioned that in one of his comments above.

I'm a little disappointed in our music department, as I've only managed to write one song, because we ran out of time. I had a lot of ideas.

Humor-wise we didn't go too far, everything went, as expected.

We aimed at a lil' darker, more serious tone, and we managed to keep it under control, but again, with more content, more of the story, it could've been better.

I appreciate your comment pal, and wish you best of luck!

Dragonic by jsmars 2015-12-15T21:03:00

The visual is stunning for a game for such a short time-frame and I love this atmosphere. What I found disturbing is that the random generator presses you to evolve further when you are an egg by smashing into a bat, but not counting this, it was a really relaxing dragon game.

Lost Contact by commodoreKid 2016-01-04T22:23:00

As a tower defense game sometimes I feel the need to conquer a lot of space before ending a level and it was good. It reminds me of UFO: Enemy Unknown and Space Hack at the same time in a positive way. The music is goes along with a great atmosphere. Sometimes I experienced slowdowns or unresponsive turrets even if nothing changed. It was unpredictable to lose turrets because of inactivity, but brings some balance if you are way too powerful.

I really love the pixelated art and your concept twist is neat. It took me four or five run to get the core of the game. It was quite long to finish this gem, more than one and a half hour is longer than the average entries here. Where I was lack of interest is the testing behaviour, that I usually play with Ludum Dare games to see all the possibilities. There was a couple of items and maps with enemies, but I end up consuming a lot of time with battles and healing. It was an interesting twist with the two living buttons concept and I like the conversations except the unmoral priestess.

However, things were happening so fast, that in the beginning I just kinda' mashed the buttons, without a strategy. It took some time to learn how this stuff works. Bodyslam is a real saviour. After a while, the game becomes repetitive, but with a beat 'em up style level design, this could become something special I think.

For me it's looked an Age of Empire-like strategy game with survival elements without war. I loved the concept but some bug always caused me trouble to navigate and stay alive with the habitants. The user interface is simple and the graphic elements are not informative enough. I feel the music is really close to Banished.

I love the Fire Emblem-like graphic and the two button control concept is really great. I love how you implemented a real time battle with a neat attack/defense style. Somehow I missed healing items, so I had to master the defense to keep alive for the stronger enemies. Really like the pixelated art style and the items are really reflected on the heroes.

Loved the overall frame: the graphic elements were coherent, pleasant, the music & sound effects were perfect add-ons to the mood, and as a fan of E.V.O. - Search for Eden, I pretty much liked the mechanics too.

Start was a lil' cumbersome, but got the hang of it soon. Only one small detail looked a little extreme for me, and that was the momentum of dying, with all that explosive blood. :)
