LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Snow Problem by TehSkull 2014-12-11T10:10:00

Is there an "unexpected" category winner? I think I found it.

Your Screen is Mine! by D3zmodos 2014-12-11T10:03:00

Excellent use of the theme, great gameplay. Audio stopped working after the first collision for me, but everything else was great!

@sorlock @rzuf @Budi @hissssssssss Thank you guys for giving this a try.

Instructions have been posted, but I humbly recommend/request you wait until Wednesday to try the game so that I can undo the undoing I did when I rolled back a git commit that not only had bug fixes, but over-zealous refactoring as well.

Thanks!

I forgot to post in here (to identify which comments came after), but there has been an update released. I'll be continuing development, but I'll separate any versions that implement new features (there were many planned) so that we can be ranked on our actual Jam time limit output.

Thanks again everyone :)

@Headchant per the rules minor bug fixes , major big fixes involving crashes, and typo fixing is allowed.

Te .love was tested on both linux and windows, using Loce2D v 0.9.1. What version are you on?

Apologies for the typos. On mobile at work :-/

Sorry everyone, bad build, new one uploaded (and tested)

@Germanukol I guess I need to balance the power of the friendliness rating a bit better

Sad Little War-Bot by sorlok 2014-12-10T19:31:00

I enjoyed it, simple, yet fun. I also experienced the bug of bombs blowing up right in front of me. Level four was harder than level (I think those were the numbers, the one with all cactus, then the first time you see the humans).

Allowing custom levels is cool, bonus point in 'Overall' just for that.

Force Feedback by kumoi 2014-12-10T19:05:00

This looks soooo good but it won't run on my laptop. Not sure if it's because it's linux or if it's some other reason, but the Unity web player isn't loading or anything :(

Victorian Circus by ilokimo 2014-12-11T10:22:00

When the window is scaled at less than ~1200x760 the lever and selection boxes were hidden behind the animal selector for me. I eventually figured it out. A+ for weirdness, humor, and art for sure though.

The Condor by JNT 2014-12-10T18:53:00

Pretty fun, a nifty spin on a familiar concept (over head room shooter). Negotiating is pretty rough, dodging the bullets is fun, but the game is pretty difficult. It has potential.

Congrats on developing a project. For future reference - you can use pre-existing code in the jam, as long as it's documented.

I recommend continuing to play with Love2D and writing some basic utilities for it (asset management, state machine, etc), and putting them up on a public repository. Then when the jam comes around you can use that code to jump start to developing the game rather than the underlying engine.

I say this as someone who did not do so, even though I knew I should. :-/

Keep it up :)

BaG by Kwarf 2014-12-11T10:28:00

Could not effectively play. After installing deps and getting it to run, I had a black map, and the score, presumably at the top. Pressing arrow and space bar keys made a '50', then '100' jump around, but no character or lights.

Mobster Massacre by Shpuld 2014-12-11T09:58:00

Works well for me, slight graphics issues with the mouse cursor but nothing major.

I really enjoyed this take on the overhead shooter. Good job, especially as a compo entry!

Legend of Feleria by Dietrich Epp 2014-12-10T18:02:00

Looks cool, would love to try it if you get a linux binary up!
