Nicely done entry, it was fun to play it!
Keep up the good work!

Well, nicely done with the theme. Also, the audio is quite good.

Sun Station by RARoadkill 2016-01-04T16:42:00

Well, interesting. The problem comes at the point that we have no visual indicators about what does what or anything.

When I saw that we have a fully voiced intro I was sure that we get a proper tutorial. That wasn't the case.

We got indicators that something is bad, bring buttons there, smash them and nothing happens. Rinse and repeat the game over, over and over and over. That is to say, the game is confusingly buggy, at first I thought I'm doing it right.

Other than that, the visuals are impressive, the sounds are good, the voiced intro is clearly awesome and it had some of the Fallout feeling in it. The implementation of both themes is just perfect. Definitely a solid entry.

Keep up the good work!

Snake Scape by mockthebear 2016-01-04T21:16:00

Ladies and gentleman, this entry is clearly the way to win Ludum Dare, these guys could write a guide on winning Ludum Dare as this game is perfection created within an impossibly short time.

Snake is specifically the best fitting for both themes running. I've seen one snake, it was lacking, but it was kind of fun.

Now this one, is clearly superior to countless entries I've seen. Not only it looks faboulous, it plays like a charm, it has a wonderful audio and its cartoony style and consistent art style creates a funny "play me moar" mood.

Too bad I wasn't able to finish it during the ratings, but this game looks like an almost finished product for me, something that clearly hits the requirements to be released.

Keep up the good work!

Love the mechanics. Awesome entry there, clearly one of the most innovatives I can think of.

Gravi Blitz by NIGIC 2016-01-03T20:15:00

Very solid entry, I always love to see multiplayer Ludum Dare games regardless of the fact that I have noone to test them with.
This one was among the easier ones to test and the more interesting ones.

I'll be honest, the audio has its problems, but I don't think that it would be that bad as others said.

Altogether, nicely done entry, these are the ones making it worthwhile to participate in the rating of the entries.
Keep up the good work!

The Tail of Zlatanas by Gaspard_ 2016-01-03T15:24:00

Sorry, but I can't make it work either, despite being an IT professional myself. That's java.

Java just doesn't work. It was awesome like ~10 years ago or more, way before Oracle got its hand on it, but that age is long gone.

I'm sorry, but please, next time avoid using java.

Radivader by Piscythe 2016-01-03T19:51:00

Very well made game, the mechanics are fun, the game runs like a charm, the boss builds up the mood, the audio is nice, the visuals are asthetically perfect and matching and both themes are perfectly built into the game. Awesome entry.
Also, thanks for the critic rating of my game. X)
Keep up the good work!

Harvest Dues by rojo 2016-01-04T18:24:00

Surprisingly good for a farming kind of simulation and the whole growing theme is well implemented. I'm not lying, it was actually really good to play it.
Keep up the good work!

Civilise by AnaglyphCoding 2016-01-03T20:43:00

Quite solid entry, I can see how hard it can be to create a strategy game for Ludum Dare, so I respect the crap of this one. While it could use some work, I definitely find it a neat entry!
Keep up the good work!

The Legend of Da'addad by DecayConstant 2016-01-04T20:01:00

The theme got nailed, that's for sure.
Graphics are among the highlights I guess, the audio is simple, but catchy.

The problem is, that this kind of randomness ruins the whole game completely, it discourages the player from trying to find all the moves.

Anyways, keep up the good work!

- Kardfogú

Bean up by Viza 2016-01-03T14:55:00

Nailed both themes perfectly - at least literally - while delivering nice 8bit style visuals. Well done!

LOAD"KHOMODORIA+2.RPG",8,1 by Creative Sectors 2016-01-03T10:27:00

Well-well, okay, here we are. This is a huge project, I know that quite well.

First of all, let's skip Overall. It depends on everything else.

Innovation: While the game plays in a unique way, it reminds me of quicktime events. The reason is clear as it is given by the LD theme and at least it's not some "press wrong button for game over" style of thing, but its clearly the weakest point of the game. The implementation is good on the other hand.

Fun: Having fun is subjective for the avarage player. As for myself, I know better, a game can be fun in different ways. It can be action-packed that turns your mind off or relaxing or it can even be something like a good book. This is an RPG and it is best rated similarly to a book. As such, the background and story is as much as you can expect from 72 hours of development, but it has the potential to be more and the characters are quite good.

Theme: 2 button controls, 'nuff said, the theme is correctly implemented.

Graphics: The art style matches the game perfectly, the visuals are not missing anything. It looks like as it is meant to be looking.

Audio: Even better than the graphics, the sounds and the music fit perfectly the art style.

Humor: Again, something slightly subjective, but in a serious RPG the amount of humor this project got is quite close to optimal, so it didn't break the mood.

Mood: As I mentioned, it's quite serious. Politics, black magic and stuff, I love this kind of stuff, the mood was built up, too bad the story was cut short due to the limited amount of development time.

Overall I find this project awesome, I wish I could do something like this within the same timespan...

Beyond Happily Ever After by MoonlightBomber 2016-01-04T20:49:00

Well, this one totally nailed growing! It was fun, it looked good and it has one hell of a perfect mood!
Even as it somewhat missed the gameplay part, I don't feel like it would be a mistake.

Earth Invader by nihilaleph 2016-01-04T20:26:00

@Nihilaleph
Yeah, we probably were the bad guys, but in war against an immobile object, they had the option to give up or flee and they decided to not. After consideration, their mistake! xD

Snake by JoshyOshKenoshi 2016-01-04T16:22:00

Well, it is a classic game I totally forgot when it came to the themes. Both themes covered perfectly, it's kind of cool. The thing is, within the time limit it could have been improved in 3 ways I somewhat miss:

#1 Whenever I see "personal best score" I want to see it grow when my actual score reaches it. Like those awesome arcade ports for NES and SNES. I want to see both the score and personal score grow at the same time. Without that, snake is just not the same. xD
#2 Visuals.
#3 Music.

The implementation of both themes is 200% perfect nonetheless and I really respect that!

Cat Scratch Fever by SusanTheCat 2016-01-04T17:23:00

Well, I think it could have had better visuals, audio and at least some kind of reasonable ending as I traveled multiple screens.
Keep up the good work!

animal islands by geckojsc 2016-01-03T14:32:00

Space Plant 6000 by RovingSquid 2016-01-04T19:26:00

Both themes nailed at the same time is a good start.
It gets even better with the consistent and stylish graphic - hits the nostalgy-meters - and the sounds fit well too. One of the sounds is a lil' bit annoying thoe, but not that much.
Keep up the good work!

Project Sunflower by JamesTanm 2016-01-04T19:48:00

Awesome entry. Clearly among the most fun I entries I tried, really. The whole thing has that crazy machine style going on with consistent and stylish graphics, the audio was good enough, the gameplay was fun - I managed to do every single stage without using more than 1 mirror and/or prism - and had what everyone loves about this genre.

Keep up the good work!

We used to be Neighbours by axoona 2016-01-04T22:12:00

Moonflower by GetDoSed 2016-01-04T19:12:00

I'm a believer: If I push the button harder, the more effect it has in the game! This one was a game which totally consumed me for a couple of seconds.

The audio was matching for the art style, the graphics weren't bad either.
Both themes were nailed nicely.
One thing I can't understand is the horribly oversized window for the game, it was really annoying that I only had half of the game window on my screen while running the web version.

Keep up the good work!

- Kardfogú

Evolooser by ragnta 2016-01-03T10:04:00

Well, for a first Ludum Dare, you shall be proud of yourself. While the game is buggy to say the least, it does function mostly and you kind of finished it. The game is pretty mediocre, but for a first try, it is pretty much a good start I say!
Many, even some veterans tend to end up without a finished project, as such, I want to congratulate you!

Once upon a time I played a game by Stabyourself.net named Order of Twilight. It was the most fun I ever had with a game that featured ponies.
This game brings up those memories. I love this game. xD

Totally the most fun I had so far from Ludum Dare entries this year.

Temple of the Anonymous Evil Elder God by kardfogu 2015-12-25T16:18:00

Well, I fixed a couple of things about the game.
Update:
Minor bug fixed: Necrotic Sludge Slime now disappear after being defeated.
Minor bug fixed: Vengeful Blizzard now targets enemies correctly.

@ragnta:
Could you tell me more about those bugs?
As for the Slime King, I'm not sure what do you mean by invulnerable. It forgot to despawn, but it can be defeated.
As for the crash, if you don't write anything more about it, I can't fix it, if there is an error message, write down its content please!

Temple of the Anonymous Evil Elder God by kardfogu 2016-01-03T18:58:00

@Piscythe
The whole game became a grindfest so I improved skills a bit to hasten up the gameplay at the cost of balance. As for a Ludum Dare project, people shouldn't take anything close to an hour finishing a game and mine was almost that long. It was a last moment type of fix, next time I'll make the game less grindy.

About the female characters, I never take writing seriously for Ludum Dare, the issues you see there are intentional. I know how to shape strong, individual females, but they have no time to shine in a game which takes 30 minutes to finish.

Temple of the Anonymous Evil Elder God by kardfogu 2016-01-03T19:57:00

@Rex Peppers
I think there is a way to run RMXP games on Linux/MacOS, next time I'll be prepared for that as well. Thank you for pointing out!

@NIGIC
Thank you, yeah, lighthearted it is, that is the best wording for that. Regarding the battle system, I totally know how you feel, it tends to annoy me as well sometimes. =^-^'=
About the ending, good job finding it! Most of my testers failed to find it on their own! xD

Temple of the Anonymous Evil Elder God by kardfogu 2016-01-03T21:45:00

@Creative Sectors
Yeah, the priestess. She's really awful, but believe me, years later we are going to laugh a lot on how bad she is. =^-^=

Temple of the Anonymous Evil Elder God by kardfogu 2016-01-04T20:22:00

@Cluster Parable
Had to make it easier with some cheesy loopholes as my game was way too long even with that much help. As the dev it took me ~45 mins to finish my own game so I decided that some extra help should be there for the raters.

@nihilaleph
Thank you, I really appreciate your points. I myself think that my graphics are slightly underwhelming, but after all these comments I feel I did "close enough" in that regard.

@MoonlightBomber
Yeah, the battle animations and the whole absence of sounds - except for music - needs a lot of extra polish I agree with you.

@mockthebear
Thank you very much!

Temple of the Anonymous Evil Elder God by kardfogu 2016-01-05T16:49:00

@Viking Games:
Well, quite a long story there.
In regard of difficulty and power, I toned done diff and toned up skill power so that the game will take slightly less time to beat, I know that Hailstorm and Vengeful Blizzard became ridiculous, but that was the cost to make the game ~30-60 min shorter.

Exploiting the healer, another short cut so that people won't have to grind money in order to finish the game.

Every other mistake there is already known, but developing this kind of game takes a lot of time at this rate alone so I had no time to finish the music and audio and similar things.

About the ending, yes, there is a third ending there, just leave the room, don't push anything, just leave!

Rise of the Weeds by SeaLeft Studios 2016-01-03T09:54:00

Growing an idea by Cluster Parable 2016-01-04T21:46:00

Artistic, more often than not, non-figurative, sometimes even rude, that is the form of truth as far as I'm concerned. Truth is the heart of art itself.

As such, this game as a piece of art - considering the amount of development time - really nailed a couple of things.

Not sure if the art style is intentional or just rushed, but it surely fits the game!

It was a fun experience and I really love your way of thinking!

As a slightly more experienced developer, I can help you if you need some basic ideas in regards of releasing the game.

As for example, RTP can be turned off - or even put into the game folder if you used parts of it - and considering the kit you used to develop, it would be probably better to release the game as a zip package instead of an RPG Maker package.

As for a first entry, I love it, I totally love it, your art style made this game really worth my time!

Keep up the good work!

Stone Age Clicker by ZYXer 2016-09-02T21:56:00

Well, calling this a clicker is somewhat of a mistake.
Clickers are generally mindless clickfests in which clicking is not actual command, just an input.
This game however actually uses many types of different resources and such. This is more like an economy sim or strategy game like a clicker.

All my respect, this game is awesome.

@Linear
Honestly, you're not trying being honest. You try to roast me for no reason other than some weird frustration you might have. In 246 characters, you were completely unable to say anything constructive.

True, this is far less than what RPG Maker is capable or for example far less than what I would expect from myself. However, this was so far the worst theme for me and guess what, some peole have jobs and families damnit.

First of all, no, it does't scream of being made in 2 hours, because all sprites, graphics, animations are made by me. Also, the whole damn script which was a lot of work.
I encourage you to try the same in 2 hours. Spoilers, the script alone took way more.
You can't see any of the RTP used there, for the simple reason there is none used.

Also, I didn't have 48 hours, it's 72 for a Jam entry, but my family and friends took away a huge chunk of development time. Which I don't consider a huge loss, this Theme was my weakspot and I'll do better next time.

Also, next time, try to be constructive. Geez.

Schrödinger: Story of a Ludum Dare failure by kardfogu 2016-12-27T22:06:00

@Linear
p.s.: I'm not going to rate your game for the simple fact that it wouldn't be fair. Normally I'm quite generous towards people with any kind of constructive criticism, as it helps in improving my future entries.
This wasn't criticism however. As such I'm not sure if I could resist the urge to search for mistakes in the game of yours.
