LD22 — Alone

Craequ by Jonathan Whiting 2011-12-21T00:45:00

Pretty cool. Nice variation on the whole Sokoban idea. The last puzzle required a bit of concentrated thought, but it never quite seemed impossible...My only complaint is the "ending", such as it was!

Alone in the Rain by noffle 2011-12-22T06:46:00

I ragequit.

LD23 — Tiny World

Star Drill by tinymagus 2012-05-17T01:26:00

Interesting. Nice presentation...it was very hard to figure out what was going on, though. I still don't know what the flashing red blocks do, or how to move blocks around instead of just digging through them.

The other thing that bothered me is that it gets kind of repetitive quickly...I got to 34 diamonds, and I just started thinking, what was the point?

The Good Ship Higgs Boson by Jezzamon 2012-04-27T19:42:00

Pretty fun. Needs more levels. ;)

What I liked most, however, was the music. Awesome NES-like feel, reminded me of Metroid. Great stuff!

The Small World of Professor Strange by Will Edwards 2012-05-12T23:41:00

Very nice presentation! I liked how you moved to each location when you went there; the vegetable garden description was inside the garden, for example. Very clever!

Nineties Holywood Hacker by Casino Jack 2012-05-01T00:23:00

I like this, it has a lot of potential. Here are some of my random thoughts...

It's rather slow paced. It feels less like action than "Line up with an enemy, start shooting, wait, dodge it, wait, wait, dodge it, aim at next enemy". Also, because there are so few enemies in each stage, it feels empty.

It's hard to keep track of where you are. It would be awesome if there were a minimap during the shooting bits.

I got frustrated with placing pieces, but then I figured out, you can't place a piece if it doesn't match up? That does make sense, but with a little work it could be better. How about if the game checks if there's a valid path, and it won't let you place a piece that makes the path invalid? Also, what happens if you run out of room? Perhaps you could place pieces over previously placed pieces to delete them.

I'll be looking forward to later versions! ;)

Tiny Religion by dagothig 2012-05-06T19:13:00

I think the graphics and sound are great. I kinda like the gameplay, even though it's frustrating trying to figure out what God thinks (to steal a song lyric). The biggest problem I had, however, was that there was nothing showing me I was making progress. I say "build house", and I wait for a while...and it seems like nothing happens. Is there a problem? Do I need more builders? If you had a little meter going up, that would solve the problem. Come on, half the fun of playing, say, StarCraft is watching little meters go up. ;)

Phobius by deejorg 2012-05-12T01:10:00

This was great! The presentation was excellent; the animation, the sound...You kind of want to say "What sort of creature is this guy that he melts and flies around?", but, the way you presented it I just went along with it and believed it. Well done!

c!ph3r by frosty 2012-05-12T21:14:00

I get what you were going for with the timing mechanics. Seems kinda cool, but not really my thing.

My question, though, is: Why am I picking up these "batteries"? Is there some purpose to it? Can I just go to the exit without picking them up? Nothing in the game explains these things.

Recluse by chambers 2012-05-02T01:42:00

Very, very clever. :)

Phi by Thomas Bowker 2012-05-07T06:20:00

Pretty fun! Good: I've never seen navigation by constellations before, that's awesome. The puzzle wasn't too hard, as long as you found all the monuments. There was a neat atmosphere. Less good: There wasn't much to the world, I would have liked to see more landmarks, more strange things to contribute to the atmosphere. This also made it a little boring to walk around so much.

Good job! I'd like to see an improved version sometime.

Tinytanic by maartenwiedenhof 2012-05-11T23:51:00

It looked very smooth and polished with great presentation, yet somehow I couldn't figure out what to do. What does "socializing" do? It gives me friends, but it only works sometimes--why? What do "friends" actually do? Once we're panicking, what am I supposed to do, throw people off the ship? If I kick someone, does it actually do anything? If I get kicked, does that mean I'm about to die? The only way I found to die was to fall from one level to another, which does make sense, but it was a nasty surprise because nothing warned me about it. When do my abilities recharge? Also, I couldn't find the "helicopter" and couldn't figure out how I was supposed to win.

That was charming. :D

Catamari Meowacy by SethR 2012-05-06T18:37:00

Well, the ending made me laugh, so that's good. ;)

T in Y World by Tom 7 2012-05-07T07:49:00

This is AWESOME! A cool take on cellular automata and player-created levels. Also, the title theme gets into my head and makes me want to wave a lighter. Check out my level, "spark"!

Atom Planet by NMcCoy 2012-05-08T01:00:00

It's pretty fun, definitely. I like the control scheme and how you get around (it was a good decision to implement falling off the bottom and then reappearing on the top!).

It gets to be pretty frustrating, though. The appearance of water appears to be completely arbitrary. I couldn't get one to appear for a long time, then suddenly I had half a dozen in places I didn't expect. Also, I couldn't get the sky tree to grow. I figured I might need to move the clouds down, but it took too long and all my clouds vanished. Since I hadn't seen it rain for three or four "days", I figured it wasn't ever going to rain again, so I quit.

Aether by Danik 2012-05-07T23:44:00

This is actually really cool. It's the kind of game that gets you thinking about new kinds of games to make.

The problem I had was that I wasn't sure what I should be doing. I mean, I sit at one of the "battle stations" and shoot down every enemy ship, so surely I'm winning the war? I didn't feel like I had to continue on to the "mountain", and when I tried, I died...

Atomsmash by Dan C 2012-05-07T23:38:00

A C64 game! Very classy. :) Moderately fun, too. ;)

Nanofactory by Justin Mullin 2012-05-12T01:32:00

Pretty fun! It's nice as it is, but there's a lot you could do to make it more polished. A title screen, perhaps...Also, maybe a level select where you see different types of puzzles to work on, instead of just having them all thrown together one after the other.

Stellar Nurse by Bleck 2012-05-11T23:20:00

I sort of like this game. I wanted to like it a lot. However, I felt like I was fighting the controls the whole time. The rotation/thrust, while realistic and with a venerable pedigree, just seems clumsy sometimes. How about a control scheme where the ship follows the mouse? Another problem with the control scheme is that it seems like there are too many keys. I started playing, I figured out the movement and how to grab/stitch, but then I couldn't remember how to let go of something so I had to reload the game and see the help screen! Maybe you could have the controls displayed in the lower left or something. Finally, I'm still a little confused about the mechanic. It says 9 "tiles" but what does that mean? Does a 2x2 rock count as 1 "tile" or as 4 "tiles"? Also, it seems like sometimes I was able to make really small "planets", only 3 or 4 objects, disappear...other times I mashed space to stitch up a whole mess of objects and yet they didn't disappear at all. Strange.

All in all, though, it seems like a good idea, just could use some more polish. ;)

Cloud Realm by Hempuli 2012-04-30T23:18:00

It's pretty difficult to get the hang of...I spent the first couple of games bouncing off the bottom until I died. Then I figured out I have to hold W down the whole time...I think? It's impossible to tell when your guy is going to dive or not.

Astro Break by hulahulahest 2012-05-11T23:26:00

Very nice, very polished! I particularly like shooting powerups to change them. :D

There were a couple of problems, though. The first one is that the gun doesn't seem to push back asteroids at all. So you get into situations where you have the autocannon, you see the asteroid barreling down on you, you get under it and blast away...and you lose a life. Pretty frustrating. The second problem is, really, only three lives? It's impossible to play for more than a couple minutes with that setup.

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-27T21:15:00

I think this game has a lot of potential, but it hasn't quite reached it yet. Some other commenters have left some good ideas, so I won't go over that too much. One thing I'd like to see is something in the tutorial saying "Warning, don't crash into the sun!". Another thing I'd personally like is to be able to control the game with the arrow keys instead of WASD; I don't know, I've just gotten used to arrow keys. ^_^;

The one thing that bothered me was that there really wasn't any reason to go back and forth between planets. The best thing to do is visit one planet, make it A class, build up some seeds and then fly to the next planet. I think it would add a lot to the game if there were some reason to fly back and forth between planets.

Still, though, good job for this first version. ;)

Submarine: This Ain't Your Momma's Bathtub, Tovarisch by kibertoad 2012-05-01T13:14:00

This is a great game! It has a great absurd atmosphere. (I like reading text, who'd have thunk it.)

I wonder how long it's possible to play before things completely get screwed up? I got far enough to hear about Mikhail the bear, then my oxygen ran out. (I liked that the "game over" wasn't too tragic, though.) It seems like a pretty difficult game; your sailors are running around desperately.

Do the items do anything? I expected the fire extinguisher to help in fighting fires, for example, but I'm not sure I saw much improvement after I picked it up.

Regarding the story bits; I almost feel like the point of the game is "unlocking" them. Perhaps you could have a screen where you can reread all the story bits you've unlocked, and you can see which ones you haven't seen yet. Just an idea.

It's a tab by brackcurly 2012-05-11T19:06:00

Controls?

Tiny's World by tacograveyard 2012-05-12T23:55:00

Pretty sweet...in the sense that it made me go "Awww". Also, I liked that the world wrapped around; it made it feel like a space you could easily navigate without getting lost in. One thing that bothered me, though, is that it was hard to find people; you couldn't tell if you'd already whistled to someone without going up to them. Maybe have permanent "♪" balloons above their heads to make it easier to keep track? Also, the last guy was hiding behind a building, which didn't seem fair. It didn't help that I got about 1 fps. ;)

Tiny World God by Lawrence Esswood 2012-04-28T19:27:00

I didn't know what to do for five minutes, until I accidentally waved my mouse pointer down to the bottom and the menu appeared. Why is it ever hidden at all?

LD24 — Evolution

Terra Tam: The World Warrior by L 2012-09-03T21:07:00

Well...You had a strange but interesting idea; the execution was simplistic, but well done. Plus, you made me laugh. Not much else I can ask for, I guess. ;)

Selectra by lazybraingames 2012-09-03T21:43:00

It's pretty cool, but I never got to the boss fight. I got up to 999 and apparently that makes it impossible to shoot? Kind of disappointing. The shooting felt kind of random and clumsy, so I just didn't feel like trying to continue killing enemies while avoiding bullets...

Moche by Ilod 2012-09-14T15:55:00

This is really hard to figure out. Eventually I got the "point" of most of the minigames...I THINK. Still really unsure about them. (Especially the sword and shield one.) Some of them you immediately, but then most of them you have to keep playing until you get to the next one? One thing that would really help is if there was some sort of progress meter for each level, showing whether you were actually making progress. Otherwise you have no idea if you're doing it right.

The other thing is that apparently there's some sort of split screen feature but I had no idea how or when to use it. It's all so unclear.

Super Clew Land by Team Clew 2012-09-13T11:12:00

It's pretty good, but I don't like the gene system. It's frustrating when you don't have the match you're looking for, so you have to put it somewhere you've already built up and it wipes out everything you've done. It took me half a dozen tries to get to swimming...You probably put the infinitely regenerating bug there so people could grind until they got lucky, right?

The World Hates You by mcc 2012-09-04T23:57:00

Pretty clever idea! I enjoyed playing and seeing what levels came about. However...I usually felt like I was testing myself against the controls rather than the level. I was bouncing and flailing all over the place. I feel like I'd have a lot more fun if I could be more in control of the "character".

Also, it seemed like obstacles would hit me even if it seemed like they were completely "covered" by neutral squares. Like, they would touch me diagonally, somehow. Like this:

O
XOOOOO

If I came from the right, the X would kill me.

One last thing I wonder about is the security. I didn't dig too deeply into the messages, but they look like XML sent over more-or-less HTTP...and they don't include anything about *how* the player won, only that they *did* win. I have this nagging worry that someone will approve all the unbeatable levels so the entire population becomes unbeatable. >_>

Evolution Racer by crackerblocks 2012-08-30T04:44:00

...What was the point of any of that?

LD27 — 10 Seconds

NXTWPN10 by graebor 2013-09-18T00:34:00

I like this a lot. I like the arcade graphics and the variety of weapons; I played it for 10 minutes and I was still getting new types--Tron? Ram? Very imaginative. I also like how some of the weapons were better for certain enemies. The only thing I didn't like was the distortion, it often made it really hard to tell where to shoot, especially with something like Sideways. I mean, the effect is kinda cool, no question, but was it really worth the aggravation it causes the player?

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

broken by Chaoseed 2014-05-02T00:18:00

Thanks for all your comments, guys! :) For now I'm not really going to respond to any individual ones...just because judging is still happening, you know. I'll let my submission page and entry speak for themselves.

(One note, though--if you go to the directory the web page is in, you'll find a zip file with most of the source for the game. What you'd have to do to compile it is have a Flash file with the main class set as BSystem. Then you'd need the graphics as assets in the library. Anyway, the point is if you're into AS3 you should be able to figure out what's going on! Not that it's too hugely innovative or even cleanly coded...)

Water SkiFree by OddballDave 2014-05-06T12:37:00

Not bad! The gameplay is actually reasonably fun...It just got a little monotonous after a while. I like the graphics of the sea critters looming up out of the depths.

UNDER by baldwinthree 2014-05-05T11:56:00

Man, this is tough! I think you did a great job on implementing all the mechanics, though. The (I think?) randomly generated levels are cool. It has a good mix of suspense and then frantic action. The instructions are a little terse; it took me a while to realize that "attack" alone is melee, but "attack + aim" is shoot. The flashlight is interesting...I suppose the reason the flashlight batteries run out is to keep the player frantically searching for more? The funny thing is, when my flashlight ran out I almost felt like it was better because I could see around myself instead of just a narrow cone in front. Anyway, good work!

Tell Me About Your Childhood As A Nervous Goldfish by garygreen 2014-05-05T11:59:00

I haven't played it yet, I just want to say that I love the title.

You Don't Want That by Dark Arts and Sciences 2014-05-05T12:02:00

I love the idea and the fact that you went through and implemented it. (I do rather enjoy creepypasta...) Unfortunately it seemed like after a while I got stuck, or I didn't know what to do, or something. It felt like I was at a dead end and, though I wanted to know how it turned out, I wasn't able to. (Yes, I checked the source code on some of the pages at least.) Still, good work!

LightRunner by ryebread761 2014-05-05T12:09:00

Interesting. Kinda fun...It's difficult to learn how your character moves because usually you can't see them! Hm, what if it started out dim so you could see your character a bit, and you dodged stuff for a while...then it got dimmer, so things were hard to see, and then eventually it was completely dark except for torches? That would give the player a chance to learn the moves. Anyway, you got something playable in 48 hours, which is an accomplishment. ;)

Sunapsis by HunLyxxod 2014-04-30T21:08:00

Interesting! It reminded me of Kohctpyktop; that's a good thing. ;) You could do the same sort of puzzles in that game, I think. I liked the graphics and how "squishy" they were when you connected or disconnected stuff; however, sometimes it was finicky, like I had trouble grabbing the exact connection I needed. It needs a better tutorial or better instructions, I had to stare at it for several minutes before I really got what was going on. Also, the whole signal thing seems kind of inexact; I feel like I couldn't calculate exactly the number of neurons I needed for a one-cycle delay. Sometimes it seems like 4, but in the other level to get a 2-cycle delay I needed about 12 it seemed...Good work, though!

Ablate by VDOgamez 2014-05-09T02:24:00

Interesting, I like the idea! I wasn't sure how to balance time between digging and building...Although, maybe if I practiced for a while I'd be better. I didn't really bother building a base because I didn't find any uranium, so there was no way to make a reactor. So, I just kept digging downward. (Hm, the first time I played, I saw reactors in the construction menu, even though I couldn't build them. But on subsequent playthroughs I don't see them at all.) So it's a neat game, I feel like it's missing something, but pretty cool anyway!

Read Between the Tropes by Crowbeak 2014-05-04T06:28:00

You have some writing talent! It wasn't a chore to read through that whole thing, twice. (A lot of people couldn't pull that off. ;) ) I liked the stories well enough. Although...I'm not sure about the premise of the thing; tropes aren't universal building blocks, they're more like patterns people notice in various stories. Not only that, the stories didn't seem to be ABOUT tropes, they were just about something and you highlighted some tropes; seems like a missed opportunity. Also, you didn't make much use of the capabilities of Twine, as far as I can tell; I mean, there were a couple of branches, but each story had its general shape that didn't get deviated from (of course, I only played each one once...). Still, in all I enjoyed it, and I definitely think you should do more with Twine!

Beachcomber by Mase 2014-04-30T21:19:00

I definitely like the clay graphics, it make for a kind of strange, yet cheerful sort of mood. The gameplay was all right. It was a pleasant surprise to get the raft and find out there was more to the game than is first apparent! Three endings, huh? There is definitely potential for a lot of stuff here...

Nether Mind by v26 2014-04-30T23:23:00

There's a good idea in there, but...The whole thing is kind of unclear. I didn't really know what was going on or what motivated it all. The text needs some editing, I think, and there should be more of a chance for the story develop. Am I a barrel girl? What is a barrel girl? I solved the one puzzle, which was kind of interesting once I figured it out, although I had to squint at all the tiny Japanese food icons and make a guess...I have a digit code, but what do I do with it? Oh well. I wandered around, but the speed is slow and the world is so large that it got tedious. I feel like there's potential here, but...

Fish & Chips by Copix 2014-04-29T08:04:00

It's all right. Once I actually got into gameplay and figured out what was going on I kind of had fun. But the real issue I had was actually figuring out how things worked...I still have questions, like, how do I know I've collected enough food to feed my family? How many offspring do I need, again? And was there a time limit? Moving to a new place seems to make it another day, but going up does the same thing, so is there a difference--would I want to do one rather than the other? I just feel like I don't have enough of a grasp to really enjoy things...

Wireside by Solifuge 2014-05-01T06:23:00

Really fun! I'm a big fan of the premise, it seems like there just isn't enough of that sort of thing in games today. The gameplay was reasonably solid, although the characters don't seem different at all (other than the icons, which are awesome), and I was puzzled about the difference between Attack and Break (I suppose I should have read the instructions more carefully). As for controls, I have a habit of clicking just off the text, which makes the option disappear...so I have to go through the selection process again; kind of tedious. I mean, obviously you want some sort of "cancel", but maybe, well I dunno. After a while it succumbed to kind of the same thing that a lot of tactics games get (and believe me, I've played a lot), which is the "move each person...end turn...move each person...end turn" kind of tedium. Maybe you can have an option for "fast play" where the characters don't move but rather "teleport" to their new locations. Let's see, the audio is great; I especially love how it subtly changes between the two "realms" and also when you get attacked. I would love there to be a save function so I can come back later instead of having to go through the entire game in one setting. And speaking of which, I had a problem on the third level: Two characters sit in the left room and spawn avatars, the other is in the middle with her avatar at the switch. Flip the switch to let the avatars into the top, flip it again to let in the security gems. I damage the gems but they kill me; all right, I'll spawn avatars again...in order to get them into the top room I flip the switch, which *resets the gems*? The level is impossible???

But in all, I definitely want to see this game developed more. ;)

Hyper Seed by pedro.thiers 2014-04-29T05:38:00

Pretty fun! Outstanding choice of music, and having it synchronized to the action was great (although once the tune is over, it just stops; maybe make multiple levels?). The "roots" being bare bars of color was all right, but it didn't really make me think "tree roots". In my head I'm picturing roots throbbing and swirling around as they dig through the ground, but who knows if that's feasible. It was fun to play, and I would definitely play it on my phone. However, somehow I am picturing it going more slowly but with more obstacles, like almost a DDR kind of thing. You should try playtesting with different combinations of obstacle speed vs. amount of obstacles to see what's most fun. But in all, good work!

Hyper Seed by pedro.thiers 2014-04-29T05:40:00

Oh, and I absolutely LOVE how, once the game is over, you get to see the long view of all the roots you made!

Mimic of the Deep by Kep 2014-05-04T06:10:00

Pretty fun! Audio good, graphics eh but you know that. I really like the implementation of the octopus and its tentacles, as well as its variant shapes. I liked waiting until a bunch of fish were around me and then crunching them up. It seemed kind of easy, though. Also, I didn't run into any big fish? Hm. Good work, though!

The God Beneath by iSamurai 2014-04-30T02:59:00

Pretty good. I was worried I would run out of HP before I reached the end, but it turned out to be pretty short. One problem I had was that I expected to be able to shoot the critters that come out of the walls, but apparently they're invincible. What if you have some of the jellyfish first, so the player is able to shoot stuff, and then once they see the monsters with no HP totals they realize those are invincible? I like the mood and the concept of it; unfortunately the text needs some editing...and I think I'd like the whole thing to be expanded so the story has time to develop. All in all, though, good work!

The God Beneath by iSamurai 2014-04-30T03:00:00

(One problem I had with the messages was that I occasionally swam right by them and then had to go back to see them. Maybe have them stay on the screen longer or something?)

Orpheus by edemmester 2014-05-05T11:29:00

Well, for 48 hours, certainly it's an accomplishment. ;) It seemed a little simplistic...I got frustrated because you have to go back to the beginning of the 'world' with each death, so it discourages you from experimenting. Also it seemed like every now and then the character would move without any input from me, occasionally killing me. Going from "beneath the surface" to "Orpheus" is actually pretty cool; I suppose everyone knows the story, but maybe it would still be nice to have an intro or something...

Vaults Inc by Bruno Massa 2014-05-01T05:14:00

I like this a lot! The sad truth is that I never played any of the Fallout games, well not for any length of time. Still, the basic idea is pretty simple (and the 'opening cutscene' explains it well), so that's fine. I love the graphics and sound; you could probably go even MORE retro in the aesthetic, but that's fine. It's basically a board game, which is totally all right with me; I love the kind of games where you place stuff on the board (SimCity the CCG, etc.). There were a couple problems, though: When I first load the game, I can play through it, but the game ends after one turn. I know the amount of turns is random, but I want to use more strategies! After I finish that game, though, I can't play another; I can start the game, but I cannot SELECT blocks on the market/promotion screen. Since I can't select them, I can't ever buy them. All in all, though, I'd love to play this more!

Square Rooted by adamwfindlay 2014-04-30T20:38:00

So it's basically a Sokoban variant, but that's okay. The graphics are excellent, and the whole thing seems to have a great mood. I wasn't too convinced by the theme usage, though. In all it was good work. ;)

House of Clouds by Azzar 2014-05-04T06:03:00

Not bad, not bad. Your basic Lost Vikings kind of game. ;) The graphics were a bit simplistic, but I liked the banana enemies. Sound, kinda the same. The scrolling and level layout was quite good. I noticed something where the turret control only caused one turret to fire, and it was initially offscreen, so at first I thought it did nothing. I don't know if that's a bug or a poor decision, I just thought I'd bring it up. In all, there's a lot of possibility here!

Wait, if it's a "Web" game, why am I downloading it?

Final Move by Team-KwaKwa 2014-05-01T04:22:00

The graphics and presentation are top-notch. The story is a little underdeveloped, though. The main character was kind of a jerk; at least he's aware of it, but it turned me off a bit. The mind-reading thing was all right, but it really didn't come into play much. The whole thing left me with a lot of questions, like, why is he so calm about dying? why does he bother with the chess game? And so on. What this does mean, though, is that there's room to expand the game if you like. ;)

Deep Down by Cheetoturkey 2014-04-29T22:24:00

I'm missing something...I wanted to see instructions, but right-click only brings up this little window that says "Go Fullscreen, About Unity Player, Setup". I don't know what I'm supposed to do...

Enlightened by Marjie62 2014-05-01T05:20:00

I'm always up for more board games, and this has a pretty cool premise. There's a lot of possibility here. I would definitely like to see an AI so I could play single player. You could have different levels, even randomly generated ones? The mechanics are fairly simple, I wonder how balanced they are; you could possibly add more features...But anyway, I liked it!

Super Iceberg Hero by wschorn 2014-05-05T12:15:00

Pretty amusing idea for a game! I got the basic idea, but I feel like I might have missed one or two subtleties. Does sinking ships actually increase your size? Is it possible to grow back to a large size after shrinking to a smaller one? On another note (haha), I thought the music was a great fit and helped set the mood you were going for. Good work!

SlippyBlocks by pht59x 2014-05-07T14:12:00

Kinda neat. I commend you for actually finishing something that is playable, at least. ;)

Fishing On The Ice by DonovanWu 2014-05-07T14:26:00

My basic reaction to the game is "Haha, what?". I enjoyed it. ;) I especially liked the graphics, especially the guy walking. However, the gameplay was a little simplistic for my taste.

pIMGale by pIMGale 2014-05-07T14:19:00

I would never have thought of doing something like this, so that's good! And you did it with Twine? Interesting. The experience was...kinda random, I wasn't sure what the point was. Personally I think it could have used a bit more writing and explanation. In all, though, I'm glad you made it. ;)

Hellhole by bzizizi 2014-05-08T01:46:00

Not bad, not bad. I liked the variety of attacks, although after a while I found myself just mashing the buttons, as that seemed most effective. I liked the different enemies. Graphics and sound were serviceable. The controls were very...slide-y, I didn't exactly like that. I bet if you went back for playtesting and editing it could get a lot better!

Super Surface Shape Shifter by sP0CkEr2 2014-04-29T05:30:00

It was a little tough to figure out what to do. It needs instructions. Once I figured it out, though, it was all right. The graphics and sound were kind of simple, but they fit perfectly.

Above the Core by bugninja 2014-04-29T05:24:00

I do like this type of game, but it's not very innovative...If you add more features in the post-comp version I might give it another look. I definitely like the "graphics" and interface, even if it IS just CSS and such!

Find the Booty by rvmook 2014-05-01T05:28:00

It's kind of fun. Once I was able to read instructions, of course. ;) (Although, the problem on that page is that I keep moving the page up and down when I try to move in the game--and vice versa!) I think the path-finding part is pretty solid in terms of game mechanics. The digging is kind of pointless, though, since you always know what you're going to get. Maybe more events, random outcomes perhaps? Good work though!

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-09-01T13:14:00

It's kind of like how the Ludum Dare website is the ultimate connection, connecting everyone's different worlds together. I had a similar idea, but I was going to have stats and crafting or...well, I dunno, I didn't have any time that weekend to make a game. Anyway, the point is, very clever idea. ;)

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Castle-Man by Hatscat 2014-12-21T21:10:00

Kinda fun, actually! Needs a bit more polish, and definitely some instructions. ;) The music's pretty neat, though, and the graphics are okay. You've definitely got the base of some interesting gameplay here. (Well, it's *classic* gameplay...)

Winter Cow Farm by juaxix 2014-12-24T14:01:00

Cute! Great animations and music. It's kind of unclear what's going on, though. Sure, I can click the cows and get more cows...But how do I avoid having them freeze? The "instructions" say "drag and drop the cows", but that doesn't seem to do anything (it's also very hard to click and drag them correctly). And certainly once the cows are frozen you can't click and drag them. Also, how do I stop ice from taking over the screen?

So, it's good, it just needs a bit of work. ;)

Sdioretsa by Tangent128 2014-12-24T21:07:00

This was actually kind of cute. Let's see, the instructions should say "hold" or "click and hold" instead of just "click". Also, it seemed like the gravity wells only affect near asteroids; I want to see the entire screen get yanked around when I manipulate gravity! Then again, if you're doing the actual inverse-square rule, then I can see why that happened...

Break the Limits! by Volute 2014-12-25T14:27:00

That was...interesting. The graphics are great; the gameplay is simple, but effective. i wonder about the 'point' of it all, though...Certainly I'm glad you made it, it's always good to have games that try new stuff like this!

Boring Tanks by Toast 2014-12-21T21:08:00

Well, it's a start! I can't quite tell if the game is meant to be real-time or turn-based...One interesting thing is that if you click a new path while the tank is moving, the tank "teleports" to the start of that new path. I don't know if that's a bug or a feature! Anyway, good luck with the post-LD version. ;)

SNOMAN by Jon Reid 2014-12-23T01:46:00

Oh, boy. The sequel nobody wanted! (kidding, kidding) Very slick animation and physics. I mean, I think; all I saw was the snowman, I never got far enough to see anything else. ;P Looks good though!

The Tower by Chaoseed 2014-12-12T10:27:00

intersectiongames - Thanks! I did play through A Dark Room a while back...I don't think I had it in mind, but maybe there was a subconscious influence there. Anyway, I consider that a compliment. ;)

And no, it's not Twine, it's Javascript from scratch. (Just 'View Source'!)

The Tower by Chaoseed 2014-12-26T02:14:00

Thanks for all the comments, guys!

Johnro: The end is when there are no more blue links. (Technically, "You are here" is always there, to show where you are in the world/story. But once you read the end, "You are here" becomes the last line in the prose poem. That's the idea, anyway...)

American Football USA! by frosty 2014-12-21T21:06:00

This was pretty amusing, though (believe it or not) a little subtle. I mean, it made me laugh that it's the 'Cowboys' vs. 'Terrorists', and I assume the ultimate 'TV rating' has something to do with the injuries? But if you really wanted to do a satirical game, you could have hit the satire harder. ;) The animation and sound were good; the gameplay was kind of interesting...at least, it SEEMED like I was having some effect on the gameplay, though I'm not quite sure that's even the case! I guess it'd be cool if the simulation were more involved, or it were more obvious what was going on, what was the better choice to do in each situation...(Also, by the way, at some point my yard number became "NaN". I was at "1st and NaN | On the NaN".) Good work though!

Press i for inventory by mr_tag 2014-12-20T00:54:00

I like this a lot! It's kind of like the fun parts of RPGs without the tedious stuff. ;) It has a few issues, though...First, it's really hard to tell where to equip stuff. Could you maybe add a 'glow' or something on the appropriate slot when you pick up an item? Also, when you drag an item over and equip it, you still see the old item tooltip until you move the mouse. (I don't know how easy that is to fix, but it's a little annoying...) Also, do the items in quick slots do anything? Bread, cheese...the "magic potion", what does it do? It says it gives bonuses to XP and attributes, are those one-time or when do they happen? What else...Music would be good, if you can find the time to include it. ;) And one more thing, the 'Metalshirt' seems to be equipped in the headband slot, which seems odd.

But! The fact that I played enough to find these issues should show that I enjoyed it. ;)

Aaron San Filippo, Raphael Azcueta, Forest San Filippo by Aaron San Filippo 2014-12-21T23:01:00

Neat! The graphics are great, the music is cool too. I had trouble with the gameplay, though, because Sticky Keys kept turning on; maybe give some more thought to the controls. Good job, though!

The Disk of Phaistos by hi-scor.es 2014-12-21T22:59:00

Interesting! It took me a while to figure out...I see what you were doing with the game sort of guiding the player along, but it was still kind of obscure. I'm not even sure how I would make it more obvious, though, maybe it's just a tricky concept to get your head around...Anyway, I definitely like the idea. The problem I had was that it's really difficult! Only one hit is kind of unforgiving. The incessant flashes are a little painful, too. By the way, could you maybe make "A" jump as well? That would make it a lot easier to control. I'd like to see an improved version of this, there's interesting possibility here. ;) Maybe an easy level to start off with, harder ones later?

Party Greeting Simulator 2014 by Bemmu 2014-12-25T15:05:00

Haha, this was cute! The graphics are a little simplistic, but they give a nice silly atmosphere. Actually, I could probably say the same thing about the gameplay. It made me laugh, so that's good! I got 814 points.

Cursed Islands 2 by rzuf 2014-12-29T21:17:00

Pretty fun! A bit difficult, though, I can't really get anywhere without dying...Still, you got the entire framework of an RPG, and the graphics are cute. So, good job!

entropy by alyphen 2014-12-20T16:52:00

Interesting, and I always like a good visual novel...Certainly the graphics and music and everything were good. But I didn't really get it. All these people of different factions, wanting different things...And I don't really know how I'm supposed to influence the outcome of things. I mean, there was only one choice I made that didn't involve answering the door. Wait, two choices. But really, it all seemed like a bunch of vague stuff that you can't really understand...

KRUNCH! by Loginaut 2014-12-15T03:39:00

Heh, well, it's kinda cool. The animation is good. And the sound! Still, I had trouble playing with it. I couldn't get the first door open, and I kept looting everything on the first floor over and over...all I found was a 'wallet', who knows what that does. Then finally I went to the door and...pressed something? I don't even know what happened, but I got through it. Only then did I actually get to play the game 'for real', I guess. Anyway, I guess it was kinda fun.

Puzzle Pieces by andreimarks 2014-12-22T02:01:00

Wow, this is kind of amazing! Some very slick graphics programming going on there. The problem is that there's nothing really showing what pieces go together, so you just gotta move them around until they 'attract'...

Alchemia by blzkz 2014-12-12T01:08:00

I liked this! Well, it has some problems, admittedly. ;) Some of the stuff I was able to guess with what little I know of alchemy, but some seemed random...Like the Quintessence level, I had to try all 10 combinations, and it turned out to be the last one! (Incidentally, are there any combinations that are more than two ingredients, or is it always just two? Might want to mention that somewhere.) I still can't solve the platinum/gold/silver level. How about somewhere that gives hints? Or maybe a feature that shows you 'recipes' you've unlocked; I notice there's a book on the table that is just waiting to be clicked. ;) And finally, while clicking I got this message:

___________________________________________

All in all, though, pretty good!

$2000-$3fff by ianh 2014-12-20T01:01:00

Wow, pretty amazing! I love the idea of showing the computer memory as the playfield. My one issue is that it didn't feel "game-y" enough, like you really weren't "playing", just fooling around to see what happens. But hey, for what it is, it's great. ;)

Who cares Entire Game? by bukt 2014-12-13T20:30:00

Playing the game is like "Pause-wait-Resume-Exit-New???".

It's clever, though. I'm glad you took the time to make it. ;) Also the music's great, heh.

Those Walls by SimianLogic 2014-12-21T22:54:00

Kind of a clever mechanic. Somehow it doesn't feel like an entire game, though. Well, you probably know what I mean...for 3 hours of coding, it's pretty good!

WASD by ChrisMingay 2014-12-13T20:36:00

Nice! What are the controls? ...just kidding, I couldn't resist. Anyway, the idea is solid and you executed it pretty well! Controls are nice, except I sort of wanted to be able to move diagonally too. The other thing that bothered me was that there really didn't seem to be any point other than "explore some area with hazards". I'm not necessarily asking for a story, but...maybe some interesting scenery that gets revealed, maybe some items that give you new abilities? I think if you put a bit more work into this it could be really cool!

Skyfarms by GagaPete 2014-12-09T11:46:00

Well, you managed to make a playable game in a weekend, which is a good accomplishment. ;) The animation and sound are excellent. The gameplay needs something...some progression, an end, a goal...maybe something that builds off the idea of 'sky farms'? Keep working. ;)

A Maze in Space by GSM Productions 2014-12-09T12:10:00

I love the graphics and animation! I can't quite wrap my head around the gameplay, though. Is it just sort of gamble as to which column goes? Is it ever possible to make the robot or yourself fall out? (Morbid curiosity.) Good work, though!

The Last Standwich by Lawls 2014-12-08T22:28:00

Hm, it's an interesting idea...But when I play it, it just seems kinda frustrating. Too many ingredients, you end up waiting and waiting for ones you want.

I noticed that when I do a sandwich selection, all the ingredients disappear. It seems like this can help me do away with stuff that's just getting in the way. Is this intended? That might be useful, except if nothing happens when I do an invalid sandwich, it feels like a waste. (Heh, that's the first time I've ever used the phrase "invalid sandwich".) Anyway, what if, like, you got 1 point for every ingredient you made vanish, PLUS 10 points for valid sandwich? Or something along those lines. Just a thought.

Also, am I correct in thinking that having EXTRA ingredients makes a sandwich invalid? If so, that's pretty unforgiving. What if, when you select ingredients that include valid ones, only the valid ones disappear and the rest stay there? I mean, I'm almost ready to suggest pushing ingredients around, but I feel that misses the point of the whole mechanic...

Anyway, congratulations on actually finishing and submitting a playable game. ;)

Contest Simulator: Studio Winning by atrodo 2014-12-08T22:34:00

Mm, needs a bit of work. I don't know how to refill the food. I assume "F" is food and "H" is hunger; is "P" postcards? It doesn't seem to entirely correlate to how many postcards you have...I mean, you can have 0 postcards but a nonempty P bar. Do the couch and bathroom do anything? Finally, the game seems to have a certain *lag* to it. I click and it takes a couple seconds for something to happen. So...good try, now try improving it. ;)

OMNI by Noah Ratcliff 2014-12-25T14:46:00

This is a really good idea! You get a 5 for theme. Turns out it's incredibly frustrating, though. It's SO easy to lose, and there are no checkpoints. You can lose by going too slow, going too fast, missing a jump, holding the jump button down too long so you jump when you shouldn't...(And of course, it's a little annoying that space is jump, everyone seems to forget that WASD includes "W") Kind of disappointing that such a good idea wasn't quite executed well. ;)

Network Programming by hissssssssss 2014-12-13T20:14:00

Heh, I got a pretty good WarioWare kinda feeling from this. It was frustrating that I often couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do...I mean, is it even possible to survive the DEADLY HURRICANE in the NEW YORK SUBWAY? But the audio is pretty hilarious, so that's good. ;)

containment by Symmeteer 2014-12-22T21:15:00

It's an interesting idea, but I can never actually keep marbles on the screen, all I can do is launch them off at high speeds...

Tiny Adventure by FrankieSmileShow 2014-12-12T00:55:00

Wow, this is neat! Hard to see, though, heh. I love the graphics and the elaborate world. Unfortunately, I found it a bit hard to control. I guess I didn't feel like the controls responded quickly enough? It would be hard to slice at some monster then dodge out of the way, like you do in Link to the Past. One more thing; I didn't have any idea what this world was or why everything was out to kill me. Still, though, pretty good work. ;)

LineBlazer by drakfyre 2014-12-20T13:09:00

Kind of a snake-ish avoider thing? I guess that's good. Certainly for 5 hours. ;) I got to "Multiplier x 20", though, without much trouble.

Incidentally, is there only one life? If so, why have a "multiplier" at all? That usually implies combos. Really, the player only gets one score--how many yellows they managed to get.

Serpedelic by deltagardner 2014-12-11T07:22:00

Wow! That's pretty strange, but I'm really glad you made it.

One thing I noticed was that once you have several flashing squares on the screen, it starts lagging. Actually, that sort of adds to the whole aesthetic...

Missing Picture by ToadieTechnika 2014-12-20T16:25:00

It's kind of confusing. The instructions, I don't know, but something about them just makes them unclear. Eventually I figured out how to do it, I think...but it seems to be VERY unforgiving. I spent 5 minutes on it, not getting more than 3 or 4 'clears' before I did something wrong and it reset. I think it's cool that you seem to be going for a specific mood, but I was never really able to get into the game enough to feel it...

Bridge Troll by Parappa 2014-12-27T06:12:00

You've got a good framework here, it just needs a little more guidance, like...what can we do, what are we SUPPOSED to do? Good start, though! (I like the retro graphics and font, heh.)

Last Defender of Tenochitlan by hypothete 2014-12-19T06:33:00

Hmmm, interesting concept! It needs a fair amount of work before the concept can really shine, though. Maybe start out with a level that has only one or two enemies, then go on? Also, I'm not sure how much the folding and screen-moving is supposed to help. But I'd be interested in seeing this get continued!

(I've never even heard of an "1850s folding screen"...hmmm...)

Galvatross by ShuddaHaddaLottaFun 2014-12-18T05:14:00

I definitely like that you were going for an 80s arcade vibe. ;) Although, the graphics seemed...too detailed somehow? And the gameplay wasn't quite as polished as I think it should be. With Joust you zoom around rather quickly, this feels much more sedate. I suppose that's tied to how the Tranglors wander toward the portal? Hm. (By the way, are the mechanics basically the same as Joust? I mean, I just assumed...)

Alt+F4 by CaptainNakou 2014-12-21T22:52:00

Well it's definitely a good start, though honestly it could use some work. ;) First, instructions. I clicked everything I could and finally randomly pressed keys before I figured out what could be done. Also, I noticed that if you keep jumping you can fly. Not only that, the 'enemies' don't hurt you at all, they just push at you, so there wasn't much tension. But hey, the reason I'm pointing out all these flaws is that I think there's something worth fixing!

The Ball by Xanjos 2014-12-23T01:40:00

Well, you finished and submitted a game, which is a victory. ;) It's reasonable. Back in my day, we called these "keepy-uppy" games. Good animation and physics!

One Does Not Simply Walk Into More Doors by Wertle 2014-12-20T01:06:00

Very cute! The animation and music are great, and the gameplay is pretty fun. (Although I really DID just walk into more doors...)

One screen Labyrinth by NaoisTheGuardian 2014-12-09T12:02:00

Kinda fun! It does what it's supposed to...conjures up its world nicely. (I particularly like the bubbling lava.) Although, it does make me curious about the unimplemented features. ;)

Space Dwarves by CMWeissMedia 2014-12-19T06:39:00

Interesting! The graphics and sound are great. It's not immediately obvious that you have to find oxygen, I guess I missed that when I read the instructions. I'm glad you can click to have your dwarves mine a "path", but ideally I'd like some indicator showing where your dwarf is trying to dig to...A mark or waypoint or something. Also, I dug through a lot of stuff that looked it was...ore or something? But I didn't get any space gold. I was expecting to be able to use that mined-out stuff in some way. How about a key showing what each of the tiles is? Anyway, good job!

Jelly Maze by Frederico Raiss 2014-12-19T00:18:00

It's kinda fun. The graphics and animation are very nice, and the sound is good. It's not entirely clear what's going on, though...The green things are "melt" ammunition, the purple ones are "destroy" ammunition? Is that right? And yellow is "treasure" for points? I played it for a while, and I sort of enjoyed it, but I felt like I didn't quite get the point. Good job, though!

Screendom by el_kloklo 2014-12-22T01:57:00

Interesting stuff! This is definitely the kind of game I like. I'm sure you realize what parts of it need work...features and such. But personally, I'm thinking what I'd really like is some sort of purpose to the whole thing. Are you just supposed to get a high score (i.e. money)? Is it the standard quest to Rule the World? I'm just kinda wondering...Incidentally, it might also help to get someone to edit your text.

Lumberninjack [unfinished] by Orava 2014-12-21T22:33:00

The title is great, and the gameplay is intriguing. I'd like to see it made into an actual game!

SCREEN HEAD by NickZangus 2014-12-21T13:33:00

This is awesome! Hilarious gory fun. The concept is great, the graphics fit very well. In my opinion, your interpretation of the theme is completely appropriate! My one problem is that the controls somehow don't seem to work that well...I often felt like I was fighting them and trying to aim my character in the right direction. Maybe I'm too used to DOOM and such...Great job, though!

Tiny Square, Big Tower by EvilObjective 2014-12-16T03:32:00

Very fun! I played about, eh, halfway through and then reached a ponit I didn't feel like trying to pass...Anyway, I can tell that you had a good idea and executed it well, even though it's maybe not THAT innovative. Everything was communicated well; for example, it's not hard to figure out that grinding gray stuff is bad--and even if you don't realize it, the checkpoints are frequent enough that mistakes aren't much of an issue. One thing I absolutely loved was the little particle effect coming off the player; it helps you easily locate yourself, while still keeping the character as a tiny square. Great work!

Abdominal Snowman by Dissiden7 2014-12-09T12:28:00

Don't you mean, *ab*crobatically? ;D

Anyway, this was pretty fun! I've only seen a shrinking thing like that in one other game. Also, the snowman's animation is excellent. Good work!

Tyrannicide by koujaku 2014-12-26T21:08:00

I guess it's good. It's certainly playable, nice animation and sound. Do you really only have one 'life', though? That seems like it would get frustrating pretty quickly. Also, there's some story on the game page, but within the game itself there doesn't seem to be much incentive to do stuff...

Desk Top! by Ossi 2014-12-08T23:15:00

Sooooo slipperyyyyyyy! I suppose that was what you were going for, though, heh. I appreciated that it took place on one 'screen'. I'm not really one for the action-games-you-need-to-practice-a-lot, but this seems good enough for what it is.

No Space for Error by Kwask 2014-12-25T02:21:00

Well, first of all I had to manually change the path of the shortcut, so it didn't start in some "Google Drive" directory that didn't exist. After that, though, it was really fun! I absolutely love the way the tools drift around, as if the environment is moving in various ways. (Even though I'm not sure why they sometimes go hurtling around the room when I let them go.) I did manage to escape, although it seemed as though my temperature gauge got to 0 at some point, or pretty close. (I also wonder what exactly affects that; is it the same thing as losing air? Or is it lack of power making the temperature go strange? Remember, space isn't really "cold" because there is nothing to carry heat away; real spacecraft have problems getting rid of waste heat.) Anyway, while it was frantic at times, I never felt *too* much like things were out of control. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, it's just how it is. I'd like to see this polished up a bit and expanded!

Tone Door by TheJiv 2014-12-25T02:26:00

Definitely playable and fun...Not all that much to it, though. It's great to see games that involve music, I just wish it were longer or something! Good job, though. ;)

HOB by Andreas Brandt 2014-12-24T13:47:00

Pretty neat! It was unclear at first, but I figured it out...I would have liked some instructions, though. The graphics are cute, the sound is nice. After a while I wasn't sure what the point was, though. I mean, my HOB changed shape twice, so...that's good, I guess? I just wondering if anything else ultimately happens.

Incidentally, I would really like some indication of how much wood is left in the fire, so I know when to get more. I mean, I can see it become smaller, but maybe you can add a "wood meter" or something...

Maze of Titans by Piscythe 2014-12-22T02:06:00

Pretty creative! Difficult, though, because you start out with weapons that need a long charge time. Personally I found it too hard, but still fascinating...

Theme Hacker by wdebowicz 2014-12-14T06:19:00

Well, it made me smile. ;) Actually, I like the way you brought together video, photos and graphics!

Force Feedback by kumoi 2014-12-30T13:59:00

This is hilarious. :D

Pony Island by Danman9914 2014-12-25T14:17:00

Okay, I get it; the player is stuck in the physical world, tormented by obstacles (gates) which represent their own desires, but ultimately they can break free of the cycle of karma and reach enlightenment.

I'm just kidding. (Or am I?) In all seriousness, this was quite fun to play. ;) You definitely get max points for Mood. However, I kinda felt like there wasn't exactly a point to it. It reminded me of Misadventure, which is a great game because it has a story and justification for everything (a simple one, but consistent). This just seemed like a bunch of horrible-ish stuff for the sake of being horrible-ish. Which is fine, but the reason I comment is that I feel like there's potential for even more. ;)

Maybe I shouldn't be playing this on Christmas morning...

Pickup Styx by tcarter 2014-12-11T07:17:00

Oh, it's Frogger? Okay, cool. ;) Nice voice work, reasonably good graphics. Some things were unclear, like...I can only get three souls at a time? And three souls get you to the next level? I guess that makes sense. I also would have liked some really obvious sign as to where to bring the souls. Maybe even a literal sign. Pretty good overall, though! I gave up once the fish appeared, heh.

Old Game on an Old Screen by SK16 Games 2014-12-21T13:38:00

It was pretty good. Making a game on a 2D screen in a 3D world isn't a simple feat, so good job. ;) However, I felt like the snowman game needed some work. Like, I could just hold Shift continually to slide along permanently. Also, whenever I got to a flag, which I THINK is an end of a level, it said my character had "died"...It made me think there was something wrong with the game. Amusing 'twist' at the end, though. ;)

You Have the Con by OccamsRazor 2014-12-16T22:00:00

This is well done! To be truly great, though, it need some polish. ;) First of all, it's easy to get into a situation where you sit there repairing stuff for a while...and then you realize you're *not actually hitting the enemies*; they enemies have all found places to sit where your weapons can't reach them. (Occasionally I would set the ship to spin around just to make sure I was able to hit enemies.) Here are some possible ways to fix that: Sound effects when your ship fires, glowing lights on the weapons panel when the weapons fire, firing arcs superimposed on mr. radar. Also, it seemed like flying around didn't do much; most battles just came down to me and the other ships sitting there shooting at each other, hoping I can repair myself faster than they shoot. (What I wouldn't give for a Spathi ship...) One more thing; it seems like a valid strategy to wait until there's one ship left, then turn off your weapons and repair yourself completely before finishing off the last enemy and going to the next wave. Which sort of makes sense, but it also seems kinda tedious...So, just address those issues and fix the spelling of "conn", and you'll have a great game!

Jelly Beansworth vs The Mushrooms by Noozie 2014-12-28T22:36:00

Hmmm, it looks like it has potential, but I don't really get what's going on. Is it that when I lose health I get redder? And that makes me jump higher? Maybe? I dunno. The controls, by the way, feel "floaty"; it's hard to control the character. So, I'd work on making things clearer and polishing the controls...

Fallen Angel by VitalGaming 2014-12-21T22:48:00

Kinda fun! Graphics are reasonably cute; music is good, though there isn't any sound relating to the gameplay, as far as I can tell. One thing I'd like is some indication of the clouds' time limit, like they slowly turn gray and then vanish or something. Also, if you're going to have it playable with a keyboard, please have the "Start" and "Play Again" accessible through keys as well...it's annoying to have to go back and forth between mouse and keyboard all the time. But hey, you actually created a fun game!

hot & cold by Wir 2014-12-11T05:32:00

Interesting! A two player board game kinda thing, I like it. Does it really work with online multiplayer? If so, that's kind of amazing. ;) Anyway, just playing against myself, it was kinda fun. I can tell you put a lot of work into the graphics. The problem I had was that a lot of the platforms were unconnected, so it was very hard to make a path to get anywhere. (It was also sometimes difficult to tell which platforms were actually connected.) So I think it needs more polish and balancing work, but it's a good accomplishment!

shootAbox by skulioskarsson 2014-12-10T19:01:00

Well, it's playable. ;) Personally I'd like to see shooting in arbitrary directions...I suppose sticking to four directions makes the gameplay a bit more involved, though. Anyway, you've got a game loop, animation, sound, smooth controls--now you have no excuse not to make a better game. :D

Node Alpha by Geckoo1337 2014-12-08T23:31:00

It's certainly impressive that you did an entire 3d puzzle game! It has possibilities; I only have two complaints...First, clicking on the cubes I often find myself clicking outside the window and using focus. (Well, maybe that could be solved if I played the download version rather than the web version...) And second, it just seems slow. I found myself hoping things would go faster. All in all, though, good work!

Mechanised Menace by Adam Gould 2014-12-28T22:11:00

Nice! The game is simple, but it's executed very well! Good graphics and music, and good design; I especially like the waves of varying enemy types. Good job!

Greeny GRUB by pht59x 2014-12-19T07:03:00

Kinda cool! The controls are strange until you realize it sets different levels of acceleration. The gameplay is fine, though not all that innovative...I think the music's the best part, actually. Good work. ;)

Pixel Platform by Shivur 2014-12-18T17:46:00

I think the graphics are great, and the idea is fine. The problem is the collision! The pixel always seems to be floating above the platforms. And then I got to the right edge of the screen and tried to climb upward...I had no idea what I could land on, what I could jump up through...It was basically impossible. (And, you know, no checkpoints...) Still, you get points for finishing something!

Cramped-An Entire Platformer on one Screen by Wumbo 2014-12-10T19:10:00

This is actually pretty clever! Not too difficult a puzzle game, but the few mechanics allow for some interesting levels. I particularly enjoyed the one where you had to move the exit; that made me feel smart. ;) Also, I like how you interpreted 'on one screen'; not what I would have thought of, but cute. The one thing that bothered me was the lack of instructions; I sat there for five minutes clicking and pressing stuff before I figured out what to do.

Bugged Out by InfectionTeam 2014-12-19T06:55:00

Haha, I wasn't expecting that! Very fun, excellent graphics and animation. The one issue I had was that it's difficult to know where you're aiming, somehow it seems like it doesn't shoot the correct direction. I dunno if I just need practice, though...Great job, though!

Snamwons Revenge by yodamaster 2014-12-13T20:19:00

Ow, my brain!

This was really well done, though. ;) The controls were a bit slow, but in a way that was exactly appropriate for the gameplay. The fact that once you've solved a level the guy there stops is a very useful touch. The audio was great; the graphics were fine, a nice sort of psychedelic-retro thing. I wonder, though, is it actually possible to win the game? I suppose I'll have to trust you on that one. ;)

One Infected Snow by sgq995 2014-12-20T13:06:00

Ah, a top-down shooter. Pretty simple, but fun. The one problem I had was that the controls are so...slidey. I guess the snowman is sliding around on ice? That made it difficult. Good job, though!

Snowmans Base by Silveryard 2014-12-24T13:32:00

Simple, but nice! Excellent raytracing. Uh...how many cases are there? Wait, is it an endless game where every time you get a case another one spawns? It's not really clear. Anyway, what I would like is something that always shows where "you" are in the world, so the player doesn't lose track; a blue dot or something would be enough. Also, it's kind of slow and tedious to move your light around, I would personally speed up the rotation so you can look around faster. Good work, though!

Walk to the door by el-pepi 2015-01-02T00:57:00

Very clever idea, and pretty fun too! For some reason I want it to have some sort of story about exploring a computer system or, something vaguely like Tron...that's just me, though. ;)

Last Ark by Nuclear Napalm 2014-12-25T15:01:00

I like this! The graphics are quite good. The gameplay is a little confusing, but if you work at it you figure out what's going on. (It's weird that stars are so hard to find, though. I guess for game balance it makes sense, but...) I made it to a planet and...the symbiote pilot died, but the humans survived. Which is good, I guess? Anyway, I think it could use a little more polish, balancing...maybe a picture for each ending instead of some text, that'd be cool. And a little thing showing which endings you've gotten so far? Other than that it's pretty good!

Pit Lords by Xinelu 2014-12-27T05:08:00

This is pretty neat! Somehow it's a kind of game I really like. It needs a few things, though...First, it's a little hard to tell when stuff is happening; like, the first time I pressed the "Battle" button it seemed like nothing happened, so I pressed it again...I ended up making the voice clip repeat. So, some immediate feedback would be good. Also, during the battles, maybe some scrolling messages would be nice? Incidentally, how many 'Pit Lords' are there? I defeated two, but I don't really have any idea how long I'm supposed to be playing this game...It would also be cool if there were some sort of advancement. Earn more attribute points, buy better equipment, that sort of thing...Good job, though!

Don't Eat The Damsel by intersectiongames 2014-12-11T04:22:00

Pretty fun! Certainly writing all that text in one weekend is an accomplishment, I can attest to that. ;) It was all executed well, I only had a couple of things I didn't like. First, there was this...world of dragons and castles that isn't given much justification, other than "You know, it's just like in all the stories". I often found myself wondering, "But WHY would I...". I suppose asking for more in one weekend might be too much, though? The other thing was that I felt there should be more 'checkpoints'. I get why you wanted the player to go through it again and again...well, actually I don't really, but I guess I can respect the decision. It's just that, the third time through the player is just thinking "Okay, which did I click last time, this one, this one, this one..." and just being taken right out of the story.

But, overall, good work!

The Best of Both Worlds by AGausmann 2014-12-13T02:34:00

Oh, boy...When I got to level 4, my brain ran and hid in a corner. Still, that's not necessarily a bad thing, if you want to do a serious puzzle game. ;) The concept is actually quite clever! The one thing that bothered me is that on level 2, I didn't immediately get what the red walls meant. I sat there slamming keys and getting "explosion" sounds for about 30 seconds before I realized what was going on. So, maybe a little more in the way of instructions?

Adventure of Lady Slashalot by Creative Sectors 2014-12-11T06:11:00

Well, it's playable, that much I can say. ;) It was sort of amusing, though there wasn't much to it. At least you came up with something, though!

(Hey, I've got an idea; the 'whisp' is really a lightning elemental, and the sand sword 'grounds' it! Eh? Eh?)

Grass crawl by island212 2014-12-27T05:46:00

I feel like there's something here, it's just hard to figure out what's going on. You move...and then wait? Does 'attack' do anything? Hmmm. Also, the window is so large, I have to move it around to see what's going on. I'd like to see it polished up a bit, though!

Super Shoot 'em Away 2 by Ramori 2014-12-12T01:24:00

Ah, a good old-fashioned bullet hell game. ;) This was pretty fun to play; I liked the little effect of the enemies shrinking when they were destroyed. At first I was puzzled by the different colors of powerups, until I realized they corresponded to the colors of the stats at the bottom of the screen; maybe that should be mentioned in the instructions. Also, I wasn't able to figure out why each powerup had a different effect on the enemies. I mean, what if I wanted to have high-health but slow-firing enemies? I have no idea which powerups I would choose to get that effect. I guess my point is, if it were more clear, it would allow for more strategy. But a good idea nonetheless!

A Fine White Line by Taunia Sabanski 2014-12-14T05:28:00

Hm, you definitely got a great atmosphere in this game. The 'blueprint' layout is great, and the music really heightens the pressure. The problem, though, is that I wasn't sure what to do...and I wasn't sure what I COULD do. First of all, it seemed like there were only two visible items, the hammer and towel; then, by walking around the house and moving up against every item, I noticed a few 'location items' like the sink and tool rack. But then I wasn't sure what to do with them. Like, it says "Travel to the labelled location, click on the inventory object you wish to use, then click the location on the map"; I tried using the towel with the sink, to wet it or something, but apparently nothing happened. So I'm left wondering, did that not work because it's not something I can do in the game, or did it not work because I don't understand the interface and I'm clicking the wrong thing? I'm inclined to think the latter.

Anyway, I dunno. Clearer instructions or...I almost want to say "tutorial" but that kind of goes against the whole concept doesn't it? ;)

Space Guardian by Jonathan 2014-12-27T19:54:00

Pretty cool! Certainly more complete than a lot of games I've seen, heh. Honestly I don't have much to say, there aren't any, you know, obvious areas that need improvement. Perhaps sounds for shooting and destroying rocks...Anyway, good work!

Crush Quest by krakenRose 2014-12-27T05:13:00

This is difficult! It's really good at creating a frantic mood. Unfortunately I feel like at a certain point it's unwinnable; in one room I got all the boxes but found no key. I suppose you'll have time to fix that, though. Anyway, the graphics are charming and the music is good, so good job!

Crate Commander by quadtree 2014-12-15T03:32:00

It's actually kind of hilarious watching the crates fly around and destroy stuff (and themselves)! A couple things I thought were issues; first, there's so much stuff on the screen, you don't know what's valuable crates, debris or broken wall. Maybe make the crates certain colors that really stand out? (And be sure to show the player a guide, like, "This is a crate, valuable, this is a wall, not valuable".) The other thing was that I really didn't feel like I had much control. The force field whatever could stop the crates from careening around, sorta, but ultimately it didn't have much effect. I guess I understand that you wanted it to feel chaotic, but I ended up feeling sorta helpless. But honestly I think that's just a polish issue, you've got a good start on something here!

I am Sigma by GeeItSomeLaldy 2014-12-08T22:55:00

I was hoping someone would do a game like this! Unfortunately, while I do mostly like it, I don't like the controls; sort of floaty and laggy, makes it feel slow trying to get anywhere. Honestly, it took me at least 10 deaths to make the jump to get the A1 Giggermajigger. Still, it certainly proves itself to be a viable concept!

Context Quest by Harrs 2014-12-12T01:39:00

Pretty fun! All the clicking did get kind of tiring, though, heh. I like the music a lot. The colored-squares aesthetic is neat, but I think it would be really cool if you could get some fantasy art. Also maybe some little story bits or events that happen? Maybe make the world feel more 'alive'. But that's all wishful thinking; the one thing that really bothered me was that I found it hard to accumulate stuff to craft. Like, I conquer the first land, and I can craft stuff if I get Herbs and Spices. And yet I gathered a dozen times and never found Spices. It's like, the player is interested in the crafting, but they just get told "No you can't do that" until they get the message and stop trying. But I'm sure you can figure out how to fix that. ;)

FISHERMANS FRIENDS by Pferd123 2014-12-27T05:20:00

This is interesting...I'm not quite sure I see the point, but it has a neat mood. The big problem is that I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be doing, other than talking to people. Still, though, it's intriguing...

The Second Thought or Please, Don't Touch Anything by Four Quarters 2014-12-20T13:04:00

This is...pretty well done, but it's also quite frustrating. I mean, there aren't any instructions. I decided to ASSUME that you use the mouse to control it--in a real game I wouldn't, but since this is a game made in a limited time I'll cut you some slack. (Really, all you need is a sentence that says "Use the mouse and see what happens". Otherwise, how am I supposed to know what I'm allowed to do?)

Anyway, apart from that...I blew up the city a few times, and for a while I was convinced that was the only thing possible. Then I realized that if you mash the button for a while more stuff happens...But none of this stuff makes any sense or has any motivation behind it. I turned the video upside down, or something, which I guess counts as an ending? Ultimately it all just seemed pointless, though.

Advanced Mayonaise by ZTO22 2014-12-27T19:47:00

Well, you actually have a playable game, which is something to be proud of. ;) Needs some polish though, maybe a story to provide incentive for shooting these...random creatures. And instructions; for a while I thought the whole point was that you couldn't aim upwards, and you had to shoot down at the ground to bounce your shots upward...I guess that's not true, though it might have made for a more interesting game...

Nexus Elemental Wae by maurojones 2014-12-27T16:13:00

This is really fun to watch, although I'm unclear on the strategy involved. Is there an RPS thing, like Fire beats Earth, Earth beats Ice, Ice beats Fire, that kind of thing? If so, it's pretty unclear. What does upgrading your towers do, does it just produce mages at a faster rate? And how do you win? My mages got all the way past the area marked off with flags, and nothing seemed to happen...(And when you get that close to the enemy towers, it's VERY hard to make any progress since the enemy mages keep popping into existence and killing you.) Still, though, it has great animation and music, so it just needs a little work. ;)

RotaMaze by Yorgo 2014-12-27T16:16:00

Okay, so it's not "shift left" and "shift right", it's "LEFT Shift", as in the Shift key on the left side of the keyboard vs. the Shift key on the right side of the keyboard. Well, other than the odd controls (and the fact that you didn't mention that you have to use the arrow keys AS WELL to play), it's all right for what it is. There's definitely an idea here than you can make into a larger game!

Endless Worker by sweenist 2014-12-20T15:46:00

Well, it's playable! You did better than everyone who DIDN'T submit something. ;) Really, all you need is to be able to jump onto the platforms, and then a lose condition. Keep at it, hm?

Path of Thorns by CosyCave 2014-12-08T23:21:00

Oh, one of THOSE games...We all know how to play these games. Although, the bonking-rocks are new to me. I like the art style and the presentation, that's top quality. The puzzles quickly get kinda frustrating, though. There doesn't seem to be much incentive to get through them other than "What's at the final end"...

Fill the bar by SMASH BASH 2014-12-17T00:16:00

It's pretty well done, but what's the point? I mean, hasn't Bioshock already covered this territory? ;P The 'reveal' is nice, though! I gave you a 5 for Theme, which I don't think I've done for anyone else. ;)

OS literally by BCasaleiro 2014-12-13T02:36:00

What sort of file is this? It's certainly not a 'Web' game like Flash or Javascript or...

Keep Gamers Alive by cabul 2014-12-27T05:01:00

Cute! It's rare to see a text-based game with time pressure, heh. It needs some polish, maybe some more features, but I think you realize that. ;)

Standoff by nottoscalestudio 2014-12-27T04:52:00

It's all right--certainly playable, although it could use instructions. (For about 60 seconds I thought it was unplayable before I realized that the ARROW KEYS actually change your aim.) The other thing that's a bit irritating is that every time you lose you have to adjust your aim all over again...though I suppose not doing it that way would make it trivially easy...Well, good work anyway. ;)

Windows Cleaner Simulator by Instant Noodles 2014-12-09T10:19:00

Well, it made me laugh. ;) I like the graphics and animation; bright, gets the mood across. The gameplay was simplistic, but that's okay. The text was kind of humorous sometimes, although I would recommend finding someone to edit next time. All in all, though, it was a pretty good effort, you should feel proud!

Death Heap by madcapacity 2014-12-17T23:17:00

This was pretty amusing! Certainly the graphics and music are great. The problem I found, though, was that it's easy to get stuck under a pile of bodies with no way of getting out! There should be something to do about that...What if the bodies 'decayed' and eventually disappeared? That would add a sort of time pressure to keep you killing enemies. Or, what if continuing to strike at bodies gradually made them disappear? I noticed there's no way to restart the game if you get into a bad spot...Not to mention, there doesn't seem to be any way to LOSE. I'd say it's a good start, though. ;)

Visibility Zero by molecats 2014-12-27T06:29:00

Wow, this is amazing! The interface and graphics are really excellent; the music is pretty great too. It all adds up to a powerful mood. The problem I had, though, is that there's so little detail in the scenery renderings that it's sometimes impossible to tell if you're even moving, or if you've hit some bump and you're stuck. It also seems like sometimes containers are inside hills or something, so you wind up trying to shove into a hill, winding around to try to find a way in, randomly dying...Still, though, I feel like with just a bit of work this could be truly great!

Inventory by TheMeorch 2014-12-11T06:55:00

This is a weird, but fun game. I love the gameplay, except it's kind of unforgiving; on the very first level I had to choose EXACTLY the right combination of items and fit them in with NO extra space. Later levels seemed more forgiving, which is odd. But I love arranging stuff. (The bit where you have to figure out the most efficient combination of items, though, that makes me worry...I'm scared there will be too many options and I'll be stuck searching through them for hours...)

The tone of the story is...Well, I can get behind a post-apocalyptic parody with a guy traveling with 'Jeff', and then what happens to Jeff, and it's hilarious...but then he talks about his kids disappearing, it almost seems TOO serious. (I love the 'Blue Pane of Glass', though. Somehow the mere idea of that amuses me.) I guess maybe just a little editing to make sure you strike the right tone.

One thing I'd like to see is, if you try to put down an item, and it is blocked by one other item, the item you're holding gets picked down and the one that was blocking gets picked up. (I think Diablo 2, the obvious inspiration for this game, does it that way...)

Anyway, I had fun with this!

Rotate And Hide by pcmaster 2014-12-09T10:23:00

Interesting...I feel like you were going for something, but you didn't quite get there. I don't really know how I would build a maze so as to sneak up on the enemy. I ended up with a big open space and just twirled around to keep at least one of my units shooting. Well, it was a good try, and certainly the graphics and animation are good!

Whole Life On One Screen by Demy 2014-12-09T12:41:00

This is definitely fun, though it also feels incomplete. I'd love to see more added to it. You definitely have a good thing with the desktop interface; the blog/search thing is neat, and the MMO chat is pretty amusing! So, good work. ;)

Houston, We've Got a Problem by MrBadIvan 2014-12-13T20:04:00

Pretty neat! I like the whole gameplay idea. It was actually fun to play! The graphics are cute...The one thing that bothered me is that sandstorms seem to permanently destroy your food production? I guess that's in there to make sure you can't survive indefinitely? ;P

Hungry Bots by Buko-Studios 2014-12-13T02:40:00

This is actually pretty cool! I guess it's competitive Pac-Man, sorta? I would have liked instructions or something; I got thrown in to a game with only "Arrow keys to move" to tell me what was going on. But the gameplay is pretty good, and it's always good to learn lessons. ;) The one thing that bothers me, though, is that the maze in the background doesn't really sync up with what's happening in the game. It's like that's some totally other game being played--very weird.

Jelly Test by deyteris_team 2014-12-09T12:31:00

Pretty fun...those missiles are ANNOYING, though! Anyway, I love the jelly character's design and animations. The gameplay wasn't too unexpected, but it was fun. ;)

Desert Strike by Parker808 2014-12-24T00:41:00

I can't get past "Play Tutorial?"...

GraviFlip by oh_andrej 2014-12-28T19:11:00

Pretty fun! Kinda Metal Storm-ish (that's a real compliment ;) ).I feel like it needs some sort of structure, though, like...levels? That's how I would do it, I guess. Also, you need to assign some key to "Retry", so we don't have to keep going back and forth between mouse and keyboard all the time. Good work, though!

+1 Act Play by warrenEBB 2014-12-24T00:39:00

Well, there's something there, though it obviously needs work...You got a 3D game up and running, which is something to be proud of. ;) It was a little difficult to see where you were and to jump up on the platforms, that was the biggest problem I had. Keep at it!

Of Penguicode and Unimen by zetty 2014-12-24T21:01:00

Kinda fun. Unicode graphics are a neat idea, heh. You have some problem with the targeting, though...It seems like the direction the projectiles travel is in some way related to the way the penguin is moving, but it doesn't make any sense?

WACKHACK by plump 2014-12-20T16:04:00

Hey, I didn't see any peanuts! (Mm, peanuts...)

Seriously though, this was actually fun! You've got all the ingredients of a good game. The problem is that it was way too hard; I mashed the button as fast as I could and only survived for 5 seconds. Maybe start with easier enemies and work your way up? (Also, can I request that holding down the mouse button results in rapid fire?)

Good work though. ;)

AbseilRace by duwom 2014-12-22T21:13:00

Interesting, but hard to play. The control scheme is supposedly simple, but I can't quite get the hang of it. I thought I did with Player 2 but then suddenly "Player 1 wins!". Strange.

Incidentally, you don't have to put snowmen in your game. I mean, nobody does. :P

typedef char by zzq 2014-12-19T00:42:00

It's a fun idea, and it plays well...mostly. After a while it just kind of got frustrating trying to climb up, falling down again...The controls don't seem as responsive as I'd like them for this kind of platformer. It's hard to maneuver while in the air. But hey, it's a good idea!

Mechanism by p1x3lruckus 2014-12-11T07:29:00

This is very well done! The animation and control is great. It also really makes you feel like you're at the mercy of a...machine-which-is-incredibly-deadly-for-no-real-reason. I guess that's good. ;)

(I wonder if it's possible for the player to win without actually moving? If I set it up to restart every time the player died, and I left it running for 12 hours, I wonder how high a score I would get...)

Snowman Soul Slaughter by MurmuringDepths 2014-12-09T12:36:00

Kind of fun, though silly! I like the fact that it uses physics, to the point where you can walk on a horde of snowmen. However, the controls feel a little...bad. It's very hard to deal with a bunch of snowmen at once if they build up, because you're running away, but you have to turn to attack them, but that will get you hit...Also, you can only stab at one height, which sometimes is not the height you need. By the way, if the character glows green, does that mean anything? I couldn't figure it out...

Moose Meat by bugbytemike 2014-12-13T02:30:00

Hm, I can tell you got this working the way you wanted it (the moose animation is nice), but I found it a bit frustrating. The moose walks slowly, which means you have this vague sense of boredom and wanting something to happen. But at the same time, the time limit for each level is VERY unforgiving, so you have to move carefully...In essence you have to sit there hoping you're moving well enough, while helplessly watching the time tick down. Not *exactly* what I would call fun. ;) And when I got to the icy-path-through-lava level, I was just like...nope. Sorry!

Meeting Survival by sdeng 2014-12-24T20:58:00

I don't really have any idea what's going on? I mean, obviously you've done a lot of good work to get it all animated and doing stuff...I love the 'presentation' going on in the background, too! But, while I can move around, I have no idea what to do or even if I should avoid these...ghost coffee cups(?)

The Screening by Suppagumma 2014-12-20T12:51:00

Weird, but interesting! I like the idea a lot, even though it's morbid. The graphics are great and the gameplay is smooth. It's quite hard, though...

Attack of the Sodas! by Upgradecap 2014-12-18T17:39:00

Well, I certainly know what it's like to want to submit SOMETHING. So hey, at least you got something done! And you've probably learned a lot from this experience. ;) The game is simplistic, but okay, though it needs some editing ("loosing", "it's"). Also, a lot of times I wasn't sure if the game would advance with waiting or a key press, and then I got impatient waiting...and is there any way to exit other than pressing the X?

Welcome To Shady Pines by juxipolo 2014-12-11T06:00:00

This is actually pretty fun! I always love building stuff. The game itself is pretty simple, but it sort of feels like it's deeper than it is. The transparent blueprint graphics are perfect. "Ey, champ!" is great too. ;) I just had a couple of issues...First, I wonder about the scoring system. If I put windows on the outside, does that give me more money? How about doors on the outside? I put a door on the outside and as far as I can tell nothing changed. Maybe if you had a "+$500 window bonus!" pop up or something. The second thing is that a couple of levels I'm sure cannot be solved ("solved" in the sense of no overlap, all blueprints used, all windows on outside). And finally, I wondered if the game was ever going to end. After level 22 I was started to feel mentally exhausted, so I stopped! Good work though. ;)

EndLight by estebanm 2014-12-13T02:25:00

Hmmmm, this is an interesting concept, though I think the implementation needs work. Basically, it seems impossible to jump while the stage is rotating, but this means you often get stuck in areas where you cannot escape being tipped into spikes. (And there are a LOT of spikes.) It seems like you've set a difficult task for yourself in trying to implement collision in a rotating playfield, but keep working at it. ;)

Benno by benno 2014-12-24T00:44:00

Kinda fun, simple though. Does being on the ground hurt you? I thought it was a time limit, but once I got on the platform my health stopped going down...confusing to think snow might hurt a snowman, but whatever...Needs a few more features to be interesting. Also, please make the resolution smaller, not all of us have absolutely huge monitors...

Mr. Boo by Nuuup 2014-12-20T17:04:00

It's cute, but...I don't really get it? I can move the characters around, but nothing really happens...The hand-drawn background is nice, the music is fine, I just kinda don't know what to do?

I have monsters in my head by Kaiziye 2014-12-14T20:02:00

Actually a clever idea. The point is that you have to maneuver around holes, while you can blink 'through' enemies? There's room for interesting strategy there, and I like how you get different waves of enemy types. The monsters are animated well, too. One problem is that since you have only one life, it's very unforgiving...I would have liked an energy meter or something to let the player get used to it. (Also, the game says "move with WASD" but that doesn't work. :P )

The Harvest Sparrows by Kazura 2014-12-19T23:06:00

Neat! Difficult, though. I played a few times, but I still don't quite know how close you have to be to the plants, or whether you have to stay still...Also, I was waiting for the "Level 1 Start" text to disappear, but while I was waiting I got game over. :P That was a little unexpected, to say the least. Still, all in all it's a good effort. ;)

Abelian by merrak 2014-12-11T06:22:00

Hm, interesting stuff. Not all that innovative, as such, but very playable; the graphics definitely have a nice old school vector feel! However, the difficulty...I started to get bored going through too many rooms that were pretty much the same, and then suddenly shots started shooting downward at high speed--it's really hard to avoid those! The second room I encountered with them, I lost. Good work, though!

Breaking glass by charlesque 2014-12-09T10:28:00

Pretty interesting! Definitely an original idea. I really like the presentation of the "monitor", and it's an excellent use of the "screen" idea. However, the character animations, while fine, somehow didn't quite fit with the screen presentation. (I also noticed something: the player 1 keys, ESDF, are shown in yellow, but they control the green character; and the player 2 keys, arrows, are shown in green, but they control the yellow character!) Anyway, good job!

Escape Character by Zi 2015-01-02T01:12:00

Haha, cute! Excellent graphics and animation. The "puzzles" were nice, they kept me intrigued until I got to the end "For real this time". The survey was especially amusing.

Maybe if you expand this game, the hero eventually faces the final boss, the Control Character?

-CHAMBER- by ben_pxlplz 2014-12-10T01:21:00

Interesting! You've actually gotten something that's playable and is fun, heh. The graphics and sound are great; the only issue I have is that the game is pretty unforgiving...You really have to keep on your toes and make sure to jump through every time the blocks "come around" to where you are. Good work, though!

Intergalactic Planet Mining Program (I.P.M.P.) by fergarram 2014-12-11T06:19:00

I really want to like this, but I can't quite figure out what's going on...I choose planets and put them on a list. Do I do the sliders first, though? (Also, there's a bug where the sliders don't always update.) What does research do? Why would I 'type the planet number', and which number is it? When does time advance, like, you say I pay "per month" but when does it become the next month?

I do like the planet scan with scanlines, though, so that's good!

The life game by guimm 2014-12-12T01:30:00

Well...this was pretty well done, and I like the "television screen" idea...It's so difficult, though! I mean, at one point you have to: 1) fall down and to the side and double-jump just at the right moment to get up onto a ledge; 2) leap up through a laser onto a ledge in a very short window of time while not going high enough to hit the other laser; 3) leap up again through a short window of time; 4) fall down to the side far enough to get onto a ledge but not too far as to miss it within that same short window of time, 5) ... probably some other stuff that I didn't see because I got tired of trying, all WITHOUT a checkpoint in the middle. It got pretty tedious...

But I mean, you made a platformer engine in 72 hours, so that's something. ;)

RIZUMUDEKATTO by EquipeJAM 2014-12-10T19:13:00

I like the music and the graphics! The thing that bothers me, though, is that I have to keep switching my facing back and forth, since it's random; I can't get into that rhythm game groove of mindlessly pressing the buttons. :P

Garbage Raider by Team_Friendship 2014-12-20T17:01:00

Well, that was...a thing!

I mean, I liked it, but I spent 10 minutes wondering why I was playing it. Also how much garbage I needed to "do that", whatever "that" was (I love the voice, though). And there are all these things that don't seem to matter--inventory? Item prices? Stats? HP, MP? I feel somehow...disappointed.

Torch lighter by TZeroth 2014-12-10T04:54:00

Well, you got the basics down well enough; it has animation and music, and it's playable, so that's good! However, the gameplay was kind of...vague. I run along and jump over spikes, sure, but I don't really know how that affects the torches. Ultimately I got into an apparently infinite loop; I would continually run left, the torches would come on, then they would go off...and so on.

For a real game, you'd really need instructions somewhere; just something that says, like, "arrows to move". Also, the bit with the voice was good, but there was no way to skip it once I had read the text!

So We Run by teamtexelr 2014-12-23T20:39:00

Okay, we run...but *why*? Anyway, GREAT animation, cool music too (no sound effects though). Simple but effective gameplay. I guess the point is that you 'rescue' the little things and take them to the portals? It's not really clear (and obviously no instructions) but I assume that's right. After a while I kind of felt like it needed some variety. All in all, good work though!

Henry Defends His Research by mysteriosum 2014-12-23T20:17:00

This was cute, and the voice acting is awesome. ;) I also liked that moving backwards moves you faster, just like in an actual office chair. I had some problems though...First, what are you actually supposed to do? "Complete your work", which means you hang out at your desk, I think? If that's the case, you need some sort of progress meter or hint that the player is actually getting toward a win state. The second thing is that the WSG is in the cabinet, okay, but once you go over there and get it you're in a state where you're surrounded by zombies and unable to get out from behind them. And since the weapon doesn't actually HURT the zombies, there's no way to win. So, you know, I wanted to like it but I'm not sure it's playable...

FIWPFT (F&*K I Wasn't Prepared For This) by hazryder 2014-12-28T22:20:00

Weird, but kinda neat. ;) Honestly there don't seem to be any weak areas, I don't know what you could improve. It's pretty well executed! Or, at least it seems to be exactly what you wanted it to be.

Disco Pixel Art by ChrisAntaki 2014-12-20T16:09:00

Kinda cool. You can only draw in one color, though? (Well, one gradient.) I would have liked to see more features. What if, if you clicked on a flashing color, the color at that moment became the color you drew with? Anyway, just a thought. ;)

Mega Blobber by Deeep Games 2014-12-20T15:39:00

Pretty fun! It's a pretty simple game, but executed fairly well, and the voice work is fun. The one thing that bothered me was that...a lot of times it seemed like it's impossible to get a perfect score. Like, you have two blobs of the same color on opposite sides hitting at exactly the same time. It just feels unfair. Other than that, though, good work. ;)

Sharks on Ice by samer 2014-12-23T01:59:00

Interesting, but I really have no idea what's going on! I sort of have some idea what you were going for, but it has some problems...First, it starts up as soon as you load the page; I think there should be a title screen, or how about the game starts going when you click on the fish? Also there's no restart feature, so you have to reload the page (and then quickly move your mouse over to grab the fish...). The "instructions" say to eat smaller blocks, but you can also eat the larger blocks...I think? I was wondering why I should choose one block type over another. When the fish get eaten then turn into...corpses, I think? They look sort of evil, though. If you want them to be corpses you could make them, I don't know, skeletons maybe? That would be more clear. Another issue is that the fish you're dragging can be killed, but you still drag it around, and the game continues as long as another fish survives...That sort of makes sense, but the problem is that the player is moving the fish around and then suddenly they're moving a dead fish and not actually having any effect on the game at all. And finally, the shark movement is a little weird; they start out slow, but quickly go up to ZOOM levels of speed.

Still, it's playable, so that's good. ;)

Boxed In by DaniDK 2014-12-19T00:13:00

Interesting, interesting. I didn't have anyone else to play with, but it looks like it could be fun and strategic. Certainly the animation and controls are good. Maybe some instructions...well, there are instructions right here on this page, but they could be expanded. Good job, though. ;)

On One String by miko 2014-12-22T02:20:00

Very clever! It goes on for quite a while, though, heh. By the end it got difficult to read...I started wondering when it would be over. I did enjoy the ride, though!

Plantagorma by mpombal 2014-12-22T02:09:00

Not much to it, I'm afraid. Okay for what it was, but there wasn't much to play...Also, it seemed like the "camera" is zoomed in so far that you can't see very much. Certainly the entire level is not on one screen, heh. But hey, it has animation and music, so you can take pride in having created a playable game. ;)

Ugly Pizza Shooter by scambier 2014-12-14T18:46:00

This is surprisingly fun. ;) I think it's due to the fact that the longer it goes the more enemies there are. It starts getting pretty frantic when there are a dozen enemies on the screen! Maybe the lesson is that you don't need much to make an interesting game? Regardless, you finished and submitted a project, so that makes you a winner. ;)

Bjorn McGomez I: Lobsterman Menace! by pfitzner 2014-12-11T06:31:00

Pretty fun! Kind of a Maniac Mansion-esque interface, heh. The icons were a little enigmatic; I hope everyone realized they have tooltips that appear if you hover over them.

One thing that seemed to be a bug was that when I got the data-screen, the game still said "Data-Screen: No". However, I was able to win the game after that. Other than that I don't have much to add, except that it's a pretty small game. I suppose that could be seen as a strength, though. ;)

watery current by eiquy3 2014-12-23T20:11:00

Well, you've got the *start* of something here. The characters are cute, and the gameplay is reasonable. Some problems, though...First, you should figure out how to post an .swf somewhere so people don't have to download and run it directly--in other words, make it an ACTUAL "Web" link. Second, some restart button or something when one of the characters dies, so you can restart the game without having to reload the tab. Next, maybe walls on the sides so the player doesn't accidentally fall out of the level? And finally, I couldn't finish the level because apparently the light bulb can't touch that...flashing...whatever it is, on the right, and the droplet needs to hit the green button, but you CANNOT make the jump to get the button. In other words, you should make sure your game is actually playable before posting it.

But since you posted a playable game this time, you won't have any excuse to not participate in future LDs. ;)

Rigmarole by team_popup 2014-12-19T23:01:00

Pretty neat! A good start, at least. I think you've got a good idea with the pop-up stuff, I'd like to see more of a 'game' to it. (Incidentally, I noticed that you can make some of the cutouts fly off the book and off into space...)

Testsubmission by ashok007 2014-12-14T20:08:00

"Today's experiment...FAILED"
--Excel Saga

Clay Pigeon Hunter 2k14 by Jedi 2014-12-19T06:29:00

Well, you know, it's actually playable! Even though you can't lose. I don't think you should have made it unrateable. Oh well, it was a learning experience right? ;)

Boing! by daredevildave 2014-12-21T22:45:00

Pretty fun. I like the graphics, the idea is sound. The bouncing mechanic is one I haven't seen much. The physics is a little odd, though; you can bounce forever at the same level. If you get to a level with spikes on the ceiling, it's basically impossible.

Snowbotron by Beerman 2014-12-17T00:23:00

Well, if you're going to remake a game, might as well choose one of the best games ever. ;) This was pretty fun, the graphics are cute and I like the retro sound effects. I just had two issues; first, the controls were sort of backwards, in the sense that usually for this type of game you move with the left hand and shoot with the right (that's how the arcade version does it, after all!). So I had to cross my arms to play. The second thing is that it doesn't really get any harder...I was able to play through about a dozen levels and just keep going. Ultimately I just kinda got bored. Still, pretty good for LD. ;)

Information SuperHighway 1983 by Blobby101 2014-12-23T20:36:00

Fun! I love a good hacking game (even bad ones are fun ;) ). The modem sound really took me back to my younger days. I had a problem figuring out how to connect to the net, but I suppose that's in flavor for the whole 80s net experience, and anyway it didn't get TOO frustrating. I kept typing "DIR" to list files, but, you know, whatever. I would have been satisfied just having the computer be the entire game; as far as I'm concerned, 'physically' moving disks around was merely a nice touch. ;) And finally, if you win, it prints out a transcript of your entire game? That's a really nice touch! It gives you the sense of having created a story by playing.

I'd love to see this expanded!

Profiling: The Game! by mrainwater 2014-12-21T22:40:00

Clever idea (and great description), but...it's basically impossible to play, I mean there's NO way you can find the right character in 20 seconds! But hey, good job putting the game together. ;)

Door In Cave by revilossor 2014-12-27T06:16:00

There's an interesting idea here, but it's difficult to play. First of all, it's hard to figure out how to make platforms; I expected to be able to make them thinner, and I had no idea why they weren't appearing. Anyway, if it were me, I would make the jump button some other key, or perhaps make it so that clicking anywhere would make the player jump (though that might make it tricky to figure out when the game should jump as opposed to drawing platforms). The point is, because the player is always moving, you have to make them jump several times in quick succession...so you have to click, then follow with the mouse and click again, and again...it's quite difficult.

Also the game could use stuff like sounds, an objective...but you know that. ;)

A Place in Space by lokijki 2014-12-10T05:02:00

Wow, weird but interesting! The retro-ish pixel presentation is cool, but the graphical effects are amazing! The gameplay is pretty good. I like the whole mood of the game, it goes back to the days where a lack of detail in games just made them more mysterious. My one complaint is that the controls seemed off sometimes; like I would walk across the room, then I'd try to get to a door and my character would continue walking in the same direction...Still, though, good work!

Browser Escape by MarkSkyzoid 2014-12-21T22:37:00

This is actually pretty fun! Kinda raw and unpolished, but there were a couple of good "aha!" moments, like switching back and forth between tabs. I especially loved how when you were in the "space ad" you could fly around as if you were in low gravity, heh. Things it needs: some sound or at least music, some polish, some more exploration of the mechanics. Great job, though!

DOS Defender by skeeto 2014-12-14T20:06:00

It says mouse input is supported, but if I run the game (using DOSBox) I get 'Move joystick around its full range, then center joystick and press button A'?

Orion by feiss 2014-12-27T08:03:00

This is pretty great! The graphics are awesome. The idea is sound, and it's got room for expansion. Now, if only if you could get rid of the lag that happens every five seconds or so...

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

RELIC by CptDustmite 2015-05-05T16:11:00

Interesting, it kinda started out as one of those "spooky ancient space" stories, but it went in a different direction. Cute, though! The graphics were quite good. The controls/jumping were a little unreliable, but I suppose since there really wasn't to it there's not really any point in complaining.

Dollheart by Chaoseed 2015-04-30T21:49:00

caryoscelus: There are several reasons I made my own engine. First, I don't have to worry about the rights to the engine I'm using or whether I need to buy a license. Second, I had total control over how it worked, and I know it inside and out. Third, it was good coding practice.

And yes, I did say that the game is incomplete!

As for the long lines, during the contest I didn't have time to look into measuring and wrapping text. But I've done it now; the text in the post-jam version works better.

Vacuum Attack by Pisti 2015-05-10T14:21:00

Haha, pretty hilarious! I love that the enemies are feet and eyeballs; the graphics are great, in all. I love the sound effects when you hit them with stuff. The gameplay is fast and furious--and kinda hard, actually, it's difficult to last more than 30 seconds or so. I feel like there's not much there to 'do'. Still, good work!

Wellbeing by reheated 2015-04-24T12:27:00

It looks great, although I got stuck on the third(?) level, the first one with numbered tiles...I was able to activate every tile, including all the ones with people on them, yet the level didn't end. Curious.

Other than that it seems quite playable, though! The voiceovers are excellent.

I CRUSH YOU by grillaface 2015-04-21T16:11:00

Super smooth animation. Also, amusing premise. ;) I kinda felt like there wasn't much to it, though. It was implemented well, at least!

The Halfburn Incident by xhunterko 2015-04-25T14:42:00

Heh, that was pretty cute. The graphics were reasonable (certainly better than I could do!). The concept was fine.

I had some problems with it, though...One problem was the collision of the 'smoke clouds'; they would disappear when hitting lampposts, even though the player could go through...And if people were in narrow alleys, it was really hard to get them. I'm not entirely sure how to fix this, though...maybe if you made the cloud a cluster of smaller clouds? The other thing that bothered me was that I wasn't sure how many people were left; I kept thinking I was done, then realizing there were more places to hunt down people. How about an indicator like "10/20" showing how many targets are left?

Congrats on finishing a game! ;)

Lazy Sunday by CtrlAltTea 2015-04-26T13:20:00

It's cool, great graphics and animation. But it seemed really hard. The 'toxin' hardly affects the moles at all, and they just keep coming and stealing your beer...I assumed that if I put down a toxin in time I would be able to stop a mole BEFORE it stole a beer, but apparently that's not even possible...

ForgeCraft by Stals 2015-04-26T00:29:00

I've played several games kinda like this--of course, I play them because I like them! You had great graphics, and I think the mechanics are basically good. However, I definitely had some problems...First, why do you need to tap a button to 'Give' the item once it's finished? It doesn't seem to add anything to the game except another chance to screw up that takes your attention away from other stuff. It seems like, if you can automatically forge the item when you have the right materials and temperature, you should be able to automatically give it. Second, the patience dropped too quickly. Maybe start out slow and get faster later?

Other than that, though, I think it's pretty good. I actually had fun with it!

Size-o-Tron 3000 by SamH 2015-04-26T13:16:00

It's quite playable, and the graphics are great. The idea is sound. However, I found it rather difficult. I don't know if it was because the controls are finicky, or if you just designed the levels to need a lot of care...In the pink level, it took me half a dozen tries just to avoid the spikes and pits to get to the battery. Then I shrank the blocks, carefully jumped over the spikes...and fell in a pit. It really crossed the line from 'fun' to 'rage' there.

But hey, that's the kind of thing you can fix with polish. ;)

Fathom by Joe Williamson 2015-04-28T20:45:00

This is kind of an amazing effort. The graphics are wonderful, the music and sound are great and the mechanic is innovative. The one problem is...it's really hard! I can only 'grab' a bullet about half the time that I try, and out of those times I can only redirect the bullet before it hits me about one in five times. It makes it pretty difficult to get through the game. But hey, good work. ;)

New Grafflebog Colony by monika 2015-04-24T18:36:00

This is genius in so many ways! First, the idea of using Google Docs; it's something lots of people have access to, it's well polished and it lets Google take care of the hosting and everything. Then the idea of kicking those nasty Humans off the planet immediately gets the player in the right frame of mind. The "world" is a great tongue-in-cheek creation, like something out of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The gameplay is simple, yet it keeps you coming back to see what will happen, AND it lets people build on each others' work. And the idea of breeding plants as "weapons of annoyance" is hilarious. I'm totally jealous, this is the kind of game I would love to make!

My one complaint is that it was a little hard to get started. Just a little more in the way of, "Up THERE is where you access menus to do stuff, and down THERE are the different tabs with areas to go". Other than that, really awesome!

Survive by sandbaydev 2015-04-26T13:28:00

Well, the idea is sound; it reminded me of Unreal World, which is a good thing. The "iconography" graphics are great, and the sounds really help the mood. However, things weren't always clear. Like, I started building shelter and I saw this screen saying "Building Shelter...". And nothing happened for a long time. Eventually I noticed the "Shelter" thing was 100%. Shouldn't I have stopped building, or something? Also, the first time when I started a fire, nothing happened.

Thinking about it, I'm not really sure how the theme applies, either...

Dimension Traveller by Crafting4U 2015-04-26T17:23:00

It's fun, but it needs some polish. ;) First, in games like this, usually there's something showing you what's in the other dimension, like a ghost image or something; that makes sure you know what you're leaping into. Second, I noticed that when you switch dimensions, your jump stops; this makes it difficult to make some jumps. Also, I wasn't sure what to do in the second level; I tried shooting the gun to make it go to the other dimension, but it didn't work. Oh well, whatever.

The Higgs' Gun by Jeasonfire 2015-05-01T11:02:00

Kudos for making an entire first-person puzzler in a weekend! It's a neat idea, a fun few minutes, although I'm not sure the mechanic has enough design space for an entire game. Also, I couldn't figure out how to invert the mouse, which was annoying.

Deserializer by Andy Gainey 2015-04-25T14:52:00

Pretty neat! It's a cool representation of the concept. I didn't realize at first that you sort of have to choose the right blue bits to grab, the ones that match the target. That wasn't exactly clear in the instructions. The gameplay feels pretty solid. It's a little odd that you only get one 'life', though. Good work!

Love Machine by lasagnegames 2015-04-25T22:01:00

I liked the graphics, certainly; the idea is neat. The audio is cute too. The gameplay is, well, a bit simplistic. Also, I noticed that the 'fragments' all go to a specific point, the top/middle of the screen? It seems like it might be more interesting if they gathered together wherever they were, like with a flocking algorithm or something. I don't know, I think flocking algorithms are neat, but you don't have to feel obliged. ;)

KADOOMERANG by snapman_GT 2015-04-26T17:37:00

First, that's one of the best titles I've ever seen. ;)

It's playable and well polished; the mechanic is innovative and fun. I had a couple problems, though; first, I started the game and I was faced with a blue octahedron. I spent a while trying to destroy it--then suddenly I was killed from behind. It turns out the RED SOLDIERS are the ones you have to kill, and you have to keep turning the camera to find them. That wasn't really obvious.

Secondly, it says "Complete a circle to kill all within", but that never seemed to happen. I tried for quite a while to get enemies within the circle of my KADOOMERANG and I didn't have any luck. Eventually I tried actually HITTING them with the thing, and that worked a lot better. The game is still pretty hard, though!

Belt Cannon Man by ambi 2015-04-24T12:03:00

Well it's definitely playable! The models are awesome in a bizarre way, too. In terms of gameplay, there isn't much to it; the heads go so fast that you have to be continually circling around. Kind of repetitive. Good job, though!

Uncoinventional by Waterman7 2015-04-24T12:29:00

...GROAN

That was kind of cute, though, heh. A lot of it seemed pretty random but it was fun.

Confess-O-Matic by virtualtoy 2015-04-28T18:21:00

This is totally bizarre but also really clever and surprisingly difficult! The music was great (though I guess not very 'medieval', and it took a little bit of fiddling before I realized what to do, but once I got the hang of it it was kind of fun. (I took 248 seconds) Also, I love the "medieval emoticon" faces. ;)

Calling Mr. Blacksmith by Junber 2015-04-30T01:29:00

"You died. You fought using a double bacon whip consisting of:
Whip
Bacon
Shortsword blade
Bacon
Golden handle
Spikes"

Pretty fun! (Note I'm judging the original version; I'll try the post-compo version later...so if you've addressed some of these issues already, I apologize!) There were a couple of things that I feel should be spelled out, in the help or something...like, the fact that the map is a torus, and that you can use the 5 key to 'pass' your turn. The gameplay is simple, but nice, although I feel there should be some way to recover your HP eventually (I found one item, a first-aid kit I guess?, but it didn't help that much). The combat system is a little hard to figure out, because it's not clear what's happening; Nethack, for example, has a "combat messages" system showing you just how badly you're doing against the monsters. Even showing the HP on the screen would help! Also, I think it would be cool if you had to put more thought into the weapons, rather than just piling everything on. (And it would be awesome if the game could come up with a name for your weapon automatically.) Still, though, it was fun to play!

Where Is Your Gun Now, Mr. Chekhov? by Mike Mezhenin 2015-04-26T23:33:00

I love the "silent movie" presentation, with the graphics and music. The idea is quite clever (though I'm not much for hidden object games, heh). I guessed a couple of times and I think I got the right answer...but then this happened:

"An exception has occured, but exception handling has been disabled in this build. If you are the developer of this content, enable exceptions in your project's WebGL player settings to be able to catch the exception or see the stack trace."

I dunno, I'm using the latest version of Firefox. Anyway, what I saw was enjoyable!

Killer Moves by adamwoolridge 2015-05-06T07:09:00

It's got pretty amazing graphics and sound! But it was a little...I don't know, overwhelming. I felt like I was just thrown into this thing with no warning, all I could do was just kind of stare at it while my life went down.

Gravity by suurin 2015-04-25T15:16:00

Awesome...a little Antichamber, a little Glitchspace. It needs work and polish but it's intriguing so far! The controls seem a little floaty, or something...and I'd love for there to be an invert mouse option, heh. Also, it was really difficult to figure out exactly HOW to change gravity on stuff; you really need to explain where to point the mouse and such.

Other than that, I was going through one level and suddenly something knocked me off with no warning. That's a little frustrating. Still, for all the problems I mention, I think you have potential here. ;)

Battle of Tolzford by Franklin's Ghost 2015-05-03T15:38:00

I kind of expected that to happen (although I didn't expect the synchronized swimming). And the whole thing was kind of short. Still, you got a nice "retro" vibe and it was fun to play! The graphics in particular are quite nice.

Lolita Tea Party by jpc133 2015-05-11T18:57:00

This is kind of hilarious. What's amazing is the feeling of progression; when you increase (well, decrease) your cooldown enough that you have to accordingly raise your lolita spawn rate. (Also, it's amazing that a game exists that includes the phrase "lolita spawn rate") My big problem is how some of the upgrades can be bought infinitely, and some can't? Maybe you could gray out the buttons or something. It's also a little weird to see ".9999" on the score. And how about a stat showing time played, so we can see how close we are to the next hatted-per-second? Anyway, it was a fun diversion for a few minutes. ;)

S-COM: Aftermath by chaosed0 2015-05-11T19:09:00

Interesting stuff! I'm a fan of the old-school X-COM games, so I got the idea soon. ;) The interface is great and the gameplay seems polished, but it's hard to figure out the connections between the various things you can do. Great job, though!

Rustinator by dusho 2015-04-24T12:08:00

Oh, turn-based strategy. Neat! Clever idea, too. I kind of had a problem, though, facing the robots that shoot back. I couldn't find any way to attack them without being attacked back. But nice work anyway!

Rubiks Ruckus by kitcar2000 2015-05-10T14:01:00

Well, it's certainly unconventional! As for the game itself, the platformer engine seems a little shaky. Also, it's annoying that the insta-kill fires send you all the way back to the beginning of the game. I think you overestimate how skilled people will be at navigating those jumps!

fateOS by ThommazK 2015-05-01T10:50:00

It's a great idea for a game. The interface, also, is wonderful. I'm not quite sure about the 'logic', though...

See, based on the little information I had, I sympathized more with the FCA's position, so I decided to give them information twice (and the NLA nothing). Then there's a bombing, so the obvious conclusion is that, since the information went from me to the FCA, the FCA was responsible. Therefore I told the FCA they were guilty while the NLA were innocent. This resulted...in the game telling me I had been plotting to discredit the FCA?...??? That didn't go with what I'd done at all. It really broke the immersion; it didn't seem like a "twist", it just made me think "Well, this game is dumb".

Of course, I have to give you a lot of credit for even tackling the subject!

Stoned Scarecrow by gillenew 2015-05-02T16:50:00

The artwork and animation is great! The characters are all pretty memorable. I don't know why I'm a scarecrow riding a flying log shooting mushrooms, but it's kinda fun, heh. The one problem I had was with the shooting; I would hold down the shoot key and there would be three shots...then a pause, then three more shots...and so on. It makes it so you can't shoot right when you need to. Odd, and kind of frustrating.

An elf walks into a bar... by merzlot 2015-04-25T15:50:00

This is kind of hilarious! The title alone is genius. I like how there's an actual flow to the gameplay. The music is perfect too! The one thing that's missing is some sense of...building up to something, or maybe another level. Perhaps you want enough money to get out of the bartending business permanently? I dunno, but I think there are some interesting possibilities here!

Just a dream... by ajopart 2015-05-03T00:28:00

Clever...kind of creepy! A bit simple, especially in terms of graphics, but it was definitely playable.

Discord Seeder by ztiromoritz 2015-04-24T22:35:00

I don't...really understand what's going on? I think I get that the first couple of minutes is a tutorial where you just can't do anything, and I think I get that you have one chance to draw lines each 'wave'. And then I draw lines between some of the circles and...they go into each other, which I THINK is what I want?

But then I got to a wave with a whole bunch of circles, and I drew a line between some of them...and nothing happened.

It's a shame, because the graphics are pretty smooth. I'd like to have some idea what I should actually DO.

Imagine by Pierce_Z 2015-04-25T15:00:00

This was actually pretty neat! You can get all Metal Storm-ish with the gravity changing. It's kind of simplistic, but I guess it doesn't need to be that complicated. Good job!

Canker Blossom by Headmade 2015-05-02T17:10:00

Bizarre, but fun. ;) You did a good job making it simple but effective...also tense. The music and sound effects (effect) are great, too!

Rubber Duck Regent by OriginalOldMan 2015-05-10T14:11:00

That was certainly unusual! I'm not sure it works, though. The potato flipping is all right, but I kind of feel like I'm at the mercy of when potatoes appear. The controls are odd, you have to remember different keys--do I press E to get out of this dialog, or Enter, or what? And ultimately I didn't know what the point was. I buy propaganda and my "influence" bars go up, and...so what? I played for about 10 minutes and I didn't even get "attacked" by anything. Although! I bought a billboard (thanks to a "donation" of 294) and then the billboard got defaced. THAT was amusing; I'd like to see more images of the propaganda and its effects.

Escape The Killer by Nomys_Tempar 2015-05-01T15:00:00

Oh, Choicescript! I've used that, it's pleasant to work with. ;) This was interesting, certainly very playable. There wasn't really any explanation for who had kidnapped me or what was going on, though, which was a little disappointing. There seemed to be a few different paths, which was good, even though I only did one (the "warrior" path, featuring 0% unconventional weapon? huh). But at the very least, it's a good start on a game!

Multilool by Phask 2015-04-28T20:52:00

Haha, amusing. Simplistic, but amusing. ;) It's funny, after a while I didn't even stop to think about the logic, I just mentally matched the shape with the movement of pressing a key on the keyboard.

TLDR OTT - An Unconventional Weapon by wooltech 2015-05-01T15:08:00

Oh damn, I got Cthulhu'd!

And then I was saved by my cuddly owners.

I guess to get the full effect I need to play through and get a whole bunch of endings. Still, though, I can tell there's some good work here. I like the mood and the bits of humor in the writing. :)

Mein Sheep by Detocroix 2015-04-25T15:57:00

I'm not...really sure what's going on? I guess I have to make some sheep enraged to kill the target sheep? Then what are the relax darts for? It's all kind of confusing. Not to mention, I THINK I passed the first level, but it said the same "Try to do it better" message.

The graphics are awesome, though!

Cutest Weapon by rzfmzn 2015-04-28T23:30:00

Haha, certainly unconventional! It's a clever idea. The graphics were good--I love the characters--though there wasn't much animation as such. The music was catchy, the sound was fine. The gameplay wasn't exactly innovative, but it was good enough. I feel like it could use some more polish, more varied levels and make it easier to go up and down (especially down), but overall a good job!

Myland by Kardamom 2015-04-24T11:51:00

It's a very clever idea. The problem is that I'm not sure what the best option is, why I would choose one form of media over another, when I should shut things down...What I think this needs is a bunch of different levels that slowly introduce different options. This one seems like it should be the final level of an entire campaign, once the player has learned the ins and outs of the game.

The fact that you made a game that is playable and basically fun, though, is awesome. ;)

Suburban Violence by brennen 2015-05-10T13:58:00

Well it's certainly playable, so that's something to be proud of. ;) It's kinda fun to have the characters zoom around and jump and stuff. It seems polished enough, for what it is. However, I'm not really sure I get a sense of what the gameplay "should" be like. Did you intend there to be more weapons, maybe? Why should someone equip or not equip a shopping cart? I'd probably have to see more of the game before I can really judge if you should continue it.

Soul Of The Forest by Multiplexor 2015-05-02T01:56:00

Really awesome animation and particle effects! The characters are cute, even the 'monsters'. The gameplay is pretty solid, and the bouncing ball physics is neat. It's certainly an 'unconventional' idea too, so that's good.

Sylvam Opacam by cyand1317 2015-04-24T11:40:00

Hmmm. It looks like the start of something interesting, but I'm not sure what the point is or what I'm supposed to do. I got my research to increase, that's fine, and then I sent some spaceships, but sending the spaceships didn't do anything. And then I ran out of resources...Good job, though, maybe you could work on it some more!

The Cleansing of Floaro's Tomb by Hopscotch 2015-05-10T14:24:00

Pretty neat, but quite difficult! The gameplay really moves too fast to keep track of. But there's definitely some strategy involved. The graphics are awesome, too.

Soul Linked by johanw123 2015-04-25T21:56:00

Interesting! I kind of found it hard to figure out what to do, though, heh. The first puzzle seems a little too hard, maybe save that one for the first or second level? I definitely like the graphics and the strange world you've created. The mechanic may have some interesting aspects to it if you develop it some more. Good job!

A Month in Z32 by Ammypendent 2015-05-01T02:33:00

Pretty interesting; a good start at least. You obviously put a lot of work into evoking the world, and it worked pretty well. Although, I went through 30 days and there was no real "solution" to all the questions that had been raised, so that was disappointing. As for game mechanics, by the end I had amassed literally millions of tablespoons, and fighting 'defensively' had me winning every time...the point is, it didn't seem like there was much tension, since I could win every fight! What else...I seemed to find a bug; every time the aliens attacked my camp I saw "As soon as the proximity alarm rings you spring into action. You find yourself <<print>> bad expression: unterminated string literal aliens.". Also, you set the itch.io settings so the player has to download the file, rather than playing it in the browser; and it's 'pay what you want', which is obviously bad. Still, congrats on finishing a game. ;)

Trojan Horse Simulator: The Art of Subterfuge by freeholdgames 2015-04-24T09:58:00

The game is pretty hilarious. ;) The controls are pretty hard to use, though. I mean, it's easy to hit the buttons, but it's difficult to get the horse going how you want. For example, if you tilt too far forward, you end up rolling on only your front wheels, and it's basically impossible to get out of this state because there's no way to tilt backward. Also, steep valleys are impossible, because when you go down into them you end up, again, on your front wheel on the opposite side.

I wanted to explain the problem I had because I actually like the game, and I think it could be even more fun with some sort of improvement. ;)

Flight by Norgg 2015-05-10T14:16:00

That was...odd. I'm not sure I really buy it; I mean, the 'ending' made me roll my eyes. Still! You actually tried something unusual, and I cannot stress enough how happy that makes me. ;)

Chaos Tomb by Dietrich Epp 2015-04-24T11:59:00

Pretty fun! Good graphics for LD. I like the sound effects too. ;) It seemed like there was some good gameplay there, although...I got the "transmat" but I can't figure out what it does. I mean, is it completely random, or is there some order to what gets transmatted?

Other than that, though, good job!

Etsuq by Gareth Jenkins 2015-05-11T18:37:00

This is pretty intriguing! Nicely spooky, and the gameplay is interesting. I think there may be some issues, like: How do I know how much health I have? I used a rune on my own square and got a "YOU DIED" message, but I was still able to play; is that correct? The other thing that nagged at me was that I could play cards any time I wanted, and in theory I can "run out" (which is why fragments let me recover them), but I didn't seem to be in any danger of running out any time soon. Maybe I'm just not in tune with the way it was balanced. Hm...I'm afraid as the theme goes, though, it wasn't really "unconventional"...

The Landscape Processor by Simon 2015-05-02T16:47:00

Kinda cool, although more of a toy than a game. ;) It was executed well, though!

LD33 — You are the Monster

Mobs, Inc. by Pietro Ferrantelli 2015-10-20T19:07:00

The controls feel clumsy. I frantically click around but my monster just seems sluggish. I got to level 19 and then died, so I ragequit.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Nuclear Arms 4: Fallout of The Mountain King by Logicon211 2017-08-05T00:42:17Z

Bizarre but fun! I like that you came up with an idea and really went for it. The graphics had a lot of character; I especially loved the huge arms swiveling around the guy's shoulders. The sound fit pretty well...The gameplay was a bit weird; I feel like it was laggy, maybe. Of course, I was playing in the browser, and the game size was almost too high. Even with that, though, I'm still puzzled as to why he was always jumping; not sure if that's even a bug or not. Still, the gameplay was solid enough.

The Nuclear Age by foxor 2017-08-06T05:08:18Z

Interesting puzzle game! It has a nice (though minimalist) aesthetic. All the gameplay works pretty well. The music seems to loop oddly, though; I'm sure that's a simple fix.

The puzzle rules were a bit tricky to figure out. The first few levels did an okay job of explaining them...but it wasn't perfect, especially with the way the power plants give decreasing levels of power. Maybe one or two more tutorial levels, or add in some text to make sure the point gets across?

A 'restart' button for each level would be good, and maybe even a level select menu. I realize those are a low priority in a game jam, though. ;)

I really could not get level 5, though. You have to connect each plant to the 6 building, to add up to 6, but each other building also has to be connected to at least one plant. Therefore, at the end, all the buildings will be in a connected network of components. Since you have 3 plants and 2 wires, there are 5 tiles you can place. But there's no way to connect all the buildings together with 5 tiles! If any one of the buildings were just 1 tile closer to the others, you could do it, but...

Oh by the way, I figured out that if you click madly over the board, weird stuff seems to happen. Actually, I think the only thing that's happening is that you fail the level and then restart it without seeing the "You failed!" message, but it's still a bit odd. ;)

Anyway, good job creating something playable!

Radrover Snap!! by radmars 2017-08-11T03:01:11Z

Very nice work! You picked a good idea that didn't need a huge scope, and you executed it well! All the critters looked nicely animated, and the rover was cute. (I like the 'birthday' touch, too!) The movement, looking around, picture taking, it all worked excellently. I'm impressed!

Running on the Power of Love by nervous-composers 2017-08-03T06:22:52Z

For what it was, it was quite good! I like that you came up with an idea that wasn't so big, and you executed it well, creating a nice self-contained experience. The graphics are great, too. The gameplay, well, honestly there wasn't that much to it! Also I'm not even sure it's possible to lose. Oh, by the way, I didn't even notice the graphical changes the first time around, I had to reload to play it again...anyway, good job!

Classic Games: Getting On by loveapplegames 2017-08-05T00:16:29Z

This is pretty well done! Not only did you implement a game, you implemented three. The graphics and sounds were a great fit, and there didn't seem to be any bugs I could find. The glitch idea, well I'm not sure how glitches recharge a battery, but it WAS kind of neat to see the game speed up. I personally think it'd be cool if there were more glitches, but maybe that's just a game balance thing. Admittedly, most of the ideas here were taken from classic games...and I personally wasn't too impressed with the "years later" sort of storyline, but I guess you have to start somewhere!

PowerCubeStationBox™ by NueboMundo 2017-08-03T06:31:23Z

Wow, this is wild! I also go for the "game console within a game" things, and this was neat. Although it WAS kinda frustrating...Having to go back and forth was tricky, and the box kept going in random directions. I almost felt like was a Surgeon Simulator or QWOP version of someone playing a video game! I really only got to the second level (the "last level is hard" thing kind of scares me). Incidentally, there are all these controls on the box, but I don't have any idea what some of them do...I figured out the button and "shake it", but the rest is mysterious. DO they do anything? Oh well, whatever. Good job! Maybe you could expand it out in some way?

Potential Energy by Carsen D. 2017-08-02T08:19:50Z

Pretty well done. The squares were, you know, just squares, but the lighting effects were quite nice. The platforming was...sort of okay; there were a couple places where I kind of got stuck for a moment, and it kind of broke the flow of the game. (I must have jumped, missed and landed on the green guy about ten times!) The minimal story worked pretty well...although, I don't know, I wasn't quite sure what the point of it was, in the end. Seems like there's only one ending, and it's a "bad" ending? It just seems like "You try to do something but ultimately you can't do anything" is an unsatisfying sort of premise for a game. Maybe that's just my personal preferences, though!

Ultimately I think you did a great job of coming up with an idea that was coherent, playable, expressed emotion...and was constrained enough to implement in a weekend!

Plugzzz by mamoniem 2017-08-06T06:41:32Z

Pretty fun! I liked the graphics, the 'bots' were cute. The audio was nice. The gameplay was a bit simplistic, but enjoyable. One thing, though; it seemed to use a lot of processing power. My computer's fans switched to a really high gear. I'm guessing that had to keep up with the cord links...I wonder if you could maybe optimize it or something. Good work, though!

Power Plant by Autumnotopia 2017-08-03T06:12:40Z

Nicely done! Quite well polished. The art is cute, the music is nice, the sounds fit. It creates a really relaxing and tender mood. The gameplay, I feel like I've probably seen something like it before, but it was well executed. Actually a couple of the levels were kind of difficult! Though I guess not THAT difficult since I still got through in less than 10 minutes, heh...anyway, great job!

Power Running? You'd Better Go Catch It! by dgollahon 2017-08-03T06:52:13Z

Pretty fun! The title makes me laugh. The graphics are actually pretty good! Sound is, y'know, okay. It's funny, I thought this was going to be a "supercharged" action platformer, but it turned out to really be more of a stealth/puzzle type thing! Pretty cool, though that makes it fairly easy if you take your time. Good job getting it done!

TRIAL OF THE 3 SUNS by Godot35 2017-08-05T05:38:13Z

I dunno, I can't seem to get the HTML5 version to work. The first screen says "Press A", but that doesn't work; I can click the thing with the mouse and get to the next screen, which says "Press Space", but that doesn't work either...I haven't tried EVERY key on the keyboard, but I tried all the ones named in the instructions!
