LD30 — Connected Worlds

Multiverse: Connected Universes by Oana 2014-08-30T10:32:00

Good implementation of a recognizeable game type, with a nice difficulty ramp that introduces the player to the game and challenging areas.
A checkpoint kind of thing or more lives would've been appreciated just purely to see new universes. Because I didn't have to pick up all the stars to move on, I found myself after a while just going through the areas without picking up the stars just to see what challenges where there. :)

The only criticism that I have is that the ship movement felt like it dragged a bit too much momentum and I particularly didn't like the sound choice.

Connected Worlds Public Transport Inc. by Xeke_Death 2014-08-27T00:00:00

Liked the idea and would have liked to play it further but the 2nd level just killed it for me. :S
It feels that that level is buggy.

Would give it another go if that level got sorted out.

Spacewatch by SleepyStudios 2014-08-26T21:12:00

Took me a couple of tries to realise there was a time limit, but after I figured that out, it was very enjoyable. Nicely done.

Data-Man by Hyoga-3D 2014-08-31T20:59:00

Pretty nice update on pac-man. The bullet time when you're about to hit a ghost was a very neat detail. It gave you time to escape and looked cool.

I just had a minor grip with the controls. They didn't seem very responsive and I seem to have got stuck a couple of times.

Great job overall.

Phase Shift by otresnjak 2014-08-28T22:43:00

Very interesting concept and nicely executed. Played the game for a fair bit.

My only criticism is that the level generation felt too arbitrary. I could get a level 2 that I could just walk forward and or I could get one where I'd get blocked by both dimensions in a big area.

Star Trucker by Dissiden7 2014-08-26T22:13:00

Thank you all for the kind words. :)
I'm going to continue developing the concept a bit further to see if it can go the extra mile. I'll be posting progress on twitter.

@joaoguerra

Star Trucker by Dissiden7 2014-08-28T22:26:00

Due to popular demand, I've added a Fast-Forward (2x) and a Pause button.

Thank you all. :)

Star Trucker by Dissiden7 2014-08-31T21:04:00

@bytegrove I've plans to tackle that issue in a coming update, but that idea is fantastic. I hadn't thought about it yet. :)

Thank you all for playing, I've rated all your games as well.
Keep the feedback coming.

Crumbling Planets by Polona 2014-08-30T10:41:00

Quite liked the concept and the limited movement due to the players being connected should make for really good puzzles.

Nicely done.

Linker by Stals 2014-09-02T16:28:00

One of the best games I tried yet. Flawless.

O.R.B by OhFiddleDiddle 2014-08-30T10:48:00

Had a really good time with this. It was funny always saying no to the characters. They always seemed a bit stumped.
eheheh

Deconstructiclicker by megaelliott 2014-08-28T22:30:00

Game stopped working after killing the 1st one...

Really liked the style though.

Everybody knows where the Godfather is by dunin 2014-09-01T20:08:00

Was a bit hard to select a character and ended up making mistakes because of that.

But it was a really nice and different game.

Taxi Space by DrCicero 2014-08-31T17:26:00

Liked it! Sometimes felt like I didn't had any chance of avoiding the taxis, but didn't mind. It was fun.

Neo Nexus by slumber 2014-08-26T22:35:00

Pretty neat. Particularly liked the wall jumps. :)

Trade routes by Shivur 2014-08-26T22:06:00

Nice. It's funny how I basically based myself in the same concept.

Cool to see how we went in different directions. :)

Portal Mortals by aufdemrand 2014-08-26T12:31:00

This seems like it could have potential, but unfortunately I wasn't able to play. All commands failed: "you're not sure on how to do that".
Even 'help'...

Cosmos Kings by Mr. 2014-08-26T21:46:00

Nice job. I feel it's a bit too harsh. Enemies jump you like there's no tomorrow...
Love the art style. Will give it more goes. Well done. :)

Schrodinghost by Carduus 2014-09-01T16:04:00

This is an amazing entry.
Great writing, beautiful art. Fantastic.

Glenn - A Driving Saga by Skoggy 2014-08-26T20:38:00

Absolutely loved it. Can see myself playing this for hours.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Press Enter by Jezzamon 2014-12-17T23:43:00

The web-page and the game froze after the snowman line. Couldn't tell if it was intentional. :P

It's kind of brilliant I have to say. Amazingly well done.

The Infestation by Tiago Ling Alexandre 2014-12-09T13:41:00

Yeah, more power ups would make the game more dynamic, but I enjoyed it. A lot of potential.

SNOMAN by Jon Reid 2014-12-09T11:44:00

Looks lovely, but it's hard to the point of frustration.
After a handful of goes I still have no idea what I'm doing.

Good job though.

The Tower by Chaoseed 2014-12-17T00:26:00

Loved the exploration component, it works so well.
It's like you're creating a map of the city which in itself becomes the poem. Such a great concept.

Kudos.

Santa Saves Christmas by BitDemon 2014-12-10T00:02:00

The randomness of what spawns kind of does the game a disfavour. I feel that if there were previously designed levels it would be a stronger game.
Nevertheless I have to say that I enjoyed and I feel it has loads of potential.

One of the best games I've played yet. :)

TV World by Levi D. Smith 2014-12-16T23:00:00

After you get all the upgrades there's not much of a challenge, which is a shame. Having some enemies shooting back at you would've probably fix it.

Underwater Fortress by orion_black 2014-12-16T23:06:00

Too unforgivable from the get go, but a lot of potential.
Would like to see how far can this get pushed.

Happy Snowball by gmaker 2014-12-16T23:20:00

Had a really hard time with the controls. The snowman would jump and throw the presents just fine, but moving around felt like it was by pure chance... Maybe Safari Java plugin was bugging out, so I'll refrain from voting on those categories.

Other than that, graphics are great and it looks really well executed.

Brain Builder by Cheshyr 2014-12-16T23:30:00

I didn't quite understand what I was doing, but it's cool to see someone trying something so different.
With the missing features and by spending some time tinkering with the systems I could see myself syncing loads of time on this. It reminded me of Diplomacy 3.

Good effort.

Bubblemellow by cinnamonmelonpig 2014-12-16T23:37:00

Quite enjoyed this. Not as rage inducing as promised though. :P
Loved the art style and the character animations.

As only criticism: I would tighten up the controls a bit and remove the continuous jump if you're always pressing the up key.

Great entry.

Garden of Brewery, Science and Malice by mortus 2014-12-17T00:04:00

Great game.

Really liked the balance you had to strike between defence and production.

Snowman Survival by CoderDozer 2014-12-17T00:09:00

This could be quite cool but I think the controls detract from the fun.
But I can see this becoming a really fun game.

Untitled #31 by f7f5 2014-12-17T00:19:00

Quite liked the zoomed in effect.
There was some bugs with the dog sound.

The dogs could be a bit more forgiving, once they get you once you are done. Never managed to make a comeback from that.

Snowman Defense - Ludum Dare 31 by Baknik 2014-12-17T00:43:00

Great entry. One of the most polished ones I've seen yet.
The only issue I was having was running out of snowballs. It took 3 snowballs to kill one snowman, not 2.

WELLFARE by DeathBySnail 2014-12-09T19:50:00

I laughed, I have to say.
Going to give it another go to see other outcomes. :)

Abdominal Snowman by Dissiden7 2014-12-09T12:32:00

@ShellfishGames yes, it is possible. but hard. :)
@Chaoseed YES I DID!! (no I didn't but I'll edit) :P

Abdominal Snowman by Dissiden7 2014-12-17T23:16:00

Thanks for the feedback, guys and gals.

You can complete all levels with all the stars.
After you nail down the wall jump (which admittedly could be easier to pull off) you should only have a hard time with the last 2 levels.

Have fun. :)

Dino Dash: Rex's Run by Mechatodzilla 2014-12-16T22:53:00

This is great!
Definitely brought me back to the "good ol'days". And the looks are top notch.

Smash the Game by hollowspecter 2014-12-09T12:13:00

Great stuff. Would like to see this expanded to even more players.
With some polish and a 4 player local multiplayer mode this would rock.

Now I want to have me some Smash Bros. :P

DGPOS: Defend the Gun Platforms via One Screen by callumW 2014-12-09T12:04:00

Nicely done.
After a while it becomes too easy as enemies are always the same difficulty. But I could see this being loads of fun if there was more enemy variety.

Age of Snowmen by SUNFURY 2014-12-16T23:46:00

Good start.

Super Flummi by Scam 2014-12-16T22:48:00

Had a good time playing this, but the pure random placement of player and goal created some levels that were way too easy.

Some kind of simple smart entity placement, enemy variety and tighter controls would definitely make this a serious time sinker. :)

Gadget Panic starring Godzilla by Orangy Tang 2014-12-09T12:28:00

Amazing!
Could spend a fair bit of time just faffing about on this. Managed to make a semi-competent robot, didn't kill any monster but managed to lower their health a fair bit.

Found that you couldn't use some parts although they were available. Like the flail. Bug?

Visibility Zero by molecats 2014-12-17T11:56:00

Great concept and implementation.
The best use of the theme I've seen so far and incredibly atmospheric.

Office Gaming Inception by AMS 2014-12-17T00:49:00

Best entry I've played so far by a long long margin.

Great job guys.

Something about Cats by twick 2014-12-09T16:36:00

Liked the idea, I guess because I had a similar idea as premise but for a different kind of game, but ended up not doing it. :P

As Nuclear Napalm suggested, if the cats moved tile by tile it'd be better to control. But overall, it's a very positive entry. Well done.

Terra by Canyon 2014-12-16T23:50:00

Interesting concept. Very JRPG combat like.

Would like to see it expanded.

Hunt The Yeti by Elisée and friends 2014-12-09T17:45:00

Great entry. The best one I've seen so far.
The only criticism I have is that the controls feel a bit too floaty. I guess the upgrades help with that.
Other than that, absolutely top-notch.
