Great game, awesome use of the theme, fun to play.
Excellent!!!!!!
I have to agree that the speed of the game is way to slow. If it really moved quickly, I probably wouldn't be able to stop playing :) Music was superb.
I love it, but honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing.
Ah, yep, if you aren't centered over the pipe, it'll throw this error. I released the debug build and all :)
Is it against the rules to fix that?
Crap... Uploaded a non-debug build. Accidentally Overwrote my first version with 1.2. You get what you get now :/ It's more fun now at least. Still, total time on this game is actually 10 hours or less - will probably keep going with it over time. Got a version to work on my iPhone, so that's cool.
Thanks for the feedback everyone, getting 223 overall for my first Jam attempt is amazing.
Yes, too many asteroids. It's kind-of insane, and when they hit you coming out of a pipe... it's completely stupid.
Everyone I let play says it's too hard, so if I continue with it, then maybe it'll change.
It's designed to be able to fit on Android/iPhone, so that's why the gun only shoots one direction. If it were a pure flash game, I may have made the mouse and click the shoot and aim, or it would place a sensor that your bullets moved toward.
I was putting stuff in the truck, but my time kept running out. I must have been doing something wrong, but I couldn't tell what. The sounds were cool, and the graphics were fun. The background tripped out a bit tho, it turned into triangles once I jump off the truck. ?
The concept is very very interesting. I would love to see a polished game with a lot of levels with this concept of setting the traps. Like dropping the spikes, or swinging a pendulum, or whatever. So many ways to go from here. Very smart game.
I really like it, and the graphics are very interesting. Not sure how you did those. Not everyone will think of the duck hunter as the villain, but I get it.
YESSS!!!! This had me laughing. Near impossible to play, but it was fun for exactly that reason. Great concept, excellent!
I couldn't figure out what to do unfortunately.
Very fun, great concept.
I didn't really get it at first because I didn't read the description. But now I see and the graphics are neat. Kind-of trippy and different.
I'm not exactly sure what to do. Liked to see someone make a game in Scratch tho, that's pretty fun.
Nice concept. I'm a sucker for Mario ... anything, and the game art was nice - I like that you didn't copy the original too closely and it really felt like it was its own game. (if that makes any sense)
I couldn't really figure out what to do either, but the art style was very refreshing.
Pretty good game. I had a little trouble getting into it and wanting to keep playing, but the idea is great, the sounds are funny, and you clearly did a lot in a short amount of time. Ultimately, I think I just needed a little more direction. I could only get the tentacle grab to work, the other one didn't seem to do anything??
The web version didn't seem to load when the level started in Chrome. It had a dark fade over the top and didn't do anything from there. Look forward to playing.
Once I figured out what I was doing it was pretty fun. I couldn't figure out how to win tho, I just tried to click as fast as I could :D
Pretty cool. It feels like a lot was accomplished in just 48 hours. Looking forward to playing longer.
Good concept. I found it hard to figure out the strategy to not be seen and how I would actually be able to get where the other guy was because he just stood at the end of the screen. But overall, I think it was very interesting.
It was interesting. I wish there was a voting option called "How did he do this in 48 hours, wow?!?!"
Not bad.
It's not really my type of game (more of a quick/casual gamer), but it's REALLY involved for having such a short amount of time to work on it. It almost seemed like it would be a cool board game too.
Kind-of trippy :) Fun game.
The graphics kept turning into half-triangles for some reason so it was hard to get into.
The graphics were awesome, LOVED the shadow effect, very cool. Quite impressive.
Well done, I love it.
Can you just go in the 2 buildings? Ran off the screen and vanished forever. When the guy told me he had a "red shirt" I kind-of felt like it was leading toward an, I'm the detective, and the bad guy at the same time kind of theme. Maybe it's a work in progress.
I agree that the sounds take this game to a new level. I didn't like how my bullets didn't seem to actually hit the city tho. But it was a good twist on a classic.
For the compo version, grabbing the ghosts was really tough, but I thought it was fun.
It's OK. I like the idea of being the boss in a boss battle :) Good humor too.
I like the graphics most, and the gore was fun. Those butterflies have a lot of guts! :) Nice platformer.
Another favorite for sure. Great platforming, really interesting graphics, I feel like I'm peeking in. It's really really hard too.
Foiled! :) I didn't expect this game to be fast paced at first, but that was a fun surprise, and the music is nice. Needs a restart button. Yes, very fun.
This was pretty dark actually, and you put A LOT of work into this it seems. I don't think I got through everything, but what I saw was cool.
One of my favorites. Well done, fun, great graphics.
The game is fun, but the music is a home run! Brilliant composition.
I like the game. The page needs some info on the controls and what everything does, but with some experimentation, I figured out most of it I think.
Definitely a good entry. I think it should get harder a bit quicker, because tho I kept going, at about 500 pts I wanted to stop playing. But after I got to 800ish it really sped up and re-captured my interest.
Nicely done. There is a lot going on. I think it needs to progress much slower, but I agree that it feels very complete, and fun.
Love how you took this game genre and applied the theme
@GreenPixelDev I'm glad you said that. I was kind-of working from a reverse-snake angle.
@AhNinniah I actually have a version where you can't go off the screen. You actually don't go too far off the game screen, so if you turn slightly, you should see yourself re-appear.
Yeah, I don't think I'll get many votes based on theme because I didn't have time to get all the graphics done that would have made it make more sense that you were the bad guy. So I called them "peaceful" orbs. Sort-of a cop out, :D
I couldn't fire the weapon. I liked that it appears to have switched to arrow keys to move, and I could change the weapon, but the spacebar didn't seem to do anything.
29330 - I feel ok about that :) Considering how many times I had to play to figure out how early I had to jump. I think if the controls were more spot-on when I tried to jump it would have been a bit better.
This was trippy. Had a little trouble figuring out controls on each game, but all in all, you made like..... 4 games in 48 hours. Amazing.
The graphics are so awesome, I love the style. Love it.
Probably played this game longer than any other that I've reviewed so far. Very addictive and creative!
First... this is awesome!
Second, this is just some constructive criticism and opinions:
1) I think that when you die, it should be a little more clear as to what just happened. If I fell, or was on a spike, I would like to know. I'm trying to move so quick that I'm not seeing what kills me when I'm hit and would like to know for the next run through the level.
2) I like the sound that tells me time is running out, but I think an on screen timer, or a meter/bar that goes down as an indicator would be good too.
Great work - loving what you have already!
Loved how you had the keyboard / mouse controls point to an XBox controller, good chuckle. Liked slaying zombies too - wish their death sequence more clear - they just kind-of vanish so I didn't know if they were dead, but well done for 48 hours definitely.
The chaos!!!!! Very fun concept. I wish there were some control over the cut scenes when you advance or die. They kind-of flashed amidst the chaos and I didn't know what was happening, but the game-play itself was very cool.
The art style is really interesting. I just don't know what I'm supposed to do exactly. I got lucky and matched a few designs (I think) More instructions would be great, and I'd like to give it another try. Audio was well done too. So, I guess my lowest rating was the fun factor at the moment.
HA! Disco dungeon. Took me a minute to figure it out for some reason, but when I did, it became rather addicting for a few plays. That thing at the top gets me almost every time. It's very fast.
Really fun, really interesting. Love the theme, the concept, the surprises (digging). Thank goodness for checkpoints, I kept forgetting what I was doing and would run out into daylight like an idiot! :o Great game.
I like where it's headed. I'm pretty sure I got 6 in a row, and they were all selected, but I didn't win - so maybe a little bug there. I like the cross between puzzler and action game!
Wow, great idea, great all around, and there's so much happening, you must code a million lines a second.
I absolutely love little games like this. Great time killers, and they leave you with a sense of "I can do this" but you have to keep trying and trying and trying.
The graphics make this great, the theme is interesting too.
I too couldn't defeat the boss... BUT it was nice seeing a boss in an LD game - doesn't happen very often :)
It's not the style of game I usually play, but it was definitely interesting and fun. Liked the simple controls, picked it right now. Lots of games are hard to even figure out, but this one - there was no question, it was go time from the start.
I really really liked this game. It's like dejavu, adventure game, and puzzler fun. One of my favorites so far!!!
@optimality :) Unfortunately, what frustrates you is the core of the game. Yes, it's technically easy to solve the little puzzles, but the luck factor is supposed to play into the "defuse the bomb" scenario. Which wire do you pull first? What if you're wrong? How long can you survive defusing bombs before your luck runs out?
Maybe I should add that to the description so people know that it's coming, they know that their luck is going to run out. Thanks for the feedback, I'll change the description a bit.
That's a fun game, and funny premise too. Nicely done!
Great puzzle game idea. I don't see how it fits the theme really, but this is a really cool idea!!
Nice way of implementing a choose your own adventure style game. I like it.
I think I see where this is going. It was really hard to play for some reason, and the right mouse button that was supposed to be held down kept popping up a menu instead, so I'm not sure I was able to play it correctly.
It's OK, works well with the theme. Since I had to aim with the keyboard and shoot with the mouse, then press Enter when I lost, the controls seemed a little off. Would think everything could be either on the keyboard or mouse.
I'm a little lost, is this a guessing game, or is there some logic to it?
This was really clever. Played it longer than I played most games so far I think. It's also kind-of difficult - in a good way.
This is fun, very unique concept.
I couldn't really figure out how to play. Can you post some instructions?
I had a pretty hard time with the controls. The right-control key wouldn't fire, so I had to kind-of adjust my hands to hit the keys, so it took me out of the game a bit, but I think other posters are right, you have to get into a bit, give it a chance, and it's pretty fun.
I too couldn't get it to start. It just sat there with the Enter key icon. Clicked it and it didn't go anywhere. Enter key didn't do anything either.
Wow, this is incredibly addictive and fun. Would love to have something just like this on my iPad or Android phone.
Whoa, this game has a lot of energy!
The first guy you meet made me laugh. The jumping didn't feel right, but you get used to it. Fun game, want to get to the wizard, but I'm afraid he'll just punch me and run off too :D
What a great concept. I think it would be awesome if I could use my keypad (number pad) instead of the numbers at the top to change colors. It would feel a bit more fluid than having one hand floating over the top of the other to hit numbers while moving.
Otherwise, the concept is awesome, the controls and platforming seemed really responsive and solid. Great game all around.
Too short :) I want more. This was a lot of fun. Would make a great mobile game in my opinion. I like one-touch timing based games. Very good.
Super super hard, and I agree, checkpoints would be a great addition. It is a great idea, and fun.
I could see this idea turning into a pretty tricky puzzler with different key colors and doors that they go with - and then having to open them in the right order to get through.
I like the animation and the way the characters look when they move a lot! It would be neat to see what came of this if you had more than 48 hours. Impressive.
Ack! Those creepy dragon-spider-bunnies keep getting me.
Nice game, great use of the theme.
Man, that's is an insanely good game.
Great overall game. Awesome concept, killer graphics, solid platforming... and seasonal :)
There are a 100 zombies just so you don't run out very quickly while trying to get a high score, but my son said the exact same thing, so if I go further, I'll have to figure that out. I also think BluShine is right that the zombies are basically idiots, really boring AI right now, but I have lots of ideas how I would like that to work, I just didn't have enough time during the compo. Submitted with minutes to spare :)
Very panic mixed with zen. How is that possible? I don't know, but you did it. Is it possible to win? I was scrolling, I was clicking, but I just ended up at the bottom because I was physically tired.
The art is amazing, and the game is really addicting. One of the few games I've played so far that I tried over and over again. Got within 1 hit of beating the second boss twice. Would be great on mobile ;)
269. Pretty good game, very smooth, easy to play, challenging to master.
Interesting. Reminded me of 90's windows games :) Good nostalgia.
Really clever and unique, great use of the theme. Found it a little hard to figure out what I was trying to accomplish.
Wow, this game really has it all. I especially love the low-poly graphics.
For 48 hours, that's really unique and fun. I bet it would be awesome to see a game with this mechanic be fully built with a story, characters, awesome graphics, sounds, etc. I'd probably waste my entire 48 hours just trying to get that turn mechanic even working right. Good stuff.
Pretty good game, impressive for 48 hours for sure!
Very interesting. Wish I had read the rules first. Got into it for a while then tried to read them while playing :) Nice idea for a game!
I like it, but it didn't stop and show my my score when I lost. I thought I had done pretty well, but it reset so quick I had no idea how far I'd gotten. But good job on the game!
I like Dolphin jumping games, this was fun.
Nicely done. If you continue to work on it, I think it would be cool to play it with unlimited shots just for fun. See how many it takes to take out all the enemies. Maybe they progress closer after every 3 shots or something. Anyway, really like it, look forward to voting.
This is a great idea. I wasn't exactly sure what I was supposed to do in the second section. Click the one that was bright red, or click the one under the yellow arrow?
Good job!
Very interesting concept. I would like a little more instruction. Giving food and water makes sense. I wasn't sure why I was rotating the sky or changing the weather, but when I changed the weather it appeared they feared me more. Maybe showing my power caused fear.... lol, I'm starting to get it more as I type it out. This is a great game, I'm still playing it :) Oh and the sacrifice animation was surprising and awesome.
Solid game, like the artwork, very smooth, shooting feels really fluid - and you had time to make a tutorial, that's awesome :)
Yes, this is a game of chance BUT if you send the correct character to certain lands, their odds increase.
Yes, all said and done, I wish I would have done the coding differently so I could have made more of an action game instead of a game of chance - but JakMcPloofy made some sick art, so we're pretty satisfied :)
I wasn't sure what to do in the level with the fuzzy guy on the checker board.
Good concept, I agree with others that double-speed would be nice. Sound made me laugh :) My sheep hated me I think, kept running away, lol.
That was funny. I couldn't get past the second level. I like games like this. I do wish the controls/collisions were more on-point and exact, but this is a good entry, nicely done.
I had trouble figuring out how to play it and what was happening. Maybe if there were more clear feedback as to what happens whey I push the buttons, but the art and music were great.
Really well done. Definitely saving this one to play again, love how it starts with a solid intro to what you are supposed to do the jumps right into something more puzzling.
I too would like a little more control over the camera I think, but I think that's just because there are some walls that go up so high they cut off my line of sight, which I'm not really sure why they have to do that.
Great job! I liked the art, couldn't read what the controls were supposed to be though, but figured it out pretty quick obviously (Left Button, Right Button). I was pressing tab and control for a while. Interesting idea, nice take on the theme. Those poor passengers. I respect their sacrifice, it had to be made so I could have fun.
I don't really understand why I'm losing. My days aren't up yet, but it just stops and says that I lost for some reason. The graphics are really good, the format is right-on for a sim/clicker type game, I'm just having trouble figuring out the mechanics or how to play correctly. Would love to know more, I absolutely adore these kinds of games.
I liked the blazing fire at the end, that was cool, and how the music picked up too, increasing the intensity. Nice job.
