He moves so SLOWLY - and the turning is worse. It also felt a little repetitive. The best bits were actually the bits inbetween, and the sound.
Im not sure what was supposed to happen! I ended up on sort of brown background, I could click a white rectangle and sound text whizzed past. And I could move around in four directions. Nothing else (I did try for a min or so?).
You had me at the title. Seriously.
A good start, if you do continue, try not to make it just another racing game. Bring in something new.
Very good! I made a nice square of attack towers and slowly crawled out (with about 15 research into them). I didnt take the whole map but I feel I could have done!
Few points:
I think you got something the wrong way round on the help menu, with the research/storage.
Otherwise what everyone else said. Sound, UI, and AI were what needs polish.
You're still getting a seriously high score.
A very nice game, but frustrating to play. It's not worth it to restart every time you run out of potions.
Obviously there were issues with clipping and such - but I would say that was caused by the short time frame in which you had to do this (and it is very impressive for that much time)
Something you could have done was give the player some kind of indication that as to what was going on. What I mean is when you pick things up, or open things, you need either a visual or audio indication that this has happened. Also - what on earth were the black balls XD?
This was fantastic. Really one of the best.
A nice idea - REALLY well put together. I managed all ten levels, nearly got tricked by the colors in the last one though. Thought it looked too easy. On level 7 you only need one of the pairs of mirrors however, intentional?
My Favorite one I've played so far! Need a score system to validate my ninja dodging skills.
mmm - did lack in terms of gameplay. Just adding a 'score' for how long you evaded the evil glob would have given it some progression.
On the other hand, it made me shout "No No NOO!" at my screen as the glob got close, so I guess I had fun XD.
I got 131. Any good? Nice simple game, very cleanly made.
I thought it was great idea! It's nice not to have just another shooter or platformer. The only way I can fault it is thats its still in early stages (more time is all it needs). A larger 'body' of cells, and multiple cancers developing would easily make this game progressive, and thats all it needs. Well done!
A nice idea, but not really a much challenge to it. You simply excite the electron to its highest energy state and wait for its random path down to give the correct wavelenth to 'complete' the level.
Seriously considered moving on because of the size, then I thought it might be really awesome for the same reason. I DL'ed. Give me a few hours XD.
Although I enjoyed this, I quit after being sent back to beginning a second time (I assume this was not the end as I had missed most of the puzzle)
I don't really see how it fitted in with the theme, very pretty but a bit dissapointing otherwise.
Nice start for an RTS - I see you could have used a little extra time! For some reason I had trouble selecting my little people from my planet, but then it seemed to work fine. Maybe I was just doing it wrong?
Sooo difficult to control the bee. Rage quit.
I won XD. By the end I just played a x5 card with 10 energy and won on the first move! Just a quick question (not going to read the source), does the AI pick a card at random? If so I'm really unlucky.
Great visuals/audio. It was a little too easy to play however. Also, did you know your audio does not loop? (I'm on firefox)
As others have said - the physics were brilliant. It needed something to work against however, something to rip your collection apart. Also, after a while I lost all the planets and couldn't find any more =(.
Ok? =p. Well, I'm not sure I got the message, but at least it wasnt another platformer.
Wonderfully silly! A good improvement would be a choice of attack - space mash hurts my thumb. Nice going!
Could have been much better with a bit of fleshing out. I wasn't sure if I was doing well, but the number in the top right went, so win?
I don't have anyone to play this with so I can't rate it. I think however, you are a marvel of a human being. Kudos for you sir.
I really liked it. I felt that there should have been in game 'hints' as to where to find everything, instead of trial and error.
mmm - It's shame a few mins were not spent testing it XD. It seems to take 5 gnomes to kill a giant, and you get three more for defeating one. This should be at least that same, or there needs to be a second source (time is got good enough, because the amount of time you have reduces).
Bullets only exploding at the area where you aim is a little wonky imo. I also had nearly voted before I read the comment (Thinking the hit testing just failed). Otherwise, not bad.
Planets were a little buggy (and I had no audio! I'm in firefox). Otherwise nice game.
The graphics were phenomenal! Would have been nice to know I had limited mana XD. There I was spamming away on space, realising about 30 undead through I was out of healing. oops!
166 points! Circling your enemies ftw.
MAD XD. I loved the sound, and I was pleased with the mechanics, not just another platformer.
Great little game - played it to the end. Would have been cool if the rocket had shot off. Otherwise one of the best I've seen.
Got me a few planets, sent us spinning into oblivion XD. Nearly had a seisure. AWESOME!
Had to try this out, being a fan of god games (maybe not so literal?). A funny idea, liked the vocals on the tune.
Just a note, I'm not sure how others feel about this, but I REALLY don't like installers when I'm going to play 50 odd games. Just copy the 'bin' folder and any assets that your game uses and upload that. Thanks
The fish turned too slowly, and then moved too fast. A little frustrating. Otherwise, solid effort.
I still get the same error as stated above. Sorry!
Sad there wasn't anything to do, but a good start!
When I saw this I thought of The Lost vikings on GBA. It wasn't =(. Could have done with some more variety.
I'm glad I'm not epileptic. Not sure what just happened, but I think I liked it. I made a green blob!
Scary control system =S. Otherwise nicely done, needs a few more features and it could be a fun game.
I'm not quite sure... what?
Played untill CTD. Little confusing at first, but I got it in a after a few goes. Had good fun, I ended up carving out a nice sqaure for myself, letting the enemies come back me, hitting once, stepping once, hitting again. Return to center of square. It would have been nice to have some kind of pause feature, and it wasn't nice having enemies spawning RIGHT on top of you.
Sorry, hosting site was down. please try again!
Fire another planet at it, or use the shockwave spell!
Planets with life sell for more stardust, get a few K people on a planet and you will be laughing.
What about... THE SCRIBBLE TUTORIAL. No I have no idea what came over me to do that. A lot of my friends had the same gripe that you have to guess a bit as to how to play it. Thanks for the feedback, means a lot!
There is a tooltip - use the '?' on the menu.
404 as well.
The inability to choose where to shoot, and not being able to shoot means that the game is too hard. So I wish I knew what happened after getting enough food to evolve. Also, I agree, needs a background (or a movement animation?). Funny ending!
Loved the graphics. Did not love the slow movement/progression. I gave up after I got shot INTO a bulding, killing me off.
Skunks can fly?!? I'm not sure what meant what, or what was going on, or who I was or... Skunks can fly!?!
On a more serious note it was fun, but I started out with the rat, had no clue how to hurt the blow spodges o doom apart from a kamikaze headbut. Had more success with the cat, but failed to work out what mating would achieve (I think I killed my sexual partners).
A final note: I loved the graphics, they were pretty swanky XD.
I couldn't really get into it. The list of text is just too much to read through while trying to play a fast paced game. All the player can really be concerned with is the number on each planet, and it was hard to work out how that actually affected things.
Fantastic, a great use of the theme. I too loved the graphics, nothing like nostalgia.
Originally I felt very negatively about this game, but it grew on me XD. It's sad you didn't have to make more.
A few comments:
A little bit of text saying which keys to press would have been a life saver. The mouse pointer should also move as the user does. When you complete a level, the game lags horribly when trying to click the 'Yes' button. You can just wonder of the green square and get lost.
I was going to say the music was great, but I noticed that you wrote 'Music Provided'. Does this mean you did not author it? I'm not sure if this is against the rules or not, but I personally feel it defeats the object, even if you do have rights to use it.
Wacky game! Loved the art style, short but sweet and matched the theme.
I didn't really get how it involved evolution, but it was highly innovative anyway!
A side note - I also did not hear any sound.
So wait, we evolve the creatures to defend themselves and then they can't. Whaa.. why? Nicely built I must say;
I got a score of 568. However, I never really saw any upgrades (I got a lazer at one point). In terms of naturel selection, If I killed the stream at the top, they would go down the bottom, and the other way round. There should really be something to stop me just flying through the middle.
I'm slightly worried about the use of such assets. It's not that they break the rules, but for a game with which the best feature (imo) is the nice setting (and audio I may add), that you didn't create that kinda defeats the point. The aiming didn't feel too natural to me. It seemed to aim at the center of the screen, and if you there should have been a reticule. Because the way the spear is held does not look like it would be thrown in that way.
I also think that your link to evolution was tenous, upgrades is a throw away method of getting the theme into an unrelated game.
Sorry to sound so negative! Its still a great effort, any ludum dare entry is. Good luck with the baby!
CONSTRICT HORDE XD. Bashed 20 of em out and swamped my island. Did some building, got all of the techs.
A fantastic effort considering the time, I was blown away by how much you had done. The only thing that was not fantastic was the right click menus, but then what can you expect given all the time making the game? A*.
A solid game, I got about 6 levels in before I could progress no further.the problem was how you got the mutations. Although you are correct strong mutations should stay with the player, this only works where you have a group present actively competing against each other. Otherwise you just get a mutation that was good enough for the easier level.
I ended up with no con, no life, and no speed. Yet an ungodly range. It basically made it impossible. If you wanted players to really evolve, you should give them all the traits, and then permenantly assign the one that made them complete a level the fastest. This would give a better 'natural selection'.
