Thanks for the positive feedback, guys! It means a lot to me. And you're all right - many of my friends also complained about the game being too short. I wish it was longer myself, but I spent too much time on thinking ahead, how would the framework look like and what I want it to consist of. Too less time on a story and levels themselves and in my opinion - the plot and the mood are the core components of a game. I should have thought of a framework before a compo, but hey - that's what the first entry is for, right?
I'm going to rework this game after the compo finishes, the way *I see it*. I'll then post the game and a new framework itself and use it in a future compo. It's very likely for me to post some thoughts of it on my 'journal' as well.
@Jeremias, it was intentional. It's not random, you just have to move downwards, for the chasing blobs to rush into more upcoming red ones. But with 'Restart' feature it shouldn't pose much of a problem anyways I suppose.
Cheers!
Skipping an intro is a neat idea which I didn't really think of back then. I'm planing on adding a few other features as well like pausing a game. I don't see anything wrong in having a keyboard shortcut though, however an automatic restart after a player's death might be handy. Added to my TODO list! Thanks for feedback.
After restarting the player's got 0 health and the number of coins retains. Also, sometimes enemies spawn just where the player spawns, who subsequently loses a life. Instantly. That's just mean. Butoverall the game itself is great, I love the blend. I loved it until I saw this ...

No, really?! If that was mean, how should I call this one? Come on.
I freaking love the concept! As @KevinZuhn however said, there was quite a lot of collision problems. Deep inside I was hoping that Benjamin would get pancaked when enlarging in a small corridor :D That'd be even more fun. Emm ... I mean, entertaining. Damn, it still sounds like I'm a kind of a sadist. Ah well.
Great job mate!
I love the music in the background and graphics!
I love the idea of the 'jumping' technique. The graphics are astonishing! I just wish the background music wasn't restarting every single time I die. From what I see it's quite long and during my normal play-through I'm not ever going to listen to the whole piece.
Truly made me laugh! Amazing idea, voice acting and visuals.
Sadly it's really unbalanced. If someone wants to play this game legit, he'll brake his fingers. If he wants to cheat - well, he'll break the fingers anyways. Mashing all of the arrow keys rapidly *is* enough to pass every level in a game. I couldn't get past Stage 16 in Challenge Mode only because my hands couldn't make it on time ;)
Cheers!
Like people have said already - the window is too small, and the watermark is a little disturbing. If that happened to ever change - it would make the game ... perfect. Good job on making it! I rarely find myself smiling on a gameplay and these NPCs were adorable! Cheers, and yet another exclamation mark!
Yeah, like the others already have said - it shouldn't rely that much on luck. Other than that - it's a material for a good game.
This ... is ... awesome! Gorgeous! Marvelous! Magnificent! And I'm not ironic! Especially the song at the very end!
@tfendall, could you please, please please make a ***transcription of the lyrics*** of the credits song? I gave it a try, here it is:

Could someone help me with correcting the text? I'm pretty sure everyone will surely appreciate that as well! I will not get rid of this tune out of my head for a long time ...
@tfendall - I don't know how many exclamation marks I should put to visualize my appreciation to you. I hope three of them will do, more would look a bit more ... 'suspicious', so to speak: thank you so much!!! And surely I will have a lot of fun with it. Cheers!
It is a really unique entry, I must say. The greatest issue though in my opinion is glitchy collision system. Examples:
1. I've found the first key. I felt really confused afterwards after gadding with my cockroach something about 10 minutes. I had to find a light source and something was telling me it had to do something with the crystal in another cell. After another 5 minutes in that cell my cockroach ... fell under the floor only to find the crystal item laying there with him as well. That annoyed my quite a bit.
2. After resetting and picking up a crystal, I went down a dark corridor with a crystal in my hand. I approached to the yellow key. I was really surprised since I couldn't pick it up. That was confusing as well. Soon I found out the ... ceiling was missing and I was floating in mid air. Turns out that when I was 'recovering from a fall', I clipped through the ceiling. Well, since I had no clue how to get down I simply walked to the yellow door and hovered over it like nothing ever happened until the ending screen appeared.
Still, I am really amazed you made a 3D game in so little time, though it doesn't make it more playable on the other hand. I didn't find the falling down mechanic irritating at all and the mood you created was just lovely, I like such eerie atmosphere!
Hope it helped and the game will get another fix soon, because it really is a good game, there's no doubt about that. Cheers!
It took me few tries to find out why I was losing at the very beginning for no apparent reason. Even half of a second would do it, to see where we have the Earth. Also, the collision system is glitchy. Many times hitting a fruit would end up with a fruit being on the other side of a moon and thus killing me. The idea itself is good, but where is *tiny* world? All I see is extremely large I suppose ;)
Neat idea. If only the sectors of the planetoid didn't block ( I couldn't plant buildings on them ), the scrolling wasn't so annoying and HUD was a bit clearer, it'd be quite a good game I suppose.
I didn't hear the music as well.
Great idea! It only needs a little tutorial for the very beginning though, I needed quite a time to figure out what was going on. It was fun until I needed a one-dot-worm which simply was not on the board. What am I supposed to do then? Apart from that - that is a good one! Cheers
I've got Windows XP. Yup, the EXE doesn't work at all. That's a shame, because I liked the screenshots and was eager to test the game.
I've listened through the soundtracks though and the Inside.ogg is really my kind! You recorded it yourself, didn't you? I wish I could play guitar, I really like the sound. Cheers!
Oh boy, that's the most time I've ever spent on LD entry. I just had to unlock all of the possible tiles! Amazing execution.
However I don't quite understand how does regrowing trees work exactly. When surrounded by water, the stomp regrows once and that's it. Maybe I have to replace the water ...
