LD22 — Alone

Last breath by deepnight 2011-12-19T12:38:00

Love this game, hits a soft spot as well, I didnt expect to be emotionally hit by a game from Ludum dare, but its great to see a game which has been taken a step further than just gameplay.
I should also note that I did manage to finish it, even though it was quite tricky, took several goes to get the hang of running away from the shadow and at the end it was a mad (and exciting) rush, with it pretty much a second behind me and no room for error.
Wanting to know what happened at the end of the game for the little dog made me drove me to keep playing. *tear

Well done, if I find a game better than this one out of all the other entries Ill be impressed.

The Invention of Colour by bach 2011-12-19T09:44:00

Very cool, also liking the visual style. Wishing there was perhaps a bit more to do, or even a couple of jumping puzzels or something, but perhaps it doesnt need it. Good you kept it simple though, since this is a LD afterall!

Found both endings too :)

The End by kebabskal 2011-12-20T06:32:00

One of my favourites so far. Was a bit frustrating having to start over from scratch as you aware, never got up to the 3rd character.
Some sfx for the enemys and player would have been cool as well.
But overall everything you put into this game is very polished, love the use (or lack of) colour :)

LD23 — Tiny World

Disregard All Humans by Fireblend 2012-05-04T06:04:00

Overall pretty solid, took me a while to realize the planet was shrinking, and took quite some time to beat it! Damn little humans making new cities all over the place :)

Asylum by Orni 2012-04-29T11:40:00

Very nice little game, loved the graphics. The intro might have gone on for a bit longer than I would have liked, but it wasnt too bad. Would be tiresome if you wanted to play a couple more times though, so perhaps some way to skip the intro would help. And of course sfx would have really added to this too!
Either way though, awesome game with some great mood and atmosphere.

Ant Run by fatSquirrel 2012-05-04T05:33:00

Interesting game, didnt like that you couldnt rotate and move more freely however, but was still a good challenge.

Deity by Blake 2012-05-01T09:46:00

Cool little game, found it a bit more sinister than humorous tho, but funny all the same :) Some of the better music Ive heard in a LD game so far, really adds to it.

Cereal Prize Astronaut by MutagenMan 2012-05-01T10:00:00

As others have said, the controls are a bit of an issue, very 'sticky', but the lighting is very nice. Would make for an interesting game with a bit more work!

SUBPIXEL by cr0ybot 2012-05-04T05:47:00

Cool puzzle concept, liked the retro sfx as well.

Hungry Ants by Dew 2012-05-04T05:29:00

Nice graphics, all my ants got owned by big white ones though. Was a fun game to play, except the hotkeys didnt work for me so building was tedious and slow.

Chip Wars by Parthon 2012-04-28T08:33:00

I like the idea here! But it is clear you didnt get a few things done which probably would have added to it a lot. Some sfx, and visuals to show the enemys were doing damage or being attacked would have helped convey a lot. As with a master health bar or something. I was going to say that making it more obvious where and how the parts attach would help, but I think thats just part of learning initially. Perhaps a tutorial level (without attacking baddies) would be cool, so the player can practice and get tips before jumping into the real game.

This has potential though, Ive given you points for innovation and in keeping with the theme. Add more parts, some more structure and conveyance and this will develop nicely :)

Tiny Island Adventure by AdventureIslands 2012-04-29T04:02:00

Very nice! Also played it right to the end. Im not much of a far of 2D platformers, but this one had some charm.
Character controls were spot on, and I really liked the graphics style. Level design was nicely done as well, I appreciate the fact that the mini levels were designed to be a challange to get though from both directions. You obviously did that to get more mileage out of the game, and it worked!
My only issue is that there is no timelapse, would have liked to have seen your development!

Copulous by keely 2012-04-25T16:35:00

Awesome! The change of music added to it nicely.
The only thing I would have liked to have seen would be better car controls, perhaps I was after something more realistic, and less slidy.
Fun game tho :)

Maru by RandomOutput 2012-05-04T05:38:00

Nice graphics, hard to play properly though, since theres no one else around at the moment to play the 2nd player. foreveralone.jpg
Either way though, a cool looking game. Was just a bit confused about how to control which way the boat goes, seems to be pushed around by random wind, some indicator of the wind direction would have been handy.

Walker by Catman 2012-05-13T13:36:00

Interesting idea, levels could have been a bit longer tho. Well done on making a game which is quite out there!

Polarity by nornagon 2012-05-01T09:49:00

Very polished little game here, love the text and smooth feel of it all mixed in with the pixel graphics.
Sfx and music would have really added to it however, shame there isnt any.

Angstrom by Daniel 2012-04-29T12:08:00

Well done, a fun game! My only crit with the whole thing, is that you cant shoot forwards whilst running backwards, which lead me to die a few times. Makes the combat a bit clumsy.

The Tiny Gryphalope by bytegrove 2012-05-13T14:37:00

Very nice graphics, audio is alright as well. Flying was fun, but shooting at enemies was hard, the shots didnt seem to line up as youd hope, and enemies were hard to spot since they were dark like the background.
But having said that, I played it several times just because it as fun flying around shooting etc!

Recluse by chambers 2012-05-03T16:24:00

Ha, that was not expected! Surprising to say the least, and very enjoyable and innovative. This is what LD game devs need to focus on - make one fun and creative gameplay element, then build a game around it.
Nailed it!

Dude, where's my planet by Zamando 2012-05-08T07:55:00

Innovative use of the whole 'little planet gravity' idea, I found timing the jumps a bit frustrating at times though.
Graphics were very nice!

Microscopia by azurenimbus 2012-05-08T08:41:00

Very innovative! Started off thinking it was super easy, then it sunk in! Super simplistic, and nicely done because of that.

Drill It!: Demolition Co. by Julian Spillane 2012-04-28T08:49:00

Controls could use more polish, and the pace was a bit slow, but damn Im a sucker for those gameboy style graphics and overall this is one of the best games Ive played yet.
It was a fun game, and I liked the variations in enemy, along with the planets and their expressions. Something cool would have been if the planets looked sadder and sadder (or more and more distraught), as you successfully drilled each bit. Managed to get to the end, last level was a good challenge (had 2 seconds left)
And yeh I barely even used the bomb, perhaps add some fixed ground enemies which pop up and shoot you occasionally and are a bit of a pest, meaning you have to fly round to bomb them.
Nice work though!

Lililput by Incredible Ape 2012-05-08T08:17:00

Awesome game, fair tricky tho, doesnt exactly ease into it (maybe I need to practice typing more)

Either way, the graphics are spot on and the 8bit audio is good to listen to, the music really adds to the pace. A nice challenge

Evolve by jerombd 2012-05-13T13:54:00

Nice amusing and moody game. Was fun to see what combiations would result in. Some nice graphics to be seen here :)

The tale of a microwave... by kiriri 2012-04-29T06:39:00

Good for a first time entry, a couple of issues are present like the camera glitching when you jump around on the asteroids, and I didnt quite understand why you had to press space to add new enemies. Perhaps it could have been 'press space when your ready for the next wave' or something.
Keep at it tho!

survive the world by smortanx 2012-05-04T05:42:00

Gameplay is a bit simple, yet challenging enough to keep you engaged for a bit. A larger score display, closer to the action would have been good as well, kept having to look away up to the top to see how I was going, which pretty much made me die every time.
Wasnt too keen on the music, would have been better without the lyrics, just an ambient space-y tune.

Corebound by Ryusui 2012-05-08T08:06:00

Cool little game, music got a bit repetitive though. Was fun flying around and the moon walk level was pretty cool.

Little City by dustmyte 2012-05-08T08:29:00

Pretty funny game, lol'd @ the cows. Reminds me of a lot of Commodore 64 games I used to play, and a bit of the original red/blue pokemon games.

Wasnt really sure what the aim of the game was though, kinda ran out of things to do once id talked to everyone.

Tiny War by Aidan 2012-05-08T09:11:00

Cool, nice innovative concept with the gravity, didnt notice for a while, then when the stars started appearing I noticed I was jumping a lot higher!
Those pink things were pretty brutal, and swarmed at times, lots of damage from all directions, but I never seemed to die, so it was a bit easy if anything. Cool game all round though, the gravity and flipped half made it so.

Game With a Fantastic Title by batzerk 2012-05-13T13:46:00

Really nice game! Enjoyed playing it a lot, the only game all LD ive given full starts to for Audio too.. My only crit is that the player model is a bit basic.
Also the last level was my favorite tune :)

Oh Boy, Oh Boy by Digitalis 2012-05-04T06:07:00

Lacking a soundtrack or sfx unfortunately, but this is one nice game to look at!

Cruel space by Stalker_23b 2012-05-05T15:27:00

Very nice game! The best combat in any LD game Ive ever played, and it was a good challenge as well. Almost died on those last 2 planets, that boss planet was mental!

T in Y World by Tom 7 2012-05-04T05:59:00

Very unique concept, I like how individual letters have their own traits, youve very quickly established a whole other world!

Pastor Mundi by Geti 2012-05-04T05:52:00

Love the graphics style for this 3D game, and im glad there was a decent sized level, since exploring and planting seeds is pretty much all there is to do in this game. Has potential though
And I also got stuck in the ocean :)
Controls went a bit crazy when I tried to climb that wooden house, player spun around crazily for a bit.

CAPSULE [web] by True Valhalla 2012-04-29T11:45:00

A unique kind of game, I had to play it though a few times to see what I could do. One of the first LD games to make me chuckle (launching the workers violently into the ceiling)

Haxe Planets by jfroco 2012-04-29T10:49:00

Not really my kind of game (dont like the whole one button thing going on, makes controlling the character frustrating)
But its one of the nicer looking LD entries, so points for that.

Aether by Danik 2012-05-03T16:09:00

One of my favs for this LD overall, this game is awesome! It actually makes you want to go back and play it again once you finish it.
Sfx, graphics, mood, fun & innovation are all great.

My only crits are that a few more enemies would have been cool (perhaps faster spacecraft which shoot lazers, less terrain destruction but something else to think about)
Theres really some potential there for a variety of earth smashing enemies.
I would have also have liked the end mountain to have been destructible as well, just to add to the stress of that final bit (which I thought was a bit easy), the mountain could have perhaps been made out of slightly stronger material, but not indestructible.

A good game all round though, really enjoyed this one!

Atomsmash by Dan C 2012-04-29T13:45:00

One thing I wasnt expecting to see, a Commodore 64 style game! Really interested in this one, the C64 was my first computer as well, all those years ago.
So I appreciate whats going on here. And Ive never even heard of SEUCK, Ill have to give it a go for sure. Ive always wanted to make my own C64 game before, but just havent had the time to learn Basic yet. This might be a quicker way to make something quick and fun.

As far as the game goes though, I enjoyed playing it and it had a decent level of difficulty. Reminded me a lot of another old game I used to play a ton - Tyrian.

The game itself might not be that innovative, but youve scored some big points in that category for having the guts to make a C64 game for a Ludum Dare. Might just have to do the same myself in future - inspired! :)

The last thing too - Id get a Web version up asap if possible (you said you might), a lot of people wont download an emulator just to play. Plus setting up the controls with the emulator I used is a complete pain in the ass, even moreso if youve never used the emulator before. So it would be worth your time to get the web version working!

Memento XII by deepnight 2012-05-07T07:59:00

Top points for graphics and mood, this game has it all! Love that blurry effect. Seems to have a good story behind it as well, altho Im yet to make it to the end.
I like the way the cell translates from room to cell etc, very well done all round!

ANT SURF HERO: THE SURFENING by JigxorAndy 2012-04-28T08:23:00

One of my favs so far, this is a very fun little game. Got some great humor (especially at the end) and I enjoyed running along feeling empowered by my noble ant steed. It was also a very satisfying game to play, especially during those moments when you jump around getting one hit kills, while dodging enemy attack. Has that 'ace' james bond feel if you get a good kill streak.

Scape by intmain 2012-04-28T06:46:00

Very cool! Was a bit standard at the start (was thinking to myself, Ive seen this type of puzzel game before), then when the brown blocks started appearing it got interesting! So points for innovation there, thats something ive never come across in these kinds of games. Liked the retro sfx and graphics as well.

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-04-24T04:36:00

@mattchu
Thanks for the feedback! And yes I was disappointed that I didnt have time to implement the cockroach animation for the ones you take control of, just ran out of time :)
And I was a bit unsure about the falling over mechanic, I added it by accident at one stage, and kinda enjoyed it so I left it in. Can be frustrating at times. But I thought it added a nice dynamic to the game, since *if* you had to run away from something, it would add to the stress of the situation - having to scramble to get yourself back up off the ground if you fell over.

@Shigor
Sounds like you need to download the more optimized version, theres a link in the description for slower computers which might work out a lot better for you. And I was worried about the darkness of the game as well, you only have to have a slightly darker screen and a lot would be lost to the darkness. This is made better when you find the 'light source' at least, but initially when your trapped in the cell its quite dark indeed - perhaps try adjusting your display a bit brighter.

And as far as finding a cockroach goes, theres a pipe outside the cell which has them dropping out often, and 2 will spawn in the cell with you at the start of the game under the bed.

Hope that helps :)

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-04-24T04:39:00

Also should mention, since I know people give a very small amount of time to play each LD entrie (probably cause theres 1400 of them!) make sure you read the readme - and in particular the hint:

"Secret hint - There might be a crack in the wall, just outside the cell - just sayin'"

Im not one for spoilers, but I dont want people stuck in the cell for so long that they give up and miss the rest of the game.

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-04-25T06:51:00

Thanks for the (brutally) honest feedback Shigor :)
Ive taken it all into account, and updated the game to V0.9 (hopefully the final update) so that future players dont encounter the same issues.

And can I put a 2nd windows download options up in the links? Seems to only let me do one...

As for the updated version, the level has been made brighter for people with darker displays, along with a bunch of other little glitches fixed. Ive also made the player a bit more sturdy, but you can still fall over readily if your not careful - basically, if you wouldnt run blindly over a bunch of large rocks in real-life, dont do it in this game either, cause youll land on your face :)
The slow mouse-look would be related to your low fps, Ive setup the mouselook to work smoothy (but only if the game is running at a decent speed on your computer of course)

Ive also rebuilt the runtime in a different version of blender, which seems to be a bit faster (fixed the audio issues as well), so that might mark as an improvement as well.

Hopefully this new build will be more playable for others, and I hope no one is too discouraged by these initial issues.

Finishing up the timelapse now!

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-04-27T02:27:00

Eugh! So simple.... Cheers blob.

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-04-28T04:21:00

Tomalla, glad you enjoyed it and managed to get to the end! Guessing the boss wasnt much of an issue for you cause you glitched out onto the roof :/

And yes, my biggest issue is the collisions, which are a prominent issue with the game engine Im using (BGE), and has been ever since I started using it. Having said that, after making this LD entry Im planning to work on changing/improving the collision physics of the game engine (its opensource and Ive been wanting to get into Blenders development for ages), to finally rid it of this issue.

I got my brother to playtest the game the other day as well, and he too managed to push the crystal though the floor during his first play though, which is a showstopper bug. It seems to happen rarely, but still too often to be acceptable. Ill see if I can reinforce that area more (Ive already made it slightly stronger), but for everyone else - just be gentle with the crystal for now, push it gently!

I also ran out of time to add constraints to the player controls, ie when you fall over you can still use WASD which can cause some issues. And jumping still works as well, which can cause even more issues...

Also, timelapse is up, theres a link in the notes to the video on youtube. Check it out if you want to see exactly how much work goes into a 3D game in such a small amount of time O_o

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-04-28T09:17:00

@J_peeba
Thankyou! The level did turn out a bit short, you can see from the timelapse that I didnt actually start out on the level design until there was 8 hours left (eek). I had 3 areas planned with a few more puzzles and an additional boss :(
For the game I use an -as simple as possible- convex hull for the players main collisions, the player model is only visible when your in cockroach mode and is otherwise discarded and unused.
And the crystal had an even simpler collison shape, using only a 'box', yet it still runs into issues. Ive even doubled up most important objects, eg the walls have the main model + an invisible box of faces around them to help with collisions. I could increase the physics step (ie how often the physics are calculated), but that could degrade the fps further. Ill have a play around sometime.

@R3ason, good to hear! And sorry for the nightmares, if you have any *evil laughter*.
I also liked the out of control feeling to the game which is why I left it in there and added to it, Im yet to play any game where you have to worry about falling over simply from uneven/rocky terrain or running into a wall too fast etc. Ive even managed to scare myself on a playthough at one stage, scrambling back down that tunnel and falling over at the worst time possible.....

Ive had some people suggest I keep working on the game, so I might just do that, or least add the bits I planned intially and make it all more stable. We shall see!

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-04-28T13:07:00

@Arkazon
Sounds like the boss got you before you even noticed it!
I should have added more sounds for it, to make it obvious. But it sounds like you grabbed the key and did a runner, no looking back (probably a good idea really) ;)

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-04-29T11:04:00

@tequibo, PsySal & anyone else with a resulting very dark game
Have you guys tried adjusting the brightness and contrast of your monitor? The game is indeed dark on purpose, but it shouldnt be so dark that you cant play it properly.
For example, if I stand at the non-bed end of the cell I can only just barely see the brickwall at the other end of the cell.

Thats how it *should* be.
Then of course once you get out of the cell, you should find yourself lost and confused in the darkness, at that point you need to explore around the level and learn where things are. I know thats a bit of a burdon at times, especially if you get completely disorientated and lost, but part of the game is learning about the environment around you and making your way helplessly though never ending darkness (it does get easier to see once you get a light source)

Ill see if I can get some kind of brightness setting setup, but it might just be a simple case of adjusting your monitor, or playing in a dark room so theres no glare on the screen (or both)

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-04-29T13:17:00

So the issue with the missing VCOMP100.dll seems to be related to not having installed the Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable on your system (Id say this would effect a lot of pre-2010 systems, because my new laptop hasnt had this issue and I havent had to manually install the package.
A quick google search will come up with several different places to download. Once thats installed everything should go smoothly.

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-05-07T07:54:00

Hey Jedi, Ive read though the rules on the main page for Ludum Dare, and no where is it stated that what I have done is breaking the rules.
I guess its just some kind of unspoken LD courtesy, so Ive included the original download now, note that its 64bit windows only, so hardly anyone would be able to play it, its effectively useless (which is why I removed it in the first place)

And yes, if I ever do a dark game again, Ill have to include some option to 'tune' the settings. Its hard to say whats going on with this, because I cant see exactly what your seeing, so I cant be sure if your seeing what your meant to, or if its in fact way too dark.
Not sure if you got as far as picking up the crystal or not, but the light from that helps (a little)

Either way though, I respect the feedback, this was my first LD entry, and a lot has been learnt!

[Darkness Creeping] by AD-Edge 2012-05-13T12:12:00

Good to see theres still people playing my game right up to the final day of voting :)

@JaJ, Sorry you didnt have as much fun with the game as I would have hoped. Not sure what the issue was getting to the red key, but if you take control of a cockroach, youll find a crack in the wall just outside the cell, you can use this to get up behind the cell and push the red key down, then change back into the person, pick up the key and open the cell door.
Your feedback helps though, I have a lot of things I want to do differently and improve for the next LD :)
And I do appreciate that you still gave a fair rank for the other categories!

@PIXEL^3 Thankyou! The bobbing is a bit exaggerated yes, especially when you run. Didnt really notice as much until people pointed it out (it was a lot worse during the early stages of the game)
As for the blue key, I originally had 3 keys in the test level, but I never got around to implementing a 3rd door to unlock (there was going to be 2 more main areas in the level but I ran out of time!) so I left it in there, hidden in the rocks as a bit of a mysterious easter egg :)

Tiny Quest by Kvisle 2012-04-29T03:47:00

Not much innovation or humor involved, but still a very nice little game. I managed to get to the end, the boss was a bit frustrating at times, simply because Id get damage from the fire if I was standing on one of the blocks too close to the edge.
Graphics are perfect, loving the retro looking games for this LD. Enoyed the audio as well, and especially the sound and look of the little fire breathing enemies. Well done :)

Where It Begins by FredericRP 2012-05-07T08:04:00

Interesting little game, I was confused as to what circle I was controlling for most of it though, could have made it stand out in some way. Short level as well, but for 6 hours, not bad!

Gravity Sucks [WEB] by Nocturne 2012-04-29T03:34:00

Good work all round, very nice menu and intro to the game, and the game itself plays well. Awesome music as well!

THE TINY PIRATE KNOWS MAGIC by uuav 2012-05-04T05:12:00

Lol at the abrupt ending XD
This game has potential though, I like the graphics style and sfx, sets a nice mood.

Cloud Realm by Hempuli 2012-05-04T04:39:00

Interesting little game. Bit complex with all the controls however, and I dont think I ever got the hang of the gliding part.
You can see a ton of work has gone into this game though, so well done, graphics are quite nice and the battle is pretty cool

Dino Wrangler by MaskedPixel 2012-04-28T10:16:00

I get the feeling this will probably be in my top 4 games of LD23, really nice work!

I loved jumping around, the way it worked was very intuitive and it was a lot of fun to play. I found myself not just rushing to get though it so I could get onto other entries, but actually playing it for the enjoyment. Satisfying, those rare times when you time a jump perfectly to intersept and kick an Dino flying around in orbit around one of the planets.

Pity theres no music however, even if you didnt make it, it would have added to the game nicely.

My only main suggestion would be to make it so the camera zooms out when you go off screen, that way you can still see where you are + any dinos out in a far orbit youd want to chase down. Plus I was expecting some black holes being thrown in there as well or some other objects that repel the player, just to mix things up (Im not sure if I made it to the last level though, so I might be wrong if those kinds of things are in there)

Subatomica by SFBTom 2012-04-29T06:47:00

Cool game, fits the theme really well and full stars for innovation. I remember seeing it during the very early WIP on the front page, love the trails the particles leave.

Peppyland by spooks 2012-04-29T03:38:00

Nice little game, a bit lacking in innovation though, and a bit short.

Astro Break by hulahulahest 2012-04-29T11:55:00

Nailed it! Spent a good amount of time playing this one. Its a challange, and its fun. Reminds me, for obvious reasons, of Asteroids. Feels like a 'modern' version which would have come out in the 80-90's on the SNES or something :)
The only thing I would have added is the ability to shoot sideways at times, that would have been handy.

Inside My Radio by TurboDindon 2012-04-29T11:29:00

Amazing! And for 72 hours, I kept thinking 'screw 72 hours, this could be a commercial game!'
Great gameplay, loved the beat(s)!

Mirror Rays by keenblaze 2012-05-01T10:11:00

Ah, a tricky one! The mirror feature is pretty cool however, makes for some interesting puzzels. Loved the bit where he said 'please dont press D', shortly after Id already pressed it and worked out it was for debugging the character death or something XD

Curse Of Grimwood by sorceress 2012-05-13T14:43:00

Simple graphics worked well. A lot of features in this game to implement in 48 hours, nice work.

Lilac.27 by oddgoo 2012-05-05T15:15:00

Outstanding! Graphics are very nice, audio is spot on, the game itself is a lot of fun. I was dissapointed at the start screen because I was having so much fun shooting at the title, and I accidently hit the start box. Great way to introduce the main game mechanic as well though, knew exactly what to do as soon as I saw I was a character with a crossbow. The title screen is the main tutorial of the game! XD
My only issue was with the camera controls, was a bit of a pain to use Z and C to turn it. Could have used left click and drag instead, that would have worked better I imagine (or Q and E as others have said)
But yeh, well done!

Casal Navity by Nanofus 2012-04-28T15:52:00

Im getting the same error, cant play :(

It's a tab by brackcurly 2012-05-13T13:29:00

Ha, unexpected! Didnt even know this was possible, nice one. I gave up in I think the 4th room though, was too tricky to get across the lava.

Nice work guys, and good usage of the shrinking, that was a nice addition to the game.
Graphics were really nice, and that slow scrolling background made my brain trip out on several occasions!

Haha a very well made game.
Was that a jab at the end of Mass effect in there too? XD
Quite a lengthy game, given it was a 48 hour compo, impressive. Would have been cool if the graphics were a bit better, thats my only crit. Ill have to play though again and try to make a force field :)

HUNGRY BUGS by brackeen 2012-05-01T09:55:00

Fun little game, I like how the super simple graphics add to the overall game nicely. Was a bit easy though, I managed tog et a few plants around and even up the terrain, the bugs seemed happy after that. Some additional things (like enemies coming along or fire etc) would have added to the difficulty and challenge.

Definitely one of the more fun LD games Ive played!
The combat was enjoyable, and the hats and their special abilities were cool.
My only gripe is that there was no real indication of you getting hurt, ie no sound and no visual.

Interesting idea! I like the little popping sounds they make. This is definitely a game which works because its kept simple.
