One of the most polished game, a different way to present games (sounds..) that makes the difference from others, really good work !
Works well on a mac (just double click the worksometimes.jar), I like the lights on the floor, even if it's sometimes difficult to see doors (too dark screen maybe ?). Easy to play but the large space makes me wonder.. is there a goal somewhere ?
The double jump is hard to use, but it's fun enough to keep me playing some times :) and the splat is .. well done !
Ah my bad.. You always eat the wrong meal and fell sick when you have to rush.. Here is the correct link: http://www.rolland-porche.fr/LD20/index.html
I added a post to tell the story of this game, hop, a journal !
The upper link is now also correct, even if it's a week later...
Very nice game, but as already said, moves are a little too heavy and the hit detection.. well. I got killed by "a door" !
Too bad there's not sound nor music here, that could add some stars !
Very nice game ! Well balanced (I didn't make it to the end, but I'm tired so that gives no hint)
so.. "Web" is for the website, not the "Web" release.. Sorry I can't rate it on a mac :(
Very good work, the green and red lights on the ground and doors are very well done and used ! But as said by someone above, this is too slow for me to complete the game I abandoned at the second door (I already stopped playing at the first one, but gave it a second thought some days later). Still I think this can be used as a more complete and advanced adventure game.
Also: is it a drawing of your cat ? ;-)
Very good usage of lights ! Good game, minimalist because of the lack of time I'm sure
Very good entry, but the map is a little too tiny. I liked the "cat in the box" :) I picked up all rations (to save myself) in the first day and sleep all 5 days long :) Also, I may not have searched enough but on the mac release, the locked door can not be opened it seems ?
Same here :( (windows XP, JRE 7)
Please note that the webplayer have issues on Mac : if you're on a mac, use the OS/X standalone version, thanks !
Also, in this preview version, press Cmd-Q to exit on a mac (the Escape key issue will be fixed tomorrow), Alt-F4 on windows. Good night for those in the same timezone :)
Thanks for your comments
>deepnight: you may have played before the last version was uploaded, I'll look into it
>Mathias yeah, I had a lot of trouble to make it right, I'll do some more test when I get home
Arg, I spotted two bugs, but one of them is very annoying and is present in all versions, don't know why since it was working on my computer : the text is written in white on a white background for the dialogs ! As a workaround until I fix this when I get home (in 2 days) is to walk near a wall when you dialog with another character : you can see the text "through the wall".
Sorry for the inconvenience, I'll fix that asap.
I didn't noticed it but you're surely right: I'm on a mac too, but as I created it I was surely too used to it !
I'll do some test to improve the sensitivity (but: back in 2 days @home :( ).
Thanks !
I'm uploading the fixed version (details on the description above)
That means the keypad served its purpose ;)
Thank you very much for the feedback !
> summaky : Thanks for your comment ! I wanted to make path with lights but did not have time to finish it, so it's kind of hard to find your way. I think you're right for the bug, but it's not in all versions, I'll take a look.
> Make A Game : yep, ambitious, but why don't be a little ambitious at least ?
Thanks for your comments !
I realize that it's hard not to be lost, I wanted to have lights to guide the player but did not have enough to implement all of them. You can see the full playthrough here : http://youtu.be/xnGiIbyAOVw
By the way: you can push the green button to "save" Willy only if you are the old woman (she can push with her stick)
(video has been reuploaded there : http://youtu.be/2d7Z1pyQ7JM )
Really good game, one of the most innovative and fun game in this Ludum Dare ! Should have a background music, but it's always the poor relation in contests like this
sad story, but very well played for your first time !
Addictive as the next level just starts before you end collecting the coins, but too simple I'd say: good if it's a first, but try more innovation next time !
Well done for a first time beat'em all but poor fight sensation, and the background seems odd sometimes (why a black column, different grey squares ?)
Great looking game ! Though I think I missed something, I didn't found the master fun :s
So... you kill the snake and everything disappears ?
Way too noisy for me, and what's with the fire direction ?
Good game and very interesting concept !
But the controls made me quit soon, maybe an improved release ?
It was fun at the beginning, then it get boring... then it get fun again, then.. I quit. Good game but you should add something so we know what we're after, what's the objective ?
You got one more star with "Pluto is a planet again" ;-)
New way to interpret the alone theme but it's only a "goto" game for most part. Good gfx though, and great implementation of this kind of game !
Super hard, and too bad there's no audio on it. But I stayed on it for a few minutes so, there's something good there. Also, A and D are useable in this title, even with an azerty keyboard, but the "R" is not easy to use. Keep going !
Very fun even if I didn't notice my square were going more red and died well.. quickly. I ran super slow on Chrome but fine on Firefox (on a mac). Well done, congratulations for your first time !
Nice idea, but the margin of error is nearly inexistant, maybe if you modify the jump to be more arcade (do not force running to be able to jump side to side for ex) ?
Could you package this game into an exe please ? (can't install anything on my current laptop and don't have ruby on it)
http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2011/12/20/packaging-and-preparing-your-game/
Good start, 6000 points with all rabbits "bounced off" but nothing happens
Really great idea ! It lacks a way to better link the two parts of the gameplay, I didn't understood the easy/medium/hard tiles before entering the second part.
Annoying audio and the graphics.. well, I think you should have sticked with the red and blue circles.. but the kitten challenge is the kitten challenge ! Nice idea but a word about the opposite thing before launching the game would have been great
Nice tiny game. Too bad there's nothing to keep track of time/score: there's no end, right ?
totally unplayable on a azerty keyboard :( too bad, that was a promising idea but I encountered only some blue planets and have been lost after that. (tested on a Mac)
really nice overall, too bad there's no audio, that would have been perfect
Really beautiful presentation, nice game, not a lot of innovation, but very well done with HTML5
Very nice puzzle, a lot of content for this kind of competition and pretty good idea ! It's a shame there's no audio at all, even an ambiant music, and that the end.. well.. Does it mean something ?
Hard to give this game a rate : there's a lot of work done here but it's hard to understand what to do and when. Nice overall, but the sound effects are annoying, and graphics are poor.
Very good game ! It's very well done, I liked the graphics and the whole game. Too bad it's very challenging: I kept down the right and weapon keys and it ran in circle until everything was destroyed (it was fun to watch, though). Add some different worlds and weapons and it will be a complete game !
Very interesting mechanics and good music ! It was hard to avoid the monsters but the challenge was well balanced :)
Loved the intro ! There's not a lot of challenge as I didn't encounter much aliens, but the story was fun.
A wonderful game, a great message and top realisation !
Great special fx when launching the rocket, but the steering was a little too slow to be comfortable (it's realistic, but it's annoying). Not very much challenge with the robots, but good overall !
I almost did something with that "it's a tiny world" in mind, but.. I didn't. Well, luckily for me as yours is well done, has a good story, and really nice characters :)
You said it: it's more an engine for your future games than a game itself. It flickers much on my macosx and there were not much to do. Good work still for making this in 48hours.
Well, I didn't get it ? I got two rocks, went after the cow on the right, passed the spider on the left and stucked on the pig (could not jump over nor walk under like I did with the cow),
I didn't understand how to do anything but place a settlement at first sight (it maybe because I've got a big screen, the little minions were.. too little !), but then, a tiny world to manage was quite relaxing (but the font, oh, my eyes !!). Good job for 48hours, but I don't feel a lot of fun nor emotion in there.
Great idea ! That was too hard to catch something without being lucky as the window is too small compared to the drops size, and that was very laggy.
Challenge completed !
I had to refresh the browser to obtain the buttons to modify the world (maybe the increase of the allowed cache size for the flash player did something too), I played a little with the NPCs and modified the tiles and hit the save button, when then I moved to another room and were not able to go back again to my room ?!
Good idea, and good start ! I think it's hard to make a multiplayer game for the LD challenge, bravo !
Nice game ! Hard to jump precisely but it's nice to have some not so easy games with some new idea.
Absolutely Great Game ! The screen border scrolling is confusing, but the entire game is well done and feature complete (what a cerebral gameplay ! ;) )
Thank you so much for your comments ! :)
I uploaded a post compo release with more gameplay and some fixes. Try it : http://www.equilibregames.com/ld23/index2.html
>strega : that's weird, the blue guy should always be there at the beginning. I uploaded a post compo version where you can better see the blue guy : is it working on this one ?
> Kendja : The guy shouldn't be stucked behind the boundaris whith the latest release, but that's tricky to use a physic engine for that !
I didn't achieve to have the other guys moving with as many spurts as the main character, that's why. I understand that can be disappointing !
> aaronsnoswell : yes, bizarre as it is, but intended ;) (exception made with my comment just above)
Thanks for your compliments !
>xBlinkedx : yes, your blue guy is a little bigger than the other, but it's hard to notice, in the post compo release, it's a slightly different color, did you tried it ?
>madflame991 : many many thanks to you, you're right, I like when a game makes you forget that it's digital
> Datamosh : I did spent a little more hours to have a little more, but that's still a <48h game and will stay like that, it could ruin the mood !
I can't write a comment for everyone but I thank you very much for your comments, you've got thanks from my son too (even if he doesn't really speak yet) !
>KevinWorkman ;) I know that's weird ! Thanks for the compliments
> Oye Beto : controls are made so you can only make one impulse and then wait for the next one. That's too slow on the compo version so I changed it a little in the post compo release : if you try it, you'll see it's more dynamic (is it enough ?)
I did the music, but with Garage Band, so it's more an arrangement of samples that my talent :s
> Tom 7 : I don't know what those are, but I know that's not supposed to be there ! Thanks :)
> Dan C : your character was supposed to be a different blue but I didn't have time to change it before the dead line. You have to keep your eye on it at the beginning ! It's fixed in the post compo release also.
> AD-Edge : same as above, I totally forgot I had to make it a different color before it was too late :s
Thanks for your compliments !
Good mood and good idea, but a little too slow for my taste. I liked the fake pixels :)
Quite fun and a good game !
That's a nice story, and a never ending one.
It's a long way to recover the whole map, since with the last power you can't even see what you do recover and so can't see if you explorer what hasn't been explored yet.
And last comment (for a lot of other games too) : please make something to support azerty keyboard, try to control your player with the ZQSD keys, you'll understand what I mean :(
The story is.. completely ****** ** ! (in a good way) The game wasn't so hard after finding that you've got to come across space trees to regain oxygen, but it misses music and something to do between the star chase 0_o
Good whole, original idea !
I won with only encountering 1 red ant, I must try again !
It was fun to walk though those tunnels, and I laughed when I saw the hedgehog, but the controls are too hard, I quit before reaching the flower :(
BTW I'm on a Mac and the web version runs fine.
Really good idea but that was hard to find and fight saucers.. it even reported a 0 score once, I don't know why :s
Nice and endless game ! I know what to do on my next coffee break ;)
Good idea the monolith to upgrade your weapon, a weird mix of aliens and caveman, but the fun is there :)
Pretty confusing. I -think- I reached the second level, but I'm not even sure of that
It's hard to play this game with a azerty keyboard, please make available the jump with another key than space !
I don't really understood where I was supposed to go, or what was the goal, but the visibility of the rooms is well done and a really nice feature !
Challenge completed !
It was hard to see if I answered right or wrong (but is there right or wrong answer really here ?), but I tried again to test different answers: we strongly feel the mood of the character, that's very well done.
(by the way.. that's strange to enter 'q' on an azerty keyboard to answer 'a')
Really well put together. Good game, the last level was a little tricky to find, but not too much, well done !
I don't see much the theme here though.
Well, the audio and the chain reactions were nice.. but I never succeed to do anything with the hands ? :(
Really good music and graphics, but was there something to actually do in this game ? I started to click and drag to push the slime molds.. and then just stop to see if if was doing anything, that didn't happen, so I quit. Nice to see something that beautiful, though !
Very fun game. It may add to the atmosphere something that says to the player how the level is evolving to defeat him ?
Very nice one, that's almost a screensaver (to watch for a long time) :D
The camera don't go very far up, I would have loved to see the whole world closer than the minimap but from upside.
That's a weird gameplay, but a fun way to tell a story (reminds me of another game telling a story during a song ?), Bravo for your first entry, see you next LD :)
FIY : Chrome + Mac = no Java 7 :(
(Chrome is a 32 bits only browser), for anyone that uses Chrome instead of Safari or Firefox, you've got to install Java 7 and never use Java in Chrome again.
Nice idea.
I expected to lose only when a shape arrives to the bottom of the screen, not at the first mistake !
I saw the evolution pretty clearly, and I thought you're going on a crusade to tell everyone that video games are good, keep going !
Nicely done (I'ld like a version with sounds !)
A great game, with nice graphics ! Very well polished for a 24h game !
If I have to criticize something, that will be the little boring music and that's it's hard to defeat all of them (specially the kitty bombs),
It should be fun, but on a Mac, I couldn't play a lot : trying Chrome and Firefox, the control did not respond well, I ended on the top of the bottom of the screen after a few seconds, could not fire more than one bullet per second (and I didn't pushed the keys like a maniac ;) ).
I have the latest version of Flash and that's the only flash game I try that do that so I don't know why and I've got no lead for you.
Even with those few seconds, I agree this is a great concept and realisation (well.. almost).
Great game, I wanna know every mutation !
Wow ! Not enough gameplay though, but still... wow !
Nice game, nice mood, but very short
Great game ! As Aaron, I did not saw the upgrade mechanic at first glance, but it's complete and well done !
A slow game (but that's in purpose I think ?) and I didn't know what to do after going through rings (did I miss one of them ?). On a mac with firefox or chrome, I can't see the ship, it's hidden by its burners so hard, that's tricky to see the next ring !
Well done though, it's a big 3D game for this little time.
Potato !
Nice and simple, a little too simple I'd say. It's hard to use the gravity, I last 130 only by jumping regularly.
Very nice and simple
I assume you had no time to make an AI, that make it hard to play alone (!)
The inertia combined with the energy are somehow not good enough to make it really fun, but it's a good idea.
The web plugin crash on my mac (OS X 10.8, iMac 27") but the Mac standalone worked perfectly.
@juaxix I don't know if I'm the right person to give advice, but I think the inertia makes it less fun, so remove it or use the energy bar to give a boost (direction + boost to launch the eye instead of whatever you can move to with the energy you got) ?
Nice game
Dark colors make this hard to play in a such small window and the controls could be improved by not being so sticky on the walls, but it's an good overall game. !
I don't know if there's something to do but I liked the graphics and atmosphere !
Really minimalist in its gameplay.
The first time, the countdown started with 1 second, so I had no time to read the instructions and died. After that, it went well, but I think I had too much high numbers : waiting 7 seconds, then 9, then 8.. well I almost felt alseep ;)
same here, I can't test on the web. The mac version is showing the help menu and I can't see anything (I see the player moving when using the arrows but that's all).
Fun concept.
I clicked 30-40 times on the computer but I did not understand how to do it well as I was stuck there during 30 seconds at least and did not crushed it 0_o
the ball should die more often, it's the best part ^^
The quest was fun, the pellet man too !
The third one, hem, I did not understand how to do a thing 0_o
Minimalism and a lot of levels, that's a right combo !
The music can be a little annoying as it starts from the start in each level, but that's a detail, good game !
Hard to play but another great concept
I like the rolling red ones :)
It's fun and smooth, I like it !
(but it could really be fun if you could support AZERTY keyboard also, because that's really hard to draw something with ZQSD :) )
Good use of the minimalism concept, but as said above, it's really hard to have a good and not frustrating level design using only one key (Blink uses it well with very small levels : http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-26/?action=preview&uid=5284 )
Quite hard to understand at first, but then it's a great concept ! GG
Quite an adventure, am I asleep or not ?
Well done with very few words !
shocking ! ;)
@juaxix:
thx :)
I'll try that :) check the comments on your game !
@AlvaroH : thanks ! I'm on a mac right now so I can't test your game but I will take time later on
@berjah : you know where to look first now ;)
@PushmePullyu : thanks !
@tonic: thanks !
@rab236 : thanks also ! I think the bug is fixed now with the post compo release (you could become invisible when busted), but I'll check that asap.
@Tijmentio : it seems to happen to some of you :(
Can you tell me your config please ? I modified the scale of the game so when you're falling, you're falling at a speed that feels "right" but the physic engine has some trouble with that scale. Even adding a raycast was not enough, but I will try to fix this ! I just had no time to do it yet.
@Masadow : that's made on purpose, but I understand it can be disturbing.
@JohnBroadley : merci :) I looked and played your game.. ahem, no support for Azerty keyboard ? :( (but I managed to play it and left a comment)
@matthias_zarzecki : Thanks a lot !
@allinlabs : yep, I had great ambitions but had no time to do all of them, that will be on the to do list !
Thanks to all for your comments !
You're right about everything in your comments, and I would have definitely improved story, clarity and animations with more time on it (I'm not sure I could have improve minimalist on the word count as I think I'm not comfortable enough with english) !
I'll play your game if I hadn't already and write a comment asap :)
@kddekadenz : you're right, that's odd ! It's fixed now. If you try it on linux, please tell me how it is as I can't check it myself :)
Potato for ever !!!
0_o
I like the realistic version ;)
Very nice, great concept also !
good idea to leave the skull face when you die :)
Great concept and very nice graphics !
Too bad the camera is often behind the landscape (but that maybe how I drew the lines) and the music.. well, I turned it off very fast.
(that's A and D to brake / accelerate by the way, not the other way around ;) )
Ahah, it was fun and well written :)
I liked that the music starts with the action
Very nice, simple and efficient :)
Very well done !
quite hard, the death thing is fun
Good mood ! I found that the robot was way too slow, but that's the point at first, right ?
I like the oscilloscope screens :)
Thanks for your comments !
I wish I would have more time to play more games, it seems there's a lot of good games here (ok, so now I've got more tabs opened on my browser..)
@SinistraGames > the jump was kind of buggy indeed. I've uploaded a new release post compo that change some behaviors so you can really double jump, hang on walls, and really choose your character.
I did not use a trigger to attack because one of my colleague has lost a phalanx and can not use them, so he wouldn't play it !
@freaknarf > can you tell me your configuration ? Also: you must at least confirm 2 players to be able to launch the game as it's multiplayer only. First time with controllers, sorry !
@calavera > there's 4 snowmen, do I have 4 minus points ? ;)
Very fun and smooth (yet limited..)
I like the music too ^^
