Giant's Crash ! by Hatscat 2012-05-03T17:59:00
Great effort for a first jam game, but the controls were a little unwieldy. Still, great job and impressive work.

Great effort for a first jam game, but the controls were a little unwieldy. Still, great job and impressive work.
Lots of fun! I liked the kaleidoscope-feel to the visuals and the design of the levels. It's a well-paced game that would be right at home on mobile devices.
I'm a big fan of games that involve smashing things to bits, so I quite enjoyed this. Great job for 12 hours of effort.
Beautiful game and a very innovative concept. My biggest problem, though, was the lack of feedback when trying to plant anything. I couldn't really figure out what the specific depth requirements were for trees vs seeds. Also, manipulating the poker on a laptop touchpad is near impossible.
Still, it's a great concept and I really hope you refine it and work on it outside of the competition. :)
Very cute. I enjoyed the premise and the art style quite a bit. Great job for your first jam entry!
That was a lot of fun. The puzzles weren't too hard, but they were still satisfying.
Neat art style and concept with some fantastic music. The laser sound does get annoyingly repetitive, but it's a very well-done entry.
Fun (and funny) game! Took me a bit of time to figure out but once I got it, I was hooked. :)
A really fun game that took me back to the Bullfrog-era of god games. Wonderful job!
Cute little platformer. Good job!
Fun Sokoban-clone. I really enjoyed the push-blocks-into-water mechanic, that was fun and definitely spiced up the formula a bit. :)
I loved the atmosphere that you created with this game. The visuals are great and the whole adventure tells the story well. My only complaint is that jumping was quite slippery.
Wonderful opening sequence, great visual aesthetics, catchy music and fine controls. Quite enjoyable. Out of curiosity, did you use an existing 2D library for Unity or did you roll your own? I'm wondering because your lighting was very well-done.
Great game! Fun gameplay, great visual style, and awesome music.
Wow, this was a lot of fun. Great music, a nice visual aesthetic and really well-built puzzles that just kept on going. Great job!
Wow, what an awesome game. I love the RTS genre and this was just so much fun. I would love to see this built up into a full product.
What a gorgeous game. I love the lighting, the character design, and your general visual aesthetic.
Wow! What a breathtakingly beautiful visual style and a really fun mechanic. Great job! :)
A very nice first attempt. Definitely a high difficulty factor, but that added to the fun for me.
Thanks guys! Yeah, I wish I'd had more time to tighten the controls. I'd gotten so used to them and didn't end up play-testing the game until way too close to the deadline. Something to fix up post-LD!
Hm, based on this feedback I might just add in a targeting reticule and have the gun auto-rotate to face the mouse pointer. I'll post an updated version tonight with mouse controls. :)
So I've updated the game and uploaded a new version that includes mouse controls. The gun is now oriented based on the mouse cursor position and fired using the left and right mouse buttons.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate all of your comments. I'm going to do a whole lot of rebalancing in hopes of making the difficulty level ramp better, add some strategy and make the bomb more useful.
@Nick Weeeeird. I built the game running the Windows 8 Developer Preview. Maybe Unity broke somewhere between the Developer and Consumer previews? Sorry for the trouble.
I really like the aesthetic of the game. It's got a very 'Asteroids'-y feel to it. The game is a lot of fun, congratulations!
Worked fine for me on my Windows XP machine. I love your visual aesthetic and the time travel mechanic for puzzle solving. I'd love for you to continue this past the jam. :)
Great art style and a neat concept, but the controls were fairly difficult to get a hang of. Beautiful graphics, though! :)
Wow, what a gorgeous game. I'm a sucker for shmups so this game was right up my alley. Your art style is beautiful and unique, and the teleporting mechanic has a LOT of potential. I would love to see you continue this game post-compo. :)
Fantastic game with beautiful visuals and great ambiance. The ending gave me a bit of a chuckle, too. My biggest complaint? The controls. When holding down and left I expected to move on a diagonal or at least a zig-zag pattern. Other than that though, a great entry.
Awesome job! This game was a lot of fun to play. I'll echo the other comments in that I would occasionally lose track of my cursor. Maybe a twin-stick control-scheme would work better? Either way, a lot of fun and a great game.
Great attention to detail and a lot of fun to play. :)
What a lovely platformer. I love the visual aesthetic and the controls are tight.
Wow, this game was very well done. The art is gorgeous, the concept simple, and I love the arcade-y action of it all. Add on to that a strong level of polish and this is one of the best LD entries I've rated so far. Congrats!
I'm also waiting for a Windows or web build. Looks fun!
Beautiful art and a very moody (and funny) setting and premise. :)
Music and visuals are great, but as the other comments have noted it's a bit unstable. Definitely a good preview though.
This is a fantastic little platformer! :)
That was a lot of fun. I concur with the post above about needing some preliminary instructions, but it was definitely fun to play.
Very neat game, with fun puzzles. A great entry!
A fun take on Asteroids!
What a gorgeous game. Great job!
Nicely done! I love Worms-style games and this was a blast.
Wow, fantastic polish, great level design and fun mechanics. Amazing!
What a fantastic concept. I had a lot of fun playing through it multiple times (I just had to get all 6 friends). I agree with Suese, a music track would have made this even better, but I think you did a great job.
Great job for your second game!
It's great to see a text-adventure on here. I very much enjoyed the humour and multiple endings. Some of the verbs were a little obtuse but I figured them out. Great job!
It was definitely fun shrinking enemies. I think you have a solid mechanic on your hands, you just need to develop it.
This is definitely one of my favourite games of the jam. I love the art style and you've created some very fun and solid game play. Great job!
This game was a lot of fun. I cackled with sadistic glee throughout the entire experience. The controls took a bit of getting used to and the difficulty level was fairly high, but it was a lot of fun.
A fantastic short but sweet experience. Loved the mechanic and the presentation.
Wow, just fantastic. It's a lot of fun and really well-executed. Love the visual style, as well. I really enjoyed just messing around trying to figure out different combinations.
