LD21 — Escape

Action Monkey by YMM 2011-08-23T21:50:00

Very addicting, but of course also difficult. My current top score is 1508 but I will certainly try for better than that.
Good graphical style, but the music gets pretty irritating after a while

Beam Runner by Geti 2011-08-23T17:30:00

Fun game and a very awesome graphic style that I can't get enough of. Decent gameplay, short but the editor makes up for it. Only criticism I can think of is perhaps the lack of any sort of reward for progression or score; levels are not played in a linear fashion and there's no ending (at least not that I encountered). Overall, all the flaws are made up for with the graphical style and smooth enough gameplay.

displaced by Klare 2011-08-23T19:36:00

Pretty swell. Well made graphically, decent sound, overall pretty fun. The gameplay isn't very explorative though.

* Zeta Prime * by anthonyl 2011-08-23T18:18:00

I was enjoying this, seeing it as well balanced and fun with a decent fighting system, then suddenly 2 of my units are killed in 1 hit each on the same place, same turn early on (84 and 68 points of damage), which just put me off sad to say. Otherwise, its fun, fits the theme, and well programmed from what I can tell. I might bring myself to play it further again sometime but as of yet I haven't beaten it.

Escape From Poorhood by tusongtupa 2011-08-23T00:15:00

geckojsc, the graphics in this entry are majoritively stock sprites from RPG Maker VX. They are not his.

Escape From Poorhood by tusongtupa 2011-08-23T20:43:00

Now that I've actually played this; serious bugs, you can just repetatively talk to the guy with blue hair at the table and he gives you money each time... and everyone else it'd seem too, unless its simply glitching for me.
This is nothing more than relentless buttonmashing and a sloppy game even by stock-sprite RPG-maker games. My guess is this is crap thrown together as an excuse to vote on other games.

Frickin' Laser Beams by uncade 2011-08-23T09:07:00

Niice, this was addicting and pretty well balanced. Great level design too.

/ ESCAPE \ by schonstal 2011-08-23T19:32:00

Very fun game, polished, good sound and is very fun. Unfortunately my Esc key now sticks :(

Prison Escapor by ZenithSal 2011-08-23T09:26:00

Interesting concept, was fun.

NO ESCAPE by jukimv1986 2011-08-23T02:23:00

Interesting engine, nice concept and well executed, but doesn't hold attention for long. The sound can become quite irritating pretty soon too.

Action Time : Escape from the dangerous explosive complex by TurboDindon 2011-08-23T03:16:00

Very nicely made, superb graphics quality, good sound effects, smooth movement and a decent shooting system. The health and rewind mechanics don't feel right at all though, but its still fun to play.... until you beat it, which is unfortunate given how short it is.

ESCAPE by TerryDiF 2011-08-23T09:42:00

Short but very fun. As a Myst fan, I cant help but love this kind of game though. Particularly love the graphical style too.

LD22 — Alone

Farrokh by DoktorAce 2011-12-18T17:38:00

Very nicely made, well polished, not the best gameplay ever but good enough for an LD.

LD23 — Tiny World

Finding Yourself by Maple 2012-04-25T19:19:00

My record is 59 seconds. Really fun game, but, being always critical I have a few gripes:
-The difficulty curve is very steep
-The character sprite looks... odd, to say the least.
-Some of those keys... maaan... you crazy.
-Purple, gradient background colour?
-No way to toggle the music.

LD24 — Evolution

TOWER of Evolution by SiENcE 2012-08-27T14:03:00

Hilarious and awesome. Not very innovative or theme relevant but the humour makes up for it, adding to the gameplay, and the sound adds to the humour (that comical loop, the ridiculous sfx).

The graphical stile is pretty slick too, but the black and white tiles is quite different to the character style.

DeviLock by Misfit 2012-09-04T18:38:00

The 'power' causing you to die after colliding 4 times, even if only barely moving, simply drove me nuts, forcing me to slow down huge amounts, and also caused some rather very unfair deaths.

However it was very fun otherwise, loving the demoscene-like retro feeling that I get from it too. Music is simple but works very well, as do the sounds. Overall a very neat game.

You ARE the RAIN by alvivar 2012-09-04T18:24:00

My hand is sore from rapidly clicking after that. It was alright, good atmosphere and graphics, music and sounds were good too.

Overall it was nice but yeah, autofire would've made this a lot better.

Fend off waves of zombies with your evolving gun DELUXE by Ezzam 2012-08-27T08:23:00

Conceptually its not that imaginative. But its pretty solid and is addicting and fun to play.

However... I'll be bluntly honest. There were some missing controls that really should have existed, such as a key to force the next wave (the wait between waves at the beginning is waaaay too long), a key to restart the game after game over (rather than closing and reopening the game), WASD keys as well as just arrow keys to move, and perhaps something to toggle autofire while the mouse is held down... as clicking the mouse constantly was a bit tiring over time.

Graphically rather flat... the colours worked together so it was fine, and it works for this kind of game perfectly well. It's very hard to tell what the different guns in the evolution tab are supposed to be, which is something of an annoyance since you don't know what you're picking.

The sounds were okay, but a game like this could really have benefited from some fast paced, adrenaline pumping music later on, and slower music earlier on perhaps.

Overall I'd call this good, but it could've done with some music, better controls, and clearer weapon evolution graphics.

Finally, a standalone file would've been better than an installer, but I won't change your rating over that.

Title Goes Here... by eShredder 2012-08-27T08:38:00

Sorry but I'll be honest- it feels more like a grindquest than an actual survival shooter.

The controls are smooth, the guns are good etc, but really its all about finding a safe place to stand, farming money off zombies, then buying a better gun to more easily farm money off them. It's a bit lacking for me in motivation to continue playing... but I did anyway, for the sake of testing it.

Graphically it's nice, great background and characters, nice graphical style but again I'll be honest, nothing astounding in terms of graphics.

Audio... N/A because for it it didn't have any sounds, after reading your description but I'm not sure if that's intended.

Anyway... money to evolve, when you think about it, sounds a little funny, an upgrades-style game always fits the theme of evolution.

Overall, smooth gameplay, quite nice graphics but not very enticing to progress on for me, I'm sorry to say, since my first impression thought it'd be otherwise... oh well.

EvoRVB by Jimbobblue 2012-08-27T08:52:00

My guess is that you're new to game making. That's cool, we all start somewhere, and it's a good game for a beginner. However I rate every game with respect to the other entries, so, sorry I have to be so very harsh in the following review:

Gameplay... gameplay... Sorry but, there are so many things you could have done, or added, even in scratch, that could've improved the gameplay. Like, for a start, being able to hold down the movement keys to continue moving in that direction.
The "goal", I'll be honest, I can't ever seem to achieve, since the "black blob" hovers around the red and blue uh... things all the time. Health seems useless, since if you're hit, it always 1-hit kills me anyway, and power doesn't seem to do anything but my guess is that getting enough wins the game?

Graphically, I've seen worse, believe me, but this is rather shabby. I've used scratch (against my will) for a few days so I know what it's like trying to make things in its default editor so I can sympathise, but that won't affect my overall judgement: flat colours, very basic vector graphics, white squares vs black squares, dog-like... things...

Audio gets an N/A since there is none. Mood gets N/A since, to be fair, there is none. And humor, well, that's about the highest rating you'll get.

Parasite by RedDwarf 2012-08-27T09:06:00

Well, this game is interesting, if a bit easy. I love the concept of being the parasite, and it fits the theme well.

It's reasonably amusing, but doesn't have any long term gameplay value really. It is fun to watch the infection spread and wipe out the whole system, but only for a time. It feels like pretty much the same thing every time, and once you're out of uses to infect cells, your control is so limited that you may as well just sit back and watch.

Sounds are okay, simple beeps, but they do the job.

Graphics however... rather bare. A black background, and simple blurred spheres. For the sake of both atmosphere and graphics, a game like this should optimally feel really like the inside of a living creature, not like some sort of space billards (you've been watching too much red dwarf I'm guessing).

Overall decent presentation, fun and amusing to play, but not for very long.

LD24 X0ut by X-0ut 2012-08-27T20:50:00

Wow. Just wow. Gameplay wise, graphics wise, audio wise, mood wise and theme wise, this fits all the categories.

Highly addicting, stunning looking, well balanced so far, good music and sfx. Dear god man, this is awesome. Second Ludum Dare game ever that I gave a 5 for in overall, although this is the jam.

Click Red, Eat Rest by Beep2Bleep 2012-08-27T09:10:00

I won't rate this for now because... is this some kind of joke?

Or did you forget to mention something... or hell maybe it's glitched for me?

Because every time the game starts, some character thing falls off the edge of the screen and you lose... yet you're able to "grow". Before you mention the red squares, note that i lose before even 1 red square appears onscreen. And clicking the ghosts has no effect on the outcome at all (so I assume its a glitched game over screen).

Aargh, Invaders by HeavyMetalKid 2012-08-27T09:24:00

Whew, okay...
Well, its reasonably fun. I really ain't feeling the "evolution" aspect to it though - I got to about generation 10 and it feels like pretty much the same thing constantly now. Also, I don't know if this is intentional or nor but... you can't get game over? I die, lose some score and continue on?

If that's fully intentional to be able to die an infinite number of times then cool, but then there's the problem that, either I got better or at the later waves the enemies give a greater score bonus, and unless I try to die I pretty much always am able to wrack up my score back to the positives (the penalty becomes too small)...

Sounds... ooh my my head, the same sfx 100,000 times. The sound works, but some variety would've been nice, perhaps with quieter sound, and some music, that would've been optimal.

Graphics are good, retro theme is appealing... the enemy ship design is the only thing looking rather weird but it's alrite.

Overall one of the best games I've played yet from sorting by "Least ratings" .

Super Robocade by VoEC 2012-08-27T18:51:00

Really fun and addicting. Enjoyed playing it, love the graphical style. The menu music is a bit dull though, and the game proper could really have done with some music.

Evolution RPG by SimonRhys 2012-09-01T12:48:00

This was actually surprisingly alright as a grindquest rpg. It kept me going all the way until I was level 6, with 3 evolutions, when enemies had become irritatingly scarce and all you could do was go down, and down, and down.

Felt more like an rpg than most "RPG" LD entries I've played. Of course the sprites really subtract from it, although the main character is still funny.

A lack of music and only the most basic sfx makes sound almost a non-factor in this.

LimiT by Sakuyan 2012-09-04T14:12:00

Graphically very well made, pretty fun too but short. The lack of sound is quite a disappointment and would really have gone well with the rest of the game but oh well.

Simulation by CarbonCoder 2012-09-03T09:54:00

Yup. Windows 7 32bit, same error as everyone else regardless of Java version used and whether run from prompt or not.

The Last Creationist by ubear 2012-09-02T07:03:00

Hehe.. very easy, decent humor though, and okay gameplay to go with it (those bomb weapons you basically just had to spam all the time, which was tiring).

The audio was alright but the bomb and evolution sound effects got annoying... over time.

The ending was cringeworthy.

Stevie Asteroid Rescues the Hovercredits by KHANanaphone 2012-09-03T10:26:00

It was good, fun at first, and "evolves" seamlessly. But it felt very unrefined- the end for one, looked slopped together. The jumping (it triggers if up is held, not just when first pressed, causing unintentional jumps on ledges when only trying to jump the max height), the difficulty of the last level (those platforms fall too fast, the first obstacle was poorly timed).

The audio was okay but got repetitive, and it didn't loop unless you die/move on (found out by accident).

Graphics were a bit weird at the menu but decent after that.

Overall though its fun, and fairly well executed.

Tileshift by ioquatix 2012-08-29T15:34:00

Decent idea, a bit buggy but works well most of the time, until you reach the later levels. The monsters, combined with bad luck, make this game rather frustrating. It is fun for a while though.

The graphics are good, bar the character sprite, the idea fits the theme too. Overall its a decent game, but a bit too frustrating with bad luck (especially having to die or even restart when a level turns out impossible due to generation and/or monsters).

Beyond Darkness by Raven IX 2012-09-02T06:56:00

Sadly very lacking in gameplay. About the only thing I can really say from what there is, is the title screen is awesome. The actual in-game graphics are not so stunning.

Candevolution by commanderstitch 2012-08-27T14:39:00

Well. I tried, I really did. I got to the first room.. and after what must've been 500 tries (no exaggeration), I beat it. Maybe I was doing something wrong, trying to destroy them 1 after another with the candy?
Well. Then I got to the boss. Before you ask, yes I know what D does, but that doesn't help me against this guy's horrible square hitbox. The amount of times I died hitting the corner of his large square hitbox..... dear god man. Then I quit.

Anyway gameplay wise, this is pretty weak. The game works and such, but really, the difficulty is seriously wrong.

Graphically it was good, or so I thought until I reached that first boss... but everything else graphically was decent.

Sound is okay, could've done with some music

Swarm by Will Xyen 2012-08-27T16:48:00

Well. Given a lot more time to balance the game, and a lot more explanation than the UI, this game would be really fun. For now it's still fun, but it doesn't feel balanced at all, and to be honest the evolution system feels a bit broken, and enemies of higher levels seem to have a negligible effect. I can't for the life of me figure out what the "upgrade points" are, either.

(T)rippy mode was awesome though... before my eyes started to water.

Additive by Desi Quintans 2012-09-01T13:10:00

Great concept, well executed, and addicting until the end. But don't get me wrong, the game kinda tires the concept out by the end of the 16 levels :/

The simple graphics suit the simple concept behind the puzzle...
Some basic sounds would always be nice but oh well.

It isn't all that engaging though, mood and theme are rather missing in this (that gradient background just isn't enough, the lack of any sort of music too).

One of very few games I've ever given a 5 for in innovation.

Dawn of the Opposable Thumbs by Hatsun 2012-09-04T14:23:00

Reasonably decent strategy game, but it didn't feel like there was enough of a penalty for losing a forager, and as such it was rather easy to get to the end if you timed your movements right, even after losing a few foragers.

Lolicopocalypse by quasist 2012-09-01T13:35:00

The camera moves a bit slow, but otherwise this is one strange piece. No way to win it seems, the spreading uhh... thing, always gets to you eventually :c

Love the graphics and musical style, and this is a real contender for mood.

How Mosquito Became Human by SaintHeiser 2012-08-29T14:24:00

Great little game, ending was epic too. The music is decent, graphical style is great too, all in all a very nice entry.

Digital Evolution by TheJackiMonster by TheJackiMonster 2012-08-27T17:17:00

Well, after playing this, sorry to say but this seems to be a mess of glitches, or I'm missing something. The enemies... I can't figure out how to attack them, or hell, even how to get them to damage me, it seems at random specific distances away from them they attack. The jump feels a bit too low, maximum falling speed is waaay too slow, and I can't figure out what those bones or spiky things do. The physics is generally pretty glitchy too and I often get stuck in things, for instance: http://i.imgur.com/glVMS.png

The graphics are pretty decent though, the sounds are okay, but there is no music unfortunately, this game would feel a lot better even with just some autotracker music.

Go Back by Aceria 2012-09-14T11:04:00

Very fun and well made. Music and graphical style both work, and feel polished for the time. The ending however, was an obvious attempt to make up for the lack of relevance to the theme.

Overall, excellent.

Silent Game of Death by everchanger 2012-08-27T20:15:00

Graphically very appealing, and a great concept, although pretty much every level from 2 onwards feels the same due to the nature of Conway's Game of Life :/

Entourage by jprogman 2012-09-02T10:56:00

The amount of micromanagement made this game really tiring, but otherwise it was an excellent concept and decently executed.

Not very good control scheme either (you could for example have added a select-multiple method by dragging, and a zoom in/out via mouse scroller/pageup/pagedn, which really would've added to the smoothness of gameplay a LOT).

Evolization by arzi 2012-08-27T17:04:00

Well, it's fun and interesting. There's a huge amount of luck required to go far though. I have not yet managed to reach late generations for long, as circumstantial luck becomes too great a factor over time.

Graphically the colours are a bit dark (could've done with being a bit brighter), but the models work well, and the UI is very clear and comprehensive which is always good.

Overall a neat little game, but can be rather frustrating when you lose >__>

Fall Of The Ark by rekcahdam 2012-09-01T11:15:00

Ambitious, looks great, good idea, but ehh, the gameplay could've done with a lot of work.

Overall though it's amazing. The artwork and music were both astounding too. Felt very rushed at the end. Very understandable though of course, given it's LD.

Shapelution by TuxedoFish 2012-09-02T11:01:00

Very interesting background, it made some interesting shapes, but gameplay wise it leaves a lot to be desired... sometimes some shapes are never even onscreen making progression impossible.

Not being able to aim also hurts, and having no goal and no way to lose other than bad luck is even more disheartening.

Oh well, overall it was alright.

Parental Guidance by Maple 2012-08-27T15:20:00

o_o
Wellll that was uhh... worth playing. Haha, how to comment without spoiling anything for people who read the comments. Let's just say, keep playing until you start to see things change. That was awesome.
Neat graphics, the music fits, sounds are a little abrupt but well placed. Mood was perfect. A but lacking on "fun" in that its frustrating constantly backtracking (don't know exactly how it is that events are triggered).

Neural Nodes by Kmad 2012-09-01T12:23:00

Pretty neat, felt surprisingly well balanced too. Obvious lack of audio didn't actually matter too much here but it could've done with some wacky sound effects of course... The artwork is great, as is the gameplay, until you develop a pretty much unbeatable strategy (maybe after playing it once or twice you how to pretty much always win, provided your luck isn't awful).

Evolution of Video Game by jellycubestudio 2012-08-30T20:07:00

A nice idea and well executed- were you making a remark about modern games by making the spriting worse, or was it just that your retro green sprites were just awesome?

Anyway, good overall awesome spriting too... needs music though.

Octogeddon by flyingbear 2012-09-01T13:54:00

Very fun. My only gripe about the gameplay is that when you lose, the wait to get back to later waves is so, so long..

Graphics were neat, music and sounds worked well too, and gameplay-wise very addicting, but a bit of a grindquest

Contagion by TheVastBernie 2012-08-29T14:03:00

The Win7 version did not work for me on windows 7.
I tried the XP version which worked, but the enemy cells just tended to do nothing. For now I won't rate this though, but it looks to be really, really awesome.

Our FIRST Game, MiW by JPNETO 2012-09-01T11:22:00

Okay so, this looks interesting but I, like many others here, are suffering many problems and glitches when running it.
I managed to get past "Level 1 - Creation" but once I'm at some spinning world, there doesn't appear to be a character or anything... and I can only move if I hold space. And I randomly got a game over from holding right.... and from then on I can't get past the "Level 1 - Creation" screen

Stellar Nursery by seemo 2012-09-03T09:49:00

It has an amazing atmosphere and music. If you'd made something out of this gameplay-wise it would've been a top class entry in every way.

SUPER Levolution by TheBallCollective 2012-08-29T15:07:00

Very impressive for 72 hours. A neat little game, good graphics, music is okay but gets repetitive. Overall great.

Legacy of Lavern by Spunkmeyer 2012-09-01T12:09:00

Felt quite difficult to hit an enemy without standing right on front of them, making evasion often impossible?
The graphics were okay, but the gameplay really stinted- impressive enough that you made an rpg engine in 48 hours but still very lacking in balance and fun unfortunately - in other words, a bit too ambitious for LD.

No sound really subtracts from the mood, too.

Vicariously by pdyxs 2012-09-04T14:41:00

Like everyone else, I'm not really sure what I'm doing. Nevertheless, it's interesting and fun to mess around with it.

The Last Stand by trylle 2012-09-02T11:17:00

Tried to run it, got this error: http://i.imgur.com/61J3E.png

Windows 7 32bit.. Pity, since it looked interesting

The Legend of Elzad by arkeus 2012-08-27T19:22:00

Very nice engine. Great spriting too. Music is good but gets rather repetative. I'm very impressed you got all that done in 2 days, 2 thumbs up for the effort man.

Skimping a lot on theme relevance though? I don't see a single thing relevant to the theme.

Epocalypse by wupto 2012-09-01T13:23:00

Very fun. But goes from easy to very difficult once those crazy red zombies start appearing. Days seem a bit too long but that's okay I guess.

The graphics were awesome :D, music worked well, and all in all it was great. Lacked a bit more variety but oh well, you made it in 48 hours so it's perfectly understandable.

Super Conga Kat by steve 2012-08-27T09:38:00

Loving the screenshot. Unfortunately I'm on a DX9 card (on Windows 7, with DX11 installed) and cannot play it. I guess I'll have to wait.

Super Conga Kat by steve 2012-08-27T18:12:00

With a DX9 version that (fortunately) works for me, I was able to play this. There were a few minor rendering glitches but I'd put that down to it being the DX9 version.

Anyway, to the point:
Gameplay wise this was really fun- a simple platformer done very well, and balanced- not too difficult either. The difficulty curve took a MASSIVE spike just before the end but that's fine haha. Gameplay wise all I can say is its too short... but that is understandable in the time.

I Am A Tree. You Are Not. Ha Ha. by angrygeometry 2012-09-07T09:25:00

Haha, this game was really odd, but well done. Kept me intrigued until the end. The graphics... well, it fitted well with the sense of humour, as did the music- it sounded very similar to the music in dwarf fortress though in parts.

Overall, upon first impression one would think this is one of those crappy half-assed entries, which I assume was very much intentional. But right from the start, with the dialogue, you know its actually going to be awesome. Which it was. Particularly the story and audio, and the end.

Unnatural Selection by Porter 2012-08-27T17:28:00

Not much in terms of gameplay BUT, this game is really, really swell so far. Concept is good too but if you're going to continue with it, give the player a reason not to camp at the safe room - for ammo, perhaps?

Loving both the graphics and sound. This bags the mood category too... Theme however, it's a pretty weak link.

Biotic by aeonofdiscord 2012-08-29T14:33:00

Very interesting... game. It's fun to mess around with it for a fair while before you realise there is no real goal.

Graphically appealing too, and the music is okay (except that it ended abruptly, for me at least).

How evolution really works? by keenblaze 2012-09-01T11:40:00

Didn't really dig the music but the idea was great, graphics were great, and it was funny for once too which is always good.

Evolving Empire by Spaceoff 2012-08-28T14:54:00

Thanks for the positive feedback guys :D
Anyway I shall not be working on this entry much, for I'll instead be making a proper, interesting 4X game sometime.

I've been experimenting recently with terrain generation over the past 2 days and I believe I have gotten what I wanted, so I might make 1 more update to this soon with randomly generated maps (and any bugfixes) and leave it at that (obviously though, for rating it, the original release is what you're going to have to judge).

HumanTECH by minism 2012-08-27T18:34:00

A bit slow paced for my taste, but fun, great game mechanic, really slick graphic style, music works decently enough, sounds are fine. There are a few minor depth glitches from place to place, and a few collision glitches but no big deal.

Evolvsion by sP0CkEr2 2012-09-01T12:03:00

Pretty well done. Kinda felt like the same thing with most stages of evolution, the ripped sprites and sounds really subtracted from the game too, but overall it was fine.

Pasazh by harusame 2012-09-04T14:32:00

Really great spriting. The music though, got rather irritating fast. The gameplay itself was decent, a working rpg in the time is always somewhat impressive...
The 3 hit death except for rare 1-health restoring hearts made it rather tiring and unnecessarily difficult, and every area felt pretty much the same which really brought down the atmosphere of it too.

Block Shoot by KhaoTom 2012-09-01T11:48:00

Good central idea, but not very apparent in actual gameplay. Sound gets irritating... Gameplay wise it's fun, graphically fine too.

Pinbology by quill18 2012-08-27T15:31:00

Well. It's a pretty sturdy and standard pinball game.
I was on the stream a fair while and saw a lot of in dev, was fun to watch while eating etc., but I was too busy with my own entry to really try it before now.

Anyway I don't know if its my bad luck or not but I had some bad experiences. First of all, a few times the ball went *through* the flipper, and woop, that ball gone. Which was something of an annoyance.

And, another weird thing happened, defying all probability: http://i.imgur.com/M09Tw.png - the ball balanced perfectly here, and physically stopped.

Super Charles Darwin by gnx 2012-09-01T11:55:00

Definitely influenced by contra. Hilarious idea and also fun for a while, but as a 1-hit-kill shooter it can get rather difficult. Overall great, mainly for its humour, but that won't affect my rating of graphics/sound which were both very much mediocre.

Evolvin Gen by Drabiter 2012-09-02T11:23:00

Likewise with 100%, the game crashed. Mildly amusing but doesn't really have much to it. Also the intro being skippable would've been nice.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

NSA's Where's Snowden? by Will Edwards 2013-08-27T09:37:00

Oh my god this is amazing. Glad you made this even though the theme wasn't surveillance in the end.

Ten Second Trip by netgrind 2013-08-26T11:34:00

Not a game, but damn that was trippy. A lot of pretty cool effects in here.

SMS Racing by hlink 2013-08-26T18:18:00

Absolute genius. I totally love the concept.

Bat Massacre by ItsSacraficed 2013-09-07T22:51:00

Do you know how damn hard this is with a touchpad? >_<
Anyway, hooked up a mouse and tried this proper.

It's pretty fun, it could have done with more variety of powerups to keep interest for longer.

MOONTRIP by chocobyte 2013-09-07T22:44:00

Looked great but unfortunately I couldn't get it to work, even on chrome. Hell I even tried it with a canary build of chrome, and it didn't even load.

I got it to load once but no controls were responding and switching tab permanently froze it.

Midlands Noire by Ysty 2013-08-26T11:37:00

Great atmosphere and dialogue, pretty engaging.

Jump! by Monofraps 2013-08-26T10:00:00

Fairly solid physics engine, reasonably fun. Only major complaints would be that the (powerup?) actually makes the game more difficult, and that it's a little too easy to reach the end of a level before time runs out.

Rick Rodo's Rival Restaurant Rush by TeamQuadratic 2013-08-26T10:33:00

It has a nice idea, and nice artwork but the gameplay had a lot of problems: combat felt like it was just about mashing spacebar in a pattern, no skill or strategy involved. Spoon tossing from guys right in front of you, or when you're in a fight at all, was an annoyance.

Artwork and music were pretty decent, voice acting was an added bonus too, but gameplay is where it suffers IMO.

Text-Only Counterstrike by Crynix 2013-08-26T10:18:00

Beautiful. Just beautiful. So much depth, so much meaning, so much everything. A++ WOULD DIE IN AGAIN.

Taen Saeck by Typedeaf 2013-08-29T10:10:00

So very, very addicting. A bit too slow paced though.
Love the background art and the music works well even after a few hours in this game.

Red Or Blue ? by leo_gri 2013-08-31T18:19:00

Very challenging game, some of the puzzle texts I could barely read through in the time, nevermind solve...

Great idea though, and I love it :D

Wrath of God by Bernhard 2013-08-26T11:03:00

Pretty damn fun and addicting game overall. Great sound effects, artwork and a pretty damn well polished overall, awesome job :D

Would've been nice to have a reference for the mouse gestures, but I suppose figuring them out is nice too. Meteor was a bit overpowered and easy to spam <_<

Its always red by Szedouu 2013-08-26T10:21:00

This is just trial and error pretty much? Not much going on in this game really :/

Mishlike by MidCry 2013-08-27T08:54:00

Loving the concept behind this. Hard to resist going all out in killing every monster you see, but that seems to be a prime way to lose all your time.

Lack of keyboard movement was rather annoying but other than that minor setback, really nice work :D

Spark by fullmontis 2013-08-26T10:10:00

Nice atmosphere: the heartbeat and darkening after 10 seconds work well. The movement is rather slippery though, which is aggravating. Pretty good overall though.

Leveling on borrowed time by Xatulu 2013-08-26T11:17:00

Really catchy music, and pretty fun. A little glitchy and a bit too easy to grind, but those can be overlooked for a 2 day game. Overall pretty great :D

Ten Thousand Milliseconds to Live! by ThirteenWB 2013-08-26T15:11:00

Fun game, and the music worked (though I had no idea what I was listening to). Really slick menu/interface.

10 Second Hero by Diogo Muller 2013-08-26T11:23:00

Hehe, pretty amusing and short little levels. Reminds me of Superman 64 (but not in a bad way, I promise).

Music works well, graphical style fits with the kind of game it is. Overall a nice little entry.

Emergency Stop by agrdev 2013-08-27T08:43:00

Haha... pretty amusing entry. Awesome work :D

10 Second Skafgatch by VeloSpectre 2013-09-07T22:40:00

Really great artwork :D
Gameplay got dull pretty quickly though..

Delayed by Jordo76 2013-08-27T09:14:00

Really love the idea and execution behind this. For the early levels, 10 seconds was quite a long time to wait but once you got further into the game it really was a nice mechanic.

Time Factory Escape by sxaktosxafo 2013-08-26T10:52:00

Nice ideas in here. It kinda feels like this game was more for "death is useful" than for 10 seconds, but that's not a big deal.

Notiempo by TeamWithoutLegs 2013-08-30T09:59:00

Would've liked to make a full judgement but nobody was on the server :/
Loved the graphical style and music though.

Maze of Torment by shard123 2013-08-31T18:28:00

Difficulty was rather all over the place. Good job nonetheless

Eggplants Stalk the Night by Nanolotl 2013-08-26T11:29:00

Okay, that was pretty hilarious. Bit too luck based, never managed to get the flower to fully grow, but it was still pretty amusing.

ESC: The Game, the Experience by Spaceoff 2013-08-26T10:50:00

@Ludipe - because the asset compiler glitched the fuck out with texture placement, countless times. There's a reason I only released a Web version.

ESC: The Game, the Experience by Spaceoff 2013-08-31T17:53:00

Thanks everyone for the reassurance and feedback :D

Also: fullmontis, after LD is over I tend to not want to do anything with the game I've just made for at least a few weeks, if ever. I consider it a done game once I've pressed submit.

The Cave Of Lights by galman 2013-08-29T08:24:00

That was pretty neat. Loved the art style and atmosphere, and that quiet little track never got old.

LD28 — You Only Get One

Atop A Dark Mountain by Maple 2013-12-17T12:57:00

Those audio clips were just as weird and amusing as you implied. Awesome pixel art... pretty polished gameplay too. Awesome job :D

And the critics agree:

37/40 "It vaguely resembles an RPG, so it's breathtaking" -Famitsu
9/10 "Was kinda shit" -IGN
10/10 "Best non-console game of all time" -Some 10yr old console faboy who's never played a PC game before now

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Down by SonnyBone 2014-05-03T14:06:00

The artwork and mood in this game was awesome. Music really fit the mood, too. Rather lacking in challenge, but by the end of it that didn't matter. [not putting spoilers here]

Sinking Feeling by Gwinnell 2014-04-29T23:24:00

Same here, account suspended. Use dropbox or hostr or something - some web hosts don't appreciate actual traffic >_>.

GroundBreaker by Figglewatts 2014-05-03T12:02:00

That was absolutely brilliant! Seriously addicting, loving the artwork, and the music loop fits really well too.

The Core Eaters by porglezomp 2014-04-29T23:33:00

Loved the atmosphere in this, damn- the music really sets it. Took me ages to realize the "Start" text was clickable though, way longer than it should have >_<

Also, same problem as Jeffalisk here with the web version.

Stories of Moles: Holy Crap Edition by Muciojad 2014-05-01T10:01:00

Very difficult at times to not get hit, but a pretty neat mechanic. The second chapter was hard to get score in, hard to aim the force, or something.

Amongst the Sand & Spice by ghostmaple 2014-04-29T23:22:00

Neat mechanic once you get used to it... it's a little hard to focus on both screens though. Pretty cool overall.

Also.. no audio?

The drill thrill by d_0o_d 2014-05-03T11:19:00

This was actually really fun. I was addicted enough that I had to get everything :D

The window was a bit too tall for my laptop screen res (1366x768) leaving the text at the end after the boss cropped out, but oh well.

Tic-Tac-BOOM by ttfreire 2014-05-03T12:12:00

Was somewhat difficult to follow the mechanics of this, unfortunately, since it seemed like an interesting spin on things.

Project Nether by TheOZone 2014-05-03T10:37:00

Love the concept, collecting the fuel and gems was pretty satisfying too. The magma really forced you to slow down though, slowing the pace of the game.

Also, the input ignored bug occured to me the first time I ran it, seems to do with unfocusing the window, it ignores input after that.

800bar by rnlf 2014-05-01T09:45:00

Loved the lighting and water effects, movement felt smooth other than collisions.

DrillfisT by Ret44 2014-05-03T12:27:00

Oddly, once I entered the next level, the framerate dropped to the point where it was immediately unplayable.

Lavarena by CrackedP0t 2014-04-29T23:08:00

Decently challenging... got me trying it a few times.
Was there supposed to be any audio? didn't hear any

I Rarely Go Outside by Blokatt 2014-05-01T10:36:00

Really enjoyed this- the menial tasks were surprisingly engaging, kept me playing til the end.

Under by Wumbo 2014-04-29T18:38:00

Tried to run the .jar at the bottom of the page (you should put it at the top...)..
No luck, it won't open a window (using Windows). It just terminates silently in the background a second or 2 after opening.

Deepsea Frenzy by kong-chuen 2014-05-01T09:24:00

Pretty fun, surprisingly challenging too.

Whodunnit?! by gettothechapel 2014-04-29T18:42:00

You should put it in a .zip, I'm not going through and manually downloading each file one at a time (for public view, google drive doesn't let you download all the files in the linked folder I guess).

Whodunnit?! by gettothechapel 2014-05-01T10:15:00

Yeah, there wasn't a .zip when I last tried, anyway:

This was really eerie, really good atmosphere. I'm guessing you aren't ever able to figure out who did it? that ending was pretty chilling.

Yellow Submarine Treasure Hunt by Danvil 2014-04-29T23:17:00

This was actually pretty awesome, loved the atmosphere in this, and the game was simple but still pretty addicting.

Could've done with a music track though

gnome fortress by blubberquark 2014-05-01T09:38:00

It's a cool little engine and crafting system you have. The game does kinda lack a goal/purpose though: you can get to diamonds pretty easily, which I'm guessing are for more durable tools, minecraft style- but you can't really build anything, just seems pure mining.
