Both versions crash for me. I can't really say why. I'm using a 64 bit computer.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD24 → Evolution RPG

I liked this quite a bit, reminds me of a lot of things I've made in the past.
Unfortunately I got an error when I picked up the 4th evolution:
main.lua:487: attempt to perform arithmetic on field '?' (a nil value)
main.lua:487 : in function 'draw'
[C]: in function 'xpcall'
Thanks for the feedback guys! I've changed it to a .love file in the hopes that it will run on most computers, can anyone let me know if it doesn't, I'm not doing too well distributing here :(
Also fixed (hopefully) the error when picking the 4th evolution.
Thanks guys :)
This was actually surprisingly alright as a grindquest rpg. It kept me going all the way until I was level 6, with 3 evolutions, when enemies had become irritatingly scarce and all you could do was go down, and down, and down.
Felt more like an rpg than most "RPG" LD entries I've played. Of course the sprites really subtract from it, although the main character is still funny.
A lack of music and only the most basic sfx makes sound almost a non-factor in this.
I realy enjoyed plaing that game. Graphics don't seem to be so bad. ;)
I really like this!
It seems like it might just be a little too long, though. I put it down at level five when I picked up the fourth evolution. Before that, I chose gills, then claws, then couldn't choose thumbs so chose spike thrower, then I still couldn't choose thumbs so nothing else was available :(.
I dno about everyone else but i still couldn't pick the 4th evolution. The game itself was pretty fun to play. I think there was definately a need to spawn enemies instead of just sticking with what's on the starting map. There was a severe lack of Fighting and too much holding one button for 5 minutes. Overall i had fun to the point where the 4th evolution bug prevented me from going further.
Really liked this. The world seems to be huge, a minimap would have been cool.
Hunting down and applying new evolutions was very rewarding. I sooo wanted to know what I could do with all the wood, but the game crashed before I could get to the 4th evolution :(
Kept me playing for a while, good job ;)
Yeah, I didn't get time for sound or music unfortunately, something to work on for next year! Thanks for all the feedback! I hope I may have fixed the 4th evolution now (it was actually enabled, oops) so fingers crossed it all works fine now! Thanks again! :)
Your programmer art is better than my programmer art, so don't feel bad about that. Also, I wish there were more enemies to murder.
The majority of my time was spent walking, which is not as much fun to do as in DayZ.
Don't enjoyed playing it. It definitely needs music, better graphics and a better AI (make them attack or flee when they get attacked).
