Quite cool, albeit a bit too difficult for my tastes. Retrying constantly due to high difficuty rooms in a game with less than perfect controls is not fun. If the controls WERE perfect, or at least really polished, such as in Super Meat Boy, the player will blame him/herself rather than the game. In the game though, that was not the case, as I felt the controls were killing me, and not my lack of skill. I would suggest lowering the difficulty a bit, or at least provoding checkpoints in the harder rooms.

Yeah I agree with it might be too annoying in some spots, but the game's so short that hopefully it's not a huge deal.

Great! Difficult - like TMNT 1 difficult - but fantastic! I like what you did with the crescendo-evolving music as well.

I have difficult to see green/red sometimes. So the bullets on some levels where very hard to see.

timtipgames 2012-08-28 08:15

I have to agree with the difficulty. I didnt make it past stage 4 where I was managing to pass the loose platforms but kept dying from gunfire at the end of the room. I gave up at some point because the music really started to get on my nerves (mainly because it restarts whenever you die, which happened a lot to me). If it kept playing it might have be different. Concerning the game: I like how you took the evolution theme into account. the presentation of improvements of your development process is clearly visible and a nice idea. I do not agree that much that the controls were so bad - of cours not perfect and far from super meat boy, but they worked for me. All together: good job, especially if you learned the tools from scratch.

At first I was like "wow this realy sucks", But then I started to realy enjoy it!

khananaphone 2012-08-28 08:59

Yeah the music got really annoying to me too, but I didn't want to waste time fixing it. I tried making the music get "sarcastically complicated and annoying" over time but it really backfired during testing...

Cool! I did a not-to-dissimilar thing with my game, where it's the game that evolves as you go on. I think both our games get a little too hard as it goes on, I can't get past the series of falling platforms. I love the surprise I got when I went from thinking, "this game sucks" to "I want to see how far this thing gets!"

fun little game

seconddimension 2012-08-28 17:59

I was really enjoying it until it got too hard, felt like I was fighting the controls a bit. Still I like the way the graphics and challenged evolved, and that it evolved with you learning the platform.

Nice game. Second one I've seen to use the "evolving game" idea. An admirable effort in MS Paint :P , but it didn't detract from the game, which I don't think was too hard to play.

spelchan 2012-08-29 20:18

Very clever use of the evolution theme. Some parts of the game a bit too difficult for my tastes.

puzzlem00n 2012-08-31 19:24

Brilliance! I love it! My game evolves as well, but in mechanics, not in graphics. To be honest, while the game itself is okay, what makes it even better is the story behind its development! Some of the things you've done here not even I have, such as run cycles and moving platforms, so I must say you've done fantastic!

spaceoff 2012-09-03 10:26

It was good, fun at first, and "evolves" seamlessly. But it felt very unrefined- the end for one, looked slopped together. The jumping (it triggers if up is held, not just when first pressed, causing unintentional jumps on ledges when only trying to jump the max height), the difficulty of the last level (those platforms fall too fast, the first obstacle was poorly timed).

The audio was okay but got repetitive, and it didn't loop unless you die/move on (found out by accident).

Graphics were a bit weird at the menu but decent after that.

Overall though its fun, and fairly well executed.

Good game but too hard for me at level 4 i wanted to smash my screen with my keyboard.

However, evolution of the game is nice for both the graphics and for uploading game mechanics.

I would like to be able to finish the game to see how look like the last level.

mohammad 2012-09-07 22:55

I liked it!

pacifistgames 2012-09-08 07:06

I really enjoyed it, especially the last part with the turrets and the moving platform, very clever!

My only real complaint is that the platforming physics are a little wonky...

ripx 2012-09-11 11:56

Very difficult, bugs and lackluster graphics but the evolution theme was there and given a bit of time it grew on me.
