Hey this is very well done, feels like a classic.

Yeah, surprising clean and functioning.
Not much to say, but good job.

adventureloop 2012-08-27 18:18

This game stole my heart with its isometric graphics.
Probably one of the most finished and enjoyable games I have played so far.

A bit slow paced for my taste, but fun, great game mechanic, really slick graphic style, music works decently enough, sounds are fine. There are a few minor depth glitches from place to place, and a few collision glitches but no big deal.

Doesn't seem to run on my computer Windows 7 64bit.

minism 2012-08-27 19:15

@Will Xyen - Thanks for feedback. I just uploaded a 64 bit version for windows.

Well done. Loved the graphics style and gameplay.

Wow! Excellent game! Ending was a little disappointing for all that gameplay, but the game was entertaining all the way through! I really liked your use of the theme--the upgrade system was a refreshing change from the traditional "xp for stats" trope, and it even made sense with the story.

On Ubuntu I got a blue screen and an error, apparently this is because I was running an old version of Love (the one you get when you run sudo apt-get install love). Updating it to the latest version fixed the problem.

This game is remarkably complete - it's very tightly designed, the mechanics work, and the game is enticing. Graphics are great, controls are tight, sound is good - this is an exceptional entry into this competition! My only complaint is more mechanical - I'd much prefer arrow keys over i,j,k,l for shooting, but it's not a huge deal. Also the enemies would sometimes get stuck inside walls, and I'd have to punch them to death through the walls, which isn't the end of the world.

Awesome!

very nice, graphics reminded me of xcom
but the movement and attack keys should have defaulted to follow the angled tiles instead of straight to the sides

Wow! Aside from some frustrations with the guards getting stuck in walls, this was flawless! I had the same problem with my game -- audio problems on OS X, although my problems were due to a poor choice of sample rate conversion algorithm which only affected OS X users.

I was a bit unlucky, I ended up with poor speed for most of the game, which made progress a little slow. Once I got the blaster, I realized that speed let me dodge the guard's shots more easily.

This was excellent. I loved the style, hit boxes were a strange at times, and it seemed a little slow. Although a lot of games have been.
I'd ask for a post compo version, but all that would be is some minor bug fixes ;)

This is a really great game. Can't go too wrong with an isometric 2-stick shooter but this is really superbly executed - except for when the ginger guys sometimes get stuck in the walls :)

therealjefe 2012-09-11 19:14

Damn fine job!

josh-dreamland 2012-09-11 19:45

Pretty great. Good graphics, good audio; sets the mood well. Great length for a Ludum Dare game, and it doesn't get boring, which is the neat part. Engine's solid, and the collisions are great. Can't say that for a whole lot of games this competition.

demonpants 2012-09-11 19:54

Wonderful, my favorite so far. Excellent work.

YEAH! Music like the old X-COM Terror from the deep. It fits the game and it doesn't get annoying after playing for an hour (the longest I have played an LD game so far). Old school graphics.
It feels very like a finished product (except maybe from the enemies getting stuck). For some maybe too easy, but for me just right. Dieing isn't punished too hard so you are still feeling you can progress. Evolution not just a story, but also part of the gameplay. Good gameplay, good level design. One of the winners for me.
I just have one wish: to actually see the people I have freed, and maybe more of an ending.

Nice retro-style game. I think it's a good beginning, but the gameplay maybe needs to be a bit more varied and/or challenging. It was fairly easy, and felt a little bit dull at times. I liked the use of the theme though. I found the firing controls made aiming quite difficult. Sometimes the armed NPCs, in their eagerness to chase me, got themselves stuck in a wall. Slightly disappointing ending too ("Congratulations!", exit). I like the retro graphics, and the sound worked fine for me and was really effective.

nice game - graphic updating is a bit slow for my taste - but overall really nice style.
