Disco? Very! by Tom 7 2010-12-21T06:57:00
Good metroidvania! Nice take on the theme. But the gameplay still sort of matched in a way.

Good metroidvania! Nice take on the theme. But the gameplay still sort of matched in a way.
Nice, had fun. It got a bit hard to tell what was going on at the more complex dance sequences. Good fun overall.
Good use of theme. Unique controls that where fun! I've not encountered something like that before! Good job!
Very fun!
Erm, am I supposed to fall off the first few tiles after jumping too many times? Bug?
The blob's nom made me smile more then a few times. Heh.
Very unique take I guess. A little frustating after not knowing what to do the first time. Still a little fun. Nice work!
Really fun, nicely built platformer. Nice take on theme. You evolve to slowly I think but fun. ^^
Controls could use a little rework. Got all the way up to fish birds and trees. Nice mood.
Nice mood. Good graphics. I had fun but it was a little confusing at what to do at times. Otherwise, very nice!
Okay, my ears hurt a little after the music started and Iwas afraid it wasn't going to change. It thankfully did. Other than that. Nice, fun, good controls, good platformer. (not sure how this fits the theme but okay I'll roll with it)
Um, what am I supposed to do again? What's going on? Maybe I just don't get it.
Urgh. Quit at the yellow fish stage. You'd get just enough, then bam, you'd get mobbed. At the first stage I saw the other critters moving freely and thought, are my other keys broken? Oh, no that tiny little help icon down there has only one key lit up. So I guess that's all I can use. Well that's not mis-leading. Good graphics.
Wow, what a downer ending. Still. Your right. Throwingspears is fun! I just, don't see how this fits the theme. But maybe I'm missing something?
You get the 'hey I put that idea on twitter and someone actually did it award'! Great job!
Yeah. I definitely had more in mind, and was gonna make one more, but ran out of time. Heh. I'm putting in more content sometime this week. Thanks for playing/rating!
@Rabbits: Do you mean for a level? Or the entire game? Cause at the win screen if you click you go back to the menu. I thought about an undo button, but, again, ran out of time. Thanks for playing!
@kevincorrigan I can't seem to do tutorials right for some reason. Any suggestions? Thanks for playing!
@zatyka Thanks for playing!
Thank you! I'll work on that tutorial for the next build.
Thanks for playing and the feedack guys! Yeah, I suck at making tutorials. Any suggestions on how to improve it?
Hey there! Glad you liked it! Can't do much for the graphics, but I'll definitely try and get some music in there. Thanks for playing!
Sorry for bieng confusing. Hopefully I have that fixed in an updated build. Thanks for playing!
Had fun with this one. Okay use of theme I guess. The 'evolution' seemed too much like random though.
I felt really odd at playing this game. One of the reasons was I went, oh joy, another "autoscroller". It's pretty. Neat trail effect. I think there's a guy singing but I can't hear him that well. Oh, hey the little dude lags behind my mouse way too much but I completed a level. Um, that's all there is to the game? Aw.
Really cute! Though I expected the little guys to change or something. Ah well. Can't have everything. But still, had fun, really cute. Nice.
Really hard to judge a game like this. Still though. It has some of the best music I've heard. Great job!
Very well done!
Well. I really don't like tower defense games. Cause, usually there is no win condition. Still though. This one looks nice, plays well. The only thing I found frustrating was the difficulty increase. It seemed that there wasn't enough cash to protect my crystal efficiently enough. Ended too quick. But nice otherwise.
Much too jumpy on the controls for me to find enjoyable. Plus, hitting space caused the page view to jump to the bottome of the page. And then you die. Also, maybe name the files different? They had me worried.
Erm, I get that it's supposed to be meta. And that it's a 10 second game. But the choices seemed too clustered for me to make anything out decently.
Eh. Not my thing I guess.
Not sure what to say here. I thought at first it was on a pendulum swinging back and forth. Then it didn't Was I supposed to kill the ninja? Cause I got them all to survive and yet, no score. I killed some, and no score. What was the end goal here? Is there a way to get the score? Or is that not added? Fairly confusing.
At times it felt like a quick, very very very quick Mahjong. I thought the larger pieces would've given more points but alas, they did not. Maybe consider that?
Er, what am I supposed to do again? And, wait, I can't see the numbers. Hang a second, aw crap.
Very good over all. Though I did not fiinish. Got a little too frustrating after a few levels. Nice presentation, not too bad.
Pretty graphics. Nice sound track. Very dark story. Except I don't see the theme connection in a 10 second countdown to start. I half expect the stage to peel away behind you and you couldn't go back. Maybe it did and I missed it. But still, I think you may have been able to re-think the theme use a bit.
Did not have much fun. I honestly didn't like the random enemy spawn. I'd collect a scroll, then hit an enemy, and think I died, cause I collected the scroll. Also, the levels seemed much to samey. And I could jump my way out of a level. Not much fun.
Could not figure out how to start the game and just hit space to see if it would work. Then everything began to happen much, much, much too quickly and not too much fun.
Great control scheme!
Great puzzler! The more wires there are, the harder it is to tell which one connects to the c4. I understand that might have been for "difficulty" but when things look the same it's kind of a mess. Still neat though!
Great atmosphere! Nice touch on the monsters coming out of the monster. Still nice!
Great little idea! Really neat!
Perhaps just a wee bit too difficult. Sudden death on next level start unfun and sudden cause of stat drop.
Ow that awful countdown music. Ick! Shame about the screen size bug too. Graphics aren't too bad. Really glad it was one level. I don't know if I could've taken any more.
Um. What the hey is this? A better explanation of the controls would be helpful.
Controls were just a little slippery but I got used to them. Not bad!
The premise seemed a little impossible after the first couple tries. Clean the whole room in ten seconds. Especially with some sections of the room being blocked off. Also the movement was rather glitchy. The one sound that was in there heart my brain. Wished I could have turned it off. Icky sound, glitchy game play, none too good I'm afraid.
Sorry about the text! I have added the instructions in profile.
@Zuige Maybe. Any ideas on making it more difficult?
@andwhatnot Whatever you like! It's your retirement!
Thanks to those who've rated so far!
@Zap Very sorry about the text. I thought it was a good choice at the time.
@Lianne Booton Sadly, no they do not. Thanks for playing!
Interesting. A bit too glitchy on the movement though.
Not a fan of the blood and gore. Music was fantastic. Very good on the mood. Well done!
A little slimplistic on the choices. But not too bad.
At quick glance I had no idea what was going on. I pass by the door and it doesn't open. Pass it again, nothing. Oops! Time ran out your dead! Me: What?
Well. The throwback is difficult to grasp. When do I throw it? The farthest I went was 2 something. In most gliding games like these, I expected to control my craft in flight. It was not welcome when I discovered I could not. So I kept pushing on and on and on until I gave up. Maybe this is a little bit over my head but I am done with this one.
Not too bad. Seemed the difficulty could have been toned just a bit down though. Just a little sound couldn't have hurt, being a jam game. Attacking seemed a bit off sometimes. It would take me only 1 or 2 hits to kill a skeleton or a worm, and then the next skeleton or worm would kill me. Still not too bad!
Wow. Just wow.
Not bad. Nice use of a red herring. Even though I'm fairly certain the timer bugged out a number of times though. Nice twist ending.
Very interesting and well put together concept! Although I was a tad confused at first at how the buttons worked, I eventually got it. Nice job!
Not sure if it completely matched the theme or not. But nice take on it any way. Still an in game reset would have been nice. Not bad.
The controls were a bit slippy for me so I quit.
Brilliant sir. Simply brilliant.
The hell did you make something creepy and why did I play this before bed! Still though, lost a couple points on original story there. Should have seen the ending coming. Was disappointing when it did happen. Despite the cliche', very neat atmosphere!
Pretty graphics. Although it may have ran too slow for me. That, after paying attention to the instructions, it felt like I had no idea what I was doing.
Lost patience after the levels got a bit long. I did not like it when some of the blocks changed on me and I didn't know they'd change. Especially after you taught me that these color blocks change and these color blocks don't. Might play again later. Neat effect though!
Neat idea. Could use a little sound. You'll probably make some people upset though.
No way to understand what was going on at first. Barely read the instructions before I lost for some reason. No in game reset means I have to refresh the page. Text is a little too thin to see it clearly quickly. Hangman out of the way in a corner makes it difficult to keep track of. Not fun.
I used the mouse to grow my horn. A little odd that that part wasn't timed like the second.
Very good. Although the color blind may not like it much. Consider adding shapes or patters or icons to the squares. They were a bit difficult to single out. Plus some of the color choices were harsh on the eyes. Great concept though!
The soft kitty room was really cheap. Not fun ending. :/ The only surprise I had was at the start room But that was it.
Very clever. Felt like FTL for just a little. Would be nice to clean up the poo. I thought the fire extenguisher could do that, but alas it slowed me down instead. Very neat idea!
Pretty! Wish there was some sound or something though. Great idea!
Bad controls! The square got stuck too many times to be fun. Expected different kinds of gameplay, got one. Not fun!
Herm. Not much to say.
Very glitchy movement. I dared not get stuck on the walls for fear if I did, I'd not get off again! Luckily I did when I did. A bit more effort could have been put into this.
Very impressed with the darkness effect here. Movement could've been just a little faster though. I also only noticed at the end that only the little whisps had to catch the trees to get them to burn, and not me having to touch them myself. Which helped me get past the last level. Nice done!
Just a little too short to be honest. Music got annoying after a while though. Not bad!
Very cute and well made! Well done!
Much too slow paced for me. Nailed the atmosphere though.
Okay, I tried several times and could not for any amount attach the tow cable to the asteroid. Also I tried to look in it's direction and ow my eyes! This also has one of the most difficult control schemes of any ludum dare game I have yet to play. Very pretty, but fairly buggy.
Very cool! A little glitchy between the win and loss conditions. But otherwise very solid. Could make a great turn based multiplayer game too.
I don't think you give yourself enough credit when you say 'I don't think it fits the theme well'. While it's not explained, it becomes readily apparent that you only get to pick one color. Some sort of undo would've been nice, but, meh. Very nice. Good minimilistic game!
Very clean. I was fairly confused with the cat in the houses puzzle cause that went too fast. Otherwise, nice puzzle game!
Okay. That made me chuckle a little. Well done!
Hopefully it won't be taken the wrong way. I tried to word it so that to continue, the player had to recognize a fault within themselves. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to finish the game.
Thanks for playing and rating everyone! I've put the link to the tutorial up as requested. Now make some twine games!
After a few play throughs of dying and randomly running into other customers, I'm done. Moves too quickly and leaves much to be desired.
*slaps your wrists with a metal ruler*
And let THAT teach you not to make a mouse aiming based game without WASD movement. Ow my wrist. Neat idea. A little stretching of theme. And at first I didn't think there was an ending because I kept dying. This feels like it could be explored further though.
Very cool!
Very nice. A little confused how it worked with the theme until I tried to mine more then one ore. Coulda told me about that though. Nice idea!
Other then the aiming being off by a bit it felt really neat!
Really hard to rate this one. Graphics are pleasing overall. Beginning tune is rather annoying to be honest. Would have been nice to have a reset other then refreshing the page. Also, fan game? Why? Not being mean, just being honest. Also, rather confused what to do since there's no in game instructions.
Pretty decent overall. You don't see too many top downs like these. Or at least I don't.
Well, this was certainly atmospheric. Well played sir. Well played.
This was great! Though I would not eat at this place. Not at all.
Utterly brilliant and utterly difficult at the same time. Shot after shot it seemed like you switched up the controls on me. Like left was right and right was left. Also while you eventually got it, a little more distinction to help what was breakable and what was bounceable would be nice. Very neat idea!
Kinda almost too poetic. Otherwise nicely done!
Very clean style of a game of it's type. Well done!
The controls were a bit off for me for some reason. And it moved too quickly for me. But maybe I'm just slow? Could have made do with some sound effects. But maybe that's just me. Neat idea.
Could have used sounds when collecting the gold squares. Neat idea overall!
Very neat concept! Zoom was a little slow and an "ending" would have been nice though.
Very good use of the theme. (yes, you can manage to kill enemies with the hammer, you just have to be lucky or time it right)
Brilliant!
Wish I could have experienced more but the mouse kept thinking I wanted to auto scroll the web page so I kept drowning. I'm sure it's a neat experience, but I guess I'm not able to get it.
6 hours?! Really? VERY NICE!
Simple, short, and a little lifeless. But I'm STILL impressed by that lighting effect you got. Nicely done overall!
Very very nicely done!
Overall very very busy on the screen. The clouds moving by was a nice effect, but not so much when I can't seem to find a clear distinction between what I'm supposed to avoid, sea gulls, and clouds. More then once I thought I was doing okay but then I hit something cause I lost track of the player and couldn't really tell what was going on here.
This is great!
Not amused.
Even with the bug of 'i need to get closer' when I'm standing right on top of the guy on the toilet having talked to everyone and not being able to accuse the person bug it's a nice game.
Odd. I get a picture of a volcano and nothing more? Using firefox if that helps but it's sad cause this looks neat!
Well done. Fairly difficult, but well done!
It's a nice little game. I couldn't see the gui very well so I had little idea of what was going on.
Very nice jam game sir!
A little in game context of why the worm couldn't leave the area it's in couldn't hurt. As well as something how it fits in the theme would be helpful.
Good idea! The controls snagged on me a little but I was able to recover and keep playing. Not bad!
OW MY FINGERS! OW! But really I had fun so it's okay. :)
Of course, I'm an idiot and forgot to post the source. Source is here: http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/7b785e727551cc615fe30351d339666c
Can that be fixed I forget?
And of course back up web link in case newgrounds REALLY hates it: http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/94f471a52f524bd0adc4d8dd0ca5c081
The monster is actually in 3 different places. Try going just straight ahead. Would've been nice to add different graphics but, time got away.
@Hempuli Glad you like it thanks for playing! I'm using Bitdefender as an antivirus. It's a shame it's blocked for some reason, it looks rather fun!
@Hempuli Your welcome!
Really nice game but a little confused as to what the actual mechanics were. Played with it a little and slowly got to start playing. A bit short though. Well done!
Okay. I had fun, a bit irritated at the impossibility of some of the pillars, but this is somewhat adorable and I still had fun. Nicely done.
Glitch: Left arrow key movement is awful. Plus, you can get the cup when it doesn't appear. Neat idea though.
I jump and I fly uncontrollably off the side of the screen?
Played again. STILL no idea what I'm supposed to do. SEVERAL down points for the suicide.
Very nicely done! Would like to see more!
VERY pretty!
Not too bad. A wider play area would have been nicer.
Okay, now THAT is something you don't see very often. Neat reveal mechanic!
What the...XD But, but I didn't catch all the, oh who cares! Great little game!
Okay, wow. I see what you're going for here but it gets too difficult much too fast. Very nice idea!
This is, quite probably one of the most awful glitchiest platformers I've ever played. Great atmospheric sound though.
If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. The only nice thing about this game is the fluid animation. Well done on that.
It's hard to be so harsh on such a very pretty and pretty sounding game, but, it got really frustrating. That has to do with the awful random aspect of it. There'd be too many jellies in a tight corner, or a bubble would be too close to the edge. Still, very pretty!
A little bit more control would be nice but it's still not to bad/
Granted, I had fun. Well done!
Nice game! Stretching theme use just a bit to me any ways.
Much better then the first 'Ben' game I played. Nice guitar sound track!
The randomness seemed to jumpy to me. Neat idea, could use a bit more work if you decide to do more with it.
Nothing too great here. The movement was bad and the aiming seemed rather off. And I was going through and hit something and died but it wasn't apparent what I hit.
Nice implementation of a classic!
You've got some background tearing issues, some animation issues, and that sound is awful. Still made me smile though. Not bad!
Got stuck in between the trash can and the TV. Not interested in playing again.
Did not have that much fun. Randomly died a few times without knowing exactly why. Even got stuck past the screen edge. I'm sure it could be fun.I'm just not liking the way it controls.
Wow this is great!
Not that great but I had fun I think.
You nailed the mood. Bashing the nails in the coffin nailed it. It either was slow, or felt rather slow. Which did not feel good to play. Coupled with the fact that I don't like creepy games, I won't be playing it again to find a different ending. But that mood? NAILED it completely.
Frustrating and buggy. Found a glitch where the player split apart really. Not my kinda game I guess.
I wanted to have fun and keep playing, but the controls kept getting in the way and the vagueness of the arms didn't help either. Good theme implementation though.
Well done overall but very difficult due to collision. Love the art style though!
Kinda hard to tell how your doing with no on screen indication of health. Not bad otherwise.
The controls felt really clunky to me. WASD would've been nice. But neat idea!
Thanks for playing folk!
@01010111 Yeah, nothing much I can do there sadly. But I figured it's okay since it's not an action based type game.
Thank you all for playing!
Neat avoider take on the idea!
Good simple fun! Cool idea!
A little difficult to understand at first but very neat idea!
Nicely done! Running felt a little iffy at times but not so much so as the speed was necessary. Good idea!
That annoying intro sound effects though. Still, not bad! A little difficult at first cause I didn't think about how it'd work at first then got the hang of it.
Played this on Newgrounds. Could not get past the 3rd level I think cause of the closeness of an obstacle. However, this was VERY well done! Excellent job!
*applauds* Well done. Very very real. Came in expecting exactly what I got. A little long though and could've used a bit more ways to get inspiration. Still, solid, solid game!
Thank you all for the comments so far! I'm just glad that you don't utterly hate it! ^^
Heh, okay this was great! ^^
Great minimalist RTS idea!
A bit pie in the sky for the game prices. ;)
Still, not a bad clicker!
Not too bad really!
Nice and quiet arena game! Nice and quiet. Still, not bad! Had fun!
Very nicely done artwork!
Herm, what to say? Could've used a bit more work to differentiate from the other arena shooters regardless of the pet aesthetic. At least the animation was there, which is nice.
Quite simple. Occasionally a present would drop half in and half out of the screen but that's my only bug complaint.
Kinda nice. But I half expected to do a little bit more. Like click to plop down the monster. Or the timer would go faster. Still, not bad!
Seems rather impossible to lose though.
Great little game! Only complaints was that the controls seems a bit floaty which threw me off as it got harder. Not bad though!
Music was a bit low so I couldn't really hear it that well without turning the volume way up. Still, nice and simple, and nice pixel art! Nice job!
Not my favorite control scheme by a long shot. Great sound though. Would've been nice to be able to block arrows and the spinning guys were a pain. Not bad though. Not bad.
Nifty idea. Controls left a lot to be desired though. Nice audio though!
A little confusing as to what to do at first but not bad otherwise.
Simplistic but fun!
Not bad. A tiny bit inaccurate but not bad.
Neat take on the idea. Nice music! Thought that when an enemy tried to freeze me that it was a glitch, not too bad though.
Well. Not bad for being incomplete. A bit difficult though. Killed by severe randomness a few times. Interesting idea though!
Very nice platformer with a good mechanic! Only complaint was that the lamp return time was a tad slow for me. Nicely done!
I had no idea what I was doing at first and had to restart. I had no idea if I was getting hurt or not. A bit too incomplete to be enjoyable.
Slick visuals and music. Was a little confused at first as to whether or not the mines were an aid or hindrance. Figured out quick though. Neat idea. Could use more tweaking like you said.
Very fine game. Very fine!
Very well done. Very well done.
Not bad really. Thought an enemy would count as dead after I took a weapon, but it didn't. Aiming seemed a tad off. But really not bad.
A bit hard to beat this game for me. Still can't fault it for being adorable.
Oh good. Someone made my first idea so I don't have to. Nicely done!
I get the point of the "game". But I really couldn't finish it due to it's blatant randomness.
Got tired of clicking after a while. Neat concept!
Cute characters. Ai a little smart maybe. Ran a little slow for me. Otherwise, really nice game!
Killed it with the audio! Good fun overall!
One bad thing I can say is that the restart button wasn't that noticeable. Not bad though.
Can't fault it for the controls. They needed a bit more tweaking in my opinion. But eh, what you gonna do in the time you got?
Well, hard to say. Nothing really wrong with it though. A tad loud. But that's it.
Maybe I'm a stickler for controls, but eh. Not bad!
Great animations! After dying at the boss and then having to go through the last level again, I really didn't want to. Great idea though and the animation was mostly spot on!
Thanks y'all!
The unique control took me by surprise.
Loved the idea!
A little hectic along with some am I even doing this right? Still. This is absolutely FANTASTIC!
Hitting that soundtrack good there! After a bit I gave up being precise due to tired fingers and just rapid hit the buttons which got the same results. Still fun though!
Found a bug where you were too big for the tiles in level 13 so I was unable to finish. However. This is a cute little game!
This is infuriatingly difficult until you figure the upgrade system. Even then it's hard! Great job!
@Echo Team That should only be dependent on the number of seeds you collected. Pots can be destroyed with 1 seed. Rocks can be destroyed with 2. The rock that traps you in the forest can't be destroyed. Sorry for the confusion.
@mockthebear The seeds are the dark green ovals. There's one in the fence corner of the farm.
Thanks y'all so far for playing!
@Geti I've since given the game it's own Itchio page: http://xhunterko.itch.io/patches-of-adventure to help find it easier. Hope it helps!
Not bad. I liked the call back to Duck Hunt! Would've been nice with sound though, ah well. Still, nice!
Good take on the theme! Controls were a little difficult to decipher but I got it eventually. Not bad!
I've not beat it yet, but I might, just not now. This is one of the more frustrating ludum dare games I've played in a while. And not because of game difficulty either. There are many frustrating bugs that I can't pin point. But there was one section where your shots disappeared. I couldn't tell if it ever equipped the main upgrades or not. The movement was inherently jagged. And I could never shoot up and to the left. For some reason. Up and right was fine, just not up and left. And as others have said, shooting down was a constant problem. I thought of making a map, but then my computer crashed. And I was relieved that I didn't have to play any more. I'll probably beat it later, but not now.
The graphics are pretty. The music melds well with the environment. The variety of enemies were welcome. The audio logs were a nice touch as well.
Please consider making a post compo version with the bugs fixed before you work on that sequel?
Cause I'd play that.
Overall: Frustrating. Would be difficult but fair if you fixed the bugs. There is some fun and a "must finish" factor though. Good entry.
One of the more enjoyable games I've played yet! Very nice atmosphere!
Two thumbs up! A bit confused at first as to what I was doing and what the icons meant but otherwise, great!
This was great fun! Really enjoyable! Would have liked rapid fire but, eh. Still good! Great music too!
I really wanna like this more. But the sticky controls prevent me from doing so. Catchy sound track though! I just can't get into it.
Really cute looking game! Others have already pointed out some problems so I won't. I must say though, at times it just felt like a dance with no real difficulty. Still, very nice!
I had a good time here! Really good fun!
This was a fun little game! Loved the cute style and the music! They really went well together! Solid fun!
Honestly this isn't bad. Fairly fun. Decent idea.
Not a bad idea though!
Thank you all for playing! Hopefully I'll get to your games before the deadline!
Thank you all for playing! Sorry for not getting to play your entries. I just did not have the motivation or desire to do so. Just getting something done in the time constraints I had was all I was thinking about. I had very little time to work due to events and other things and had a lot more planned, but I just thought of finishing something. Again, thanks for taking a look.
And thanks for playing!
Interesting idea. Simple and well put together.
