Interesting game, I was not expecting that
I wish the beanstalks were around longer! I feel like I can't climb up them in time. Otherwise pretty cool!
I find that after a few moments of playing, all the characters disappear and I'm left with only the background. Tried a couple times and keep getting the same result.
In what little time I spent with the game, I noticed that the giant feels a bit slippery to control. Normally that kind of friction/physics would work well for a platformer character, but I would expect a giant to be a little more ... lumbering. He should stop and start very definitively.
The controls are kind of a dealbreaker, sadly. There are way to slippery for me to enjoy myself. Maybe turn on some more decay?
Also, I had the same issue that NickMakesGames pointed out, makes the game hard to play
I liked climbing the beanstalks
it just wasn't that fun to actually play :\ if the physics and mechanics were better it could be a pretty fun game.
The graphics aren't bad, but it's not very fun. There's not really enough feedback on whether I'm doing the right thing or not, or what the objective of the game even is.
The beanstalks are very hard to climb.
Overall feels a bit clunky.
And yet I still love smashing Jack.

I had the same bug as NickMakesGames, most of the graphics disappear on FireFox shortly after playing. Skipping rating because of this.
DEVELOPER COMMENT : I confirmed the bug in Firefox. I think it has to do with drawing pixels to canvas that are not integers. I don't know if fixing it invalidates the submission. Will work on a fix anyway and see about posting it. Tempting to fix other bugs though and don't know if that fits the spirit of the competition
DEVELOPER COMMENT : OK, I can do bug fixes. The rules page says this: Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log). You probably wont get a 2nd chance with some players, but at least it wont be a problem for future players.
Not entirely sure whats happening (I think you mentioned the bug, I am in Firefox), but I keep instantly dying or the screen goes into some weird blurry mode, can't play beyond a few seconds. I really like the Atari/NES look though!
The art style is quite unique. The quick tree climbing mechanic is also fairly fresh. Gameplay needs more polish. I liked the game.
I like the premise, but as others have said it's a bit clunky and I'm way too slow climbing the beanstalk. Good overall though!
Pretty hard but fun. Weird graphics but a good tribute to that kind of oldies! The climb speed is pretty slow, maybe need to be faster?

DEVELOPER COMMENT: a few of bug fixes within the rules of the contest: now works in Firefox; fixed a case where a life would not be subtracted if you fell and got hurt; fixed a typo in the instructions (missing new line \n); climbing speed fixed; extended clouds to avoid bug where jack(s) would get stuck atop the beanstalk and not be able to go left or right, and could be easily killed

Really hard but fun. Awesome concept, and I liked the graphics. Those Jacks are tough to stomp, and my damn golden goose waltzed into one of the house all by itself, haha. Nice job.

Fun little game. I did have one of the jacks get stuck on a beanstalk and he wouldn't move. Still, enjoyed myself.
Very nice idea. It was fun trying to cruch Jack, but the bean stalks where a bit hard to climb.

I like this. Good arcade fun. Like the graphics. A little more sound would be a good improvement.
