LD33 — You are the Monster

Escape From Twump Tower by 01010111 2015-08-30T23:30:00

Great retro music and sounds. I Got stuck after about 4 minutes and couldn't climb anymore. Game mechanics are really polished, like pushing a block to the left or right by 1 pixel to be able to jump. Wasn't sure what to do though

You are the GM by GAFBlizzard 2015-08-24T17:24:00

Really cool. Game seems polished given the constraints. Great idea. Fun. Sound is cool too, especially dice rolling.

Synapse by tompudding 2015-08-24T05:21:00

I love the old commodore 64 look.

Windmills in the Sky by Fib 2015-08-30T23:32:00

Error message when I press play on gamejolt site: MissingKeyMissing Key-Pair-Id query parameter or cookie value. Did not rate cause couldn't play

Monster Living in A Cave Terrorizes Nearby Village! by Unentokku 2015-08-24T03:01:00

These turn-based games are fun. Cool that you also had a map section to chase victims. I played for about 15 minutes until I was defeated. Nice job

Grandóhma by Thijs Tak 2015-08-24T05:28:00

I just could figure out what to do. Even in full-screen the cursor and commands didn't seem to match up. When I clicked things there was always an explanation why I couldn't do that. The only thing that worked was cicking next turn. Looks ambitious

Who Shot First by CheesyRamen 2015-08-29T05:09:00

Excellent entry. Like you said, need to play it a few times. At first I just moved around and didn't realize I could shoot. Nice touch with the names of victims. Good idea and execution.

Shadow Creature by Halleflux 2015-08-24T04:40:00

cool having map and then arena stages.

The Werewolf Can Always Lie by Laddo D 2015-08-24T04:05:00

Maybe I'm missing something but it seems like just pure luck, and I never got the right person after trying for about 10 times -- wait, I read instructions to mouse over several times and I did better. Game bets better the longer it goes on, with new characters appearing when I thought I had seen it all. Got to round 11 and died only caused clicked by mistake. Good job.

Shape Shooter by weazen 2015-08-24T04:10:00

I didn't rate this cause it doesn't seem to fit the theme. What do you mean "purchased" after theme announced?

Barrel Roll Ultra! by Saf 2015-08-25T15:42:00

Excellent job for 48 hours. Well polished, good idea.

Daniel X Moore Presents: Dungeon of Sadness [LEGENDS] by Daniel X. Moore 2015-08-30T23:22:00

Hmm... interesting. Had to play it several times after reading other comments. It felt like I was in a video game version of Mad Magazine or the Hitchiker's Guide to D&D. No other entry was quite like this.

Beware the Kraken by HellBlazer 2015-08-27T03:46:00

The WebGL sound distortion kind of works with the Kraken attack phase. I liked this game, it just needs polished. It took a while to figure out the attack phase requires the mouse. I almost gave up thinking it was buggy. I got to level 3 and the Unity player crashed.

Delicious Cortex by deepnight 2015-09-15T15:37:00

This really is a great game. Discovered after LD33 and I played until the end. Simple but good challenges, good sound, graphics, humour... not too long. Worthy of #2

Sucker Punch by Shaw 2015-08-27T03:15:00

The idea just rocks for this one. And it's executed well. When I saw the initial screen shots early in the competition I already felt it was going to be good. If this had been a game back in the arcades in the 1980s, with better graphics and more features, it would have been a classic, alongside Joust and DigDug.

Up There - A Monster's Tale by Otrora Games 2015-08-26T14:17:00

Well packaged with the intro screen, credits, sound, graphics, smooth gameplay. But feels like a clone of existing games out there, to the point that it was just change the graphics of a template and drag and drop items, not much innovation. Maybe not too original, but looks like Construct 2 is a decent game engine.

Area 50 by misterwalter 2015-08-24T04:15:00

Awesome concept to have past lives play while you play the next round. It let's you try again, and shows you if you have beaten your last best place. Lots of points just for such an innovative past-lives features that makes it fun to play again and again.

Loch Ness by SnoutUp 2015-08-24T05:57:00

Super fun, simple, humorous. Good controls. Excellent submission for LD33 theme. This is a perfect example of knowing how to keep it simple. There's really nothing to improve except sound and maybe a few more challenges like the guy with the light. Way to go!

Executioner by TheZiggy 2015-08-24T02:23:00

I started to laugh when I realized that I am the monster making these decisions. Hilarious. And also insightful. Game doesn't have to be a platformer or have collision physics to win at this. music makes the mood. Nice job.

Gammonster by sikosis 2015-09-01T04:47:00

Didn't seem like a game really since was just random. If no skill involved, it's just a game of chance. However, after reading your comments, I totally understand -- we shouldn't forget this was a game competition. Just having code that works is a triumph! Sound, graphics, some kind of story... Good effort.

Chrys by sepharoth213 2015-08-24T03:32:00

Awesome for 48 hours. Fun to play more than once. I'd like to figure out the right key combinations to last longer. Love that it's in browser but doesn't feel like most browser games

Inokan by gillenew 2015-09-01T04:31:00

I'm pretty impressed by what I see from Construct 2. The character movement and attacks were kind of original. Complex jump and warp effect. I loved the art and feel. Was a bit hard and I didn't get too far. Sound wasn't working in browser on Safari. I kept hearing the sound of keys hitting when input not accepted instead of game music or effects.

Trump Presents America® by uvwar 2015-08-24T05:41:00

The 3D effects are insane for a 48-hour game competition. 3D in the browser. But what am I supposed to do besides move around. What's the game?

A Quiet Night on the Moon by Maxr00 2015-09-01T04:54:00

When I first saw your screen shot it looked like Georges Méliès' « Voyage sur la Lune ». Game was hard. you were definitely the monster :-) Game crashed on exit on OSX.

Where My Eggs At!? by Kassimkot 2015-08-27T03:32:00

Too hard, couldn't get passed the police after several tries.

The Core by ferdbold 2015-08-24T04:33:00

Awesome. Fun to play again and again right after you die. Simple controls. But pretty difficult

Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum by Justin Stahlman by stahlmanDesign 2015-08-24T16:01:00

DEVELOPER COMMENT : I confirmed the bug in Firefox. I think it has to do with drawing pixels to canvas that are not integers. I don't know if fixing it invalidates the submission. Will work on a fix anyway and see about posting it. Tempting to fix other bugs though and don't know if that fits the spirit of the competition

Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum by Justin Stahlman by stahlmanDesign 2015-08-24T17:30:00

DEVELOPER COMMENT : OK, I can do bug fixes. The rules page says this: Certain Bug Fixes are allowed. You can’t add new features, but if something broke or didn’t work correctly as you were finishing up, you can fix this after the deadline. You are asked to highlight the changes you make in your submission (a short change log). You probably wont get a 2nd chance with some players, but at least it wont be a problem for future players.

Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum by Justin Stahlman by stahlmanDesign 2015-08-26T03:23:00

DEVELOPER COMMENT: a few of bug fixes within the rules of the contest: now works in Firefox; fixed a case where a life would not be subtracted if you fell and got hurt; fixed a typo in the instructions (missing new line \n); climbing speed fixed; extended clouds to avoid bug where jack(s) would get stuck atop the beanstalk and not be able to go left or right, and could be easily killed

Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum by Justin Stahlman by stahlmanDesign 2015-08-31T23:05:00

DEVELOPER COMMENT: I fixed a few more of the bugs mentioned above, like jacks getting stuck and can't move see git repo for all details

Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum by Justin Stahlman by stahlmanDesign 2015-09-08T21:37:00

DEVELOPER COMMENT: @puzzud - graphics are original. See game description

PacGhost by NekuSoul 2015-08-26T14:22:00

Wow, excellent job! Innovative. Harder than I thought it would be to control two ghosts at the same time. Good exercise for the brain when the ghosts switch sides but your fingers don't. Perfect submission. Graphics don't matter cause the rest is original and well-executed.

The Weird Monster Thing's Adventure! by ThePugProgrammer 2015-08-29T03:26:00

I ate a few yellow dots and got to the white thing. Score 6802. Music didn't really fit the light-hearted, cartoonish look of the game. And t didn't seem like I was the monster. It felt like I was being chased by monsters. Controls seemed fine to me. Impressive what you can do with Unity and 3D in a browser these days.

The Wolf Comes Out at 18:00 by Stephen Patrick 2015-08-24T02:33:00

Sorry, the music is kind of cool but I can't figure out what to do. I tried to click on people to eat them but it didn't seem to work. A bit skittish the movement. At least I could play it in the browser. Cool that you used CraftyJS. the fog of war and opening doors, that must have been figured out ahead of time, cause why work on that logic for a 48-hours competition! The sheep are cool.

StoneWalker by Jamie Guillemette 2015-08-24T05:35:00

WOW. Crazy cool graphics especially the explosion when I died in the melee of battle with tiny sprear-throwing creatures and their canons turning my way. Too slow, but what a world for 48 hours. Amazing what can be done in 3D in the browser these days. Maybe that's why it's so damned slow as you mentioned

The Last Demon by 9.ar7k 2015-08-24T04:58:00

Construct 2 seems to be a good game engine. I like the graphics and feel. but not quite sure if the keys are doing what they're supposed to

Dwarf stole my Gold! by Wakefield 2015-08-25T17:00:00

Kind of slow and boring. Nice graphics, bounce effects. I wish I could do more. Pretty low-key action. Maybe should be faster, more dwarves at first. But great job for first attempt making a game. Nice to see an ImpactJS game. My game also uses Impact.

No More Mr. Nice God by Wekid 2015-08-27T03:28:00

Much fun, until, like Neitzsche, I saw God is dead and the game was over. I didn't understand why it ended before the time ran out.

Anthill by heyitsleo 2015-08-24T03:15:00

Really fun to play more than once. Processor intensive! Nice Job

Greetings, Human by boardtobits 2015-08-24T01:13:00

Funny intro story, really cool idea to do a game based on logic and mapping. Don't know how you did it in 48 hrs. Kind of hard but I love these turn-based games. Very different from the platformers and typical collision-based games (mine is a platformer)

When the Stars are Right by LTyrosine 2015-08-29T03:42:00

Crazy scary monster. Nice touch to have the eye follow the cursor. The 3D is beautiful and it's fun to control the monster. Great sounds too. Fun to play for a long time. Wow, really great! One of the best-looking, with innovative controls.

Glauron by Frozen Fractal 2015-08-26T16:24:00

Amazing graphics, gameplay and detail (arrows that stick in dragon, different kinds of arrows). Beautiful and simple. Wonderful game.

Tube of Terror by BortStudios 2015-08-24T05:12:00

I only played once, not sure what I was controlling, but amazing build up and graphics. Funny ending with the close-up and the tear

Bug life by mramaizng 2015-08-24T01:06:00

Pretty cool, I wanted more levels, maybe other obstacles!

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Falling and dying by Wakefield 2016-01-04T00:05:00

Nice job, need a clue or else get trapped in unwinnable area. I did play until I won
