LD24 — Evolution

Primordial Soup by bytegrove 2012-08-28T09:16:00

As others said, I like the idea but I found it way too hard. I think that the player should keep at least a basic shot even in its most "de-evoluted" form. Once you lost your weapon, it is almost impossible to avoid enemies shot and get back your head at the same time.

It could be really fun with just a little more polish and maybe something to dive the player ( story, different environments ). Still, I feel quite a lot was done in such a short time.

Bitolution Love by tronster 2012-08-28T09:49:00

I really didn't understand anything at the first four levels, I just clicked randomly until the game sent me to the next level. Then I got stuck at the house level. Since when does artsy means abstruse ?

Zombie Scientists Had Too Much Kitten by jujule 2012-08-27T18:16:00

Sorry guys !

I just discovered that you have to put http:// in front of the link for it to appear properly.

It is fixed now.

Zombie Scientists Had Too Much Kitten by jujule 2012-08-28T09:51:00

@tigerj

It is admittedly a bad game ! It is also buggy as hell. Everything went wrong during development, mostly because I started completely unprepared and then focused on other things than basic gameplay. Many lessons ( hopefully ) learned.

But thanks for playing and commenting !

Zombie Scientists Had Too Much Kitten by jujule 2012-08-28T14:24:00

@Prealpha : indeed, I can see this bug. But can I legally fix it ?

CellAnt by Bzaraticus 2012-08-28T07:46:00

Couldn't run it on my Mac... Sad, it looked interesting.

Slime LifeTime by ItsSacraficed 2012-08-28T09:56:00

Super classic. The bugs are really too frustrating.

viviDNA by Gama11 2012-09-02T21:22:00

Surprisingly fun and addictive. Really like the graphic style. It feels like a finished game.

Advancer by Knighty 2012-08-28T07:32:00

Very nice indeed ! I found the 3 stages of evolution styles were very nicely chosen and executed.

If you decide to push this idea, I'd like to have better balance between the evolution states. Here the last part was much longer than the others. I'd also like too see more interactions between evolutions, for example go back one step, or a possibility to influence the next stage of evolution from the previous one, a little bit like in Ocarina of Time, but with more layers and more often.

Space Ham by FunByJohn 2012-08-28T09:41:00

Fun but I don't see how the game play relates to the theme.

Universal Adaptors! by yanmania 2012-09-03T08:17:00

I enjoyed the game though I got stuck in the first time I played ( turn homo erectus after grabbing the DNA piece on the right tree and was then stuck ). Even for placeholders, I did like the graphics. A game I'd honestly like to be pushed after the compo.

Species by mappum 2012-08-31T09:25:00

Like everybody else, I was really frightened end I enjoyed it but in my opinion, placement of the flash light was a show stopper when I reached the platform part. It was just frustrating.
I'd be really to give it another try with this flashlight problem solved.

Disease by lesterpig 2012-08-28T12:28:00

I think I would have enjoyed it much much much more with a map. Also, the pace is a little slow for my taste, especially in an exploration game.

LD25 — You are the Villain

You are the Villain... or not! by Boiúna 2012-12-19T10:52:00

There are not enough crates generated. I had a run with only 1 crate !
Also, jumping all the time sometimes make you go forward. Bug or feature ?

MEMEX by Cake&Code 2012-12-22T13:34:00

I like the puzzles and I admire the amazing level of polish considering the short time. Good work.

Slaughter by wccrawford 2012-12-17T11:23:00

At least you have something playable but it is still really rough around the edges and not very rewarding for the player

Dragon Boss by Zanzlanz 2012-12-21T17:07:00

Simple fun. I enjoyed it.

Dracula's Treasure by 01010111 2012-12-21T17:21:00

Realy cute, realy adictive, realy well done. But maybe a little bit to generic for this kind of compo IMHO.

Revenge Bear by dek 2012-12-21T16:40:00

As every body else said, the art is fantastic. The action is a bit repetitive but the special feral AOE attack is immensly satisfying. Great work !

Dark Dream by eShredder 2012-12-18T19:08:00

This is to discover games like this one that I participate in jams. Simple but enjoyable mechanics. I couldn't finish it on the first or second run but I'll be sure to give it another try. This one is not going to the trash.

TWIRL - THE HAIRY HEIST by mtrc 2012-12-22T13:42:00

Nice ! Nice ! Nice ! Simple and fun, intelligent and funny gameplay. I love it.

TYRANOFORCE by blob 2012-12-21T18:42:00

Oh ! What a beauty, this one. Also the best spawning system so far amongst reverse shmups presented in this compo ( or that I have ever seen ). Will you later implement the ideas you talk about in your intro text ? That'd be sweet ! I think after putting so much effort in the graphics and design, it would be a waste to leave the game in such a state.

'Goat, give me back my clothes !' by MvT 2012-12-21T19:28:00

After a few tries I still don't really get how the controls work, making the game frustrating. But as other mentioned, awesome art !

Bug Story by Demurgos 2012-12-21T18:51:00

This is so good ! Ascii art ( my own entry is somewhat an ascii game and almost all my LD entries have been ), platform, brilliant. So yes, the LD version is buggy but hey, it is still playable and very much enjoyable in this state.

J'adore grave ! Comme on dit...

Goat Hate Jug Band by Jerre 2012-12-17T19:20:00

It was quite fun, I love the humor and the overall atmosphere but it is too repetitive for my own taste.
Congratulations for producing something playable in one day for your first LD, though.

Lord Of Corruption by HeroesGrave 2012-12-18T09:02:00

Made me think of Tiny Barbarian with a twist. I like the special skills. Definitely my kind of game.
This is a really good basis for a more ambitious game with a good story mode and more variety in the sceneries and the enemies.

Evil Dudes Need Evil Towers by jujule 2012-12-17T21:45:00

Hey, everybody !

Thanks for the kind words ! That really feels good after this tough weekend !

Yes, I know : the game is hard but that's a manic shooter genre prerequisite, isn't it :)
I reckon the game elements are rather small and make reading the screen somewhat difficult but here are a few tips that might help :
- keep your eyes firmly on the little demon at all times
- play with static / movement to lure the bullets where you want
- don't be greedy, wait for the right moment, especially pattern changes.
- you have to pack the blocks, of course, but not too much either.

In all honesty, I didn't beat the game myself. I was too exhausted. But I managed to get to 71 % completion. I guess with a little bit more training and pattern learning, it is doable.

Anyways, thanks again for giving it a try !

Spy Trouble by Sos 2012-12-18T13:25:00

I love the atmosphere and the whole art direction. The intro is super good. But the controls were somewhat frustrating : I felt there was a delay between pressing a key and the actual action. I'd love to play a version with better controls.

Dastardly Fiend by PixelMonkey 2013-01-07T10:39:00

Haha ! Plain simple fun. I enjoy the fire trap the most. Maybe you could add death animations for the two others.
Great work !

Zombie Salvation by pfirsich 2012-12-21T17:15:00

After reading comments, I sort of understood what to do but even though the zombie creation gauge reached 100%, no zombie ever poped out of the base. Unplayable... Pitty, this look like fun.

Missile Rider by rylgh 2012-12-19T11:13:00

Oh boy, I didn't manage to score more than 1 point in more than 20 tries but I love it.
I am amazed at the consistency of the work : simple but efficient gameplay, simple but beautiful graphics, simple but funny music and sound fx.
I'll bookmark this one.

Reverse_Shmup by EARink0 2012-12-17T19:50:00

Nice idea. Fits the theme.

Lack of Texture Adventure by Dioiminik 2012-12-17T19:28:00

I love the graphics but the game is really too hard with the enemies following you so systematically. Of course, you can trick them but with 31 enemies and only 10 life points, it's mission impossible. Maybe you should add some power-ups and a mini map ?

Lord of the Dungeons! by LittleGreenFlame 2012-12-17T18:53:00

I really like the concept of a sort of reverse tower defense. Really smart. Sadly there are several problems that make the game difficult to play :
- the interface is not so intuitive
- pathfinding doesn't really work
- I killed the good guy but nothing happened, only his life going into the negative range
I'd really like to play again a more polished version of this game. So all in all, I'll give it a good rating.

ECHO CHAMBER by Loren 2012-12-18T23:13:00

I love the angle on the theme. Best I've seen so far. I love how it is "disruptive". Ha ! That's another word you could use, I believe.

HeroesFall by Yacodo 2012-12-22T13:47:00

Interesting idea but the game lacks polish. I clicked like crazy and couldn't even manage to touch the hero once !

Managing Morder: The ground is always blacker on the other side. by Bensonance 2012-12-19T09:24:00

A fantastic effort, but as others have said the font is difficult to read making the game very confusing at first. Once you know what icon does what, it not a problem anymore.
Another detail : discarding windows with enter while everything is mouse driven is a little bit anoying.

Doc's Heist Starring Snuggles the Cat by hints 2012-12-19T09:15:00

This looked really interesting and fun but there were to many unpredictable collision bugs : the cat or the scientist suddenly teleports outside of the map making it impossible to complet the level. I couldn't go further than level 2 after 5 or 6 tries. Frustrating. I'd love to play a fixed version though.

Evil Death Robots Vs Bunnies by Team Superfluid 2012-12-17T21:58:00

I wish the pace was a bit faster.

You are Bankster! by Deril 2012-12-21T17:02:00

Interesting game, interesting topic that suits the theme. Maybe a timer would make it more challenging. After all, banisters always work on the short term, don't they ?

You are the Evil Overlord by Worse 2012-12-17T19:42:00

Very interesting concept. I didn't always feel like my orders were properly reflected by the minions actions but the dialog system is brilliant. You should polish it more, not the graphics, just the system. And also add sound.

Bad Santa by 02fc.exe 2012-12-21T18:28:00

Nice little platformer but controls are too twitchy which makes it sometimes frustrating. But a nice effort in such a short time.

Stop Him Now! by TijmenTio 2012-12-21T19:33:00

Olala ! So difficult ! But what a load of retro-sweetness packed into a good concept. Excellent work !

Bag Snatcher by jamesca 2012-12-17T20:21:00

Fun game. Fits the theme very well. Quite hard, though.

Elevator Evil by 8bitDamage 2012-12-18T09:21:00

An evil elevator ! That's the best idea I've seen so far.
The game mechanics works really well. Congratualtions for your first LD entry. It's super good.

bad dudes v. bad dude by hazzen 2012-12-18T13:34:00

This is definitely one of the games I'll be playing again after I'm finished with ratings. I want a standalone. Would be fantastic on an iPad.

Rude Bear by Alex Rose 2012-12-18T14:07:00

As a game, I don't know... But what a delightful experience. I clicked that mouse like a real MF G.
I gave you 5 stars on all artistic criteria.

Inverted Space Shooter by Tyranus 2012-12-17T21:51:00

All other positive comments from previous posters are exactly right. I'd like to see this game expanded : more story, more good guys ( ships and characters ), more options, etc...

Goat Factory by nilstastic 2012-12-21T19:41:00

The game is not working on my Mac. A terminal window opens but then nothing happens.

V I L L A I N Y by chrisamaphone 2012-12-20T21:59:00

I enjoyed this a lot, both the text and the drawings.

Land of the Weebums by vrav 2012-12-18T09:34:00

This game perfectly reminds us how a terrible species we are. We enjoy torture and harassment. We were always the villain...

Animal King by gabeochoa 2012-12-17T10:57:00

A truly enjoyable experience. I love the start screen and the font and layout choices. It is not trivial to make a text adventure look good. Too bad you couldn't finish it which make the relevance to the theme not so obvious.

The World is Mine! by matthias_zarzecki 2013-01-07T10:53:00

The World is Mine !
Is there a way to lose, though ?
Anyways, great effort. Good fun !

The Villains' Empire by Colapsydo 2012-12-17T19:01:00

En effet, même après plusieurs essais, sans réel contrôle sur le mouvement de la cohorte de vaisseaux le jeu est assez frustrant. J'aime assez les graphismes et la musique.

Indeed, without proper control on the ships and even after many tries, the game remains quite frustrating. Good graphics and sound, though.

Shadow Of The Bosses by superjoebob 2012-12-21T19:22:00

I'm spending too much time on this game. I just love it. Any chances for a post LD release ?

Blue Idiot by markengley 2012-12-20T22:06:00

Nice little game. I won on my second try !

Oppression by Danvil 2012-12-18T09:29:00

I like the stalinian feel to the graphics. That gives the game an interesting atmosphere.
It was a little bit to slow for my taste.
If made with Unity, why no Mac version ?

The Most EVIL Breakfast by refreshgames 2012-12-18T09:09:00

I really liked the graphics, sound, the humour, everything, but I whish the game was a little faster paced. Maybe the robot could be a tiny little bit faster than the kittens.

Villain Warehouse by Ramuh 2012-12-19T09:27:00

I can see where the inspiration is comming from and I like it. It is also matching the theme quite well. But there are too few games. We want more !

Brown Hat, Red Hat Cowboy POW! by Pixelbear 2012-12-17T20:37:00

Short but good !

Deadland by yokcos700 2012-12-17T20:03:00

A very good idea and very well executed at that. Excellent. I justwould like the pace to be a bit faster.

Bad Santa by Cat Burton 2012-12-19T08:42:00

Santa arrested buy angry policemen. Excellent.
Is it possible to loose the cops ?

Space Lord by axcho 2012-12-20T21:18:00

Interface, graphics and sound are good and most importantly consistent. I like that the goal is to entertain the "player" rather than putting the emphasis on killing him. But as other said, I'd like a little more challenge. Overall a good entry.

Dig-Dug Dungeon by bigbadwofl 2012-12-19T09:07:00

As everybody else said : great game. So much done in 48 hours !!!

Plebs vs. Mobs by Kurt 2012-12-17T20:53:00

I didn't really understand what was happening. I like the graphics and the atmosphere though.

Sisyphus by Wan 2012-12-19T10:59:00

Quite brilliant really. I love the dilemma the game induces. The name is perfectly chosen too.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Attack Force Deca by PIXEL^3 2013-08-30T19:34:00

Wow. What a challenge ! But I like brutal shooters. Good entry !

Robotica by recursor 2013-08-28T20:28:00

Good music and funny robots. What a good combination. I really enjoyed the game. So did my girlfriend.

Duke Dashington by AdventureIslands 2013-08-28T20:42:00

As others have said : great great great polish but I few problems with twitchy controls. I guess this can be fixed pretty easily. That and more levels !!!

Train Robbery by phaze0 2013-09-03T11:20:00

Haha, real good, graphics, sound and gameplay wise. Maybe you should scale the graphics up. It was quite difficult to properly click on each robber, especially when they were really close to each other.
Note : the game froze a few times.

YOU MUST GET THE ATOMS by Terrabyte 2013-09-03T11:07:00

Beautiful graphics ! Really ! I love the saturated colors. Love the music too. Good pace, fits the theme well. Nice gameplay too. Like some other commentator, I just bashed the buttons until I managed to progress but I think it also fits the atmosphere of the game.
Works great on my Mac.

Forever 10s by jujule 2013-08-26T21:52:00

Thanks ! I put a lot of efforts into it. Maybe to much...

Dysdoughpia by Yngar 2013-09-01T14:10:00

I love the retro style. Good game.

The Pitch by Alex Shestakov 2013-09-03T19:36:00

Great idea. I imagine it was on purpose but it was really difficult for me to pick to buzz words I wanted because of the movement. I am not sure aligning them in a static list ( maybe adding some more too ) would make the challenge easier.
My score : $331.685

Chez Angelo Almost Home by EdoMiyamoto 2013-08-30T19:15:00

I didn't really get it and I found the controls dodgy. I'll try to play the prequel.

Doctor Drown (Ph D) by paulmcgg 2013-08-30T19:09:00

Alright. It took me 5 tries and 2 days to get what was happening. Now I just won my first game and I can say I love this. Great graphics and animation, fantastic music. A real neat entry.

Fortris by mollrow 2013-09-03T19:42:00

Interesting idea but it is too difficult. I enjoyed watching the blocks move by themselves. Quite hypnotic and relaxing.

Sacrebleu! by Liz England 2013-08-29T20:44:00

Great writing, great graphic design. But in my opinion, zee bastard should be drinking Cognac.

The Master of All Magic by marbu 2013-09-03T19:49:00

Simple concept but properly executed. Indeed, congratulations on delivering something.

Diesel May Care: Quest For The Ten-Second Car by nintendoeats 2013-09-03T20:07:00

Just wonderful. As a Win Diesel + Top Gear fan, I'm just too happy I could play a game with such an improbable background. I really got into the gameplay mechanic too. Really, really, really.
Just a side note : I thought the game was buggy ( parts I stole would not appear ) until I realized you can scroll down parts lists. You should mention it in game description.

exposure by zillix 2013-09-03T11:00:00

Wow. Fantastic entry, both polished and fun. I like the vertical format.
I never played any of the games you give as inspirational for this work but the background story made me think of Philip K. Dick.

Doom Hex: Escape by Omnus 2013-08-29T20:25:00

Nice game. I like the graphics a lot. You should push it with more enemies and more abilities.

Legend of Epikouros by Erhune 2013-09-03T10:46:00

The best take on the theme so far. I liked the thrill near the end of the "show" when you wonder if you'll be in a position to do something meaningful other than just walking and then the frantic attempt to not waste your precious 10 seconds.
Now the question is : how to push this concept further ? I'd really love to see that.

Until Death! by RennFarnell 2013-08-29T20:30:00

Simple concept and solid gameplay. Fits the theme well. And nice graphics. I like it !

GridBall by Tinard 2013-08-29T20:49:00

I like the interpretation of the theme. But controls are a bit inaccurate and made the game too difficult for me.

10 Seconds of life by Hexicube 2013-08-29T21:00:00

I like the manic shooter / arena shooter mix but as others said, it gets to hard to quick, especially for a keyboard / mouse combo. That said, I believe that with a less steep learning curve, it would be great !

40 in 10 by djbriandamage 2013-08-28T20:45:00

Who cares if it is a game or not. It is fun !

Boyfriend Simulator: Feed My Boyfriend by leafo 2013-08-30T19:14:00

I loved the mini-game approach. Really polished entry. Fantastic !

Barricade by AdamHarte 2013-09-03T14:00:00

Very polished on all levels. Very slick. I like it.

Keep Flying by bushmango 2013-08-30T19:23:00

Just perfect. I buy it for both my Macs, My PS3 and my XBox, my PS Vita, my iPod, my girlfriends iPhone and my son's iPad. I'll buy it from Steam and GOG. I'll fund it 71 times on Kickstarter. I'll bully my mother into buying it too.

Pinokio and Juliet 2113 by kibertoad 2013-08-29T20:55:00

I'd love to play this game. I'm really attracted by the graphics and the background story but the game is not running on my Mac. Sad...

Mutatris by CiderPunk 2013-08-29T21:04:00

Great concept. It is to play this kind of game that I enjoy participating in events like LudumDare. If you could find a way to "tailor" the mutations to make the game less hard, you'd have a great basis for a very successful game.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

The world beneath by Spotline 2014-05-06T21:05:00

Wow, wow. Beautiful! Amazing artisitic achievment. I liked the torch mechanic.

Senilescape by Xaychru 2014-05-03T20:30:00

I wrote down your name because I saw one of your posts during the compo. I'm glad I did. Solid game: perfect controls, good grpahics and good music. Jolly good fun.

Finish Him! by dmcfarline 2014-05-07T10:47:00

Indeed, an amazing entry for only 6 hours. I liked everything about it, especially the humour. The next step would be adding a scoring system and a ladder.

Burrow Down by danbo 2014-05-07T22:14:00

I liked the frantic action. I also appreciate the fact that there is a lot of content. The only down point to me is that some of the great pixel graphics contrasts to much with some other placeholder ones (menu background, exits, for example).
Good job!

emilion by Helopol 2014-04-29T13:19:00

Amazing! Very polished.

It Came from Beneath the Surface: Wormgun by BoneDaddy 2014-05-03T21:32:00

Fun game. My XBox360 controller wasn't detected but I found the keyboard controls quite good.
Simple graphics, but ok and consistant for a jam.
Maybe the power ups could be a bit bigger.

UNDERQUEST by Tweak 2014-04-29T20:21:00

Wow! Very neat! It got real hard very quick but I liked it a lot. This could definitely be the beginning of something bigger. I'd play that with a controller!

Mosquito Mashin' by TheGamingProject 2014-05-01T21:19:00

Haha! Jolly good fun! Frantic action!
And it obviously fits the theme in a better way than just a game taking place underground or under water.

Wheraldo by kydo986 2014-04-29T20:12:00

I couldn't get past the first mini-game. I managed to pop a few objects from under the ground bet that's all.
But great atmosphere, good graphics and music.

Beyond The Dark by Avichal 2014-05-08T22:05:00

Impressive achievement both technically and artistically. I just felt the controls were sometimes a bit to much: mouse + arrows + space for some jumps was realy challenging.

Klondike Nuggets by jerombd 2014-05-07T22:04:00

I love the the rogue like aesthetic so much that I enjoyed just walking around. That was actually one of the moodiest entry so far.
3 days is indeed short. Consider entering the 7drl. Good job nonetheless.

Under a Martial Artist's Skin by jujule 2014-04-29T16:03:00

Well, I guess you're both right, customer is king and this rule is never truer than with video games.
Yet I don't get what's so difficult about it:
1) play the rhythm game to accumulate focus ( power, if you will )
2) press left-ctrl when you have enough focus ( 3, 6 or 9 points )
3) choose a body part to target and attack
4) repeat until all 4 body parts are destroyed

I'm sorry if I sound bitter but I hardly see this as a complex game scheme.

Under a Martial Artist's Skin by jujule 2014-05-02T16:40:00

Thanks for the kind words from this who did get it in the end. And for those that didn't like but gave constructive criticism.

@klianc09: that's a problem I didn't have on my screen here. But thanks for pointing it out; I'll try to contrast the yellow and white some more.
@moonmagic: thanks. That makes a lot of sens the way you say it!!! That's definitely a potential source for confusion. And congrats again for your great entry.

SWIM HARD by Spierek 2014-05-03T21:27:00

Hehehe, real good fun. I just played for 10 minutes with my wife. Very fun concept and very properly inplemented.
Extremely fun. I wonder how you could port it on a tablet. That would be awesome as a 4 player games around a table.

2587: Screw You ET by Holofire 2014-05-08T21:29:00

The mood was fantastic thanks to the great graphics and the humour. I like that you implemented so many things that make the game fell "complete". The only frustration I had was that the game is indeed easy but avoiding the enemies bullets is so hard. Fantastic job in such a short time nonetheless.

Mine Climber by lfpetrini 2014-05-08T21:44:00

Fantastic graphics. As others said, it's a bit easy to avoid both fights and water. I managed to get to floor 141 without ever pressing "c" or "x". Then I tried fighting but I felt each level I gained didn't make me feal so much more powerful. I think this reward feeling is a key point to pushing this the goodness is deserves.

Chupacabra by Thomas Ingham 2014-05-06T20:27:00

Very ambitious entry. I felt the controls were a bit sloppy and that made the world a bit too vast to explore.
But still, good job.

Tsunami Cruiser by bvanschooten 2014-05-14T19:19:00

Hard, yes, but never unfair. Smart game mechanics served by controls that work perfectly. I love the art too. It's just missing some speedy music.

Subterranean Extermination by Fritzendugan 2014-05-01T20:59:00

I like the mood, especially the music. I got used to controls quite quick. My only comment would be that digging is a bit slow, making exploration a bit boring compared to combat and difficult to use rocks as weapons.
A good entry. Good job!

Wormhunter by Thorig 2014-04-29T21:06:00

Yeah! I liked everything about this game, especially that my wife also liked it! This kind of experience is why I enjoy participating in Ludum Dare.

The Legend of the Thunder Fish by BMacIntosh 2014-05-03T22:04:00

Very moody thanks to the good musics. I like the hook mechanic and that the gameplay has 2 alternate sides. Nice work.

SURF ACE by mrhill 2014-04-29T22:04:00

Grpahics and sound are ok, but is is the gameplay and its original take on the them and the perfectly responsive controls that really shine. I like it very much. You should keep working on it. Definitely.

Vertico by UltimateWalrus 2014-05-03T21:20:00

Technically super solid! I'm especially at how consistant it is: graphics, music and gameplay are all very thight.
I think it would be even better with controller support.

PR0BE by Softwave 2014-05-03T21:07:00

A good start and a good job for a first entry. More specifically : good controls and this is usually the hardest part to get right. Keep participating.

Truth by Jason Lay 2014-05-13T19:49:00

Interesting text serving an interesting take on the theme. Reading other comments I was thinking about what music would fit and I realized I like the silence. But even if the game's mood is already pretty strong, I agree with others that it coudl greatly benefit from darker lighting and longer distances. A good entry nonetheless. Good job!

Fathoms by dook 2014-04-29T20:28:00

As others have said, really peaceful yet challenging. A great take on the theme. Congratulations.

Four Minute Miner by Bevilacqua 2014-05-13T20:25:00

Controls are a bit dodgy but all in all, it works. Maybe you could add enemies and more gear to buy, make it into a vertical tower defence.

Juno's Garden by Dining Philosopher 2014-05-13T20:50:00

I concur with everybody else. I was a bit confused but the art and concept is fantastic. I didn't want to zoom, I liked the tiny graphics.

Beneath the Surface by praporomsk 2014-04-29T13:36:00

Great graphics, great atmosphere. It clearly matches the theme well. I would have liked the controls a little bit more polished, especially the jump. That would have made the game a little bit easier.

Ascendence by Diamonde 2014-05-14T19:56:00

I think the graphics and music set a really good mood (music is good!). Hellish, but not your usual "dark fantasy hell". I liked that.
The gameplay concept is also good but as others have mentioned, not seing the doors open and close as you push the buttons is a frustrating especially since the character walks so slowly.
But to me, it is really something you should keep working on. Good job.

Beyond our World by Neonlare 2014-04-29T22:53:00

A simple but properly executed idea.

Below Earth by klianc09 2014-04-29T22:28:00

Classic but fun and well executed. Gamepad support is really a plus. Good job!

Aeronautical by GarethIW 2014-05-06T19:56:00

I picked this one because my wife liked the screenshots. I'm glad I listened to her. I love the old school graphics but what appeal to me the most are the slick slick controls. The inertia is perfectly balanced; it's not easy to maneuver but it is never unfair. The piloting sensation is great.
Power ups work well to : they come at the right pace and really make you feel more powerful.
I guess you wanted to do something with the towers but didn't have time.
I hope you'll want to keep working on it. The best action entry for me so far. Good job.
note : the game crashed but I didn't see any window pop up after that.

Life story by gmaker 2014-05-06T20:36:00

I like the graphics on the screen shots but when I play the game it looks like it upscaled 3 or 4 times and looks all blury. Nonetheless, looking at the screen shots, I can get a clear idea.
I liked the story too and found the control very responsive.
Your story leaves space for the player's imagination to fill the gaps. Another good point.
I haven't beaten it yet but I'll definitely try again.

Captain John's Buried Treasures by martijn 2014-05-01T22:08:00

Overall presentation is good. Controls are responsive. I liked the Dig Dug + Terraria + sort of real physics mix. And you managed to make a lot of levels.
Solid throught and through.

Deep Sea Rescue by TheMaster99 2014-05-14T20:42:00

I enjoyed floating around, shooting at things; action but at a somewhat slow pace. That actually set a relaxing mood. So I agree with others, make it longer.
Question : since you're using Unity, why not add Mac and Linux versions?
One last thing : the download for the web version took ages, like 20 minutes.

Operation Blind October by Jyrkface 2014-05-07T10:25:00

Good concept, nice art. I think setting inertia a little bit softer would make the game easier.

Go! Go! Purgatory! by Captain_Genial 2014-05-07T20:59:00

Ce n'est pas tant la masse de travail qui m'impressionne que la cohérence du tout. Et forcément, j'aimerais aussi avoir les textes en français. Beau travail.

Drill Fish by meszka 2014-05-13T21:11:00

I got a little confused by the controls too but the other comments made me want to try again. Once you get it, it's quite an enjoyable game. I'd like to here the beach-pople scream.

Leak by ashdnazg 2014-05-03T22:19:00

I died miserably the 3 games I played but I loved it. I really like this kind of simplistic graphis serving a complex gameplay. Sound was good too but I wish the shouting had a stronger impact (not on the gameplay, but on the player). I want to feel like I'm roaring at my men.
Also add some more content and it'll be brilliant, I'm sure.

Shinoumi by Jhelle 2014-05-14T20:54:00

Argh. 12 points. There is definitely an "end game difficulty curve" problem!
Art is good. Controls are tight. I like the idea of the collapsing/transforming landscape. Add music, fix the difficulty and add some more projects, maybe a left/right scrolling and you're onto something that could turn really addictive.

Wireside by Solifuge 2014-05-01T20:15:00

Wow, wow. Very good! I like the cyberpunk take on the theme and the way it reflects directly on the gameplay. Good graphics too. Controls need a little bit more polish but, hey, it's ok, it's a jam after all.
You should definitely keep working on this.

Dog Hunt by tikilittle 2014-05-07T21:32:00

Good graphics. It got really fun once I took the time to read the controls description. The only thing really missing is a scoring system.

Super Plumber Brothers by arrogant.gamer 2014-05-07T21:54:00

10 flowers and then I got stuck in the ground. Yes, broken collisions, yes, but it was fun. Broken rules maybe (or so I believe), but it was fun.

Deep South Motel by iossif 2014-04-29T21:49:00

Wow. Just... Professional!!! Graphics, gameplay, it's all good. I'd like to add just one little comment : I think the final score should also reflect the development of motel.

Soulitude by bitserum 2014-05-07T10:40:00

An interesting interpretation of the theme and well integrated in the game mechanics. The art also is excellent. Excellent job. When do we get to see the next part?

meltafreezeteleport: iceberg caver (I'm bad at names) by sthreet 2014-05-14T21:06:00

I've indeed seen worse. Took me while to understand what I thought were walls are actually pits! So yes, the interface is still rough, you need to polish graphics and maybe add more spells, add enemies, but I think you have a good foundation.

Snatching Invaluables Beneath the Surface by mcburrobit 2014-05-14T20:17:00

A very technically solid game. As other have mentioned, the music is excellent. You could do a quick post comp version with a timer and a scoring system. And then maybe add some variety in enemies. Maybe traps too.
Good jobs. Keep working on it!

Seismic Charge by J.Barrows 2014-05-14T20:05:00

I enjoyed it a lot. I like the radical minimalistic graphics. I agree with most of the idea you have in mind to refine gameplay, mostly to make it harder, but I also think part of the fun was to frantically click around the position where the monster was first spotted. Maybe you shouldn't so much put restrictions on bombing capacities but make the monster faster. Just an idea. Anyways, good job.

Hammerfall by borrismoose 2014-05-07T21:17:00

A nice idea that perfectly matches the theme. As others have said, you could really polish this and publish it for mobile devices. I'd like to see that.

They Lurk Beneath by Nega Drive 2014-05-01T20:47:00

At first, I thought, well, another polished but generic entry and then the city/boss came and I loved it. I'd like to see more bosses, with different behaviours, and maybe a life bar for the enemies. Game controller was a big plus.

Emerita by st33d 2014-05-03T22:43:00

Thanks to csanyk, it all makes sens now. I still can't get past level 4.
It's an intersting take on the theme though and I like the art style a lot.

Scuba Sam by Boodog 2014-05-08T20:44:00

Simple but well executed. It also took me a while understanding the crabs don't hurt you. Maybe they should but also have more predicatble movement patterns. That would bring excitement when the levels get bigger.

Mine flood by Seme 2014-05-13T21:28:00

Simple and solid for a fist game.

Bionic Hotdog by Daniel X. Moore 2014-05-06T22:03:00

Best game ever. At first, it looks like the whole thing is just a joke but controls are very reponsive and precise and each level brings a differetn challenge. Graphics and character design are just the best.

Pixel Draw by zebi24 2014-05-08T21:52:00

I was completely oblivious to the penguin in the second level. When I got it, a stupid smile appeared on my face (girlfriend told me). That felt good. Besides that, I love the pixel art.

Core Collector by mystakin 2014-05-14T20:47:00

I'm on a Mac and I can't play it either in the browser (Safari, Firefox or Chrome). It's a pity because the game looked really fun and polished. If you're using Unity, why not make Mac and Linux versions available? It's takes just one click.

Beneath The Surface by trvr 2014-04-29T16:09:00

The Mac version doesn't work for me. It just doesn't launch. I'll stick around and see if you update it. I really want to try it.

Iceberg - Beneath the Surface by jacobrb95 2014-04-29T22:38:00

A nice idea, really. It deserves better art, I think. Please keep working on it.

Necronomicon by lowcade 2014-05-03T22:27:00

I'm impressed at the amount of work you managed to pull out. Great. Good entry but the controls need a little bit more polish, I think.

7 Days by louis.denizet 2014-05-08T21:17:00

Excellent action puzzler. Excellent idea served by a near perfect execution (maybe the bottom "spore" zone is a bit to wide?). It is already very polished but you could go much further with this one.

Dwarves & Goblins by PlasterPhantom 2014-04-29T13:38:00

Wow. Excellent graphics, smooth controls and nice and original gameplay that perfectly fits the theme. Good job !
By the way, I'm on a Mac and I didn't have any black box problem.

Underneath Your Skin by thinkster 2014-05-06T21:58:00

Best idea so far. I love the art too. You die pretty fast so it wasn't immediatly obvious to me that I was doing the right way. Maybe successful actions should have more visual or auio feedback. And I agree with the first comment: it needs highscore ranking.

Splash Europa by pkenney 2014-05-03T20:36:00

Nice. I love the classic feel. Tight controls too. Good job.

Kamikaze Snail: They see me sliding, they hatin'! by kalth.streil 2014-04-29T20:03:00

It was so hard getting to the center I was surprised I beat the boss the first encounter! Yeah! I liked the texts, too...
Pretty neat but I would have liked the controls a little bit more polished.

Bitmite Blitz by Coin Flip Games 2014-05-01T20:36:00

A solid entry on a technical level but everything feels a bit generic to me. I expect something a bit whackier from a jam game.

Buy your own Freedom by psychonull 2014-05-07T21:09:00

Good concept. I really liked it. I felt that the difficulty mostly comes from the obstacles hitbox being to big. I'd like to see that corrected in a post-compo version.

Linked by ALobker 2014-05-14T21:15:00

I enjoyed it. It is a little bit rough around the edges but it's ok, you focused on gameplay and that ended up pretty good. I would have like to play more levels.

Alien Cyclope Miner on Mars by SK16 Games 2014-05-01T21:10:00

A good start for something bigger. Good graphics and humour. Too bad you didn't have time to add enemies, but hey, it's a jam, we all went through there at some point.
Maybe there was a bug on my machine : I couldn't properly see how close or far I was aiming which made things confusing at the beginning.

Deep Calls To Deep by Romko Pidstryhach 2014-05-06T20:17:00

A very solid and consistant entry. Amazing job for a first entry.

Under the scratchy surface by oenvoyage 2014-05-06T19:58:00

Same as osthekake but with the OS/X file...

Hair Spirit Adventure by messthem team 2014-05-13T21:01:00

A nice effort on the graphics. Controls were alright with me except for one thing: I may be wrong but I believe you use Input.GetKeyDown("a"), etc, for direction input. The problem with this approach is that you hardcode inout keys and not everybody has a qwerty keyboard. I believe you should use Input.GetAxis("horizontal"), etc, as it alows people with other keyboard layouts to play properly.

The Goblin Inside by MetanoKid 2014-05-01T20:32:00

Great, great! I participate in jams to play games like this one.
Good job!

In The Blood by hexagore 2014-05-01T20:51:00

I like this kind of concept. It's instantly fun. And I think it perfectly mixed with your take on the theme. Great graphics too, somewhere inbetween photorealism and a abstract shooter.
Good entry, high grades from me.

ExploZone: Beneath the Surface by Weebeez 2014-05-06T21:35:00

Don't be sorry for your art, I like it. I also liked the charge guage on the gun. Good work for a first LD. Keep going!

NecRobot by Zarkith 2014-05-06T21:32:00

Very solid entry. Everything is good but the computer voice when you die really made my day! Good job!

Nether by zdonkeyx 2014-05-03T21:40:00

Very good concept that perfectly fits the theme. The graphics and music are ok but I like that you focused on gameplay and controls. And there is content too. I really enjoyed it. Keep working on it.

Sharks With Feelings by fermenter 2014-05-08T21:02:00

Cool concept served by fantastic graphics. I loved the little stick figures being dropped in the water. Was it difficult to have a continuous rotation for the sharks rather than discret positions? It makes the controls a bit difficult. Nonetheless, an impressive entry.

LLOYD by danialhyatt 2014-05-03T20:57:00

Very good.
The hint was pretty obvious and made the game very enjoyable with a good pace. I find the comment about how long one can commit to try one game stupid anyways.
An impressive entry for a first LD. Good job.

Underground by Nnoel 2014-05-01T21:35:00

I enjoyed this a lot. The controls are very responsive and that's the most important. I like the mood the music sets. It could be a little bit easier in the first 2 or 3 stages.

Descent by camlang 2014-05-01T08:11:00

Very atmospheric. I liked that a lot. It seems I couldn't get the second attack to work. However I tried, only the first attack would get out.
I'd like to see a post comp version of this game.

The surface by vector67 2014-05-01T21:14:00

I doesn't work on my Windows 7 box... That's sad.

Fake Zoo by v3games 2014-05-14T19:31:00

I really like it. I sucked at playing the dolphin but the girafe was great fun. The graphics are good too. It is a very tongue in cheek yet very consistent experience.
Fantastic job.
I'm sur you can add some more animals ( monkeys, sloths, spiders, snakes, birds, elephants ( the trunk!!! )).

Winter Is Coming . . . by PixelFeet 2014-05-08T22:29:00

A really interesting take on the theme. Graphics are ok. I wish the bird was singing during the game also, as it is super relaxing.
As others have said early game (and early game only, in my opinion) needs to be a bit faster. That could also be twicked with having the nutritiant/water distribution less random.
A really refreshing entry. Keep working on it. It's good but there is tones of space to add content and elaborate gameplay.

Hymn of the Moles by King_Mew 2014-05-01T22:02:00

I liked the radicaly bare graphics and sound. Controls were a bit unprecise.
Good work.

Beneath The Surface by adamwoolridge 2014-04-29T21:16:00

The best concept I've seen so far. This could be expanded for sure. I'd even pay for it if it was on my Vita!

Space Surface by Belingo 2014-04-29T13:24:00

A pretty good entry, jolly good fun, but I couldn't mange this yellow guy...

FalloutRun by Alphonse 2014-05-01T21:41:00

Hahaha! I liked it : jumping over cars, avoiding nukes, general panic! Yeah!
Good job! Make more games!

MechSpider by Sebastião 2014-04-29T21:56:00

As other have said, there is a problem with mouse focus and sensitivity. But a nice effort nonetheless. I liked the music.

Thrown Below by furriKira 2014-05-13T19:37:00

Overall this is the entry with the best polish/fun/content ratio I've played so far (83 tests). great job. You should definitelly keep working on it.

Enlightened by Marjie62 2014-05-14T20:31:00

I found the interface to be a bit difficult to work with but besides that it is a really great gameplay idea serving a really great take on the theme. I wish you'll keep working on it, add music, a 4 players mode, AI, etc... That could be a fantastic iPad board game.

Ninja Fish by Hamsternator 2014-05-08T20:56:00

The assets are not that bad for a 48h competition. I like that you managed to create 3 different kind of enemies each with a really different behaviour. Controls work smoothly too so the gameplay side is really well done. Congrats for this good first LD entry!

The Westport Independent by Double Zero One Zero 2014-05-01T22:17:00

Everything is good about this except, as others have mentioned, it is sometimes hard to pick up articles to put them in the envelopes.
Very solid entry for an excellent take on the theme.

Super Iceberg Hero by wschorn 2014-05-06T21:13:00

Hahaha! Very interesting take on the theme! I liked the minimalitic graphics and the music. Controls require practice but they work ok too. Good job.

Kill or Kill by GreatBigJerk 2014-05-06T19:44:00

Slick game. I enjoyed the dark humour and the overall mood despite me begin a cat lover... Texts are good. Good job.

The Loudest Ballerina by whalebot 2014-04-29T22:36:00

A great concepts perfectly executed and exquisitely spiced up with a brilliant sens of humour. The best entry so far for me.

Sprout by Nic V. 2014-04-29T23:00:00

Cut, fun, interesting. An impressive effort.

TunnelGunner by AngryPriest 2014-04-29T22:45:00

It took a little while to get used to but I did enjoy it. A nice effort for an original idea. Good job! You should pursue.

Emerge by pudimnicolas 2014-05-13T20:30:00

Excellent start. I hope you can finish it.

SubFlight 2075 by JTJones853 2014-05-06T20:49:00

After a few tries I finaly understood how the controls work (buoyancy depends on speed, so press '2') and I began to really enjoy the game. So I destroy the first 2 turrets and start thinking that the sea bottom is awfully flat and then the rift appears and I'm : woooow!

Shootmarine by elmoGames 2014-04-29T13:30:00

I loved how the theme was integrated in the gameplay. That was brilliant. But as others have said, collisions are rather unforgiving. Maybe with a little bit more polish...

Earthen Terror by arkeus 2014-05-03T21:59:00

I thought I was definitely over color matching puzzlers but the locking mechanics was very interesting. The spells were also very well thought of and varied.
I found it a bit difficult on normal.
Nothing to say about the technical aspect. Everything is top notch.
Fantastic entry !

Mycelium by nSun 2014-05-07T10:34:00

Very interesting take on the theme. I'm dumb so I don't really get how the mushrooms grow but I enjoyed trying different patterns and watching them grow. Maybe try to add music and sound fx. Good work for such a short time.

BULLA by moonmagic 2014-05-01T21:56:00

I saw one of your posts during the compo and I immediatly wante dto give your entry a try.
I have to say gameplay is as original and appealing as the graphics are. Sound is brilliant too.
I love it.

Toxic Below by dertom 2014-05-13T21:19:00

I like the game mechanics but when I reach the end of the first level I just see chopper spinning on itself and nothing else. Ii's stuck so I have no other chance but to quit... Too bad.

Planet Improver by udo 2014-05-13T20:08:00

Aaaaaah... I love the mood so much. I think discovering the game mechanics is part of it too. I really enjoyed exploring the menus. I don't know, I feel like a steep learning curve is part of any roguelike ( 2nd part ) experience. Excellent job!

Beyond The Surface The Chaos Rises by kibertoad 2014-05-01T20:27:00

I LOOVE the atmosphere; graphics and music are awesome. Really. I also totally liked the gameplay. The only little problem I found is that whoever the selected member of your team, only the last one will show on screen.
A great entry, would love to play it with more cards and on a mobile device.

The Oubliette Within by Dietrich Epp 2014-05-14T19:43:00

I tested the 1.0 jam version. Obviously the game lacks polish due to time constraints but I liked action take on the theme and especially how you managed to integrate it in the platformer format. Now I'll go on playing the post comp version.

Beneatha steal pie by howieV (binarygirl) 2014-05-09T19:34:00

Simple and fun! Could you implement moonwalk for the post comp version?

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Olympus Reunited by jujule 2014-08-28T12:25:00

@BrainSlug83 Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you like it! Strange about the graphics bug though, I can't reproduce it on my machine ( very low quality will make graphics very blurry but I don't see the effect your mentioning ). What machine do you play the game on?

@DerekRumpler Thanks for the kind words and advice. I was indeed short of time. You can now start a game with the controller's fire button

Tough Love Machine by intmain 2014-08-26T11:15:00

Very smart take on the them an superbly executed. Everything is so consistent. I want more!

Parallel Rift by liquidminduk 2014-08-26T11:21:00

Very slick entry, feels very professional. Everything is top notch. I managed to get 8 "clones". Could be nice if the environment could change on slightly between each jump into the vortex, that would add a little narrative touch to the game.
