Game doesn't run for me :/
Simply amazing game. It might not have been that innovative, but the graphics were awesome! It's the subtle things that transform something from being good to great, and I feel as if this game definitely achieved that. As others have said, maybe add some music, and maybe make the levels last longer and/or add power-ups, and I could definitely see myself buying this on a mobile platform. Definitely the best submission I've played so far. Bravo.
Pretty interesting game. Cool graphic style. Quite challenging!
Sorry, but frankly I don't know what could be causing it :/
Jod: They are birds that're supposed to pick up shards for you (Potato power-up. Birds. Geddit?) but I didn't really have enough time to make them work correctly.
Thanks for all the comments so far!
Xajnos: That's an issue with playing at a low framerate. Unfortunately, slower computers will experience this issue. The power-ups taking extreme amounts of time to wear off that Aaron4576 was experiencing also is due to the low framerate you may have. I didn't expect there to be as many people with this issue as there are, because those seem to be the most common complaint. I guess I've learned me lesson, and will plan for future games to be playable on a much wider amount of computers!
Only one thing? I can assure you that more than one thing is meant to happen...
If you miss too many shards (don't collect them) you lose!
Pretty interesting game. Not really seen anything like it for ludum dare before. Pretty hilarious sound effects though!
Definitely broke away from the typical "get from point a to point b without hitting the walls" genre with several different mechanics. Awesome music! Enjoyed playing the game.
Seems like an interesting concept, but I couldn't really do much as I don't know SQL (and the help isn't particularly.. well, helpful) Good work though! Not many can say they've made a parser in a day.
Great game.. great graphics as well. You're level introducing the key/doors mechanic, though, was EXTREMELY repetitive. It wasn't a bad level in general, but I'd refrain from doing repetitive levels like that. Otherwise, nice game!
Really awesome game! Sound was great, graphics were beautiful, and the ending was (imo) kind of humorous. Great job!
Pretty awesome game! The mood was great (although i played in half volume, because I'm a bit of a pussy when it comes to scary/horror games haha) Definitely has the potential to be made into a full game. Will definitely recommend to my friends.
Amazing work!
Sinuath: read the 'how to play,' it tells you the goal :)
Pixelfan, do you mind going more into detail about it?
Thanks for the feedback!
1. Yeah, now that you mentioned it, making the background move when you jump sounds like a good idea.
2. Any teleportation that occured would be you moving from the fight room (meaning you have to fight the enemy) or back.
3. If you are in a fight and are close enough to the enemy to attack it, the hit animation should play.
Recursiveanomaly: you're thinking of celly, not my game :)
What do you mean by 'finished'? More/better animations, more levels, an actual block texture?
Audio was a bit loud (especially the death sound) and you don't get hurt by the spikes on the ground if you walk into them (you have to jump onto them, walking is harmless) but otherwise, pretty good!
Pretty awesome adventurer you've got here. Quite unique mechanic, and executed very well. Was very pleasing, both visually and audibly. Good work!
Nice play on the theme, quite original. I didn't quite understand what my shots did, but otherwise seemed pretty solid.
Good work!
Nice play on the theme, quite original. I didn't quite understand what my shots did, but otherwise seemed pretty solid. (EDIT: read the documentation and that helped everything make a lot more sense. It's still kind of an unusual game, but was done well.)
Good work!
Pretty great game! Didn't get very far because I gave up after the second time I managed to lose my sphere. That's my problem though, not yours. Also, the "bug" you experienced in my game isn't a bug, it's a feature. There are invisible walls around the map to stop you from leaving the level. There are better alternatives I could have (and should have) implemented, but didn't due to lack of motivation. Hope that clears things up, ping me on IRC if there's anything else you didn't like/understand about it, using same name!
Great game! Have been wanting to play it ever since trying your demos on the IRC. The panic the character experiences isn't just his own, for the heartbeat and the on-screen thoughts induce quite a bit of panic onto the player as well. I figured out the solution just as the zombies started walking in on my second attempt. Great job, would love to see a post-jam version, where perhaps the player finds a way past the barred window and has to figure out what to do from there, perhaps find a working car in the parking lot?
Very addicting gameplay, and fitting graphics. Unfortunately, it isn't exactly the most original game concept, and I can't judge the audio since I'm playing on firefox. Good work, anyways!
Only one try in something like this isn't really acceptable in my opinion, and the .jar download takes way for me to bother trying it again, and I have the best internet I can get in my region. If you improve the download speed or remove the only one try, tell me and I'll re-rate it.
Very fun experience, and great story! Going to play the post-compo now, in hopes of more of SHIFTER's life story! Well done!
Not bad for your first game, by any means! Good work!
Not an original game whatsoever, but besides that it's fun, has good graphics, and has nice music. Well done!
Very fun and addicting little card game! I spent over an hour trying to beat it, to no avail :(
Finally! I have beaten it, with the almighty tool! >:D
Excellent game. I like it! Would love to see a post-jam version.
Great graphics, and fitting. Pretty cool that you have some character customization to you. Overall gameplay seems a bit too easy, though.
I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen a typing game for Ludum Dare! Good game, not much to comment on, but this is fun compared to most typing games.
@CharlieLove
Are you referring to the icons in the lower left? Those indicate the seats you have remaining. And I agree, it's too easy but I didn't have enough time to do any significant level design, I finished with like one minute left.
There isn't just one enemy! There are five! (5 at all times - if you kill one, another one spawns on the map!)
I didn't add mac and linux versions because they're a minority, and the web build covers them. As far as the download taking a long time, that'd be an issue with dropbox, nothing I can do on my part.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone!
Pretty sure I clicked on just about every pixel in the screen but I still wasn't able to find the antenna. Would have liked to see the end.
Nice, simple platformer. Accidentally stepped on a crab when trying to get air. Pincers hurt!
I don't know if it is meant to be, but the music is painfully loud on my computer, to the point that I had to take my headset off. Neat game, though!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
What is there to say about this game? It's absolutely amazing, in every way. Simple, yet very addicting gameplay, charming graphics with a very unique shader, and quite fitting audio - the music never got annoying in the entire time I played (something I can't say about every game.. mine doesn't even have music! ;) ), and the sound effects fit perfectly with the game. Outstanding job! I wouldn't be at all surprised if you win, or end up releasing on steam one day!
Neat!
@FrozenFire92 - the hearts adopt your velocity and add to it, instead of moving independently. You can shoot diagonally this way, although dedicated diagonal shooting would have been nice to implement. As for the game ending, you have to follow the path and defeat the boss at the end to fulfill the win condition.
Thank you for all the feedback everyone!
